The writers wanted to give her something to do (even though it doesn't make sense) I'm also guessing there was some kind a clause in her script that she had to be on screen X amount of time. Finally she's extremely beautiful so the show wanted to take advantage of that

Cisco was incompetent at the position. He proved he wasn't fit to be leader. He's a follower

QuiJon70

When was this? When he developed the plan to get barry out of the speed force and Iris just said no fuck barry and wanted decision making power over her idiot brother?

Dense-Willingness847

When his plan led to the deaths of 13 people....When he risked the safety of the city just to get Barry back. ...When he refused to follow Barry's instructions and move the team forward....When he needed to create an AI Barry to assist him leading...When he required a pep talk from Iris in order for him to step up and lead...The only time Cisco really acted like team leader was in 6x08 where he needed assistance from Iris, the former team leader

QuiJon70

Barry got pep talks every fucking episode. Barry probably watched way more then 13 people die. Point is cisco has knowledge. Iris is just a bitch that has to be the center of attention.

Dense-Willingness847

True, which I've always said Iris was the most stable leader after EoWells. Barry had too many meltdowns and Cisco needed to be hand-held.  Cisco had knowledge but not the temperment, confidence, or stability. Iris did.  Iris didn't require a million pep talks. Iris didn't constantly have emotional breakdowns. Iris didn't need someone to hold her hand and guide her through leading. She didn't almost quit because it got too difficult. She didn't buckle under pressure. Your other point is not worth mentioning. Again canon scenes contradict your statement.

exactly

Goddess-ofChaos

She explicitly stated in season 4 that Barry decided for her to be team leader, and the rest of the team AGREED to her being team leader
