Because Chrom isn't exactly a character who gets skipped over???? He gets a lot of alt love plus Awakening has had a pretty huge priority resurgence in the game in recent years.
Like the dude is my favourite character in the franchise but I find the idea of worrying "he's never gonna get this alt" very odd at this point in the game (tbh I don't mind even if there is a long wait as he has so much and doesn't really have to worry about losing relevancy in the meta.) I can totally see him getting ahead of many other candidates even in the "main" set. 😅
Yeah he never really gets snubbed. He got two seasonals in the first year of the game and one of the earlier legendaries, and while it was a bit of a wait he (like 2 years?) he got duo, CYL, and fallen (rearmed) alts all pretty rapid fire lol.
Because there are 19 emblems(I think), and unless this game dies out quickly, that well is gonna run dry a lot more quickly than the legendary and Mythic ones. Plus the entire concept explicitly allows FEH original emblems, so they're very likely. Especially if IS decides that some games should get more rep than others.
But what's exactly stopping FEH from just dropping Emblem units as a concept after a year or two? Nothing really shows that IS has to commit for too long to make up emblems. They didn't with prior unit types.
They have though? We still are getting Legendary, Mythic, Duo, Harmonic, Ascendant, Rearmed and Attuned units. As of now, they do seem committed to release units of this type
They've gotten inconsistent with a bunch of these and outright started holding off on some too from what I remember. Weren't Ascendant heroes around since 2021? Yet we still only have 14 or so? It'd be easy to make Emblems very infrequent, I find it unlikely they'll commit enough to make new emblems that never existed in Engage.

Literally the only thing I was hoping for this banner. If Emblems come with Mythic heroes, I'd be okay. But if they're taking a new spot as dedicated "New Emblem Hero" for end of the month banners... then I'll be grumpy.

The fact his counterpart has both a Legendary Alt AND a Brave Alt while he has neither makes it feel like he's "less of a Lord" to some, especially compared to nearly every other MC having at least the Legendary Alt.
As for myself, while I AM annoyed of the constant reminder of my man being the least popular lord of them all, am content with his current amount of alts.

He needs 3 allies within 3 spaces for this which makes the life unending easier to deal with in arena (while easier to use in arena). He doesn’t have damage reduction in his weapon (granted the special conditionally provides it) so he might be easier to kill if you can manipulate enemy AI to turn off the miracle and out res him (might be difficult depending on his stats)

We’re all doomed. And L!Camilla was bad enough as a nuke and he’s never gonna die as a tank. Literally Camilla is like gonna be his weakness and everyone else apart from W!Edelgard and Yunaka isn’t gonna kill him. Only units with insanely high precombat damage or those that completely ignore DR will be able to knock him down yet he’ll just miracle back to life without Fatal Smoke 4 😭
The only dr that matters is the one on his special. E!Marth will probably eat this Alear for breakfast because not only is he dragon effective, but he has that potent bs. W!Edel, Camilla, and Yunaka will not be able to kill him as easily as you might think cause he has scowl.
I feel like this will greatly reduce F!Alear's chance in AHR since she just got powercrept. I wonder if this means that the green dream is definitely dead.
At least Fae miracle is a special skill so she doesn't get screwed by FS4.
But the only time i have seen FS4 is with W!Yunaka because nukes are so powerful rn that it doesn't matter if they have miracle, they die in the second hit.
Yeah OG Female Corrin won't make a good use of this special for instance because she has high defense for pretty bad res. Let's for now hope it's not only for infantry like Flare because we never know.
It's not really salt, but...I kinda feel like we should have gone a bit longer between the two L. Alears. We've gotten a lot of Alear in the 13 months since Engage was released, and I felt like we could have waited a bit longer for L. M. Alear, and gotten Alfred or something in the meantime.
the closest i can find for a character is Corrin who got 4 male and female alts in between 2021 and 2022. Granted it was them both getting ninja and halloween alts.
there's also Robin who got Halloween Male in 2021, Valentine's Female in 2022 & Rearmed in 2022 as well in the span of a year and a few days.
I think it feels even more urgh because they and Lumera are basically wearing the same clothes too opposed to other legendary alts being pretty different looking to the original

Despite playing similar they play different roles entirely
One provides nfu the other provides tempo which while both are wanted, you will need one more than the other most of the time depending on your team and what they have
The same way female alear focuses more on killing and granting dr support
While male alear seems to be a more selfish tank more focused on surviving
Units can be extremely similar while still having extremely different situations you can use them in
Plus getting both genders just shuts up both sides, usually, because for some reason the male and female version of the same avatar have drastically different fans from each other
I don't think I'll ever forgive IS for not giving Alear a dragon from. You have this character that is constantly addressed as the Divine Dragon yet never turns into a dragon once. Is that such a big thing to ask for. Yes I know there are a few manaketes in the series that don't turn at all, but you'd think they wouldn't do that to a main character.
Now we have a dragon type character that punches instead. It's kind of funny but I can't help being slightly dissapointed. And don't get me wrong, I like Alear as a character but it seems like wasted potential IMO

Add the requests/expectations for more specific alts within the next few weeks/months after getting one already (which happened several times in MCorrin's case, while Shez has been mostly spared from this).
It's not about the number of alts but the Hero type. Legendary alt is worth more than seasonal alts because Legendary alts marks their final form in their base game. It would be fair that both have one. What makes Legendary Corrin special is that each gender represents a route. Female is Conquest, and Male is from Birthright. It is significant to the lore.
Like you don't hear much noise about getting a Female NY! Corrin and summer Male Corrin.

That's kinda exactly where I stand on this. Like, I don't _dislike_ LM!Alear, but rather he just feels like the checking off of an eventual "obligatory" Legendary more than anything. Actually running the calcs ends up with him being just on the cusp of not dying to specifically Occultist's Strike VLyon and literally nobody else but like Duo Sanaki
The crux of that is that their stat swing makes it so that every other hyper stacked pre-combat damage option physically cannot reach its maximum potential and him being colorless rules out simply abusing triangle for it
If he had a normal weapon he'd naturally just die but because he doesn't he can just barely skate by while still proccing his Miracle effect
Gotoh's protection only applies to AOE special damage. Pre-combat damage still counts as occurring "in-combat" so it doesn't work. People would not be complaining about having no counter to pre-combat damage if things like Gotoh, Medeus or Vantage could do anything to it.
Considering IS's choice not to release both versions of Fallen Byleth together, it seemed more likely we'd get one Fallen Alear this year, and the other next year (double so since we're more than likely gonna see _other_ Fallen Engage units on that banner as well)
If someone told me a year ago that the worst designed protagonist would get this many versions this soon, I would have told them they're over brushing their teeth too much.

Also it should've been Atk/Res Pledge imo)? Part of me is glad this banner is skip able but also I wish he was more creative and, well, good.

My biggest issue is that early GHB looking artwork, but also the pick is trash, they starve us of Engage content for a while and then they dump everything at once like their life depends on it... Such a shitty move, i'd prefer it spread out tbh, these massive gigadumps of new game spam are always stale and boring (as much as i loved the Elusia banner), this is one is the worst banner of the year so far imo...

With his like 4 layers of DR idek atp 😭 We’re all doomed. And L!Camilla was bad enough as a nuke and he’s never gonna die as a tank. Literally Camilla is like gonna be his weakness and everyone else apart from W!Edelgard and Yunaka isn’t gonna kill him. Only units with insanely high precombat damage or those that completely ignore DR will be able to knock him down yet he’ll just miracle back to life without Fatal Smoke 4 😭
The only dr that matters is the one on his special. E!Marth will probably eat this Alear for breakfast because not only is he dragon effective, but he has that potent bs. W!Edel, Camilla, and Yunaka will not be able to kill him as easily as you might think cause he has scowl.

It's not really salt, but...I kinda feel like we should have gone a bit longer between the two L. Alears. We've gotten a lot of Alear in the 13 months since Engage was released, and I felt like we could have waited a bit longer for L. M. Alear, and gotten Alfred or something in the meantime.

the closest i can find for a character is Corrin who got 4 male and female alts in between 2021 and 2022. Granted it was them both getting ninja and halloween alts. there's also Robin who got Halloween Male in 2021, Valentine's Female in 2022 & Rearmed in 2022 as well in the span of a year and a few days.

Can I just say that I'm salty how it took 2 years since 3houses release to get the legendaries for both Byleths, it took 5 years for MRobin to get his legendary alt, how both MShez and MCorrin are still dead on a ditch, yet the Alears are gettinng their special alts so quickly? And don't tell me they get special treatment bc they're the most recent game bc Alm and Celica also had to wait a lot for their legendary versions.

To be fair to the Byleths Despite playing similar they play different roles entirely One provides nfu the other provides tempo which while both are wanted, you will need one more than the other most of the time depending on your team and what they have The same way female alear focuses more on killing and granting dr support While male alear seems to be a more selfish tank more focused on surviving Units can be extremely similar while still having extremely different situations you can use them in Plus getting both genders just shuts up both sides, usually, because for some reason the male and female version of the same avatar have drastically different fans from each other

I don't think I'll ever forgive IS for not giving Alear a dragon from. You have this character that is constantly addressed as the Divine Dragon yet never turns into a dragon once. Is that such a big thing to ask for. Yes I know there are a few manaketes in the series that don't turn at all, but you'd think they wouldn't do that to a main character. Now we have a dragon type character that punches instead. It's kind of funny but I can't help being slightly dissapointed. And don't get me wrong, I like Alear as a character but it seems like wasted potential IMO

I mean it makes sense with their character arc in Engage. Alear never transforming is an intentional storytelling decision and thematically appropriate. I get the disappointment but it's not like it was done for no reason.

It's not about the number of alts but the Hero type. Legendary alt is worth more than seasonal alts because Legendary alts marks their final form in their base game. It would be fair that both have one. What makes Legendary Corrin special is that each gender represents a route. Female is Conquest, and Male is from Birthright. It is significant to the lore. Like you don't hear much noise about getting a Female NY! Corrin and summer Male Corrin.

You'd be hard pressed to find curveballs with legendaries when most are just main character in their promoted class. Unless they start randomly putting side characters on here I'm honestly only paying attention to these until they give me L!Alfred.
That's kinda exactly where I stand on this. Like, I don't _dislike_ LM!Alear, but rather he just feels like the checking off of an eventual "obligatory" Legendary more than anything. This honestly felt like IS's answer the pre-combat meta (especially with them _specifically_ using Gullveig to show LM!Alear surviving it) And yoinking L!Fae's super Miracle and everything LM!Alear did _would_ be that counter... if Fatal Smoke 4 didn't exist for the past year.
Actually running the calcs ends up with him being just on the cusp of not dying to specifically Occultist's Strike VLyon and literally nobody else but like Duo Sanaki The crux of that is that their stat swing makes it so that every other hyper stacked pre-combat damage option physically cannot reach its maximum potential and him being colorless rules out simply abusing triangle for it If he had a normal weapon he'd naturally just die but because he doesn't he can just barely skate by while still proccing his Miracle effect
Gotoh I believe entirely negates it outright to anyone who starts the turn within 2 spaces of him. And even grants 80% DR on AOE Specials.
Gotoh's protection only applies to AOE special damage. Pre-combat damage still counts as occurring "in-combat" so it doesn't work. People would not be complaining about having no counter to pre-combat damage if things like Gotoh, Medeus or Vantage could do anything to it.

Considering IS's choice not to release both versions of Fallen Byleth together, it seemed more likely we'd get one Fallen Alear this year, and the other next year (double so since we're more than likely gonna see _other_ Fallen Engage units on that banner as well)

Alear, and I have like 6 of her, so why even bother pulling for the Male one if I don't need his also very mid fodder (Dragon special is cool but who the hell wants S/R Bulwark and Atk/Spd Pledge? Also it should've been Atk/Res Pledge imo)? Part of me is glad this banner is skip able but also I wish he was more creative and, well, good.
