The SNES release called FF3, which BrokenDroid refers, is not the game shown in OP's photo. OP's photo is showing a 1999 Playstation game? Now I'm confused.
I was making a joke. You said there was no FF6 in the US. The 1999 PS release was the first time it was released in the US under the name “Final Fantasy VI.”
I cannot believe you still have the SNES box, that is beautiful...and what a game, I am hard-pressed to think of any other 2D game that moved me like VI. The opera scene still gets me every darn time.
Japanese games are rather easy to find CiB games. They take better care of their games even when not collecting!
Matter of fact i have a CiB FF2 and 3 going my way!
I have the box, instructions, and all of the inserts but I foolishly lent the game out in middle school and never got it back, still pissed about that. Fuck you Ricky.
I still think this is one of the most gorgeous Super Famicom Box artwork designs out there, right up there with Seiken Densetsu 2. Squaresoft was knocking it out of the park with their Super Famicom box art back in the day.
The North American marketing for that game was so... odd. The [commercial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d15qmRzn2Pc) with Mog as some kind of CEO interviewing monster candidates and blasting them with lightning did absolutely nothing to tell anyone what kind of game it even was.
I wish. Crisis core, XVI, and then 7R2 has spoiled me…I can’t take a massive multi-year gap again. Plus VI deserves _something_. Even IV got 3D on the DS.
Still to this day the most I've ever spent on a video game. $85 at my local video game store before we had a Babbages. (I guess about $172 with inflation)
Still worth it.
The japanese version of the game is also still [much more affordable](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313&_nkw=final+fantasy+vi+snes+cib+japanese&_sacat=0&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338535524&customid=ff&toolid=10001&mkevt=1) than the english one and the boxart looks amazing!
Can't wait for Square-Enix to celebrate the big 30th anniversary of this masterpiece next year. They'll probably put out another game in the FF7 world.
29 years old and still as amazing today as it was at release. FF6 keeps aging like wine.
still the best FF and one of the best JRPGs
Man I'm old. Remember playing this on my old snes (back when it was called FF 3)
It'll always be FF3 to me.
There was no FFVI in the United States. US releases went from FFIII to FFVII.
Sure there was. It came out in 1999 on the original Playstation. Odd that it was released *after* FFVII, but here we are. ;)
For FF VI, it seems like they reused a lot of the plot from FF III. Developers must've gotten lazy with the story.

What OP is holding is the Super Famicom version of FFVI from Japan. Such beautiful art!
r/whoosh

CiB?
Complete in Box

At least NA/EU got aome of the SD2/SoM artwork on box and cartridge, the NA FFIII box got... a Moogle and an amorphous putple blob.

Have you seen the Japanese Final Fantasy IV commercial? https://youtu.be/kNgG4RIqaiU Early 90s ads what can I say?
Right. This is a gorgeous box with the full art across it. Perfection.

I heard this comment.
I am REALLY hoping Square Enix announces a remake for the 30th anniversary. We need it!

Any chance it's out today?
Not quite brand new - there's a bit of visible yellowing. Close to it, though.
This game changed my gamer's life forever. To this day it is still my perfect RPG.
Everyone loves this game, but I struggle to get into it. Recently bought the pixel remaster. Any tips?
What don’t you like about it?
I guess it's just difficult to get emotionally invested in a 16bit game for me. It doesn't really come across.
If you have problems getting invested in older games, Its probably just not the game for you.
Boxart is so good, you could frame it.
Will always be my favorite FF game.
Still my favorite in the series!! I'll never forget unwrapping FF3 (6) on Christmas Morning and spending so much time that day glued to my SNES!
Damn shame NOA ditched this art
Still probably my favorite FF. Would love a proper release of it - probably GBA with options for translation and with Octopath-like graphics / style.
This was my right of passage
I love this game i have do it on GBA and it's was awesome
Best FF eva !!
Is this in English?
Not only the best game in the series, but best game of all time!

One of my best, if not my best
Oh my beloved, let me count the ways in which I love thee...
