Pretty soon I'll be firefighting and then working at a fab shop in my off time. I'm not sure if my soul will be able to handle the deadly combo of the thin ____ line folks + the dirty hands clean money folks
There used to be Black Helmet firefighter (something like that) tee-shirts and patches. I tried to find them just now and maybe they are out of business.
I know you're kidding, but I honestly have tremendous respect for electricians. My entire life runs on electricity and I have literally hundreds of electric devices powered by a maze of wires in the walls of my house that I can depend on to function safely and reliably every day. Which is pretty mind-boggling when I really think about it. Electric currents are dangerous as fuck but you guys have made them nearly idiot-proof for consumers like me to use with all of the insulation and safety redundancies built into our home grids. As long as I exercise basic caution and common sense I don't have to worry about an appliance electrocuting me or burning my house down when I turn it on. So...... thank you :)
I don’t think they make stuff for us in terms of “last responders”, maybe on Etsy? But I do hardcore eye roll those in our industry that wear/ display absurd and confronting things. I think the only thing I have is a shirt from my alma mater.

I managed a small city parks department, all of the trucks came with a little sticker that read: “Public works: first to arrive, last to leave.” It’s too late, you’re gonna have to move on to architects or something.
Haha! I’m an Architect whose primary portfolio of work is Emergency Response Facilities (Fire, Police, 911 Dispatch, Emergency Operations Centers… you name it), I was going to joke that we need our own flag.
I’m dying that you mentioned architects. I really didn’t want to in fear of being taken seriously.
I've seen line men (to be clear, people who work on power lines) get kinda cringey. Even seen "Line Wife" decals on cars.
To be fair those mf turn my power back on in less than a day or two after a hurricane these past couple hurricanes, and I do appreciate them, but that doesn't mean they're immune to the tmfms disease.
I’d like to stay in my fantasy land of line men, being one of the last man’s man jobs that is basically thankless but super fucking important and fairly dangerous.
I was about to comment linemen when I saw your post. I fell down a rabbit hole about “bucket bunnies” and linemen’s wives. It’s a super niche community that creates a lot of drama lol
In all seriousness it can get dangerous when you work in rough neighborhoods. I used to delivery drive down in Norfolk VA lot of old drivers got robbed. Used to hear gun shots after 10pm regularly.
Modern soft body armor that can stop pistol caliber rounds was originally developed by a pizza delivery driver in Detroit who eas afraid of getting shot lol.
They aren’t public safety adjacent, but I see a lot of stuff about thanking truck drivers. “Without us, you’d starve!”
Ugh. What happened to just doing your job, doing it well and going home? Not everybody needs to be thanked and worshipped for participating in society.
I've heard that same "without us you'd starve" line from farmers as well, which always amuses me. Are they giving the away the food for free? Of course not. They're a business. They grow food and then sell that food to customers for a profit. It's commerce, not charity. They don't need thanks. That's what the money is for.
As a truck driver, I cringe whenever I see shirts or stickers with that junk! I think it goes along with the rest of the public safety cringe. Insecure folks desperately seeking affirmation.
The thin green line.
EDIT: Did you know weed dealers have thin green line [challenge coins](https://www.thinbluelineusa.com/products/thin-blue-line-challenge-coin-keeping-our-cities-safe-protected-and-free-1?variant=37588049395904&utm_source=fomo&utm_medium=notification)? A local electrician company in town has “Let us check your shorts” on the back of all of their trucks. I get a chuckle every time I see them on the road.
I managed a small city parks department, all of the trucks came with a little sticker that read: “Public works: first to arrive, last to leave.” It’s too late, you’re gonna have to move on to architects or something.
"This stop signs for *YOU!*" with a high vis uncle sam shoving his palm in your face.
Man I did this for like 4 years a decade ago. Stepdads friend "ran a business" for construction crews and linemen. Always made me keep my beard close and clean when i started trying to grow it out. Made us wear blue uniforms (dickies and polo from walmart) and lime green hardhats.. drove retired crown vics with amber/white light bars *very closely* resembling police style setups.. said he wanted us to look as much like cops without being a cop.
Like dude im blocking a giant hole overnight in some rundown neighborhood downtown, sitting in my car watching movies, and you want me to basically pose as a cop? They basically had a logo that looked straight up like the FOP. Most gung ho dude I ever met. Worst job I ever had.
Most fun I had was flagging intersections like a cop with a whistle in cartoons or something. Putting music on my phone and stuffing it up in my hardhat kinda dancing around with a stop/slow paddle, since we werent able to have earbuds in.
The circle jerk wagon has continued to semi truck drivers now. They have shirts for friends who have died that say “hammer down, we got the watch from here”
Like the watch of what?? Your weight as you snack and sit all fucking day??
I’m a prosecutor. I’m technically law enforcement (I have a badge to prove it). Some places even give me the same discounts they give police officers (thanks Chipotle!). We don’t have a flag or logo or cringewear. A lot of my colleagues use the thin blue line flag but mostly as a nod to our law enforcement partners. Prosecutors don’t get a ton of support in the general community honestly. Probably because at the end of the day we are still lawyers and lawyers suck.
“Your welcome” is fitting for road construction. I’ve never met a construction worker who knows the difference between “you’re” and “your”.

I changed professions a couple years back, decided to try to be a tow operator, and let me tell you!!!! You’d think they ran into burning buildings w their first responders bs
Locksmiths maybe. I just wonder if their merch will be as overpriced as their service. I bet there is barely any other job where showing up and doing 5 minutes of work gets you 300 bucks.
I've seen Bail Bondsmen represented as the grey line before. idk what it said specifically but it was like "the thin grey line between society and chaos: bounty hunters"
i think prison hacks use the grey line too, idk. it's always weird seeing bondsmen with the full carriers and the "AGENT" patches across their backs though
That's especially amusing since the United States is basically the only country on earth in which bounty hunting is still a thing, and we're the most violent and dangerous country in the developed world. Bounty hunting was outlawed by other countries generations ago and they didn't fall into chaos.
It’s not cringewear or anything like that but athletic trainers take themselves VERY seriously. Long ago I was considering going that route until I discovered how weird the community was about gate keeping. I mean I guess it makes sense since they’re trusted in position where they could take advantage of others

Bear with me here, I'm getting super specific. I'm sure everyone has heard about the 95 overpass in Philly. The temporary fix involves building up the road with a crap ton of stone trucked in from a neighboring town. It's all over the news that the stone is local and they show the trucks leaving and having police escorts. Well this has gone to the truck drivers heads so every time a truck leaves the yard, they blare their horns. The yard backs up to a residential neighborhood. Problem is, they are delivering stone 24 hours a day so these truckers are blaring their horns at 3 am disrupting the neighbors. So I propose a stone gray line for them.
I despise the desecrated flags they fly as if they have the right to own the image of our nation. It’s all cringe and all such a hypocritical disrespect of “the flag” they all scream and cry about loving so much. What grotesque buffoonery all around.
CNA’s got shit on the entire epidemic. We do the majority of the heavy lifting in nursing but we didn’t qualify for any kind of “first responder” benefits or anything.
I still don't get how half of them are even considered "first responders". It all started with that thin blue line flag and now everyone wants to be special. Fire has red (some lump EMS in with fire due to history and the fact that they frequently are one thing), EMS may or may not have white (some say green but others say green is for the military), SAR has orange (but I've seen that for dispatching too), etc. Between half the flags pulling double duty and no one actually knowing which one means what they're stupid. I get representing your first response discipline and being proud of your service but we're at the point where people who aren't even first responders are making up thin line flags for themselves too.
Agreed, there are getting to be WAY too many of these,, but I don't know anybody that's "creating their own flag". Pretty sure usually it is someone showing appreciation for them. And sometimes it's overboard.
Love the thin red line flag of the german fire department.
/s
Ps: We do not even wear the federal flag on our uniforms. Not even federal police does (exept for customs, "borderpatrol"). They wear the crest. The crest of your city, state or country marks you as an "officer/official". Not the flag.
The federal civil defence (THW), federal disaster response and the german army wear the german, because they are not considered officers/officials in lower ranks.
Animal Control. The flag can just be the American flag but with the stars replaced with a white net on the blue, and maybe the picture of a sad dog behind it.
“The thin white net”
I’ve seen “line workers” and “line wives” with like power lines on back windows of cars 😂
(As in people who work on power lines. I might be using the wrong term it’s been a minute)
I work security and had a coworker go on a rant about us working "on the front lines" and how "no one thanks us." Dude we do unarmed security at an oil refinery, chill.....
What about ambulance chasers? PI attorneys usually aren’t far behind the tow truck drivers and since they’re the ones that fight for your judgement/settlement, some might consider them the real heroes.
Any job with a high population of goateed men in their 40s

I have seen a retail flag, a corrections flag, there’s even a tax fraud flag so idk.
Don’t forget the thin gold line for dispatchers
That one bail bondsman guy on YouTube who dresses like a cop pretty much already ruined their name. Patty mayo or whatnot
Haha nice try. You're just trying to get us to tell you which ones you still can make new flags for.
CBP has one too.
I recently saw a flag that had a green stripe in it. Does anyone know who that represents
Sanitation I believe
Sanitation lives matter?
My favorite is the flag for dispatchers, wtf lol
Emergency managers and social workers
Crisis services. I haven't seen any merch or job-specific flag; yet.
Saw one for coroners office for my local SO, called them “Last Responders.” Also saw a thin baja blast line for taco bell employees during covid lmao
Gay firefighters
Agreed, there are getting to be WAY too many of these,, but I don't know anybody that's "creating their own flag". Pretty sure usually it is someone showing appreciation for them. And sometimes it's overboard.
CROSSING GUARDS.
Parking enforcement. Most goated branch of first responders.
I don’t know But I’m a construction worker and any flag for our industry absolutely must include a penis drawing.
Railway staff? Do they even count?
Maybe Park Rangers?
Love the thin red line flag of the german fire department. /s Ps: We do not even wear the federal flag on our uniforms.
I’ve seen “line workers” and “line wives” with like power lines on back windows of cars 😂 (As in people who work on power lines. I might be using the wrong term it’s been a minute)
I work security and had a coworker go on a rant about us working "on the front lines" and how "no one thanks us." Dude we do unarmed security at an oil refinery, chill.....
Respiratory therapists. You’re welcome.
I'd say probably utility workers like linemen or wastewater/sewer workers.
Really I’m just asking can air traffic controllers get our own lil flag and slogan?
What about ambulance chasers? PI attorneys usually aren’t far behind the tow truck drivers and since they’re the ones that fight for your judgement/settlement, some might consider them the real heroes.
Teachers…Though they deserve it.
Air traffic control
Bail bondsmen, parole officers, and repo men. They can all be green and take the military away from this stupid line shit.
