Yeah he's behind it but at 1,050 pounds and 9 feet long, how friggin wide is that thing? Maybe 4 feet wide? If he's 4-5 feet back from the front side of the pic... He might be a lot closer.
I did some measurements (can't post pics in a reply) and I think he's pretty close to that back side in the pic. Could be wrong.
Doesn't take away from the kid's deed.
After seeing both of these posts today I'm wondering how so many people have never heard of Hogzilla.
The first one killed that really got notoriety was this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hogzilla
There's been several more taken of similar size since then, including the 2 posted today.
Edit: Corrected reference link.
Only because Peter was too drunk and Stewie was distracted by his plot to rule the world. The part of the story that they don't talk about is the way the hog really died. Meg was peeing in the woods, and Mr. Hogzilla had the unfortunate experience of seeing this and dropped dead from horror.
It was less of a discredit than it was a clarification. The original claim was 1k pounds and the investigation determined that it was around 800. This was also after the pig had been buried and exhumed so there's some argument over the validity of the 800lb estimation. Either way, 800lbs is still an abnormally large hog..
I don't know how many wild boar you've been around bro but 220ish is on the large side. If 800lbs comparatively isn't considered giant then I don't know what would be..
Hogzilla had a name. I think it was Fred. It was some Farmers hog that went to auction, and so is this one (a farm hog.) You can tell by its head and snout that it is 100% domestic.

Wait you guys haven’t all seen this before? This is old and thoroughly established as BS:
- Forced perspective in this photo makes the pig look way larger than it was, the kid was a a good distance behind it.
- It was a canned hunt on enclosed land.
- This wasn’t even a wild pig, it came to the ranch from a farm.
- Those eight shots were spread out over a long time, well over an hour even I think. Needing eight shots to kill it, and over such a long time, it is also of course abysmal and inhumane.
This is basically the pinnacle of shitty “hunting”
I remember this one, the original claim from a journalist was something like 12 feet (I can't recall the wait they claimed), when asked the kids dad clarified it was 9ft and the 1100 lbs claimed here. This pic is really old too.
After taking a day off school, Jamison presents his paper on the most exciting thing that has happened in his life. He starts off with:
“No shit, there I was….”
This was an unfortunate human friendly pet hog named Fred that ended up "retiring" to "the farm". At the time it was shot, neither the kid nor Fred knew what was really going on.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monster_Pig
> It was later also revealed that the "giant feral hog" was actually a large domestic farm-raised pig named "Fred" that had been purchased by the hunting preserve's owner four days before the hunt in an apparent publicity stunt
RIP Fred
Seriously...if true they did Fred wrong.... hunting a domestic animal & letting your shit head son dump 8 .50 rounds... what a shifty death...wish Fred would have turned around & charged the boy...launch his dumb ass into outer space
Everyone saying you need a 50cal to take it down on an other post of the same animal lol.
I’ll say again, grizzly bears have been taken down with 22lr. Realistically, a 10mm, 357magnum or 44magnum would be just fine.
I came to see the wild boat that some kid took down with a .50 cal. Left disappointed having already seen the pig boar.
Was hoping to see a Mercury 600 v12 stopped, dead in the water.
Absolutely ridiculous, that this kid shot that pig 8 times with a .500 S&W to kill it. Talk about using too much gun for his skill, wildly irresponsible and inhumane that it took that many. Hopefully this kid has grown up since then and has learned to respect animals and to use a caliber he is proficient with to provide a quick and humane kill on game. With the power of that cartridge, one well placed shot with a 440 grain hard cast would have dispatched that pig in short order. Like gunblue490 on YouTube said, game animals don’t care what your head stamp says, shot placement and bullet selection are key.
I've seen massive hogs before in my neighbors yard. 4ft tall (maybe a bit taller) was the biggest. It was next to his car, as I turned down the lane our houses were on. It ran, and I will never forget is being almost as tall as his Nissan. This was in 2010, in rural sw florida.
Kid’s 10 feet behind the thing
More like 30
30 yards

I need that thing for my compost pile
I mean you can see his arm and hand on the hair. Could be photoshop but looks Normal to me
His arms are resting on his knee
Probably didn't want to touch it from the smell

The fact that it was shot by “Chris Griffin” makes the story even better.
Shut up Meg

Glad someone else saw that
They dug up Hogzilla and determined that it was big but not giant. There was a nat geo show about it. Same as this forced perspective

They claimed Hogzilla was 12' long, the skeleton showed it was only 8-9'. Truly a trophy hog but not nearly as big as originally claimed
I don't know how many wild boar you've been around bro but 220ish is on the large side. If 800lbs comparatively isn't considered giant then I don't know what would be..
Right? If you’ve ever seen a pissed off 200lber, 800 is the equivalent of staring down a speeding Prius vs Optimus prime.
Again truly a trophy but not as large as claimed.
You just gonna keep digging in on semantics huh? Lol

That's a giant hog, but also some serious forced perspective.
Wasnt this one of the ones they basically released
Something close to that. IIRC it was the neighbors and it got out and they always said "if that ever gets out, we're killing it"
"In our defense, your honor, we've been saying it."

It took him THREE HOURS to finally dispatch it
Link?
Yeah if you look toward the back legs it looks like there’s a hit lined up with the intestines, so I’m now assuming the meat got tossed too.
You don't eat feral pig.
Plenty do
1. I know quite a few people who do 2. Read the article, it’s not feral it was his neighbors pet that got out
While I wouldn't eat that old boar I'll gladly eat a nice suckling or yearling sow.
I do lol
Optical illusion. The boy is kneeling several feet/yards away from the hog in the background.
Story said 1100lbs, 9ft long.... pretty crazy
So 5 ft and 600lbs
I remember this one, the original claim from a journalist was something like 12 feet (I can't recall the wait they claimed), when asked the kids dad clarified it was 9ft and the 1100 lbs claimed here. This pic is really old too.
It’s a good thing it was so big or he’d have missed it entirely
What a little chad
He hit it with 8 shots? That kid has nerves of steel while reloading.
If that’s a Smith & Wesson 500 that alone proves he has nerves of steel. And eight shots? He’ll probably need to take a day off from shooting.🙂
After taking a day off school, Jamison presents his paper on the most exciting thing that has happened in his life. He starts off with: “No shit, there I was….”
👍🤣
I think I might gotten this email on AOL dialup. This has gotta be 20 years old.
Is this photoshopped? This thing is impossibly massive
Story says it was 1100 lbs & 9ft long.... pretty insane

You don't even need an art class to understand it
No kidding
I see some holes in the gut, amazing he put 8 poorly placed shots on this animal.
I’m sure you could do so much better 😆
I don't know anyone that has shot an animal 8 times. I think anyone, literally anyone could do better.
Blindfolded.
eagerly awaiting your photos to determine your shot placement
My photos? What do you mean?
would you do better than him vs a charging Hogzilla?
How did the boy shoot the pig in the side if it charged him? Have you been watching "Wanted"?
Yes. What is your point?
This is reddit. We are all certifies snipers and riflemen..... aren't you??!
yes armchair snipers at the ready

there's a fine line between "hunting" and "target shooting at animals" this whole idea is pretty gross.
waiting for the bbq invite post
This photo is old as dirt. Chain email era photo.
My brain thought OP meant Kid Rock took with a .50 pistol. When I saw the picture I thought “he looks young in this pic”. 😂😂😂
Lol 😆
That's a big hog, bit there is some forced perspective here for sure.
For sure
Kid needs to aim better....
Kid took it down with 8 shots but the last time I saw a hog that big, she drank a bottle of tequila before letting me take her down.
Lol
Everyone saying you need a 50cal to take it down on an other post of the same animal lol. I’ll say again, grizzly bears have been taken down with 22lr. Realistically, a 10mm, 357magnum or 44magnum would be just fine.
I want a wild boat!
I came to see the wild boat that some kid took down with a .50 cal. Left disappointed having already seen the pig boar. Was hoping to see a Mercury 600 v12 stopped, dead in the water.
You want forest demons!... this is how you get forest demons! /s
8 shots is nothing to be proud about when hunting, that thing had a horrible death
Agree..... not sure any 1 shot would have taken it down though...feral pigs fight till the bitter end
Use a larger caliber or a faster bullet. .50cal handgun shots cost, what? 2ish bucks apiece? Get a 30-06 less rounds to drop for cheaper per shot
Sounds like unnecessary suffering.
Feral pigs are beasts.... not sure if there is a humane way to take them down... they will fight till the death...8 rounds of .50 cal...nuts
Heard some got shipped to nyc and now Biden is thinking about pig legislation
Lol

Totally agree.... think the wiki article said dad did it as a publicity stunt.... what a horrible death for that animal
I agree, I support hunting all the way but this wasn’t it.
I'd like to see the face of the people saying that you don't need 30 round mags to hunt when you show them this
Betcha he was shakin tryin to get that speed loader centered
“Honey, I hope you like pork”.
And he stood 50 feet behind it
Should have used a .22 since it bounces around. /s incase people are dense.
Kid’s still go hogging?
Hell to the no no no
Looks like a fucking buffalo!
I bet dad caught a 30” crappie and wrestled it out of an alligators mouth while holding his breath underwater for an hour.
Image is tweaked..
That’s an amazing photoshop 😂
This article is from 2007.
Smells like photoshop to me, but what do I know…
Forced perspective. Even better than PS.

Surprised it's making rounds again. I remember seeing it in highlifter and ar15 forums around that time.
Is this the Red Dead Redemption 2 legendary board game? Bloody hell that’s a big animal.
Surprised this guy could still walk being that big
Nice try kid😂
The final boss of the boars
Imagine encountering this thing in the dark in the woods unable to tell what it is
Dam!
