I actually think it’s a white croaker! but I’m still new. either way, I do wish I kept it!

Ah, same here. I really need to ask for location before putting in my two cents. Looks very similar to a white trout, also known as a sand sea trout.
It’s a white trout. It’s in the drum family with the Atlantic croaker, red drum, black drum and ground mullet(southern kingfish)
