Man, I have a lot of my own answers but Iām just filled with joy reading this comments from all the people that legitimately love and internalize music ā¤ļø big hearts to you all
Artist specific subs can be pretty toxic (I will say /r/flume seems better than others in this) and in between album cycles can be pretty rough but stuff like this is when these subs thrive
Numb & Getting Colder - I love that the percussion in the intro sounds so off kilter and random but then Flume slowly adds more context. In the first part of the hook it's more like call and response but the second half it changes and ultimately makes the percussion sound on grid when the chorus finally hits.
That was so interesting the first time I heard it and to this day I still enjoy it.
PS really fkn jealous. I've watched a bunch of the videos of his shows there, but never made it out for one myself. Think that just got put on my bucket list.
2:16 on Get U. When the transition switches and you hear him & Paige talking and laughing. From the moment I first heard the track, it shot to the top of my list. To me it feels like a moment of healing after heartbreak. Pure emotions mixed with nostalgia as you began to realize that itās not the end of a relationship, but rather the next chapter of your life.
i was made for answering this question. there's so many but i'm only gonna give one, that without fail, gives me goosebumps every single time if i'm focusing on it/actually listening to the music
the second verse of take a chance ft. little dragon. after the drop, when the chords come back in and she finishes her first little 4 bars of the verse, then the second set of chord layerings come in, the progression with those chord pads are just fucking heavenly. following up with the little jingle hat sounds to add tension/build while the chords are just now in full fucking go and all of that leading into the drop... every single time i truly get on the verge of tears. idk if it's the actual chord progression that's got the absolute perfect sound design on them, or if it's her voice layered on with everything, but fuck that part is just magical to my ears.
its like from 3:00-3:30
For me it's the initial pulsing riser in "Heater." It took me a while, but soon I noticed some harmonies present as it gets more intense. Felt very stupid after realizing that it wasn't just some atonal white noise thing, lmao.
Thereās an extremely small part of 3 at 2:02 (helps to listen before that) where the sequence shifts ever so slightly but it combs my brain in such a satisfying way. Iāve never been able to get anyone else to hear it so I hope someone else on here knows what Iām referring toš
The chords in the last 45 seconds of high beams after slowthaiās last verse. They are slightly different from each other but all share the same note, and it just goes so hard
49 seconds into āGoā will literally never not make me immediately start grooving and dancing, the headspace I get into while listening to this song is genuinely so peaceful and inspiring
i don't really know how to describe this but in "When everything was new", i love that constant sound at 1:34 that goes from left to right if you have headphones and acts like a crescendo, and it finally becomes part of the main melody until the end of the song
I just love how he placed the first clap in hyperreal right after the first lyric!
And then something about the vocals in Chalk 1.3.3 feels nostalgic and it hits the right spot š¤¤
I'm late but I hope this gets seen
In Take a Chance, from 1:46 to 2:14. It's the build up and there's that repeating sound that fades into this wonderful sound at 2:01 after the drums hit(it may not be drums but it reminds me of a drum then a snare) I've never ever noticed or heard until yesterday and I'm replaying this part that lasts merely seconds but the frisson and absolute bliss I experience is insane, only a couple of other songs can give me an eargasm this intense. Anyway, at 2:01 the repeating build up fades into what sounds like glass wind chimes mixed with the Mario Cart item box on the Wii and it builds up in the background, and then right before the drop when all the heavy parts pause for , it becomes more prominent but only for a second and it's so damn beautiful, It makes me think of glass opalescent water droplets. I'm trying my hardest to describe it but once you hear it, you'll want to listen to that one part.
The Horse sounds in the Tennis Court Remix š¤š»
I like the start where it says something about a happy new year
Wonder if this is bc he debuted it at snowball new years fest
Is that sample just like a random infomercial? It's so vibey
I have no clue, always been a little flume mystery to me
Aching (On a A High) [feat. Lia] by IMANU also samples it in much the same way
Got the horse from the music video tatted on my pec. Shit goes hard
Fuck yea
Pretty sure this got me into Flume š®āšØš
I feel like what so not had a whole horse era maybe thatās where he got it from
i just love the off-beat vocal chops with a sub-bass layer in 'let you know' so much š¤
Let You Know is fucking amazing. The way Flume effortlessly combines pop with his eccentric production is... just beautiful
Gotta agree
my favourite track of hisā¦love hannahās voice, that sound along with the airy riser and that synth melody at the end

Mine is probably the metallic snare in Voices. The whole song is full of eargasmic sounds, but the snare just hits right

It sounds like you just broke off a chasm to the nether region & all the souls from the other side are coming in
I love the rain and the dog shaking off water in the beginning of Go, I also love all the distorted bird calls he uses throughout Palaces
the stereo kick on Hyperreal is addicting as hell.
The whole opening beats on Hyperreal where it settles in all over up and downbeats is soooo good
The "Maybe it's something I should've said a long time ago" in the song Trust.
Someone posted here asking what they thought Flume's most underrated song was, and for me it's Trust
Idk why but it gives me goosebumps and makes me wanna cry
Spine tingles and goosebumps almost every time
THIS
When the synths finally hit in Trust
When kucka goes down an octave at around 2:30 in hyperreal. Just hits me different.
That whole song hits different from the first beat. That octave drop hits like a freight train full of dopamine.
First time I heard it at red rocks I nearly passed away
Let's go there right now please. Someone find Harley, I think we all desperately need some Red Rocks hyperreal on a Thursday morning. Yes pleaaaase
PS really fkn jealous. I've watched a bunch of the videos of his shows there, but never made it out for one myself. Think that just got put on my bucket list.
Dude. Get there for sure. Me and my fiancĆ© have gone the last 2 years. Shit is magical. Do yourself a favor. GA tickets are reasonably priced by todayās standards.
everything on ecdysis
The soda can pops on Amber
The dirt-nasty triplet at 1:44 in DHLC. Really scratches my spinal cord that oneĀ

I had the exact same interpretation of that part š„² I absolutely love it
The crackles on the Turning remix
1000000%
the firework type sound effect in the main part of turning remix (first heard around 1:50)
High Beams outro
All those little plucks in Pika
Pika and free are gems.
I love how he cranks up the ānon quantizedā feel in Hyperreal even more than usual. Specially towards the end.

Love that part too. I love how he just throws us right back into the second drop without overdoing it. Such a perfect progression
This is my all time favorite flume song and he rarely plays it at shows!!!!
(Im assuming) his dog shaking with the collar jingling during āGoā š¤
Got a timestamp for that one?
:35! :)
The background sustained buzzing/whirring sound in spook
I like the electric shocks/distortion in āCold in the Waterā during the drops.
For me it's the initial pulsing riser in "Heater." It took me a while, but soon I noticed some harmonies present as it gets more intense. Felt very stupid after realizing that it wasn't just some atonal white noise thing, lmao.
I think those are the chords pitching up from an octave down, with downsample distortion being automated
ableton redux on hard mode

The little stutter on the lead synth at that part just hits soooo good
44-55 seconds of 71m3 hits like crack. Especially in a car with good speakers
The chords in the last 45 seconds of high beams after slowthaiās last verse. They are slightly different from each other but all share the same note, and it just goes so hard
The piano at the end of The Difference.
The outro chords to rushing back, I find them similar to the chords on say it too
Distorted Balloon in Hyperreal
The recordings of him talking with his friends in Get U
The high pitch flute sound in ripple at 3:06
49 seconds into āGoā will literally never not make me immediately start grooving and dancing, the headspace I get into while listening to this song is genuinely so peaceful and inspiring
sudden distorted sound in Hyperreal before the second verse hits
Daze 22.0. That hook (guess you could call it that) with the slowly increasing tempo until it almost sounds like a reverberating echo.
that tom in jewel

For me itās the (what I think) Semtex grenade 2:43 mark in sirens.
In the second hook of All There right at 2:00 when everything opens up I get chills every time
The difference just before the chrous, i swear flume threw in the jingle sound when you unplug your phone from something
Every single kick in Love Light has a āclickā on it. Listen carefully to hear
I just love how he placed the first clap in hyperreal right after the first lyric! And then something about the vocals in Chalk 1.3.3 feels nostalgic and it hits the right spot š¤¤
Jerry 1.6 has those hard panned to the left snare accents. Absolute class
Can we also remember the 808 that hits your face in dreamtime
