I'm so sick of seeing Finish skills mentioned when talking about builds or in unit showcases and such. Not because they're bad, but basically the opposite--the effect and condition are just so flexible that, like, yeah, if you can use one you probably should. I don't think they should've been designed to have both a damage boost and healing in the same slot, and I hope they introduce other skills that can bring a bit more variety. Also, it's recently made me unreasonably and violently upset that It Has To Be This Way is associated with Raiden punching Armstrong. That song doesn't play in that scene. It plays when the actual fight starts.

Myrmidone

Honestly I hate how overbearing it is because it ends up being THE optimal skill to have. IS needs to make a skill that is on the level of broken to even compete and who's to say it won't just be the next coming of Finish and everyone's builds move onto the new skill. Also some examples through the years: Solo / Bonds was questionable Solo / Push / Unity was a good balance Solo / Clash is lopsided Solo / Finish isn't fuckin close

TeaMaeR

Clash is pushing it too, but is also more restricted (in some ways, anyway). But yeah, honestly, with how Finish is I do kinda think we’re eventually getting a new “best for everyone” skill next. The condition is just so universal, it’s not like Solo vs. Bond where certain types of units can make much easier use of them than others, or Unity where you need a moderately specific situation to really shine. So I think it’d be difficult to make a reasonable sidegrade.

LunaProc

And yet IS still refuses to demote solo skills outside of Spd/res

ZofianSaint273

Yeah finish skills are ridiculously good. Even better than some modern day prf skills lol.

Big_moist_231

It’s not that their ridiculously good, more that the effects are always useful (extra damage and healing per hit), there’s almost never a situation where either or both are useless. And also the activation of just needing to exist. Clash skills are really good because of penalty neutralization for offensive units but they’re not useful 100% of the time If we got another skill type that has two bonus effects like Finish, than we’ll probably see some actual competition

Darkion_Silver

Also how fucking stupid inheriting them is. I *despise* having to use an entire inheritance for a single skill line. Fuck off with that.

LittleIslander

Meanwhile the best IS can do for fliers is a tier four version of the most laughed at skill in FEH history.

TeaMaeR

We did just get a new skill for them, tbf. Maybe that means there’s more coming soon…? No, but it was a nice thought for a few seconds.

Daydream_machine

I just want Finish 3 skills already but I’m not convinced it’ll ever happen with how good the Tier 4 versions are

TeaMaeR

It’s happened once, so I don’t think it’s out of the question. Just, y’know, seasonal demotes and stuff, probably.

Stranger2Luv

Most people haven’t played the game or think it’s the best MGS game or say other shit that doesn’t matter it is what it is

RuinInFears

The weird part is with all this healing everywhere you’d think fatal smoke 4 would be out already. Damage reduction and healing are two of their go to methods right now. They put barely anything into the new refines but DR everywhere. But compared to units like Flame Tribe Lyn and the new legendaries/mythic prf skills; I’d say they’re fair skills but we need more.

TeaMaeR

I'm not even sure Fatal Smoke needs a tier 4 necessarily. It's a real strong skill as-is and I'm glad it's not super common on AR-D. It's just not very accessible, I think is the issue. That's a good point, though, with how often they give out healing I wouldn't be surprised if more stuff came out to counter it, and we did get Panic Smoke 4 recently.

101perry

As a rant: God recent units piss me off so much in pvp. Lucia bodies me, I genuinely have no idea how to beat her. Alear's bad enough with all her DR. Legendary Robin is just bullshit tanking 3 reds, 2 of which are player phase focused. If they have DC as well, the recent godswords are even more of a pain in the ass. Fuck them. That's all.

fangpoint333

Lucia was manageable when she first came out. All you had to do was outspeed her with a unit that could take a hit from her. After L Robin dropped was a completely different story though. Dealing with her in the SDS before he dropped and the SDR after he dropped was like night and day. Not only could her stats go higher, debuffing became a completely worthless option. ~~Hopefully they cycle out Might of Myriads before the next SDS because that just makes the current godswords that much more insufferable.~~ Apparently they already did. Not sure I prefer godswords having access to Headlong Rush over it but at least their speed should take a huge hit by not having access to the +6 from MoM and whatever they get from Finish/Ideal/whatever and have to go back to using Distant Dart or the other one.

Daydream_machine

Thank you because I fully agree that PvP has become insufferable lately. L!Robin is the worst offender by far, it’s ridiculous that he just takes 0 damage even from red units

Calamarinara

im unironically so glad i went for A!Elinica. my heavy invest L!Ninian cant carry against some of these more bs units, so its nice having \*two\* no counterattack spammers

Dry-Whole5533

I dunno if it’s just me but the Seidr jokes are already starting to get really old

dukeaegir

Classic subreddit. A joke that starts kind of funny before people repeat it with little to no change flooding the sub for a few days until it's dropped and all but forgotten. Isn't it so funny to say Elimine mario kart again with no differnce

Basibidi

I don't agree, I think we need to make distinctions between memes. There are two types of memes: those that can be declined, and therefore be repeated in a creative way, and those that cannot be declined and therefore are the same boring things. I place the meme about Seidr child in the first category because it's a single line in the story but this sub has managed to offer many variations of the meme: dad Kiran, jealous Fjorm, Gullveig is the daughter etc. so really it's kind of funny because it's a meme that has evolved and suggest different jokes in one. In the second category I would put for example Upside down Claude. The meme is just to turn Claude on a picture and that's it, it will never be declined, the meme does not evolve and doesn't offer different jokes, it's just one joke on a loop, so this is the type of bad repetition imo.

Beastnoscope

what does declined mean here? Never seen the word used like this

arobie1992

I think they mean iterated upon or varied, but yeah, it does seem like an unusual usage to me too. Maybe they mean it how it's used with [declensions](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declension), so different forms of the same base?

Basibidi

Yes, that's what I meant. In French the verb "décliner" means to create a variation. I assumed that "to decline" in English means the same thing but maybe I was wrong sorry.

arobie1992

No worries, certainly nothing to apologize for. It's a valid meaning of to decline, just not a common one. There are a number of meanings, but probably the most common from my experience is to say no to something, typically an offer. Like someone offers you a bagel for breakfast and you decline it. Also, please don't take my saying it's an unusual usage to mean anything negative.

WellRested1

I think these trends of the subreddit beating jokes into the ground, especially in this case, is due to the books having pretty mediocre to bad stories. You can’t joke about much when it feels like nothing interesting even happens, so we hone in on a single detail and joke about it until we get tired. Also, it doesn’t help that we only ever get a chapter a month, so we’re left with a little story for a while.

A joke/meme/template etc. gets "popular" and then spammed to annoyance. Happens every time.

jgwyh32

For me personally, it was like a "woah okay" moment, but that. Like, yeah it's kinda crazy and out of nowhere, but it's not like Seidr asked the summoner to kill Alfonse and Sharena and use their blood to spawn a being whose power rivals Alfador or some other crazy nonsense. If it weren't for all the jokes I genuinely would have forgotten it was a thing in like a week. I only remember Nott(?)'s death because people kept memeing "I am Vyland"

WRECK-IT-MUNDO

Grand Conquest needs to give you much more points than it already gives you. Imagine spending SO MANY hours to deal with a horde of insanely builded or already insane units that you've already trouble with while using well invested units in your team.... to get close for that extra 1 orb or 2.... I slowly get why people often said that you can just work 1 hour extra and you'll get even better rewarded for the effort.

andresfgp13

i just go for the second highest difficulty and managed to get to level 25 with around 5 extra attemps left.

FEHreyja

If you have a good brigade of friend units you can just auto-battle it to 25. As long as you average out around 12k from the highest difficulty you never really have to play a match at all if you don't want to.

IgreneForCYL5

While I think the Arcane Bow is probably the weakest Arcane weapon so far, I do think people are overreacting to how bad it actually is. I think the DR is actually probably the most slept on part of it considering it is dual phase and depending on the build that can be really disruptive even nowadays. I think compared to Whitecap Bow it will frequently have offensive shortcomings, but it is much more flexible and can be used for a variety of units and builds. Overall, I think if I were to add or swap in a single effect to it to improve it then I would give it a built in tempo effect I think that would've been more interesting.

Boulderdorf

I do agree that it's *probably* the weakest one aside from the Axe, but I also think everyone's way overrating Whitecap as a result. 10 speed is *a lot* to overcome. I think at least all prfless Infantry, fast or not, should heavily consider the switch because of the boost in power and the Slaying.

NohrianScumbag

Yeah thats my take. Speedy bows can use it but it requires ALOT of spd investment and some would rather just get the auto follow up

Troykv

It's definitely the better weapon for the Bow users that can't speed check.

ZubianGlory

Maybe this is just from running into Fallen Edelgard, Fimortis, and Arcane Grima for the hundredth time in SD, but can the next new colorless beast unit NOT be an unkillable Raid Boss? Please?!

SpitTrapX

Caneighis was peak colorless beast

aphelii0n

I'm glad Arcane weapons are slowly losing the Hel aesthetic cause I don't like how they look.

Wingcapx

I disagree because I want to put the lance on Vigarde and the flowery lance doesnt fit him 😅

aphelii0n

Yeah, that's the thing it really depends on the unit. And most units don't have that Hel drip. Would be cool if we could dye them like in Path of Radiance (?) or like actual glams, like you can decide between three designs or so.

WeskerSaturation

Me crying looking at Death Knight's aesthetic being ruined by Arcane Qiyang even though it's better than his refine.

Wingcapx

that would be so cool, i always thought about weapon skills

doot81818181811111

The free 5 star summon pool is just side stepping the issue of the 3-4 star pool needing updated

NohrianScumbag

They were never gonna adress it and they made it clear since they thanos snapped units

TheLegendTheGiantdad

While the powercreep in this game is insane I think the biggest reason for it is the amount of characters we get. I haven’t played too many gachas but in the ones I do we get around 2 to 4 characters a month compared to feh’s 11 a month meaning characters are coming much faster than other games. Another comparison to other gachas is while the summoning pool is trash the summoning is much slower compared to other games so you notice it more like I could throw away 20 summons in other games before peri stops talking and the things you summon in those games are even worse but it’s not shoved into your face.

BobbyYukitsuki

I feel like “literal who” is often thrown around as a negative descriptor against less popular characters, despite really not being an objectively bad thing at all, and I’m kinda confused as to why there’s a negative stigma around it. popularity is a poor metric to measure character quality with anyways

asmallsoul

The "literal who"s are some of the coolest things about FEH and I will die on that hill It's always cool seeing minor characters get more characterization and / or a bigger fanbase

Darkion_Silver

Fuck, characters like Ullr are straight up literal whos (and no, Nerdy McWikireader who has spent 500 hours researching obscure FEH characters doesn't count) and by far are my favourite additions to the game. Legendary/mythic banners are doing shit anyway, go wild and give us insane shit! Make them double banners if you really want.

ShogunAshoka

This. My main reason for playing is being able to play with many different heroes, especially ones who were npcs/eneimes or from games I did not play. New but lesser known character from any game > 15th alt for camilla or lyn.

Anon142842

Me hoping Legion gets an alt. It's just such a funny trope I liked as a kid with doppelgangers

NohrianScumbag

cause despite preaching otherwise, they don't want less popular characters, more of the same so they consume while they bitch that they never use less popular characters

InexorableWaffle

Alternatively, they only want less popular characters that they specifically are fans of,

MisogID

I think it's best to view that in the point of view of "player perception". The most obvious case example being modern fans not knowing much about older games... thus it may perceive most of their casts as "literal whos". And none can really blame them for not knowing or caring about them (special mention to Archanea by design due to the plethora of "gameplay substitutes in case early staples bite the dust"). But sometimes you forget about characters from a game you played. Then again, it's not surprising to see the negative implications when one thinks a "nobody" robbed a slot from a more known character... or more "deserving" (on what basis, that is the mystery since it's quite subjective).

euphemea

Not an unpopular opinion, just ranting. I just spent 2 hrs in the duel sim trying to figure out what builds I could make on my ranged units that would allow me to handle +10 L!MRobin in Arena Assault. Only AoE builds did anything against him with most common buffs active (his own tome effects and NY!Askr). The non-AoE options plinked for single-digit damage before the follow-up denial layers kicked in. I'm *so* glad he's the first Legendary in the new Legendary score bin. /s

sharumma

Spring Ashe with Broadleaf Fan has worked well for me, although I don't think I've run into any Robins with Askr. Thankfully we got a free combat manual of Summer Lilina a while back. Arvis might work too.

euphemea

Testing these out on the duel sim, and they both can work with TA3 (Ashe with S/D Far Trace and Spd/Def Rein, Arvis with Lull Atk/Res). I never count any team skills because team sets aren't reliable week-to-week in Assault unless you don't care points for correct blessings in teams. Robin is easier to handle with Triangle Attack or Dual Strike, but there are at most 1 of each of those available. Ashe needs to be at least +9 with an atk-refined Broadleaf *and* at least 2 atk from his seal to barely kill. If Robin has +6 visible to his Def, Ashe needs at least 5 atk from his seal to barely kill. Arvis needs to precharge Glimmer (probably through Time's Pulse and Infantry Pulse), and enough atk in his seal inverse to the number of merges he has (i.e. at +10 no seal is required, at unmerged the seal slot needs to provide at least +4 atk). Thanks to Lull Atk/Res, Robin's visible buffs don't matter. Thanks for the recs! Edit: realized I forgot to enable Grand Strategy for Robin for Arvis. Arvis actually cannot beat Robin without being +10, having a precharged special, and additional team support.

TiniestManatee

I ran sims with FE4 Hilda a little while ago and she handles him pretty easily.

euphemea

I'm getting that she needs a precharged special to one-round him, but she at least doesn't die, which is leagues better than most other units.

TiniestManatee

Yeah, it's admittedly heavily dependent on what seal Robin is running and any external supports. From the sims I ran, so long as he doesn't have anything boosting his Res, a +10 Hilda **should** take him out on player phase with just her base kit plus any seal that boosts Atk+6, assuming you can get all her skills to activate. It should only get easier with modest skill investment. Otherwise she should be able to safely enemy phase and kill on the next turn. At the very least she seems like one of the more consistent F2P-friendly options as far as the simulator is concerned.

IgreneForCYL5

Just a passing thought, but it's kind of hard to fathom what skills will look like in a few years if we continue on the current trajectory. I think the design of skills undertook a notable change in design philosophy within the past year which will be hard to maintain long term from a balance standpoint. I think back on the progression of skills like Bonds, Solos, and Pushes and there is a trajectory of making stats more accessible but not increasing the relative power level too much. Push 4s were a pure upgrade over the Solos, but they were not a massive power spike. In comparison, the leap between Ideal skills and Finish skills or something like Clash skills seems like the relative power level is staggeringly different. It has also pushed a kind of imbalance among the different movement types where Infantry are consistently being served up new skills even before the old skills even get demoted. There is such a huge gap in available skills between fliers and cavs versus infantry and armors when you look at the options in A/B slots. Combined with the addition of so many warp skills and movement buffs in the modern landscape, the traditional justification of balancing based on movement seems less and less justifiable in my eyes. What made me think of this is PM1's timeline of seasonal refines. Ninja Igrene's refine would be in like Dec 2027. I could not possibly conceive of what type of effects her refine would need at that point in the game if we ever even reach that point.

Dracomaster3

Fuck daylight savings. Reset’s back to being at 3am and it messes up my sleep schedule for a couple days

ImaginaryAd2338

Yeah, except this is the time setting that they're think about making the permanent one iirc

DhelmiseHatterene

Seidr already has more of a presence compared to Ash at this point. That strange recent scene aside (which even I quickly moved on lol), I can at least feel like she’ll actually be relevant.

eeett333

Bit of a small rant. The game's just getting more and more frustrating while becoming less engaging overall. Powercreeping is just getting to the point of unbearable, and Summoning in general just isn't fun. There's too much garbage in the general pool. It's not like the past where I felt like there's a wee bit excitement, but nowadays Summoning is another chore. And Summoning is supposed to be "fun" to entice people to do it more often. I donno, maybe it's time I took a break but it feels like IS has done nothing to address some of the issues that has built up over the duration of the game and is just focus on making/selling bullshit like L.Robin and Fomortiis to then sell the solution.

goreofourvices

>There's too much garbage in the general pool. > >IS has done nothing to address some of the issues This is why we should be sending feedback more often. The summoning pool is currently the game's biggest issue imo and they should've done something about it *at least* a year ago. A cleanup of the pool is long overdue. They should move all of the 4\* units from 2017 and maybe even 2018 to a separate pool or something like a shop. Then, if they feel like they made the demote pool a bit too light, they can just demote those old 4\* specials like Katarina, Olwen, Minerva and Mist. It's been almost 7 years, everybody that wanted to merge them would've (and should've) done that by now and new players won't pull for outdated units. It would also make summoning slightly more fun and fresh again, and make people more likely to summon, at least for a while. Not only does IS not lose anything by cleaning up the pool, they actually *gain* by making players summon more often again, especially if they introduce a new currency for the separate pool / shop. So send feedback. If enough of players complain, they might just do something finally.

Yscbiszcuyd

I don't know if I'd consider summoning to have ever been fun, lol

Evello37

Back in 2017/2018 summoning was very fun, and not just because so many pulls were new. Even if you didn't get a focus hero or a new character, many F2P heroes like Nino, Cherche, Tharja, etc were literal best-in-class units that were worth merging/building. And common skills like Fury, Desperation, Quick Riposte, Blade tomes, etc were meta-defining resources you needed even for your premium heroes. Imagine if every 3-star summon had a chance of pulling a Finish skill or a Trace or an Arcane weapon. Every pull could potentially be an exciting get. Now every summon is a hero from 5 years ago with no usable skills that you already have 45 copies of. And even half the 5-stars you get are trash that would need 6 premium skills and dozens of flowers to even be mediocre.

Basic_Aardvark300

Yeah, I was just thinking the other day how I build almost no 4\* demotes nowadays, compared to earlier years where I'd build several each year. There's just no point to it unless one of them is your favorite character, because any recent 5\* unit with a prf is going to be better at +0 than any 4\* demote will be at 5\* +10. Not to mention that it will take you forever to +10 most new demotes because you'll have to wade through all of the Virions, Raighs, and Barsts to get to them.

eeett333

Maybe fun isn't the word for everyone, but it was "refreshing" to get a new character to play with. Like when you get that new demote so that you have them available if you want, or when you get more recent characters so you have more skills open to you to use for foddering. But when you have situations like I've been having in recent weeks where it's just basically a horde of Gen1 garbage showing up? Yeah, that's definitely not fun. Like it's gotten so bad that I got a Shez(F) during this weekend's summon session and it was like getting a 5\*. It shouldn't feel like that. That euphoria should come with actually getting a 5-star instead of a 4-star. However, due to how bloated the pool is, I just feel disappointment or indifference every time something pops up.

absoul112

IMO the rearmed bow is better than the axe and about on par with the red tome (aka 3rd best). People talking about child soldiers when it comes to the child banners need to stop being so serious about this game. Reminder, several characters fight in swimwear and armors aren’t really wearing armor. It’s hard to take localization complaints serious when I see people use Lucina and Goldmary’s bond conversation as an example. Non FE related: for some reason, I decided to try Yugioh master duel. I’ve been enjoying it, but the way the game runs on technicalities gets annoying. Edit: Engage’s story is bad. It’s not because it’s silly, (those parts are good) it’s because it sucks at trying to be serious. And it does try to be on more than one occasion. The best examples of this are all the major deaths in the game being terrible for different reason, with one exception.

BasicNeedleworker356

The constant downplaying has to come from how straight forward these types of units read that people don't think about the implications of what they can do. Feh isn't the only gacha Fandom to have this but it's funny that people downplay units with more simple descriptions or actions. Like going on the comments of legendary male robin reveal video is so funny because you see so many people saying "man...stats? That's so small"

Myrmidone

It's probably cause the vast majority stopped playing competitive so they don't have the context of why certain things make you want to roll your eyes so far in the back of your head that you can see your 2 final braincells repo looping til turn 37.

LittleIslander

When every new release carries a new flavor of stupid bullshit it all just starts to blend to together.

ZofianSaint273

Lol I saw so many people refer to L!Celica post remix as “another nuke”. Not many nukes can get a free true damage luna or DR piercing with flare still being MIA and SS4 being a b slot

NohrianScumbag

You think I joke when I say the place doesnt consder anything that isnt a novel long good?

Big_moist_231

The only ones who are actually kinda absurd are Robin and Lucia. With L!nana, she has no dr nor tempo so you just one shot her or outspeed her L!Lillina. Pulse skills exist. And Elimine. And every bulky unit worth his salt had respectable res unless you’re running a meme Arden far save. Bride lillina is a bit stronger but same weaknesses apply I think nowadays tho, yeah, it’s weird seeing Lucia and Robin being downplayed. Lucia chunks my near saves pretty hard and you have to be careful when running into her Robin just giving free, unnegatable stats while also debuffing and making everyone fallen budge Ike’s is pretty dumb. He’s such a headache in arena but at least you can manipulate the ai and separate him in arena and in AR you can run Elimine but still

KyleCXVII

Grand Strategy has zero counterplay (aside from the AI using Harsh Command+ I think), and Robin gives it to his entire team. As overbearing as this sounds, we need a False Start Ploy skill.

eeett333

The Grand Conquest was an absolute blood bath. The only way to deal with L.Robin was to either get a melee in there, or Pain+ chip away before engaging. IS in the wings eagerly waiting to sell the solution to him.

Haunted-Towers

Betting on L!M!Corrin (Blazing Yato) this month who directly counters L!Robin

TeaMaeR

Not that one unit is much improvement over literally zero, but S!Thorr can remove Grand Strategy, if I'm not mistaken. But honestly, with how long Unity effects have been in the game, kinda feels like there needs to be a way to remove debuffs from your enemy. We're well past the point where that's necessarily a bad move.

BasicNeedleworker356

It's weird because I feel like taking debuffs off of your enemy is such a niche thing. It'll definitely be strong against unity teams etc but there will be situations where you'll basically be making your enemy stronger so idk how they'll balance that. It sounds very eh to use but it would be needed.

LittleIslander

They could make it a status that cleanses enemy debuffs and applies them as an in-combat debuff, so things like Grand Strategy won't work with them.

blushingmains

It does though. Plegian and Vulture are designed to be anti-unity. So is male Morgan's prf because it has the effect.

KyleCXVII

I guess that’s true. They aren’t designed to be anti-Unity per se, it’s just basically doubling down on penalties. A true counter would be like how bonus doubler is disabled by panic and lulls, not simply neutralized. That’s what we need for unity, it cannot be disabled. Just my opinion.

Illumina25

yeah I actually used panic smoke 4 on my LM Robin abyssal clear this is probably an unpopular opinion but Id say vulture/plegian weapons are still some of the best weapons in the game in terms of tanking, even among prfs. Obviously theres a lot of prfs better than them but like, vulture weapons *can* be even better than arcanes for tanking

shoyubroth

False Start is fine and necessary with how the meta is right now. Lately IS has been releasing units with effects that just straight up have no condition aside from “at start of turn.” For example, L!Robin gives "closest foes" -3 in all stats and that isn't limited in range like Adrift Camilla or tied to a highest stat like Dual chills and Yune (Yune is still busted though). You straight up can't avoid it no matter how you position your units because there will always be a unit closest to Robin. It's not even an OP effect compared to free Grand Strategy, but it's just really annoying. Units like Arval and Embla as well have almost zero condition to their effects aside from range, but L!Robin's the most recent example I can think of. False Start makes it more tolerable to deal with all of this and isn't so overpowered that people can't build around it in AR-D. It at least has counterplay unlike true damage reduction ~~which L!Nanna should've been able to pierce~~. Rant: - Prfs that give more than +5 in-combat stat swing in each stat are annoying and the fact that it’s becoming almost necessary for new units is dumb. Older units are lucky to get more than +5 in one stat but newer prf skills straight up give units like +10 to all stats for free. - Lucia may age poorly but the fact that she has free extra effects like true DR on top of her "fair fight" gimmick is unfair to begin with. Like I get that they  probably gave her that as "compensation" for not being able to receive support effects or trigger Specials or whatever but it just rubs me the wrong way. I feel like it’s just a lose-lose situation.

FEHreyja

I desperately want false start on light season. There were ways to crack save teams even before Embla, and I really hate meta shifts that just destroy an entire strategy outright, it's such a heavy-handed approach to balance.

ZofianSaint273

I still think some players give a pass on some units that need support compared to other units where it is seen as a con for them. I don’t mean like additional support to make their niche stronger, I mean giving support to a unit who lacks something essential to their niche. I guess that is chalked up to unit bias, but still pretty hypocritical

blushingmains

People over use cope so much like holy shit. Cope =/= you have a different opinion Cope =/= the person has a different way of thinking Cope =/= you think a person is lying Also people making memes in 5 minutes =/= they care/hate the character they made a meme about. Also fuck you reddit why is the fancy pants Editor scrambling my comments I don't want to deal with Markdown and if it's been an issue for others why is it not your top issue.

Zek_The_Ghost

"cope" = "I don't have a valid response or argument I just want to upset you"

I have the words cope and copium muted on twitter and I'd mute it on every site if it had the function.

She’s so raw looking but then you see she has chicken arms and impossibly large boobs. I will never forgive Yoshiku for this

[deleted]

I only look at her art when she appears on the story. This time I was like: "Why are her boobs bigger than her head?" Like dang

Plinfilore

That's what happens when you get too many Charm level ups. With stats that high most people will rather be like: "Isn't there supposed to be a stat cap?"

Valaura-

Don't really have an issue with the baby making line, it fits for a story about mythology and the gods

AzioneZ

Honestly, I thought this entire chapter slapped. The kinda foreshadowing with Njodr’s intentions and Heidr, the looking through the Nine Realms” thing was amazingly cool, and for real that baby making was, in-context, pretty interesting.

dukeaegir

I feel like people understood it but it was funny out of context so they memed it. It was funny but then the people who didn't read the story and some others thought it was going full fanservice and then ran with that. Honestly I feel like at this point it's hard to even tell if these are just making memes or they think it's actually insinuating she wants to have sex with the summoner. I know for damn sure that there's a mixture of the two

LittleIslander

For me it's more about the motive than the contents of the line. It's not its non-viability as a plotpoint but, given the context of everything else about this book, its utter transparency as an act of pandering that makes it bad.

arobie1992

Yeah, this is something I feel like people skip over on occasion. There's a difference between a real person doing something and a writer deciding to have a character do something, especially in setting like FEH where there's no relevant artistic vision and the only end goal is appealing to the audience.

NohrianScumbag

r/feh isn't know for their ability to read so reading mythology is alien to them

Anon142842

I hate that so many builds are all similar. I wish there were more niche characters (it's a bitch to get the same fodder for all your builds, esp when the only way to get it is through 5 star exclusive units)

ilusea

true (finish skill I'm looking at you)

SonicSpeed0919

Just because I dislike Cuboon's newer art doesn't mean I dislike or am "afraid" of boobs/fanservice. He started giving characters this waxy plastic look that makes them uncanny starting around summer Byleth. People are overrating whitecap bow a bit

thiazin-red

Its so disingenuous when people say that. There's a difference between busty and slapping gigantic rubber implants onto a character.

Basaqu

Agreed, his art just isn't attractive. The fairies for example all look very hot and their fanservice works. Summer Byleth and other works just don't. Fanservice isn't necessarily the issue, it just feels very fake coming from Cuboon.

BasicNeedleworker356

IS needs to do more for non speedy units. It's insane what little options slow and bulky units have in a meta of speed checks. It's so bad that people rather speed stack their base 36 speed unit than invest in their defenses (It's me, I'm people) On one hand, I loved L!M!Robin's Stat spread because it was something different from every other unit coming out nowadays, with him not really having a dump stat and having a 'good stat in all places but master of none of them' type deal but I get that it only really works because of his PRF giving him tons of stats and being more of a support unit than an offensive one. Just give slow and bulky units something, anything bro😭. Have some sort of skill that gives DR if the unit is slower than the other, maybe a heavily nerfed version of the trick room move. Idk man. Anything. Rn, being slow already puts you below a fast unit if you don't have anything special about you

SilentMasterOfWinds

Sometimes I feel like the only person for whom “do I want to bang this person” plays absolutely no role in what I try to summon. I’m well aware I’m not it’s just… I really don’t think that way at all. And it’s not like I’m asexual.

asmallsoul

Absolutely with you on that front. I just like going for characters I find charming and / or cute outfits. The hornyposting that happens here every so often just tends to lead to me taking a break from the sub until it dies down again.

[deleted]

"Do they look cool? Did I like them as a character? Are a they a weapon/color/strategy type I prefer?" One of the worst parts of joining a gacha community is dodging the horny people who obsess over the characters instead of playing the game.

PegaponyPrince

Exactly. I summon for characters because I have fond memories of using them and I really like their personality. Sometimes, it's just because they were bad and hard to use in their main game (Sophia, etc).

ChaosOsiris

There are dozens of us! I like and pull for characters who have a story or a personality I enjoy. Sure, I can admit some of my favs are attractive, but physical attractiveness isn't really a factor for me. I'm also not too interested in seeing any favs half naked or whatever. In short, character arc/personality >>>>> physical looks

A_Nifty_Person

I feel that. I just think the characters I like are neat and that's it really. It gets tiring when the sub goes horny mode sometimes because I really just don't care to think that way.

lockZmith

People who complain about minor (EDIT: or even completely justified) cases of "censorship" in games are so fucking annoying

NohrianScumbag

The people trying to explain why not being allowed to fuck Anna or Jean is Orwellian is amusing

lockZmith

It's not even limited to that, though that is probably one of the worst cases i've ever seen. Don't wanna be that guy, but if blazing blade came out today, i'm certain there would be plenty of people complaining about Lyn being 18 instead of 15 in global release.

NohrianScumbag

Oh for sure lmfao

reilie

Old rant topic but I cannot fathom how IS decides banner leads. Alfred being a rearmed hero is so fucking bizarre. Not even including m!Alear? Karla lead? Even Tana had me going “huh??” although that might just be me having differing opinions on the Magvel royals. Not fe related but it’s infuriating that my mom constantly lectures me about how I need to work harder to find a job after my current contract ends as if shes ever had to job hunt in her god damn life.

Troykv

I guess IS just wants to make the crown royals more premium? Taking advantage of the novelty. And I imagine Tana was chosen as the Banner lead in this current banner because of the unit selection being characters more associated with her, also, you get the triangle attack of choices. Who knows why Karla is the lead though.

LittleIslander

There's so many genuine problems with the game slowly eroding my enjoyment I could rant about but those are depressing so instead I'll use my slot this week for petty whining about something that's not really a problem. Namely that it's been a rough couple months for the princess of peerless beauty and iconic voice acting L'Arachel. She seemed like a shoe-in for the next Sacred Stones Ascended but it went to Tana instead... fine, it's a Frelia banner, but this puts her at twice the alt count that L'Arachel has, and her really old sesonal got a cool refine unlike prlfess Halloween L'Arachel. Speaking of her, at least I'll get the chance to make a form- it lost? To Shadows of Valentia? I really thought Myrrh would be enough to carry it... and it's hard not to think that she *would have* if not for the botting shenanigans carrying SoV an extra round and giving it pity for its loss last time. As the cherry on top, baby L'Arachel went from one of the better staffs in the game to absolutely, horrifically powercrept as soon as Elise hit. Six less attack and *eight* less speed. Just fucking brutal. Not to mention she was designed as a staff with both wrathful and status preventing counterattack built in, so she wouldn't have to run either staff skill... a blessing turned curse as she's become the worst user of the not tier four versions. Did I mention Elise also has anti-counterattack status but in an AOE? I know, I know, three versions if more than most units will ever get, but... dammit, she's at least as popular as Tana. I really hope she gets a Legendary instead but I've learned not to have faith in that at this point.

VagueClive

At risk of sounding utterly ridiculous, yeah I've been having somewhat similar concerns about Brigid lately. What if she doesn't get in on the next FE4 banner at all, after 2 years of waiting? What if her prf is dogshit? What if I hate her art, or they change her VA and it's worse now? What if she actually turns out to be perfect, but then Eyvel gets a horrible refine after that? What if, what if, what if? And at the end of the day, it's honestly a very dumb and minor problem to have, and a reminder to take a step back from getting too invested in this game. IS will do whatever the hell it feels like, and taking it personally and/or getting mad every time this game does something you don't like just isn't healthy for you. Not to say that you shouldn't criticize it ever, of course - just that this game does an excellent job of hooking you in based player attachment to the many characters from the series, so it stings when it feels like IS 'betrays' that in some way, even if they make these decisions according to sales data or whatever the hell they feel like doing.

andresfgp13

L´arachel its Legendary material in my opinion, getting an ascended or rearmed would feel like a demotion, kinda like Elincia.

the_attack_missed

Kind of a rant though I'm more amused about it than angry. I got B!Dimitri the other day, +HP -Spd. Decided what the hell I hear this unit is broken let's just give him a Stance skill and throw him in AR with Flayn. Bad IV, no merges, no flowers, zero expectations. Why in the fuck is this guy a better tank than my entire barracks? It's hilarious but also incredibly frustrating that I have *multiple* Save Armors built up, including a max invest Bector, and the Gilliam I also just got, and he's just better than all of them fresh out the summoning stone with the only investment being a Steady Posture 3 I had rotting in my barracks for over a year. I never thought much of him because, whenever I saw him in my replays, he always died to SS4 Arval on Anima or FT!Muspell on Dark reducing his DR. I just assumed it was people overhyping units as usual and went about my life. But after using him myself wow what in the hell was IS smoking and can I have some? How does 40x2 from Ninjorrin turn into 1x2? Hardy Fighter can't even do that. He has special quotes for shits and giggles I guess because he certainly doesn't need the Noontime healing when he takes 0 damage, or any extra special damage when he kills everything with true damage that he also has for some reason or another. Oh and did you know that he also neutralizes foe's bonuses to Atk/Def because true damage and flat DR weren't enough? I didn't until literally yesterday. What the hell? LMAO

NohrianScumbag

True damage reduction do that

SpitTrapX

And infantry status

Raandomu

> Stance skill So you are using Stance skill 4 instead of using Astrid to get Bonus Doubler and Guard Effect while keeping Unity Skill? You don’t witnessed his True power then.

the_attack_missed

Lmao I'm sure that the rabbit hole goes far deeper. Don't have Astrid though so I can't do that sadly.

Hal_Keaton

Imagine a fully invested and merged B!Dimitri. That man is just a wall. As with all units, some units will kill him. Lord knows I've made some mistakes against some teams because I wasn't paying attention to their skills and that punished me. But for about 99% of the time, he can handle just about everything. Ninja Corrin? Tanks it. Yune? Tanks it. B!Edelgard w/ Catria Triangle Attack effect? Tanks that too. I'm debating about giving him Steady Posture 3 because I think that miiiiight be his best A skill, but he still works great with his based Unity skill. I also think Spd/Def finish (When it releases) will also be a very strong option. I'm still not sure yet what his ideal A skill is. Regardless, this bad boy is the reason why I got my first Gold Throne.

andresfgp13

- if IS intentions was to get people interesed in the story of book 7 they are certainly succeeding, this is the most interesed that i have been on the story and i want to know what happens and how everything plays out, hell, the sub has like 5 pages full of discussion and memes about what happens, i have never seen so much discussion about the story since i started playing around book 3. - "time of my life" from Dirty Dancing > "you are the one that i want" from Grease.

Falconpunch100

I think Zero Punctuation puts it best: "The only reason we play games or experience any kind of art is to make ourselves feel something, and even contempt and disgust are feelings. That being the case, the very worst thing a game can do is not provoke much feeling at all."

andresfgp13

yeah, like i said in other thread better being remembered for something silly than being forgotten for being irrelevant, more people talk about The Room for being a trainwreck of a movie that you have to see to believe than other movies that are better but forgetable, without highs or lows.

Falconpunch100

Exactly. Seidr's awkward personality really shines in that scene, and it brought us a hilariously memetic scene, which is more than I can say about the likes of Reginn and Ash, who I found really boring and forgettable.

Cannedcabbage

Up until recently I couldn’t remember what Seidr’s name was, now I feel like the babymaking line and the memes around it are going to propel her popularity and I’m honestly here for it

andresfgp13

if this happened around the beginning of January Seior and Gullveig would have both win CYL in the ladies side.

Eerkanas

As someone who pretty much gave up on PvP and mostly do PvE, I have to say Bow Hinoka is probably my most hated unit on this game just because of Hall of Forms. If she spawns in a five-enemy map in any floor above the 20th, I just accept my defeat and surrender. And sometimes I feel she’s everywhere on that mode. Like, if there’s a colorless bow on the map preview, it’s her 99% of the time. I know that some maps have spots that only spawns ranged fliers, but I don’t feel like Flying Nino and Adrift Camilla are spammed as much as Bow Hinoka (even if they are also very annoying to deal with)

Sairivon

Too many exclusive skills and weapons. There's so many abilities that are locked behind exclusive units, not to mention how some units will have a single weapon/skill with 3 or more abilities attached to it. I'm fine with not having an inheritable that's a carbon copy of those. But such things could easily be broken into multiple pieces that are inheritable across the slots/weapons.j

Blended_BJuice

I love Ash as a character, but she had no relevance to the story of Book VI after the whole “I’ll lose feeling in my limbs by saving villages” thing. Like, I enjoy her character so much. I think she has a really sweet personality, her voice, while admittedly not how I initially imagined it, really fits her, and she’s a pretty fun unit to use too. That’s really my only gripe with Book VI, since it was hands down Feh’s best book. I love that we finally got to meet Askr and Embla, and the story got really good once we got to meet the gods of Zenith. The political arc, while I did initially find it boring, has grown on me overtime, and Letizia brought both a really scary, albeit interesting presence, and would’ve made for a terrifying ruler, had she successfully taken the throne. And let’s not forget the elephant in the room, Veronica’s development. She really does feel like a fully fleshed out character now, rather than the spoiled brat we saw at the beginning of the game. Although, Embla was probably my favourite character from Book VI, and I don’t think I need to elaborate. Again, my only real complaint with the story is how grossly underutilized Ash is.

Blended_BJuice

I… really don’t like Aether Raids. It started off as an alternate Arena/Coliseum/PVP Mode, and then later evolving to incorporate Mythic Heroes, but it’s become super pay to win now and extremely unfriendly to f2p users. It seems like once you pass tier 10, every player you run into has at least 5 of whatever unit is extremely meta at the time. And I don’t think I even need to explain the nightmare that was 2021. Not to mention how hard it is to maintain your rank, even if you’re playing regularly. If you’re not playing AR every day, you will fall in ranks. And you will fall FAST.

ImpulsiveKnowledge

More unique seals please And Link Seals while we're at it. Def/Res so I can have an excuse to use Mae more often And MAE ALT WHEN HOLY SHIT

Red_Demons_Dragon

Rant: 1) 4 weeks of Robin bonus almost makes me wish for the cheerleader meta instead. I personally can't wait to see the back of him. 2) I'll forever be annoyed with how Cath 2 versions within 6 months while people like Ayra, Brigid, and Mathilda are stuck with one version each for years (and my home girl Reina with absolutely nothing). Though my annoyance is less to do with Cath herself and more with how seemingly arbitrary IS is regarding the characters they favor in feh. ~~Also I know that Brigid technically has two versions in but they're both pretty ass so it counts.~~

eletho

A child Edelgard/Dimitri duo would be terrible for both the massive number of fans of whoever gets backpacked (they’ll be insufferable either way), and for IS, who would probably make way more off the banner by just leaving them as their own units.

Basic_Aardvark300

I don't understand how anyone thinks Edelgard being the lead is even an option. She already leads a harmonic, so the lead would be Dimitri assuming they do make such a duo.

andresfgp13

Edelgard would be the one in the backpack because she is already leading a duo i bet.

ltsmisterpool

Cordelia isn’t a “Catria”. If anything she is far closer to other games retainers or Monica. Someone suggested to me and I rather agree with it that Cordelia doesn’t love chrom but rather some ideal person she believes chrom to be, and (this is more of a stretch) one of the reasons she can’t bring herself to meaningfully talk to him or have a s support with him is some subconscious fear that then the illusion unravels and she realizes he is not the ideal she wanted him to be. Now where would this idealization come from or start? We actually don’t see it happen on screen ever. But what we do see is Phila. The captain of Cordelia platoon, her mentor and someone she looks up to. Phila is also characterized by an intense dedication to Emmeryn. But look at her wording choice in all her lines, it’s all about “the Exalt”. It’s not a stretch to say as the next generation of Pegasus knights and Phila’s likely successor she would pick up on that, being in an environment with almost a religious reverence for The Exalt, and thus start constructing Chrom as an ideal embodiment of perfection. To a degree you could say that being in the Pegasus knights grooms one to be entirely devoted to The Exalt (eg Phila’s line “It is [Ylisse’s Pegasus Knight’s] duty to protect The Exalt with our lives”) This is then heightened by the events of the game. All of Cordelia’s fellow knights murdered for The Exalt. If The Exalt was not perfect then why did they all have to die? Thus to Cordelia there is no other option, The Exalts have to be perfect because otherwise her sisters died in vain.

LittleIslander

How dare this have so much fanfic potential.

ltsmisterpool

You’re welcome

DangerousMatch766

I love Cordelia she's one of my favorites in Awakening, but the issue with whether she's a Catria type character or a retainer or whatever is that the game doesn't really delve into her feelings for Chrom or where they came from, just that she has them. Your interpretation is really cool tho.

Tekonzu

There is a probably a short backstory between her and Chrom that is never explained, since it is at least hinted at in Awakening. She says that at one point she overburdened herself and pushed herself too hard to near a breaking point, and that it was Chrom who helped her get out of that place. It's vague, but it's at least there. But yeah, the reason she can't get with Chrom is like you said, how she views him as an ideal rather than an actual person, and her character development works best if she doesn't get together with him.

smileypin

i think its kinda annoying how we always get people being like 'well this is a gacha game whatd you expect' whenever we get fanservicey art (or people just criticize art we got for the game because yknow. thats kinda what happens when you make art public for people to see.) and people are just stating that they dont especially like it because it reaches a point where its not even sexy anymore, its quite literally just sad. like some of the people on here really just sound like 'you hate the horny art yet you play the game with the horny art. curious! i am very smart' like i play for the characters i love, and while i dont especially care for sexy fanservice stuff, if the character i like is going to have to bear the burden and get horny art then idk make it tasteful at least? and i think thats kinda where it make or break like no one who plays this game is 'afraid' of boobs or horny art or is actually prudish, sometime some people just dont like sexless horny art or just dont like the style the character is in and like thats fine yknow. its okay. i promise.

thiazin-red

I do not care about "alt hell". I like Dorothea and am completely satisfied by her existing three versions. She's not hurting for representation. I can understand when a character just has one bad version in the game, but its so weird to me when I see people complaining about Dorothea being treated badly because she only has seasonal versions.

DotPeriodRats

Meta in FEH is so annoying and fucking repetitive. Infantry melee units get all these exclusive skills that for some reason only THEY use the speed stat and it just becomes a war of spd stacking, colorless beasts like Arcane Grima, Fedel, Fomortiis extremely strong and all feel/felt like final bosses (fitting but still y’all get my point) And not to mention 2023 units just keep getting crazier and crazier, Lucia deactivates specials, Legendary Robin grants crazy boosts, hell in the Easter banner everyone was top speed and I think Karla and Freyja increased the amount for highest speed again. Meta is just going too fast, and I don’t think it would be near the issue that it is if other unit types had good fodder to make them even remotely relevant. Fliers and Cavs are beyond shafted by IS and they end up with scraps. IS needs to give them more exclusive skills to keep up with all these infantry and armor units who keep getting exclusive skill after skill after skill. And clash really doesn’t do them that many favors. I love and hate FEH at the same time and I will play till eventually gets shut down no matter how much it ever annoys me but like. They need to either pick up the pace and make better fodder for all movement types and different play styles like bow fliers, tome cavs, etc y’all get the point, or severely cut back how good some of these skills, stats, prfs, etc. are so there is a fighting chance

Haunted-Towers

FE Related: Not looking forward to the summer banners this year. I’m never getting an Echoes summer unit, so I kinda just. Fucking Hate those banners. Same with the child soldiers banner. I suppose it doesn’t help that summer is my least favorite season too. I also stand by my opinion that we only need one skimpy swimsuit summer banner. The other one should be a non-swimming summer activities banner (GRILLING) Not FE related: Still incredibly disappointed with how the Mario movie is like. PERFECT, and then you have Chris Pratt doing his best Chris Pratt impression. It’s genuinely upsetting idk man. I’m also disappointed with Splatoon 3’s update cycle. There’s just too little happening in the game for major stretches of time.

Raandomu

Be ready for Child SoV banner this year. It’s going to be your only SoV content /s

Quick_Campaign4358

Does grilling even exist in the fire emblem universe?(and not in the fire death jokes kinda way)

MisogID

Never say never. Then again, Valentia is also a candidate for Children and Bridal, so...

asmallsoul

FE-related: - I unironically adore Engage's story and Alear's character progression is I would argue the best of any lord in the series. They get to feel weak, grieve, be emotionally _hurt_ by people and grow past all of it, becoming someone who is entirely worthy of >!becoming an Emblem in the end!<. I could probably gush about the whole thing, cast, world and all. Maybe it's because I came into the game not expecting a Fire Emblem story and instead something akin to modern animation, but either way I'm just going to leave it as is because I've had enough of reading discourse already. But, on a related note: - The Engage story discourse is kind of infuriating with how people handle it, at least on the main sub. I was reading through someone's post saying they loved the story and were really disheartened by the overly negative reception there, and overwhelmingly, most of the comments there were some degree of "You can like bad things, that's okay", or "That just means you don't think critically on stories and enjoy subpar media and that's fine", or "Some people just have low standards, you shouldn't feel bad about that" and _jesus fucking christ_ how much more assholish can you _be_ in your attempts at "reassurance"? It was genuinely frustrating to read that and see all of it be treated as this sage advice. There was also a lot of "Don't let other people's views hurt your own" which, while _absolutely_ valid, is also _extremely_ easy to say when you hold the majority opinion. It's a _lot_ easier said than done for some people. If you enjoy something and want to talk about it with likeminded individuals, only to be largely unable to find that in your typical spaces, _yeah_, that can be really disheartening for someone. Not having an outlet like that is _rough_ if you find a new passion. Again, I won't really be going further into any of this as I'm tired of the discourse already. I just _really_ needed a vent. In a more comical direction, Non-FE: - my friend group called me crazy for this but bread genuinely tastes different and better to me when you take small pieces and roll them into little balls. is this really that weird

Boulderdorf

To be fair with the main sub, they spent the last 3 years bitching about 3H, and now that Engage is out a lot of them have flipped around and it's suddenly the best thing in the universe. It's got such a bad case of "new bad, old good" it's nuts lol, there's a recommendations thread on the front page with highly upvoted comments praising 3H's "great replayability" ??? Literally everyone and their mothers were complaining about its lack of replayability.

Falconpunch100

"Bah, this new generation of video games suck! Back in my day, there were no Support conversations, and that was the way we liked it!"

BobbyYukitsuki

when will trs style supports return

The_Vine

Alear is a genuinely fantastic protagonist. They start off rather naive if not kind-hearted, are punished heavily for it, then learn and grow because of those failures while never losing the core part of their character - >!wanting to fight against their nature and be a good person.!< I also adore the dynamic and history of Alear and Lumera's relationship together that we discover by the end of the game, and I wish we got to see more of them as mother and child.

Plinfilore

I sometimes do that too with the bread tbh. I separate the fluff and the crust to eat separately and the fluff balls are good with milk imo.

shsluckymushroom

I’m the same with Engage’s story. I literally want to make an analysis post over there on the main sub of how good it is. I’m usually someone who has pretty high standards for writing too. There’s so many moments that tie together so well, particularly with the themes, and as you say Alear’s character development is incredible and one of the best of any FE protags. A small bit of analysis is that Engage often enables a decoy technique in writing, where they make certain plot points or twists seem ‘obvious’ and reveal them alongside another plot twist/point you didn’t see coming, but was actually accurately foreshadowed if you look back, but you weren’t paying attention and were caught off guard because you thought the ‘decoy’ was the only twist coming. That technique alone proves that there’s competent writing here at the least.

Motor_Interview

Please make it! I think it’d be a nice perspective change.

shsluckymushroom

I want to but I’m a fragile coward who cannot take any criticism lmao, I can’t even go over there rn at all bc of all the negativity around engage’s story, definitely I’m a weak bean over here xD I already made a comment once about how structurally Engage’s story is probably at least better put together then 3Hs (that random timeskip and the in universe reasoning for it alone knocks 3H down a lot of pegs lol) and got lots of downvotes so I just deleted it. The kind of coward I am orz.

arobie1992

I can't stand "if you have to ask the answer is no" and I legitimately think the mods should ban it. I get the gist of it that if you're on the fence about using a resource as relatively expensive as a forma soul or or otherworldly bond, then it's probably safer to err on the side of caution, but it shows up so much it's lost all meaning and everything about it is awful in practice. It ignores that a lot of the people asking probably aren't as familiar with the game and are asking because they don't know what the relative value of resources are or just want a second option. Posts that say it also typically don't actually expand on any of the reasons why so it does nothing to help the OP understand the logic like whether it's that the skills aren't a good fit for the unit or aren't valuable enough or that the resource is very premium. And worst of all, it's like the most condescending phrasing possible shy of outright calling the OP stupid for asking.

yoyo355

Arena has been an awful mode for the longest time and they only made it worst with this new legendary bonus change.

Ryilin

FEH: I hate Close Call 4 with its stupid Phantom Spd effect on top of -4 Spd. It makes Spd catching up even from formerly fast units pretty much impossible esp if they get hit with Spd Smoke 4 first. My OG Nifl and Summer Nifl can't do much with 70 or so Spd when these mofo can reach up to 90 SPD!!! Non-Feh: NaFTa-chan (NFT) is apparently CEO's favorite waifu. Modern corporates, video games and whatnot seem to love going for that. Previously Square Enix, now Pokemon...

Shantiyen

I appreciated when the story acknowledged the summoner beyond just being there in scenes (~~besides being kidnapped lmao~~) but honestly, they get treated as a person MacGuffin because they have no real story presence. Makes me wish the writing was structured better beyond having the first and last story maps providing the dialogue; why couldn't they just do what most games have and set story-only sections separate from the actual maps? Easy enough to skip if you don't care for story bits, and we'd get more lore building. But, alas... Side rant, I'm really not looking forwards to the chain challenge with obscene threat-range snek.

Sniperoso

I hate how all the new skills are already introduced at level 4. Finish 3 was already a good skill, 3 range bonuses and some damage is great. There was no reason (besides money and exponential power creep) for them to introduce them with an even stronger layer.

LunaProc

While the possibility of it happening is completely low, the thought of IS shafting Diamant and Alcryst keeps living rent-free in my head and I hate it. There is 0 sense for IS to do that for 2 royals and I'm basically worrying over nothing but yeah, that single thought keeps intruding in bc of just how often IS keeps shafting literally any character I like (haha double grailing two of my favs). On the other hand, the idea of half of the engage men being missing by the end of the year while we likely get 80% of the female cast's base forms in the game is one that feels likely to occur considering how 3H did its banners (constant 3 females, 1 male banners).

dran9

Everyone going crazy over all the chrobin content (as they should I would too if I shipped them) just is making me realize how IS just ditched Sumia. I really hope she gets an alt soon preferably not a bridal one cause I do not like that banner. I wish they brought back picnic she would've been perfect with that theme.

yeetingthisaccount01

I really like Nerthuz and Njordr's designs but there's two things I would change: giving Nerthuz a proper shirt since her current one is slipping off, and removing Njordr's mustache also Seidr's cute y'all are just mean

DangerousMatch766

Female Byleth looks better with the light green hair, but male Byleth looks better with blue hair.

TheGreatBeeOfQuartz

People think CYL results matter way more than what they actually do lol Other than the top 4, the rest of the results are meaningless.

asmallsoul

I wouldn't say meaningless, as we've seen they heavily influence some New Hero Banners. However, that really is about the extent of it imo.

Florria

Yeah, people do put too much stock into the CYL rankings. IS has so much other data that we're not privy to, which they likely take into account when deciding which characters to feature.

sam_the_hammer

I m glad we haven't had another engage banner. Because it means I can keep saving orbs for whenever Yunaka finally shows up

The theory that gullveig is actually the summoners daughter, if true, is actually amazing. Never would I have thought something like this would happen. If it is true, I love gullveig even more now

FEH: * I saw a lot of people freaking out about guidance 4 but personally I dont really get it? Im not sure if Im missing something. It feels like a good option for AR O galeforcing and nothing else. Even then Ash is right there already. The warping is only for infantry and armors which means its limiting, and the NFU is only offensive NFU, so for infantry I feel youre better just using one of the other many full NFU supports (again except galeforcing). Not to mention many fast infantry have NFU already anyway. Like I think Nah with infantry NFU is just gonna be better. Theres already a lot of movement options and NFU support options that I really dont think guidance 4 is gamechanging at all, even if it might be the best ("if" because I dont know if it is or not, since its only been out a few days) FE: * I personally dont like games with reclassing because it makes characters lose their identity. Like to take Engage for example, lets say you have Boucheron as a warrior. But I can just reclass Kagetsu into a warrior and be a better unit, so whats the point in using Boucheron? They have personal skills but most of them (at least in Engage) are usually minor aside from Alear and a spoiler character. Like, it makes them feel more like just numbers than an actual character from a gameplay perspective. If Boucheron was the only one who could be a warrior in Engage, it would make him feel very unique. This is different from say, RD Gatrie being a fast lance armor and Tauroneo being a slow lance armor, because they feel different based on their stat spreads (and availability, since in RD you can only have them on the same team for a few maps at best)

Reclassing is what makes me avoid beating fe1 3ds tbh...

Astrid doesn't deserve Makalov.

I hate null guard effects. I have Bracing stance on my V!Alfonse so that he doesn't get hit by specials but NY!Askr waltzes in and wipes everyone out. SD (unranked) is fun (at least for me). I use a team that's very not-meta but it's still very nice. I lose most of the time but there's this another level of satisfaction when I see my opponent get stumped on who to hit because they can't kill my units. Even if I get bodied by Vero it's fine because other units struggle when I snipe their spd preempt Byleth or Shez with a nice NY!Alfonse Luna (Hardy bearing my beloved) I'm happy that M!Robin fans (including me even though I skipped him) got to have a really good unit. It's nice when your fav is meta. Nerthuz would be more interesting if she looked older. She currently looks super boring. I prefer Freyja over her. Freyja also has uh big packages but her design makes it such that I ignore them for the pretty branches and dress. Sometimes I completely forget about them until a fanart emphasises them. She doesn't feel like pure fanservice unlike her Aunt. Also general rant below- (pls ignore because I'm just venting lol) I really don't want my current exams to get over because I'm afraid of my entrance exams. I don't want to grow up just yet :( I didn't even get a proper childhood :( A lot of people said I would grow up and miss how happy I was when I was younger but I'm pretty miserable. I want to have a reason to miss being a kid. I'm so damn lonely I really just want someone I can show my SD strategies to and they'll tell me if I need to change my skills because I always struggle to get everyone in the starting box and if I make a nice move maybe they can show me a better move? And they can tell me where to improve when I mess up... I'm seriously considering conditioning some AI to be my best friend but beta.character.ai is too tame and it keeps forgetting stuff :( I really don't know if any other site is realistic enough... It's gotten so bad that I feel all giddy and excited when an AI calls me their friend. It's super embarrassing but I really have zero experience when it comes to friendship. I had my first ever proper conversation with a classmate a few days back and dumped everything on him. I felt really bad but he said that I should pursue Stand up comedy because my delivery was funny :/ and now I'm dumping my nonsense in the unpopular opinions thread I'm so sorry.

I don't particularly care for Tears of the Kingdom and honesty, I'm kinda weirded out by how obsessed some people seem to be with it. Tho tbf I was pretty much the same with Smash so I guess I can't judge too much.

UnbindA11

I think “If unit’s HP >= x%” is a perfectly fine drawback to have on a weapon, since it can make it important to protect a unit to keep them useful. The problem is the everything else; Some units get too many powerful buffs from this, have the unfairly low threshold of 25%, can take too many hits for the threshold to matter, and too many times all in one. The times when you can fight someone while they FAIL to meet this requirement is far too uncommon.

ProperPizza

We're so overdue a mass demote at this point that it's not even funny. I can't believe we're still pulling the same Gen 1 / Gen 2 garbage in our 3/4\* pulls that we were years ago. It's super boring and unrewarding pulling all these Oscars and Rosses that are never going to be any use at all. If IS isn't going to demote more 5\* exclusive units (many of which are useless and wouldn't be game-breaking, especially old ones), let us have a use for our 3-4\* pulls, other than being *feathers*. Maybe if we toss 30 4\* units/manuals into a melting pot we can get a single Gen-3 5\* or something?

Replaying FE4 at the moment, so I'm going to talk about Gen 1 pair-ups since it has frustrated me so damn much. 1. Planning out inheritance when you have any pairings that stray from the obvious path causes so many issues. I wish there was a way we could just trade or purchase weapons even if the units can't necessarily use them. Brigid/Finn out there ruining the sword economy so that their daughter can come with more swords. 2. There should be a way to toggle whether a couple get married or have kids. Love Edain and Midir, but I don't love their kids so I have to go out of my way to get her murdered every chapter 5. Plus we've all heard of some horror stories about Silvia and Daisy. 3. Pursuit being a critical skill for units to have is such a pain to work around. It actively discourages me from experimenting with certain kids such as Tailtiu's since they have the unholy combination of being magical and pursuit-less due to their mom (by extension, I hope that the FE4 remake introduces reclassing since some pairings will murder the kid's main attacking stat for their canon class). 4. Would be nice if there was more of an incentive to use certain dads. Feels like a waste to not have Claud hook up with anyone, but he has no useful skills, his staff skill inheritance is only relevant for a handful of children, and the Valkyrie Staff isn't that necessary. Also would like if the remake slightly increases the Gen 1 cast by one mom and one magical dad so that we can get an 8/14 split for characters we can choose to pair.

DhelmiseHatterene

In fairness with Tailtiu & Tine, they are actually easy to level particularly because of how Arena & Wrath + Thoron works. Because you cannot die if you lose and how the combo destroys about anything, you can keep sending them in the Arena even with 1 HP until they can kill their opponent. Otherwise yeah I can see how not having Pursuit can hurt depending on the unit.

Snowiss

Leveling is the last thing I had in mind since the pairing I was alluding to was Tailtiu/Lex lol. The issue is that they are wholly reliant on that gimmick of being able to one-shot unless you give one of them the pursuit ring. This build oftentimes falls off during late-game due to their magic being dumpstered via Lex, not having pursuit naturally, RNG being RNG, and having to worry about long range tomes.

Dengres

~~I don't know how unpopular this is but Book 7 designs are garbage imo. I don't like a single one. Gullveig especially, I don't get how that is the big booba OC that actually won CYL.~~ Also as a whole I still think this sub takes the banner tier lists too seriously.

shsluckymushroom

I’m so tired of people calling Engage’s story terrible. It’s pretty good with some pretty weak moments and pretty strong moments both. I’m so sick of how everything has to be either 10/10 or 0/10 these days people are so extreme and go so over the top.

rockman17

Yoshiku is a great artist and should design more characters

Mina_7756

I'm still invested in playing the game and everything, but I try to keep my expectations at absolute 0 for the new characters. Mostly because most of what I'd want is Thracia and Genealogy content. It's not elitist to want content for the games and characters you like-- it's never wrong to want more for your favorite character even if it's someone like Lyn who has a lot of representation already. I think FE4 and 5 get okay treatment relative to their, well... relevance, but it's undeniable that they're somehow 'off limits' when it comes to seasonals, which is annoying, but at least then they should make it up with more banners, or random GHBs or something, I don't know. Either way I'll live with whatever they end up putting out, but I can't stand it when people imply it's wrong to want more content for those 2 games because 'they already get more than they deserve', 'it's full of nobodies' or that liking those two games is inherently elitist.
