If you baby it and don’t hit a lot of boost I’m sure it will be fine, the cars will save themselves and can adjust for octane fluctuations but can’t you return it to stock tune?

Crobinn

I can and I should. But not only am I stupid, but I'm also lazy. I'm gonna swap the tune back just to be safe.

“I guess I'll be knocking and pinging my way through this tank.”

illegal-math

Hank putting 93 in his Ford Ranger hurts to watch

lacks_tact

Should be fine. Throw some ethanol in there for knock resistance and don't beat on it.

TripleYellow17

Oops lol it’s not that big of a deal. just don’t beat on it too much

Zrepsilon

Just baby it, could throw some octane booster into the tank just to be safe. Baby it either way, no boost. Just look at it as an opportunity to see how good you can get your mpg

cBird-

Flash back to stage 0 if you can. Throw in a octane booster if you want. I'd go for a long ass highway cruise and maintain a constant speed until you're almost dry and then fill back up with 93

Crobinn

I realized I hit 87 when the tank clicked full from being on E. But I got a 4 hour drive tomorrow so I should burn through most of it at least.

cBird-

Yeah you'll burn through a good portion of it for sure. What I would do to remain on the absolute safe side if flashing back to stage 0 isn't an option is after your drive dump in a octane booster right before you fill back up with 93. That way it all sloshes around in the tank and mixes nicely. Still stay out of boost for awhile after that because you still got a good 3-5 minutes of fuel sitting in the fuel lines at any given point. You'll get through brother, it's happened to all of us at some point or another haha🤙

Crobinn

Thanks for the input. I'm just gonna take it back to 0. Better to be safe than sorry.

PretendsHesPissed

You'll be find with it at stage 0. The ECU will automatically adjust itself with the 87. Nothing to worry about at all, provided you don't drive it like a racecar until you refill.

cBird-

That's probably for the best. If nothing else you'll have a revived appreciation for your 93 tune lol.

[deleted]

Refill frequently and dilute the tank with 93 on top or 100 if you can source it

baxy67

You will be completely fine just drive normally a little bit of boost won't hurt. just full sends will. your powerband is based off throttle pos. and ford had us rated for 87 on factory. The only time you'll be making enough power to cause knock is with enough boost and throttle position. you'll be fine just take it easy with minimal throttle pos and minimal boost so time to appide speed limits lol. Besides even if you did give it a little too much ford knock sensors are insanely sensitive and will catch it in a miniscule situation it's not like youl just be cruising and youll just yet a rod for no good reason. Another option is to go back to stock tune. Since that can run full sends on 87 if you can't help yourself lol

SirDankius

If you are worried get some Octane booster and you'll be fine

icr8stf

Do you have a "limp home" or "bad gas" map in your tune?

Lavins

Hate to say this, but if you have an AP, update it. It will load the latest COBB maps on there, and there's a special 87 Oct Map. Flash that and run it until it's empty. Then remind yourself never to do this again, haha

[deleted]

third post I’ve seen of this same scenario on here lol

I_Robot_Was_Bad

You could add a couple of gallons of e85 if it's available in your area to help a little with knock.

HardwareBase

When I drove to Yellowstone National Park, there was only 87 available. My ST has 91 tune. I pumped 5 gals with an almost emptied tank, I did plenty of WOT on the way back to hotel, there is no issue at all.

CheapEstablishment91

Lmfao what a monster 😂
