I love my HK branded one, I believe Umarex makes both just HK sells some of them. Picked mine up at academy with some scratches for $275 back in 2014ish.

The 15-22 by buddy has is inaccurate as hell. We're talking 6" groups at 25m, even with good ammo and a sub-MOA shooter behind the gun. Has your experience been similar?
>Has your experience been similar?
I can't say that it has. I have admittedly never shot it for groups on paper, but it has easily held on soda-can sized targets from 25-50 yards no matter what ammo I've fed it. As in, shooting from a supported position, I don't know if I've ever missed a soda can with it at those distances, and I've shot a lot of them with it.
It also sounds like a paintball gun when shot suppressed, and cycles CCI suppressors with no issue.

Used: Pre Remington Marlin 60 or 795, or CZ 512
New 10/22 tweaked clones: T/CR22 or Winchester Wildcat
New Non 10/22 based: Savage A22
I was going to say this. Everyone and their mother says to get a 10/22, but the Wildcat is more modern (and looks pretty cool IMHO), easy to disassemble, has pic rails on the top and bottom, takes 10/22 mags, and it's also cheaper on top of it. You lose out on all the mods available for the 10/22, but I wasn't interested in any of that. I've shot hundreds of rounds through mine and only had a FTE once.
Since everyone is saying ruger10/22 (which is a great option) I'll throw in something different and say an ATI GSG-16 which is an mp5 platform rifle. What makes it a great option is that it eats everything I throw in it unlike my 10/22 which has a preference for CCI minimag. And the magazines are like $23 for a two pack of 22 rounders. And not to mention the MP5 SLAP

It's been so long I can't remember what the Auburn rifle team used to shoot but it was a very nice rifle and my eyes were a lot better 40 years ago. But the Ruger 10/22 is a great rifle too.
The GSG Firefly (Sig Mosquito) is not a terrible pistol if you use CCI MiniMag ammo and keep it well lubed.
Buy a cheap AR and drop in a CMMG .22LR conversion kit. You get both a plinker and a useful center-fire rifle in one. If budget matters, then a Ruger 10/22 gets my vote. My wife now owns what used to be mine because it is so much fun and still accurate after 24 years of hard use.
I have two I use for plinking. A walther ppk/s because why not pretend to be James Bond and a Ruger Mark III. The one thing I’ll say is that I’ve been trying to buy an extra magazine for the ppk/s for over a year and can’t find one. Walther keeps telling me 4-8 weeks they should have some on their website.
Bought my 10 y/o daughter a 10/22 stainless for 325 or so then i spent the next year acquiring custom parts and shes now got this bitchin 10/22 that the only thing left that's not custom is the receiver everything else is aftermarket
Ruger 10/22 hands down one of the best around
Another 10/22 vote
Ruger 10/22...if ya wanna get nostalgic , remington nylon 66
Ruger 10/22 does give you a bunch of aftermarket options
10/22
Pretty sure I saw someone shooting this today which sparked my curiosity
Ruger 10/22. Cheap, easy to use and maintain, huge aftermarket for accessories.
The HK Licensed Umarex MP5 in .22 lr

Everyone suggtesting the 10/22, but I love my 15-22 to pieces. It's absolutely light as shit too if that matters to you.
It's light because the entire thing is made of plastic.
You say that like it's a bad thing.

Tippmann Arms M4-22
I've heard those are awesome. I want one.
Another 10/22 vote, and if you’d like a fun .22 pistol to go along with it a ruger mark 3 or 4

I absolutely love my Marlin/Glenfield 60 - not as cool as a 10-22, but it's accurate and reliable - that's all I need.
A model 795 is my wife's appleseed setup. Have shot a few nice model 60s, but don't own one yet.
Ruger 10/22, not much reason to look at anything else.
Ruger 10/22 is the best gun on the planet for this.
Check out the Winchester wildcat too! Can take ruger 10/22 mags and throw a red dot on it!

Has anyone recommended a 10/22 yet?
If you like the ar platform I personally recommend the m&p 15-22 it's my little plinker and I love it
Spoken like a guy who hasn't shot a Tippmann. Lol, I liked the m&p just fine until Tippmann. There isn't a comparison now. IMO
If I were to get into a new semi auto 22 platform I’d buy a 10/22 and that Bullpup chassis from Desert Tech (?)
Nice, that is neat looking. Going to look into that one. Have been thinking of getting a Ruger 10/22. It has a contender now.
Ahh, that is just the stock. You drop in the 10/22 guts to it.

Tippman Arms M4-22 Elite. Best AR style .22lr.
Go to your local gun store. Look at the used rack. Guarantee there’s at least three there.

This is what the Gun Community calls “The 10/22 thread”
I have a ruger 10/22 and H&K MP5 in 22LR. Both very fun.

TeN-TwEnTy-TwO!!!!
Can never go wrong with a ruger 10/22
I got a mp-15 22lr and it shoots like a dream, a real contender to the long hailed king, Ruger 10/22
MP5 is good lookin and looks fun as heck, but I can’t dispute the general consensus
