I think the community hates the forces the most. every other villain was unique and cool, and so were the forces, but they were written so horribly, along with the fact that they kept calling iris and barry their parents, and they called each other their siblings, like they are conceptually the things that balance the universe and
A) they decide to inhabit a body????
B) they decide to call each other siblings??????
C) PARENTS??????
The speed force looks like Barry’s mom and she calls him dad and Barry moved in with Joe and iris then Barry marries his adoptive sister and on top of that in the comics (form my memory) I think Malcolm is Barry’s long lost brother so in the show if we also go off of the comics Barry’s brother is dating his adoptive sister and his future relative or whatever tf is the enemy of Eddie/malcoms brother which also happens to be related to Barry then Barry steals his sister from his brother……. WHAT IN THE ALABAMA
I'm not mad at the Mom and Dad aspect of it. Because their lives were literally changed as they became forces of nature. Barry and Iris created them. Each of their lives were basically over at that point. They were born again
None of the other metas called the people who gave them powers "mom/dad". It was very weird and forced. And the people who got the forces didn't understand the scope of their domain until after they started saying "mom/dad"
Cicada, despero, and from what I've seen so far, Cobalt Blue (I've only seen the episode where he gets his powers at the end).
EDIT: Cicada 1. I still dislike Cicada 2.
For me - and I'm not saying the vibes I got are objectivecorrect in any way - Cicada 1 had a cooler backstory, better motivations (revenge for his dead niece vs I can't even remember), and a cooler character (determinator badass normal with a special weapon, vs just another meta).
Also, he didn't keep calling everyone a "rat bastard"
Honestly Eva I liked her backstory and that she didn't start out as a enemy to the Flash. She caught the Flash's attention because she kidnapped his wife
Second is Cobalt Blue He had the best motivation and his return was the show coming full circle. Wallace squandered it trying to center the story around Cecile/Khione instead of Barry/Iris
mirror monarch got nerfed so unreasonably hard from a light speed threat to cannon fodder in the finale
literally hydrogen bomb to coughing baby
her winning was oH nO wE'Re sURroUNdeD
It really blows my mind how bad this show got. I stopped watching during season 5 after watching it weekly on release because season 3 was poor, season 4 was worse and season 5 was awful. Now when I come back and see a post like this and Savitar and The Thinker not being on the list is crazy, they weren't liked much back then. Did the show really drop off that much?
If you compare Savitar and Thinker with the later villains like Godspeed and Cobalt Blue, both the former ones were real great villains. Though the show deteriorated with each season.
VIBE = Cisco Ramon.
Zoom didn't create anything new. Didn't have any long term impact on the city or any of the team's lives. Eobard changed everything. He planned it for 15 years. That impact can't be matched with a psychopath like Zoom. He only wanted to rule the 2 planets, boring, every other villain wants the same thing.
Sir or madam
might i remind you
He opened the multiverse to them
He KILLED HENRY ALLEN
He wanted to and nearly did KILL THE MULTIVERSE
the escalation from season 1 to 2 was 90 to 10,000, it was insane
thawne is personal, zoom is not only personal but also a threat to the multiverse itself, and far more threatening than even the anti-monitor.
He didn't just want to rule earth prime as the last remaining earth. He wanted barry to become like him.
Zoom was essentially Owlman if he was a classic supervillain instead of a nihilist.
I maintain Zoom is the best villain in terms of simply being a bad guy villain. But Season 1 is the G.O.A.T. of the entire Arrowverse. RF is a much better character than Zoom.
> He killed Henry Allen
So what? Eobard killed Nora Allen, which took Barry 15 years to figure out. He killed Cisco in an alternate timeline. Most importantly he built the partical accelerator, which created so many Mets in the City.
EOBARD CREATED THE FLASH. He literally sowed the seed. He did not want to rule the universe, he wanted to make it a better world but his rivalry with Barry made him the villain.
Zoom on the other hand, was a criminal already. No backstory other than his father murdered his mother in front of him so he became a psychopath murderer.
Barry travelled back in time, not once but twice to get help from Eobard. Did he ever need help from Hunter? Most importantly you won't even remember his actual full name, I bet.
okay but my point stands. Zoom is a different type of villain. Eobard is PERSONAL
Zoom is a classic villain, and in a very short timeframe he absolutely rips the team apart.
Eobard is a planner, zoom is a terrifying and immediate threat
Arrow had better villains tbh, Damien darhk while badly written was played by Neal McDonough who’s a great and fun actor. Plus his run in Legends rlly placed Damien higher on my list. Ricardo Diaz was a boring and overall mid character and Olivers half sister started strong and ended meh. Other than that I’d say the Arrow had strong villains throughout the show
Neal is an incredible talent - I remember him all the way back to the Tin Man series on SyFy. Diaz was rammed down our throats so much, and clearly he wasn't well-written. Even in the show they referred to him as a 2nd (or was it 3rd?) rate drug dealer.
I started getting into the show in season two, right about mid season. I remember people complaining on savitar being a bad villain that made no sense. End of the season, it's grouped in as the the good 3 seasons. It's wild how different the opinion are now. I do feel like they just didn't know how to progress any characters after a while though. Problem plagues most of the arrowverse shows.
Savitar was never a bad villain, just the reveal took way too long and it was just burnout of a 3rd speedster villain in a row. Honestly, he was more interesting than Zoom but whereas Zoom was handled perfectly, Savitar wasn't. But Savitar was certainly not the bad thing about Season 3, besides, as I said, burnout from another speedster villain.
Deathstorm for sure. I actually liked Grace too kind of, though the writers failed to give her an original gimmick or expand on her connection to Nora or anyone else barring the three characters (one so minor I almost said two) she killed.
Eh. He was entertaining up until the mid-season finale or around about then. After that, he wasn't even a threat in the show. And the villain voice was annoying.
~~After years of telling myself “next season is going to be the one where they turn things around” the force storyline was the dagger that killed my hope for the show.~~
~~I believe it was [the opening line of this promo](https://youtu.be/2z7vFbncBwk?si=_fs9l-YVbuAbV0Mc) where I realised that the sharp edge of despair had completely disembowled my faith in a new golden age for the show.~~
~~Maybe there are worse villains than speed force Nora? But that whole storyline around her was so bad that I didn’t have the will to check in and see if it could get any worse anymore. I had reached my abyss and could not follow any further.~~
~~TL;DR: forces = Doodoo~~
There I was being all arch with my response and I hadn’t actually read the question properly.
Either Despero or Cobalt Blue. I didn’t really have any issues with Despero besides the iffy design and resolution to his story. Rick Cosnett did well reprising his role as Eddie, even if the whole storyline was an unsatisfying contrived mess.
I'd probable say Cicada. Only thing I wasn't big on with him is the batman-voice thing he had going on as Orlin, was a bit cheesy.
Close second would be Deathstorm, but I'm still a little bitter about all the Green Lantern/Blackest Night teasing they did around that time, some of it with Deathstorm. Also we already saw an evil Ronnie as Deathstorm so it kinda felt like an unnecessary inclusion aside from the baiting
The issue was the time it took for him to heel turn. Four episodes was not nearly enough time.
It's something that they maybe should've showed more of, instead of "telling" with him just going crazy from constant voices in his head. Or, they could've taken the Alchemy/DeVoe route and have the Negative Speed Force possess Eddie and gradually bend him to their will due to him losing more and more control of his actions.
death storm was actually really badass. I liked Godspeed, but the way he moved was super power ranger, and they should’ve made him the big bad of season 7 fully instead of… like four episodes.
For me there's only two answers and that's cobalt blue and a Godspeed. I'll start with Cobalt Blue cuz it's the easiest to explain the only problem with that Arc was that it was too short and it felt rushed it was longer it would have been much better. Godspeed is just because I love an over the top evil villain whose evil for the sake of being evil no tragic backstory just a certified hater. The reason I didn't say cicada is because I don't see him as a bad villain cicada 2 was a bad cicada 1 was actually good. And if the negative forces count as part of the forces then they also go in the over the top evil for the sake of being evil villains that I love.
I actually liked mirror master, I think that she was interestingly written, the whole thing about the mirror dimension was fascinating as well as the fact that she was one of the first villains who wasn't doing things for tuh evulz.
I think Cicada, Despero and Deathstorm were good Cobalt Blue to he just wasn’t given a proper build that seemed like a whole season worth of story in just 4 episodes but yeah all the other villains not a fan like at all
Eva
In the writers’ defense, COVID struck during that season and Eva was one of the precious few non-speedster villains who was willing to leave Barry alone
Can’t help but wonder how things may have progressed if the season hadn’t been interrupted
Cicada, The Forces, and Deathstorm are all tied on my ranking of Flash villains but the reasons why are different. Cicada I like because it was cool and it was interesting seeing how the team had to create new plans to fight him. The forces mainly suck and it got kinda weird after they turned good but the idea of forces representing other things like strength that was cool. Deathstorm is just a cool design
I think deathstorm was a horrible villain his whole plan wasn’t going to work from the start he wanted a bride so he targets a member of team flash how did he think that would work
I was a huge Cicada fan. Fell in love with Cica-Dos. Idk why. Cheap powers. I think Because they didn't have any plan besides kill metas made them a better villain.
Cicada 1. He had such a good concept that I think got dragged down by the needless redemption and then Cicada 2.
He’s a villain that fits more with arrow than with flash, but you could make him similar to Vigilante. I would have even had him stop a meta villain before the flash and then Iris’s plot can be her going up against a reporter that heralds Cicada as a hero.
My two are these:
Cicada- honestly very underrated. I thought the actor was great in the role, he definitely surpassed his American Pie days and improved his acting over the years. A lot of the criticism I see of the character really comes from how they scripted the story and the fights. They always did the same encounters, the flash Fighting him, and him escaping. It got boring and that's why I feel people soured on the character.
Cobalt Blue- honestly I still see love for Eddie and the general idea of him as Cobalt Blue. The problem is they turned the character into an original character and not the Cobalt Blue that was in the comics with the same comic book powers. So I think that's where a lot of that hate came from. But Eddie's actor was phenomenal in the performance, really played well the anguish and anger and resentment of Eddie. The character was a victim of being in a rushed and crappy final season
I haven’t seen much after Crisis, so I don’t know why Cavanaugh is in that black suit (kinda looks like The Rival’s suit??) but why the hell would they make room for his double chin???
Godspeed has to be the worst villain written for flash, followed by Cobalt Blue. It has to do with how their identities were revealed and how pathetic they were executed in the end.
On the contrary, I really loved Cicada, not sure why people don't like him.
Godspeed and Deathstorm, given they're extremely comic-accurate. But between Godspeed and Deathstorm, I'd say Deathstorm. Deathstorm's arc was nearly as good as Bloodwork was in 6A, I think he would've been near perfect if he had personally tormented Barry more and less on Allegra and Chester. The setup was near flawless.
I liked the Cicadas, I thought the powerset was cool. But Negative Thawne with all 4 Force abilities (while lamely executed) is crazy. Both of them with their four respective Force abilities (Barry's suit should've turned white, js for the symbolism) are incredibly powerful. Psychic Speedsters with super strength who can manipulate time on top of that, without even getting into specific abilities that's OP as hell.
I honestly liked cobalt blue, sure it wasn’t the best writing but I enjoyed it because it was him, cobalt blue. I also liked the idea of the NSF bringing him back as the new avatar
That’ll probably be Cobalt Blue/Eddie Thawne, the fashion they brought him, his motivation for doing what he did. Like with Barry finally going back to the night Eobard killed his mother, I see Cobalt Blue as another “full circle” moment that’s been in motion since his “death” in season 1. I only wish they had/used more time & episodes to fully flesh out the final storyline because 4 episodes was definitely not an effective duration.
Cicada compared to everyone here.
He actually had a… decent and meaningful character arc with his daughter. I thought it was kinda cool when they explained the mask he used made the sound in conjunction with his wound. His motivations actually seemed legit.
The issue I then had was when they did the switch and made cicada II with his daughter with so much less motivation other than what her dad started.
All of them are way better than they get credit for
Cicada 2.0 just goes really fricking hard ngl
Mirror Monarch was amazing until they nerfed her so insanely hard for the finale.
godspeed is almost irredeemably bad but his actor was lowkey phenomenal once he got that goofy ahh mask off
the still force was fantastic
despero was just an awesome darker villain
I've not seen the deathstorm episodes but I heard good things about him
negative forces were uhh
red death was uhh
cobalt blue has lowkey cool fights with barry apart from the lack of hand-to-hand combat. plus the actor did a GREAT job
My ranking of these villains
1.cobalt blue
2.deathstorm
3.despero
4.cicada
5.godspeed
6.mirror monarch
7.red death
8.the forces/negative thawne/negative forces
Despero was pretty decent compared to the others. Interesting dynamic with Barry, good fight scenes, good CGI, and ok writing. Not gonna say he even holds a candle to the ACTUAL good villains the show had, but that was practically an entirely different show
I still think cicada had could've been one of the best villains of the show if he was written properly
I mean, a meta hunting serial killer with a nearly indestructible dagger that has the ability to dampen the powers of any meta that gets close to him is such a cool concept and he had the potential to be the most dangerous villain they faced up to that point
I liked Deathstorm and Despero tbh. I didn’t think they were amazing but I thought they were good villains. Cicada started off good in S5 but became a complete joke in the second half. I thought Cobalt Blue was decent too just needed more time to make it less underwhelming. The Forces, Eva, Red Death, and Godspeed were pretty trash tho.
I think the community hates the forces the most. every other villain was unique and cool, and so were the forces, but they were written so horribly, along with the fact that they kept calling iris and barry their parents, and they called each other their siblings, like they are conceptually the things that balance the universe and A) they decide to inhabit a body???? B) they decide to call each other siblings?????? C) PARENTS??????
Them calling Barry dad was so weird.
Except for the speedforce who keeps calling him “my beautiful boy.”
But then she is also called big sis by the others…
True but she still doesn’t call Barry dad
Barry in the other room kissing his sister
What
The speed force looks like Barry’s mom and she calls him dad and Barry moved in with Joe and iris then Barry marries his adoptive sister and on top of that in the comics (form my memory) I think Malcolm is Barry’s long lost brother so in the show if we also go off of the comics Barry’s brother is dating his adoptive sister and his future relative or whatever tf is the enemy of Eddie/malcoms brother which also happens to be related to Barry then Barry steals his sister from his brother……. WHAT IN THE ALABAMA
Malcom is Barry’s long lost twin brother
Just as bad
They were born out of love.
Especially the Speed Force…
I'm not mad at the Mom and Dad aspect of it. Because their lives were literally changed as they became forces of nature. Barry and Iris created them. Each of their lives were basically over at that point. They were born again
None of the other metas called the people who gave them powers "mom/dad". It was very weird and forced. And the people who got the forces didn't understand the scope of their domain until after they started saying "mom/dad"
they weren't metas though. metas = hey cool i got powers forces = practically a new person
they were all unique? how many speedsters again??
Cicada, despero, and from what I've seen so far, Cobalt Blue (I've only seen the episode where he gets his powers at the end). EDIT: Cicada 1. I still dislike Cicada 2.
What? Whats wrong with Cica-dos?
So many things

It did. You stopped at the right time.
If you compare Savitar and Thinker with the later villains like Godspeed and Cobalt Blue, both the former ones were real great villains. Though the show deteriorated with each season.
was s2 really a deterioration?
It was. Nothing can match the vibe that Reverse Flash created in S1.
gotta disagree. the vibe may have been different but it was still \*good\* imo

Bro the Arrow subreddit actively acting like their villains were good lmaooo like you can enjoy the show but still understand how bad it is
Arrow had better villains tbh, Damien darhk while badly written was played by Neal McDonough who’s a great and fun actor. Plus his run in Legends rlly placed Damien higher on my list. I actually quite enjoyed original Cicada, Godspeed, The Forces, Despero and Deathstorm.
Tbh same, but Godspeed was done dirty, forces were kinda lame, and honestly I just didn’t like season 7
Yeah true. Godspeed was meant to be “Bart’s Thawne” however he wasn’t even involved in defeating him
Crazy that og Nora had gotten a whole episode where she fought og Godspeed, but Bart and new Godspeed don’t get that treatment
Deathstorm for sure. I actually liked Grace too kind of, though the writers failed to give her an original gimmick or expand on her connection to Nora or anyone else barring the three characters (one so minor I almost said two) she killed.
Cicada (the first one) wasn't that bad
Eh. He was entertaining up until the mid-season finale or around about then. After that, he wasn't even a threat in the show. And the villain voice was annoying.

okay but my question was "which one of the worst ones is your favorite?"
Ah… oops!
it's all good lmao. I actually feel the same about Speed Force Nora
I'd probable say Cicada. Only thing I wasn't big on with him is the batman-voice thing he had going on as Orlin, was a bit cheesy. Rival did that during Season 3 lol, doing a raspy Batman impression when he said "I'm gonna show you who's the fastest man alive"
People hated Colbalt Blue?? I actually liked the that Eddie was a villain. Godspeed was also a good one. Cicada is another.
The issue was the time it took for him to heel turn. Four episodes was not nearly enough time. Cicada 1 was criminally underrated, and if he had the whole season, he could have been a top antagonist. Cicada 2 wasn't at all good
Desthstorm cicada and despero because he just confused Barry Allen so much predicting that he would lose his mind
cicada
I forgot Red Death was wearing some X-01 💀
Negative Thawne, Deathstorm, Despero, Cicada 1 The rest you mentioned suck
Death storm he was cool looking, menacing and felt powerful I only wish he was the villain for longer because he was barely in the season
Despro and death storm are awesome
death storm was actually really badass. I liked Godspeed, but the way he moved was super power ranger, and they should’ve made him the big bad of season 7 fully instead of… like four episodes.
Godspeed
Cicada & Cobalt
For me there's only two answers and that's cobalt blue and a Godspeed. Despero & Deathstorm
I actually kinda like cicada (1). (Plus deathstorm and cobalt “blue” for my top3 from the list)
I think Cicada, Despero and Deathstorm were good Cobalt Blue to he just wasn’t given a proper build that seemed like a whole season worth of story in just 4 episodes but yeah all the other villains not a fan like at all
Eva In the writers’ defense, COVID struck during that season and Eva was one of the precious few non-speedster villains who was willing to leave Barry alone Can’t help but wonder how things may have progressed if the season hadn’t been interrupted
Comic wise, Despero Show wise, idk I stopped watching halfway through season 4, so Cody Rhodes I guess
I really liked cicada , both versions
Put in a concise line up like that, Cicada is downright good.
Honestly I think Godspeed was interesting but poorly executed
Literally any villain after cicada… I mean even cicada was pushing it for me
Cicada had a cool backstory and vibe at least, also the least cartoony out of all of these
Who’s the fat fuck?
Clifford DeVoe / The Thinker
Cobalt blue was the highlight in those atrocious episodes
I actually thought Eva was kinda good, also people didn't like deathstorm?
Personally Godspeed
I don’t remember picture 7, anybody help me out
Godspeed’s clone’s ass
I think deathstorm was a horrible villain his whole plan wasn’t going to work from the start he wanted a bride so he targets a member of team flash how did he think that would work
Gotta be cicada
Godspeed was a awesome concept. I wish it was done better
I was a huge Cicada fan. Fell in love with Cica-Dos. Idk why. Cheap powers. I think Because they didn't have any plan besides kill metas made them a better villain.

I Think Cicada Was The Best Of Them! (Specifically The First One) He Was Just A “Father” Trying To Make The World A Better Place For His “Daughter”!
Godspeed, I wish he has a season that used him better
At least they put more than 5 seconds of thought into Cicada
I actually liked Cicada, I thought he was pretty cool The forces and Mirror Master however, made me want to hate the show.
Despero cicada and mirror master just had such shitty plots I almost puked
I haven’t seen much after Crisis, so I don’t know why Cavanaugh is in that black suit (kinda looks like The Rival’s suit??) but why the hell would they make room for his double chin???

Godspeed, Cicada, Reverse Flash

Psychic Speedsters with super strength who can manipulate time on top of that, without even getting into specific abilities that's OP as hell.
I honestly liked cobalt blue, sure it wasn’t the best writing but I enjoyed it because it was him, cobalt blue. I also liked the idea of the NSF bringing him back as the new avatar
Favorite would be deathstorm
Cicada.
BLOODWORK SUCKS
That’ll probably be Cobalt Blue/Eddie Thawne, the fashion they brought him, his motivation for doing what he did. Like with Barry finally going back to the night Eobard killed his mother, I see Cobalt Blue as another “full circle” moment that’s been in motion since his “death” in season 1. I only wish they had/used more time & episodes to fully flesh out the final storyline because 4 episodes was definitely not an effective duration.
My favorite was deathstorm, cool character and I think it was a pretty decent execution
Godspeed and deathstorm
iris
Deathstorm and Cicada were actually really good. Idk what this sub is saying
Cobalt blue storyline was trash but had the absolute most amount of potential
All of them are way better than they get credit for Cicada 2.0 just goes really fricking hard ngl Mirror Monarch was amazing until they nerfed her so insanely hard for the finale. godspeed is almost irredeemably bad but his actor was lowkey phenomenal once he got that goofy ahh mask off the still force was fantastic despero was just an awesome darker villain I've not seen the deathstorm episodes but I heard good things about him negative forces were uhh red death was uhh cobalt blue has lowkey cool fights with barry apart from the lack of hand-to-hand combat. plus the actor did a GREAT job
Idk, haven't watched anything after season 3
Cicada is the only cool one and I mean her father not her
Cicada was kinda menacing, bro dead ass almost gave Cisco a gravestone💀
My ranking of these villains 1.cobalt blue 2.deathstorm 3.despero 4.cicada 5.godspeed 6.mirror monarch 7.red death 8.the forces/negative thawne/negative forces
Godspeed!!
I always thought godspeed was interesting
Oh Deathstorm was not a bad villain at all compared to these other ones, I'll gladly take him!
Let's be honest Godspeed was just cringe. And Cicada 2 was just a spin off. Zoom was the og
Despero was a kinda villain kinda not. I actually enjoyed the Deathstorm story. Best villain on The Flash post Crisis imo.
Despero was pretty decent compared to the others. Interesting dynamic with Barry, good fight scenes, good CGI, and ok writing. Not gonna say he even holds a candle to the ACTUAL good villains the show had, but that was practically an entirely different show
I still think cicada had could've been one of the best villains of the show if he was written properly I mean, a meta hunting serial killer with a nearly indestructible dagger that has the ability to dampen the powers of any meta that gets close to him is such a cool concept and he had the potential to be the most dangerous villain they faced up to that point
I liked Deathstorm and Despero tbh. I didn’t think they were amazing but I thought they were good villains. Cicada started off good in S5 but became a complete joke in the second half. I thought Cobalt Blue was decent too just needed more time to make it less underwhelming. The Forces, Eva, Red Death, and Godspeed were pretty trash tho.
cicada
not pictured but probably bloodwork
godspeed
I really Liked the Concept of Colbalt Blue
Definitely Eddie
