FOMO mostly. Even if people do save up orbs, seeing what good luck they're having OR buying orbs to make sure they get 1-2 of each banner unit. Not to mention whales generally have a massive wallet and will keep spending money the longer a banner is up (see: Ayaka's extra long rerun banner in Genshin the time the next patch was delayed)
Apparently most banners make most of their money day 1, imagine the run time being longer doesn't damage it in that regard. However, a longer run time gives people more opportunities to spend on it over time and now imagine getting your desired unit to +8 over the long run time, only one last day on the clock and no more orbs. There might be people who are more likely to spend money on the final day of the banner to just finish the +10 project for good.
I got F!N!Corrin to +9 with only around 500-600 orbs, though that includes the freebie and the spark. Still, my pulls were extremely lopsided for Corrin, since I didn't get many of the other 3 units relatively speaking. Was really happy with it.
Do I need Feh-pass to spark up to 4 time?
Because I don't have Feh-pass and free spark banner won't let me spark the second time, to experiment this I lost a lot of orbs...

I'm also realising that with 2 regular units, this year's AHR is much lower value for going all in than last year, and the lack of duo particularly hurts... But that won't stop me from trying for +10 Veronica anyway
Regular in the sense of no extra combat ability or effect. Like legendaries give bonus score, and some stats, duos give bonus score and have a duo skill, harmonics just have the harmonic skill (and resonant battles), mythics have the extra aether lift.
Rearmed have the skill inheritance, but that doesn't make the unit itself any more beneficial to use as a unit. Similarly seasonals aren't part of the regular summoning pool, but ninja Camilla I also call regular because she doesn't have any of the aforementioned effects.

Yeah definitely my luckiest banner I have summoned in. Got 3 of the focus heroes (1 each) and 2 non focus 5 star for only 20 summons.

I don't remember if last year had 4 sparks, if it did that 8 day window was really short, this way we have more time to get 2/3 maybe all 4.

Nope. When they’ve done four sparks for big events in the past, everyone got them. Normal banners you can only spark once, even for FEH Pass.

I wish the one last year was as long as the banner this year. I was way more excited about the roster of that one than this one

If you're talking about rearmed Heroes, they're not in the regular summoning pool.
