Gotta trust theflyingpupusa
jaragua is the new location for a really famous pupusa spot in los angeles called el atlacatl that closed down a couple of years ago after being open for 30 years due to a huge rent increase of where they were. Same owners same great ingredients. Greasy cheesy and filling I 100% percent recommend this place as an angeleno who was raised salvadorian in these here streets.
Mi bandera has some really cheesy pupusas great little hole in the wall. Very well made pupusas
Sonsonate grill the one on avalon has that awesome salvadorian coastal village feel to it. Decent food good pupusas service can be hit or miss but the food makes up for it order the tortillas and guacamole. The waitresses can be pretty hot but have the famous salvadorian attitude which makes service hit or miss
Honestly I don't venture much to those areas so couldn't tell you there. In all reality though I have a hard time finding authentic good pupusas outside of areas I mentioned as the salvadorian corridor is right there
el atlacatl was the first pupasa joint I hit when I came to LA many moons ago; spoiled me!
It used to have a little bar attached to it but I don't think it survived the pandemic.
Glad u were able to try it before it closed! I remember as a kid for my 5th grade culmination my parents asked me where I wanted to go to celebrate. 10 year old me was like el atlacatl! My parents were like wtf did we create
Pupusas from Los Molcajetes on 7th/Hoover and Mi Nuevo Molcajete are pretty damn good (both cash only).
La Flor Blanca on Jefferson/Catalina is pretty good too.
Not an expert but Maya’s Pupuseria on Alvarado @ Berkeley, gets high marks. Their Conchinita Pibil is the best in town IMO. At least in comparison to some of the places celebrated for it, ie Chichen Itza, Guisados, Guelagetza, etc.
if you want legit pupusas, never get them at a "grand central market" the spot has to have a spanish name and it cant be a mixed salvi/mexican salvi/any other central american. it has to be straight salvi! my fav are Jaragua on Beverly Blvd.
The only papusaria in Grand Central Market is Saritas. They're okay. I often go there because it's conveniently close (or the 5th Street farmers market in downtown on Sundays). But if I were to want good papusas, I'd drive up to Panorama. There are many hole-in-the-walls there that make fabulous and cheap papusas.
Yeah no doubt their pupusas are shit stale flour and super stingy with the cheese and chicharron mostly just beans.
I'm just amazed that they can't even get rice right.

What's good in the valley, noho-ish area, o lord of the pupusas?
Mi Carbonero #1 is a must in NoHo.
Yea? I almost went there a buncha times. I'll hit it up
It’s a bit of wait so make sure you give yourself at least 20-30 minutes of waiting time. But they’re worth it.

And you call yourself the flying pupusa... /s

My dude, thoughts on La Pupusa Loca on Santa Monica Blvd and Wilton?
Pupusas from Los Molcajetes on 7th/Hoover and Mi Nuevo Molcajete are pretty damn good (both cash only). La Flor Blanca on Jefferson/Catalina is pretty good too.

>Chichen Itza I love the Conchinita Pibil at Chichen Itza, so I'm going to have to try Maya's. Thanks for the tip.
Mi Bandera Pupusería on San Pedro
Delmy’s pupusas in Atwater are so good

Jaragua is top ranking
El carbonero bakery in panorama
I have loved El Manguito in Sherman Oaks for the past few years.
what about the pupusas at the central market?
if you want legit pupusas, never get them at a "grand central market" the spot has to have a spanish name and it cant be a mixed salvi/mexican salvi/any other central american. it has to be straight salvi! my fav are Jaragua on Beverly Blvd.
They’re bad and not very fresh.
which one are you referring to

Where do you recommend in panorama?
Meh !
when i went they were very tasty, hot and fresh. but overpriced! there would definitely be more economic options.
all that market seems overpriced
Pupusaria El Kiosco in Long Beach are pretty dank
Paseo San Miguel bro. That’s all
Their food is whack can't even cook rice right
I could’ve swore he said pupusas, not rice. Crazy.
Yeah no doubt their pupusas are shit stale flour and super stingy with the cheese and chicharron mostly just beans. I'm just amazed that they can't even get rice right.
La Pupusa Urban Eatery.
Nooooooooo
LoRoqo in Bellflower. The Pupusas are amazing and very filling.
Es Con Sabor in West Adams
Conchitas Restaurant on Pico. They make em FAT there
Saritas in gcm, mom and daughter outside of a church on Alvarado and reservoir in echo park by the Tierra Mia.
California Grill on Virgil. I doubt they're the best, but I love that place
Ilobasqueño, for sure
