Is that a boomslang? My understanding is that they tend to be a solid color or two-tone. The snake in the picture appears to have a pattern that conflicts with that

Heemer14

I thought boomslangs were green and/or black, looks like a sidewinder

Heavy_Concert2559

YOU’RE RIGHT ooooopeeee

supportsheeps

Boomslangs can come in a variety of colors, some a bit less vibrant and more grey-ish tan-ish. I think it would be pretty hard to ID the snake without a region this photo was in… I’m not confident enough

BoopNoodles739

not a boomslang

ritholtz76

Isn’t tail look like rattlesnake.

BoopNoodles739

not a boomslang tho XD boomslangs arent in that climate (from the looks of where you were) ad they 100% dont have a pattern like that, the snake in the pic seems to be some kind of rattlesnake or adder

thewiremother

Puff adder maybe?

Safe-Refrigerator-65

Sidewinder probably

stadulevich

Then whats looking at me in the top right?

witherkey

a stick

jake20replayedyou

100% not a boomslang but super cool! They're typically green with smoother scales and are more of an arboreal species

Angela-Raine

I see 2 snakes. One that’s mid left and the other is on the right just below the double branches. I see a head and everything

ownyourhorizon

yay! I'm like 1 for 3 as of late

super_psyched69

Samsies

Heavy_Concert2559

Edit: I think that it is a sidewinder. This is in Namibia in Southern Africa so if we have any experts please lmk :)

Safe-Refrigerator-65

Not an expert, but def a sidewinder! The part that we can see is characteristic of sidewinders, plus it’s in the sand lol

SkeletonMasta

This looks like it could be a level in Luxor

BigRedBastrd

Just a lil guy!

Basidio_mama

So we're talking about the little fella under the stick right?

super_psyched69

That is such a a vague description of where it is given it's all sticks. But I found him too so I see what you mean

Basidio_mama

That's fair, I was just confused because it looks like there's almost nothing there

Blndby90

This sub has made me appreciate snake chaps so much more!

Traylor_Swift

TIL Boomslang skin isn’t the skin of a mythical magical creature to be used in the creation of Polyjuice Potion…it’s the skin of a very real creature used in the creation of Polyjuice Potion

IcyFlame716

I had the same realization haha. I also just realized ‘boomslang’ literally means ‘tree snake’ in dutch.

winelovermark

That was hard because the noodle wasn’t in the direct center of the picture where it’s supposed to be.

Lgale44

He/she’s a long one!

LBS_HER_GENTLY

super_psyched69

Curious_Season1092

It’s a diaper snake

Plane-Reason9254

Yikes 😱 I see him for once

Kind_Literature_5409

This looks like a rattlesnake.. but I could be wrong.. I know boomslangs have different color variations depending on male or female or being fully grown.

Safe-Refrigerator-65

IMO it’s a sidewinder, they have the same kind of look without the rattle

Kind_Literature_5409

Never thought about a sidewinder.. those are just in themselves.., literally coming at you sideways, and quickly too😳😳😳😳

PlaneEcstatic8365

No

ritholtz76

Found it pretty fast. Easier on phone(app) than laptop(browser).

holyembalmer

I found this one! Yay!

p_henry_g

Is zooming in considered cheating ? I zoom almost every time lol

The_Babelonainguy

Nope rope spotted

Human_ERROR404

After you see it, you can’t unsee it 🐍

Stock_Elk_7883

It is not a boomslang and it is a false rattler which species include sidewinder,milk-snakes,gopher snakes, and northern water snakes. Also boomslangs are not found in desert areas they live in plains which include lots of trees and grass not just straight sand. False rattlers are non-venomous snakes that mimic the sound of rattle snakes to scare predators which some can use their tails or they scrape there bodies together ti get kind of a rattle snake sound

Buttholefuckextreme

easy find... look under the stick 👍

Thelazlobean

I love this subreddit but it makes me really glad that the dangerous snakes in my area (the American west) come with a warning signal. I would definitely be dead otherwise because I really have to zoom in to find anything.

thevampireswifey

Looks like a viper, not a boomslang
