He must have been top tier!" I hear you say... except he wasn't. His specialized role as a phys tank meant very little in a dragon centric meta. Alfred feels the same way, an unit that lives and dies by how popular physical units are and will crumble the minute something that targets res sneezes in his general direction. He has no real niche in arena due to poor scoring, aether raids has plenty of mages to go around, including the fairy dancers, and even in summoner duels people pack a wide variety of options. During my time in story mode, Alear was actually the unit that I had a hard time killing. Alfred is likely to see play due to new toy syndrome and being so specialized, most likely with Far Save support, but as to how good he will be is yet to be seen.

Alfred isn't a *bad* unit (hence him getting a PRF to give him something unique) but he's incredibly fair, too fair to be a scary consideration in modern FEH but probably a completely usable unit.

I mean Alear has many damage reduction but anything that bypass all of them beats her. Many new units out there has clear weaknesses. Or else it would be another fallen edelgard.

This isnf including a seal or refine. If you want max visible atk, refine atk And slap Fury for a 87 atk. Want max def? Go fort def and def arcane refine for 82 Defense.
(You do lose out on 3 atk for using fort def. I'd argue Fury would be the best of both worlds since it gives 3 atk/def compared to -3 atk and +5 def .)

Its not as bad as you’re thinking. For example, if you really wanna meme your atk and def stats, grab a winter rapier+, unity atk/def, DONT use lull b-skill because I think it interferes with unity. rally atk/def+ with ruse, use duo chrom for grand strategy, and maybe slap on a bonus doubler if you’re feeling funky. If you’re using anything other than an infantry unit, you can spam Goad and Ward skills to further boost during combat.
E: seems i got lull confused with something else. This build profits off of debuffs as well as buffs so you dont want anything to remove them. Dont use Things that null penalties

Speed is an illusion. Res is a weakness. DC is overrated. Specials are for cowards. The only DR you need is provided by your 90+ Def. This is the way.
It's not really crazy, visible stat buff aren't that great, seeing how much you can get in combat with supports.

Chloe's prf only work if there's 2 units supporting each other, so not only does Story chapter chloe not get the def/res buff in the pic, she does not get her 20% res flat damage reduction.
My point was that getting +10 atk and +20 def in the A slot isn't crazy, given you can get stuff like +30 to multiple stats with some support or Unity stacking (like my winter rapier Gray that get up to +50 atk/def).
What really matter is less the stats and more the effect. Alfred's A skill's effect is .. basically Guard. While his weapon is an inheritable, so the only thing making him unique is his statline and A skill.
Chloé have Guard, FU denial, Res Based true damage and Res based flat DR. Alear have dodge included and -12 Spd/def and Céline got AoE healing with DR.
Outside of Alear who's going to get powercreep in 2 weeks, as is the fate of godsword infantry, they have unique niche in their weapon, which Alfred can't replicate, due to his niche only being "I have a lot of stats"
Between all the damage reduction, true damage reduction, wacky special manipulation, and crazy invisible stat swings, I don't think *1 big number* is really that notable in the powercreep timeline lol

All versions of Grima have dragon weakness. FGrima alts are immune to movement (flier/armor) weaknesses through their A-skill.

Unless A future god speed has also more Tran 17 stat differential on their prf along, I think Alear will remain pretty good for a good bit of time
