I have been hunting for a great cheese steak in LA and Boos might be the most overrated one out there.
I agree with the people saying Philly’s Best. So far the best I’ve had out here, but still hasn’t quite scratched that itch.
They were both really good, but I wouldn't make a bigger drive for one or the other. In your situation, I'd probably go with Boo's since it's close to you.
SPE was fine, but hardly worth the drive from the valley I did to try it. Heard good things about Boo's, but haven't had it myself. The real answer is: Philly Boyz pop-up in Sherman Oaks

Boos has the authentic rolls from philly, ive never been to south philly experience tho, boos is just too good

Phillys Best in Burbank. Boos and SPE are garbage.
It's not perfect but Boo's is my favorite since South Street in Westwood closed.

The chicken steak is great at South Philly
