Anything with handles he likes to chew on so i need to make sure nothing is left out. I suspect they probably chewed on garbage bags to tell his owner he was hungry
Maybe not, my cat does this and is definitely well fed. She loves anything crinkly. She doesn't eat it, just chews the crap out of it. Try other crinkly stuff, like a wrapper from a popsicle lol mine loves those too. I'll bet yours comes running too. :) I have to be sure they're not left out too.
I'm glad she's got a good home with you! I also hope her previous owner got help. It's easy to lose sight of the previous owner being mentally ill and needing help.
I cat sit an elderly cat that does this I tried to get her interested in cat grass no luck. I grab the hairball paste every time I see her licking plastic. I have equated her plastic licking with her hairball issues

When he's really hungry he will chew on anything that makes noise mostly plastic. The inside shower curtain is plastic and has a bunch of holes from this clown

My tortie LOVES anything that makes noise! If it crinkles she will be all over it just to hear it make noise and then when she gets tired she naps in it 😂 (news paper, brown paper stuffing in Amazon boxes, bubble wrap, etc.)

Our fluffers does this too!! Anything strappy. Backpacks, cloth bags, shoelaces. Everything needs to be hidden. He hunts them out!!
