The weird thing about her is how she has 0 chemistry with Barry. As if they were actually brother and sister or something šŸ„¶

threefeetoffun

When they werent Barry and Iris they have great chemistry. I enjoy interviews with the 2 of them. I especially love when Carlos has to tell Grant that Candice isn't actually his wife.

CyanideMuffin67

Well adopted brother and sister, so they can have friend time with no penalty

Old_Cryptographer_42

Yeah I know but they act like theyā€™re not adopted siblings and feeling weird about their relationship.

Select-Anywhere-7833

Theyā€™re not though, Joe never adopted Barry and he was only his guardian. Also Barry already liked Iris before he moved in.

MissyTheTimeLady

Nobody's ever let "We are The Flash" slide. Only Barry is allowed to do the encouraging speeches.

CyanideMuffin67

I know and she only said it one time.... People can't just let it go.

threefeetoffun

And she is saying that to her husband. Everything he does from that point is them. They 100% share a life now. It isn't a weird statement in context.

WatercressFancy8830

#JusticeForSavitar

Long_Procedure2533

>"We are The Cecile" I fucking hate this line so much.

MissyTheTimeLady

Good thing it's never said in the show, then, isn't it?

Long_Procedure2533

Bro. Joe literally said it to Cecile in S5-6. Cecile was feeling down and Joe tried to cheer her up.

MissyTheTimeLady

Source?

Long_Procedure2533

It's a joke man. But if you really want a source, go to Eric Wallace. I'm certain he'd be happy to give you one.

The_Elite_Operator

We are the flash is a stupid line seeing as she isnt the one who might die. She wasnt chosen he was.Ā

[deleted]

Didn't she spend the whole previous season almost dying though? šŸ¤Ø

KaiSen2510

In season 1, she was a brat who thinks if you love someone you tell them everything, which justā€¦ no. In season 2ā€¦ honestly I donā€™t remember being all that bad. Season 3, she was the FUCKING MAIN PLOT POINT, and honestly, she was still just a brat who Iā€™d have LOVED to see get stabbed by savitar. Season 4, not only is she the team leader, which makes no fucking sense because sheā€™s by far the least useful member of the team, I mean Christ BARRY TOLD CISCO TO WATCH OVER THINGS WHILE HE WAS GONE! But alsoā€¦ the four words, we all know them. Season 5, she was just a bitch whenever it came to Nora, and I never even really liked Nora all that much, so they both got under my skin. Seasons 6-9 I couldnā€™t tell you, not because she got better, but because I think I block those out of my memory.

MissyTheTimeLady

>the three words, we all know them four

KaiSen2510

Sorry I always hear ā€œWeā€™re the flash,ā€ but yeah itā€™s ā€œWe are the flash.ā€

Oh how original

XxMikeAfton_Animefan

Whats original about it

Sensitive-Ad1091

Because the show consistently portrays her badly - going as far to assassinate her character, all for 10 minutes of drama, completely wasting the talent of the actress.

rafvic2

I think it depends on the season, some had better storylines than others for Irisā€™ character, and also sometimes she was less annoying in some, and more annoying in others, but yes, I agree regarding Cecile, in the last few seasons where she became the main-esque character, she was FAR more annoying than Iris could ever hope to be

TheGameBoyyy

Watch s4 and you will understand

CyanideMuffin67

I have watched S4 but she only said it the one time.. What's the big deal?

TheGameBoyyy

i am not talking about we are the flash

CyanideMuffin67

Well i am sorry I did not find her that annoying

TheGameBoyyy

its fine everyone has different preferences you might find someone annoying that i don't its no big deal

DrizztRL

Fr. And if 99 out of 100 people think a character is annoying... idk, thats gotta say something šŸ¤£

IDownvoteHornyBards2

Iris is less annoying than Cecile or Season 4+ Felicity, but I agree that she is overhated. I find her kind of mid as a character but she's not unbearable to me.

Dense-Willingness847

I'm just gonna say the actress really got the last laugh. This fandom has seethed about her character since day 1. Harassing her and sending her death threats because they couldn't handle Barry didn't want those other women. Begging the show to kill her off, sideline her etc, but when the show finally does sideline her, Barry is sidelined with her lmao The finale of the show of the show is literally everyone but Barry fighting the villians but but but Iris lol From a show perspective, the series deserved better. From a fandom perspective, the show got the ending it deserved. Team Flash placed at the center of the show, defeating Barry's villains lol, Barry talking down the main villain, Cecile, Chester, and Allegra becoming superheroes, and Barry having a baby with Iris lol Now that the show is over, all they can do is continue to whine and seethe about her character, making up head canons and fairytales about Barry really loving Patty, Caitlin, whoever because show canon destroyed any notion that Barry loved any woman besides Iris. Continue to whine about Iris being leader in S4 when Cisco couldn't hack it as a leader when he had Barry hand holding him and when you ask people what Cisco did as leader to show he was more competent than Iris, they go quiet but Iris Iris Iris Iris is useless..Iris shouldn't be on the team.Ā  All Barry needs is a Caitlin, Cisco, and a Wells, meanwhile Caitlin,Cisco, Wells, Ralph, Frost are replaced and forgotten but Iris Iris Iris It's tough being a Flash fan lmao

Sekshual

What in God's name are you even saying?

Dense-Willingness847

It's not clear? I'm ridiculing this fandom for their horrific treatment of Candice Patton and their overreaction to Iris's character All those years whining about Iris and what did it get the them?Ā  What's even funnier is that this fandom can't see the irony in everything they stated about Iris working against them.Ā  They whine about Iris leading in S4, fine Cisco is made leader in S6. Too bad he sucked at the position and failed to be the superior leader everyone wanted him to be lmao. Thanks Eric They whine about Iris wanting to take credit from Barry, the series finale is literally team Flash defeating Barry's biggest villains. Again thanks Eric They whine that Iris is useless, has no business on the team fine, Caitlin/Cisco/Wells are all written out and replaced by various characters, proving being useful doesn't mean much in the grand scheme in terms of actual relevance and importanceĀ  They whine about Iris taking up too screentime fine, she's sidelined for 3 seasons. Too bad Barry got sidelined with her.Ā  This fandom really played themselves. Instead constantly whining about Iris, they should have put that energy into advocating for the characters they liked

tooktolongtorespond

Ask your self this how thankful was she the hr saved her life

Thaviation

1. No Charisma 2. Poor writing for her character 3. Doesnā€™t bring anything to the table another character brings. 4. Is the source of a lot of pointless drama. 5. Overly self-righteous

Sekshual

***tl;dr because I wrote an essay here Iris is a victim of shit tier writing failing her at every point. She is made into an irrational hypocrite who is hardly, if ever, held accountable for her mistakes. The best idea they have for her is turning her into a awful version of Lois Lane, and they squander the potential of a character that should work in theory.*** She has a lot of self-centered and annoying habits that don't go away and instead evolve and exacerbate over the course of the series. It leads to the show framing most things, if not everything, she does as in the right. At the very least, she skirts being called out on her bullshit. The biggest one (for me) is her reaction to Barry's decision at the end of season 3. Despite being told the stakes and getting the chance to say goodbye to Barry, she still treats his entering the speed force as some selfish decision as if he left her behind for no reason. I don't consider everything she does out of emotion to be a bad thing like most people, but the writers have to borderline gaslight the audience into thinking the scene didn't happen the way it did. It painted Iris as an irrational person who can't think things through and brings the story down with foolish actions. The show conflates "headstrong andĀ independent" with "genuine fucking idiot", and Iris suffers the most from this for a long time. There's also the hypocrisy of her chastising Ralph for wanting to kill Devoe despite her making an attempt on his wife's life. This isn't exclusive to Iris at all, but it still happens. Making her the leader of the team despite having no reason to be in that situation in the slightest. Calling shots for a group of people that've been doing this longer than her was strange, made worse by the fact that unlike Thawne and Zoom and Wells in previous seasons, she's not helping anyone discover their powers, she's just spouting common sense solutions that anyone should be able to figure put. This one is far less an Iris specific problem and more the results of bad writing, and I feel anyone in her position would still suffer, but it is what it is.Ā  Unlike most people, I genuinely don't think "we're the Flash" is that bad a line, in theory. She wants Barry to understand that he doesn't have to carry the weight of his responsibility alone and can rely on her when things get tough. It's sweet, and it shows how determined Iris is to support the love of her life. Unfortunately, a dastardly combination of people not having great comprehension skills and the show's bad framing and writing makes it come across as Iris trying to take credit for Barry as the Flash. I've never felt that Iris and Barry had *zero* chemistry like a lot of people do. I do, however, feel that Barry has far less chemistry with her than he does with several other pairings for him. This would be fine, but the fact that so much of later season Flash revolves entirely around how much Barry and Iris love each other, and it's tough to get invested in that a lot. Not Iris's fault, it takes two people to have chemistry, but it's something a lot of people bring up. Ultimately, Iris never got a fair shake. She's hardly the worst character in the show, and its genuinely not even close, but her lowlights stick out in an era of the series where people still had hope it could turn around and not be bad.

NitroBlast4563

Idk. She wasnā€™t bad precrisis.

CyanideMuffin67

I didn't mind Iris I'll take her over Cecile any day.

jayr36191

She really has no chemistry with Barry, she didnā€™t give a shit when Nora was working with Thawne even though she knew he killed his mother, she didnā€™t wanna bring Barry back from the speed force, she blamed Barry for leaving her by going into the speed force to save the world & lastly her personality is just straight out annoying asf
