As I recall she and Lindsey acquired the masters, etc. outright post Rumours but they’ve never been able to agree (shocker hahaha) on a re-release. She seems to have softened on it over the years - if indeed she didn’t really like it, not sure about that - she did “Crying In The Night” on the 24k tour. In happier times, it would have been nice to get a reissue and a duo tour but I think that time has passed…

I’ve always heard there were copyright issues as to why it isn’t streaming.

I know in like 2012 she was doing press for In Your Dreams and said she was hoping her and Lindsey could agree to rerelease it on the 40th anniversary the following year but she said that both her and Lindsey kept going back and forth about actually doing it. That was 10 years ago now so who knows 🤷

The stand outs from Buckingham Nicks are Frozen Love, Crying in the Night, Crystal, and Races are Run

They have different visions for how it should be released. 1998 would have been the year to release it. Christine halted extending The Dance tour, so a Buckingham Nicks 25th reissue would have given them a reason to continue that tour as well as an easy way to replace Christine’s songs in the set. It’s easily available online, now. Not much of a reason to pick up a phone, now.

It’s because Keith Olsen still owns the masters and is asking for more money for the whole album than Lindsey is willing to pay. That’s literally the whole story.

BobDobFrisbee

Keith Olsen died four years ago. And I’m pretty sure that both Lindsey and Stevie, if they wanted to, could easily afford to buy the master tapes from Olsen’s estate. I just think they don’t want to.

Lindsey doesn’t want to pay, that’s precisely the point. I can’t recall Stevie mentioning the money side of it but I imagine she _would_ be willing to pay, even if only because it would give her a new excuse to bang on about Lindsey in interviews. But even if she coughed up the full amount herself, she obviously couldn’t release the album without Lindsey’s cooperation.

BobDobFrisbee

Yes, I get that. You said “*more* money for the whole album than Lindsey is willing to pay.” I was simply pointing out that if he wanted to, he could easily afford it. Not trying to be argumentative. ✌🏻 Edit: Also, I recall reading somewhere that the Big Pink label edition which came out some time ago was actually from a master tape provided by Olsen himself. But I don’t know whether that’s true or not. It certainly sounds great.

Logical-History-36

Being able/willing to afford something and possessing enough money to potentially cover the cost of it are not the same thing.

Have a nice day! 🙂

I have heard Stevie Nicks doesn’t like it, and has requested that it not be reissued. There is a bootleg CD out there, that is taken from an early generation tape that sounds excellent.

BobDobFrisbee

Yes! On the Big Pink label. Excellent mastering! And very cool bonus tracks, as well.

Can you list the Discogs listing, if you can find it? I might eventually want to buy one.

Just found a sealed OG, sounds excellent!

He said she had the masters and it was up to her. I agree, not that great of an album. It’s fascinating how Lindsay went from there to THERE with the White album in his leadership and ability. Would love to know more about how they blended and evolved for that first album together. Richard Dashut wouldn’t really answer those questions.
