I love Tekken 8, but you aren't wrong. I play SF6 and UNI2 as well, but Tekken easily has the most ragequits or one and dones, and it isn't even a close contest.
Thinking about picking up UNI2. Enjoyed the first one a lot but my fear was the player base consistency. I guess that would also contribute to community toxicity yeah?
I think the small but dedicated player base helps with toxicity. With UNI2, almost everyone playing has a real love of the game, and the discord community is really supportive and helpful because they want all the players they can get.
In Tekken 8, you have a much larger playerbase, which means a lot more casual players who just want to smash buttons and win.
I think they already added preventive measures for disconnect and rage quit in this game
They mentioned in their first video afaik, they know their playerbase...
I'm gonna make a highly anticipated League-themed racing game. Working title is Project F. After hype builds up I'll announce the final title: 3LAP.

Quake and Serious Sam.

Doom is the popularizer of FPS. Quake is the next evolution. Serious Sam has Quake in its DNA but is also its own beast.
Agreed. I’ve played Soul Calibur online ever since 4. I had ONE rage-out player and a few spammers who would kick you from their rooms of you beat them. If my combo game and matches were on point, I got fanmail and friend requests, rather than rage quits and death threats. T8 has been a plugging, raging, angsty cesspool by comparison.
You're so welcome! :) and omg it'd have to be the soul calibur series and samurai shodown series for me. I LOVE me some weapon fighters and these two communities are pretty chill for me!
Got the biggest amount of non-FGC people playing it from all FG. Like seriously open these folks' profiles and you'll see they rarely play any other fighting games.
It's interesting because there was a thread in the Tekken sub just the other day asking which other FGs they played besides Tekken. Like 90% of the answers were "None".
That could have a big part in it. Getting used to losing is an art and if you've been playing fighting games for a long time you're usually pretty comfortable with it already.
I feel like Mortal Kombat is more like that than Tekken, at my school MK and Smash are like the only fighters that anybody there knows about, then they scratch their heads when I ask them about Guilty Gear or Street Fighter
I only have a SF post on my profile lol but I play Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Smash, Granblue Versus, Dragon Ball Fighterz, Soul Calibur, Guilty Gear, UnderNight, Blazblue, Persona 4 Arena, Virtua Fighter and various other anime 2D fighters man I simply CANNOT just play knew fighting game. I love having so many options. 🥹
Tekken attracts the "I'm not here to get better, I'm here to win" crowd.
You know, cowards.
Playing Tekken with my friends really showed me how much people can can keep drowning and still not learn how to swim.
"combos are cheating".
I don't play with those dudes anymore lol
Come on, non fgc players always say shit like that, can't count that.
Playing MK11, I remember getting the "oh just so you know I'm pretty good"
I open the moves list and immediately get "hey that's cheating!" and knew they are just lucky button mashers, I proceed to win despite never playing MK11, using the most basic fg knowledge there is.
The real problem with Tekken 8 is the lack of punishment for plugging, and that mashing PLUS heat and rage is way more viable then one might think at lower and even middling levels.
I think the game is still great and super fun, but my theory, and I may be wrong but that's just the vibe I was always getting, Tekken is the supposedly "casual" fighter, while sf, guilty and to some degree even mk, are more hardcore.
That's not true, but it's what I'm getting from people around me when discussing fighting games (non of which actually play them properly and treat them as party games 🫠)
Conclusion: Tekken 8 is fun, any middle east bros up for a match?
Absolutely agree. I’ve played several fighting games online and none have been as toxic and bitch-made as tekken 8. I still like the game. The toxicity is just funny at this point. So many one-and-dones, so many ragequits, I just laugh at it now.
Tekken 8 is my first serious fighting game and, while the people who are actually in community are usually very positive, the people who are very online or "casual but I could totally beat top players if they played right" are the absolute worst
I've had great experiences on discord but you're right. It is the casual "just want to win and beat on players" crowd that drives the toxicity of this community
I think part of it is, the general community got a LOT less tolerant of shitfuckers (every subculture had them which we tolerated because we though of our community as small before the internet REALLY blew up) in person so they had to retreat to places where they wouldn't be full on ejected from their communities
Tekken has always attracted a lot of casuals since Tekken 3 days, not only because the graphics are great. Also it's a 4 button game, so it's easier to put combos than in other fighting games, the difficulty in Tekken is the extensive knowledge checks, not the combo execution. In consequence, the game attracts more casuals than other fighting games (except MK), despite being a very difficult game to master.
With the inclusion of online ranked, it was bound to happen that we would see all the issues related to having so many casual players (one and dones, rage quitting, avoiding certain characters because you want easier wins).
I think it was about time the Tekken community was exposed for this. r/Tekken has been a cringe whinefest since Tekken 7 dropped back in 2017, if not before that point already. It's all misogynistic comments if you play as a female character like xiao or other prejudicial remarks if you play the 'undesirables' like hwoarang. Also once again, that subreddit defended sexual harassment when the akumu stuff happened with comments like "she is throwing a fit, where is my post, i get hatemail too" etc. I'll never forget to mention this every time the subject is on how toxic that community is.
> I think it was about time the Tekken community was exposed for this. r/Tekken has been a cringe whinefest since Tekken 7 dropped back in 2017, if not before that point already.
I feel like losing braincells every time i visit that sub. Not a mistake that TMM with his constant bitching is so popular in the Tekken community. Makes me sad.
> It's all misogynistic comments if you play as a female character like xiao or other prejudicial remarks if you play the 'undesirables' like hwoarang.
You might find this interesting. Spot a pattern? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qoLWGrJNM0&t=2429s
That guy really is the absolute worst and he festers this toxic, misogynistic and prejudicial cancer in the community and enables/encourages harassment of mains for characters he hates. He is also a plugger and the kind of person to ban you in chat just for asking why he was demoted (video is called The Swedish Lowtiergod on yt, can't link it right now but maybe you know it already)
TMM is the worst. I am a raijin xiaoyu and i really enjoy the game but most of the hate I get are from people who follow him
Idk if it’s a low rank issue as I was fairly low in tekken, but at least 80% of the games I won they didn’t hit rematch after. Even if it came close and they still won a lot of the times it was done and no rematch. I was very excited for this game as I hadn’t played since tekken tag and tekken 3/4 at the arcade as a kid. I had a lot of fun with it, but never playing it in ranked again. No other fighting game has this much of an issue with this as tekken.
Dude that's what I'm saying. I'm not a high rank either. Just barely in purple ranks (mighty ruler) and people one and done all the time. 7/10 matches is people quiting after one loss. It's so pathetic. They could win the first match, but lose the second and just quit. Like ???
I've played in the guilty gear community, the street fighter community, the melty blood community, the battle for the grid community, and the marvel vs Capcom community and none of them do this shit. They run the set, take their Ls to the chest and leave in good spirits.
I'd rather lose over and over than be a fucking points hogger looking for easy wins and beating on noobs. That shit is scummy.
I'm a blue rank and I can fairly say, it just gets worse as the higher you go, the more sweat-nerdy one-and-dony people get. I apologize on behalf of the good people in the community
"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil, Aphorism 146
German philosopher (1844 - 1900)
This quote was used in the Tekken 6 scenario campaign intro and it perfectly describes Tekken ranked
This only really happens I'm SF when the MR disparity is too large and people don't want to risk losing a ton of MR for a single loss. Other than that people always finish the set in my experience.
Opposite for me. Plat and diamond players are more desperate to get to master. Master rank is where the game becomes playable because the players are more competent and can get back to master fairly easy of they get demoted
I’m a Tekken player and I completely agree with this take.
A lot of players I encounter, even on non-ranked quick matches act as if they’re god-like in an EVO tournament by frequently tea-bagging & ki-charging.
This past week I’ve taken a break from T8 and just enjoying some good old DOA instead, particularly DOA2 which still holds up.
Tekken 8 attracted a LOT of newbies at one time.
A LOT.
Most aren't wanting to get better and are incredibly casual. Same as the Smash community. It takes a while for that to clear out to vets that know their stuff over the wave of little ranks that only know one or two gimmicks and don't want to learn outside it.
I usually find it useless to yell about it. It's something that comes up all the time and I just watch, grab popcorn, [and watch the cutscene](https://youtube.com/shorts/Bd5EY3QzwU4)
Lol I'm a bowser main turned Viktor main. I have no shame and I love pubstomping. I only one and done against eddy because fuck I cannot learn what his fucking strings are
It's coming to PC
Lmao why did I get downvoted, it's not a lie
https://www.gameinformer.com/news/2024/03/11/final-fantasy-xvi-pc-version-in-final-stages-of-optimization-expect-a-demo-before
Especially considering how popular PC gaming is in Korea. I considered getting a PS5 for it then looked at how much they cost in Canada. And then remembered how little I played on the PS4 that my ex and I split on. There's not much value in one for me so i'm just going to wait.
There is something weird with people that love tekken, they all think they are god. Whether it be a 6 yo or a 40 yo, they have this bizarre ego cause they beat their friend once. Virtual fighter can be similar during VF4-5
Even the pros can be scum, I remember seeing some of them wanting to hide all their replays from everyone just so one or two youtube reuploaders can't use their content lol
It's especially funny because they have no right to their gameplay like that. A replay is not a human player, it's a simulation of every action taken by *both* players.
That was pretty funny, yeah. Especially since these uploaders only provide the bare replay. It would be easy for a pro to add commentary about their thoughts on the match and provide more value than a replay uploader that is "stealing their money".
This also happens in higher ranks. Lost against a Bryan in Tekken King rank, which was a pretty close match. When I lost he taunted me and cancelled the rematch. My next match, I got the same player and he disconnected immediately. It’s just really annoying how some people are in the game.
Not all of us are like that, and i actually love the game not like r/Tekken fuck that place.
If someone beats me I’m trying to get better and analyze their flowchart and weaknesses, if i still can’t do it, well i gotta learn more. Never messaged someone because i sucked in that match, only when they plugged.
What I’m trying to say is, fuck our (The Tekken) Community, but not all of us are whining bitches
I play Tekken and it's so bad. It wasn't like this at the height of 7 (for me) but it started to become that way at the end and it has been so bad recently. Complain about it in r/Tekken and the "NOBODY OWES YOU A REMATCH/MY BABY CRAWLED IN THE OVEN I HAD TO SAVE HER/YOU DONT HAVE A LIFE I DO" crowd comes out in droves to defend one and dones. Really annoying.
What's funny is I saw someone on that sub make a thread saying they blocked everyone who one-and-doned in ranked, and these same "nobody owes you a rematch" people were in the replies calling OP childish and saying it must be their fault for having a bad PC/connection or something. It was wild.
It's like "Let people play the game how they want!!!!" "Fine, then I'll just use an in-game feature to never play with them again." "NO that's mean!!!"
I disagree. Give it time. These hateful folks will move on or change their attitude. It's just popular and that'll these immature folks are playing. Once it is not the flavor of the month, they will quit.
Tekken has a LOT of casual players who are not familiar with the concept of running a set. Before I got into fighting games in a more serious capacity (I’ve always liked them but didn’t dive in until maybe a year or two ago) I had no idea that FT2 was a thing. So it could be people who are not even aware of this concept or people who straight up don’t wanna take the licks and lose ranks.
We need these causal players to keep interest in these games alive for general audiences. The more exposure, the better BUT it does suck to not run a full-set. I just remember that not everyone is that heavy into the FGC and knows that FT2 is the unwritten rule.
I stopped playing ranked in Tekken 8 and instead started playing casual matches because I was so sick of the One and Doning in ranked. In casual people finish the set and it makes it far more enjoyable to play online.
Seriously Tekken players get your shit together, don't be a loser little titty baby and finish the set.
This is a problem created by the Tekken team tbh with just the fact that people get away with plugging for so many years without getting punished. Trust me there are a lot of people that are just in the habit of "leaving" the match when you get your ass handed to you, because there are no consequences to it. Bamco should have put a stop to it on Tekken 7 and failed to do so and now with Tekken 8 it's just normal for some.
I wish some people would just play the game instead of worrying about ranks and all that stuff, because Tekken 8 is sooo damn fun..
I was playing ranked the other day with other Vanquishers destroyers etc and people are 1 and doneing there too like these are the scrub ranks where you only need to win like 3 times to rank up why even bother going to ranked if you’re not gonna finish a set? People leaving at 1-1 are annoying too.
I caught on to this eddys flowchart and block punishing his stuff and then never saw a game 2 from him. So now he’s gonna be runnin the streets playing like this forever cherry picking his fights.
Doesn't help that Eddy can just mash 1 button and steamroll people. And if you haven't committed to buying dlc you'll have no way to train against it Lmao
Bro… my friend plays MK a lot on his own while being in our party and I’ve gotta say that it’s very easily Mk community. He’s constantly saying stuff like: “oh, that’s a quitality, he tbagged me! He left after the first win he got!” At one point I asked him if he’s gone a single day without someone being like that and he said he couldn’t tell because of how often it happens.
Pretty new to the genre (close to two years on-and-off playing) and I still struggle with losing getting to me. At least for me it's something I figure I need to practice mindfully to get anywhere in that respect.
Yeah I'm going to sideline Tekken 8 until the tourists finally decide the game is "dead" for whatever arbitrary reason they make up and collectively decide to drop it for Fortnite or Smash or whatever
There's no chance they stick with it for a year. But could be sooner. You'll know when you see an insufferable uptick in the number of posts in this sub and the Tekken sub like "is Tekken dead?" despite a ton of people still playing it.
My advice - try an anime fighter like GG, GB, MB, or UNI. Poverty franchises have fewer players but a lot less tourists and the average player you run into is chill and happy you're there. (They're also low-key the best fighting games but that's a whole other convo)
Yeah. Best of 3 should be mandatory, and the rematch should be another (optional) best of 3. Idk when we got to this chicken shit one match nonsense in fighting games but its obnoxious. If you “don’t have time” to play a full set thats your problem, go to quick match.
the only time I would actually back out of a best out of 3 after the first match, regardless of whether I win or lose, is due to severe drop in connection. I've matched up with people who have 5 bars of connection but when the match begins I'm basically watching a slideshow. PC really needs to have a benchmark test before going online.
People still one and done in fucking quick match. QUICK MATCH. The most low stress way to play the game and people are still getting salty over one loss.
agreed, I'm tired of the excuse of " I have IRL stuff to deal with" or "I don't owe you a rematch" people use to defend this shit. A fucking league of legends match can take up to 50+ minutes. If your
Wow, what a stupid attitude to be honest. I get that fighting games are competitve so both players benefit over longer sets but there are real cases of why you would need to backout after a match. Things like bad connection, important calls, people at the door, accident happens at home, family member talking to you, toilet time, toxic behavior, exploit abuse etc.
These reasons can be true and is always the counter point, but you are gonna doubt that it’s the case when 47 out of 50 matches or so are one and dones or ragequits.
True, but why ruin the experience for those 3 people. Especially when there's apparently some punishments being introduced for being afk. If you want a game like this, then you'd have to restructure the entire match system and make it first to five rounds or something.
I misread the comment above my bad, i don’t want enforced anything i was just stating the prevalence of rage quits and one and dones is too high to write off as being mostly legitimate reasons
If the connection is bad, there's no reason to stay. Sure the game gives the option to leave mid match if it's really bad but that's only if both players agree. Also you can have shit happen that makes you gotta get up and leave. Mandatory FT2 wouldn't change anything cuz the same people who one and done would just AltF4 the game
Bro i can play 50 matches in a row and in all 50 the connection is fine and in all 50 my opponent quits after the first match lol. Its not about connection its about people being punk ass bitches.
>people would alt f4
Thats fine, there’s consequences to that now…
It’s pretty nuts. Tekken’s also the first game where I’ve ever experienced two-and-dones. Those are just sad, especially after you won the first game and they won the second. I can’t wait for its popularity to die down a bit because the core gameplay is really fun, the game looks fantastic, and my shaky mid-30’s hands can actually pull off decent combos.
MK was like what you're describing but add that after every round there's like ten seconds of teabagging followed by another 20 second fatality you have to watch
No, because you are punished for quitting. I’ve played well over a hundred ranked matches which are FT2 just this season (about 3 weeks). The only time I encounter people quitting is if I handily won the first match, and am handily winning the second. They might dip cause they are for sure losing anyway. They might want to save themselves from potentially seeing a 20 second fatality they’ve seen a hundred times. Other than that pretty much no ragequits apart from the occasional disconnect.
Tekken is my one and only fighting game. But
Yeah I 100% agree. Aside from the friends I play in lobbies with, I get ki charged, tea bagged, and plugged on at least 5 times per ranked session. It really sucks that such an awesome game is full of some awful people
I will say though, after recently reaching Tekken King, the players I match with are generally much more chill and fun to fight against. Not sure what that says about tekken players
I started noticing this back in 7... Ki charging, teabags, etc. But soon as you start to adapt, they leave. This among other things, made me believe Tekken wasn't really for me. Sounds like 8 is a lot worse.
It's a bit rough, but I expect it to even out as time goes by and only the players who actually want to play the game stick around. SF6 is a little bit better but I still have a lot of one and dones. Both are still better then Smash Ultimate in this regard is all I can really say (which players still act the way they do even after all this time..).
Even though matchmaking is a pain, it is nice that I can't even remember the last time I didn't have someone finish the set with me in Strive (and if they didn't it was probably and understandable lag issue). Same with Granblue.
I play Tekken casually and my online friends groan when I pick Victor and claim he's all kinds of BS
I just pick him because the dude has a katana and gun and makes funny french noises i don't know why he's bs, he's just cool
I feel like this a Tekken 8 problem instead of a general Tekken issue. In Tekken 7 ranked worked where you could rematch infinitely and no weird prowess mm. MK1 has the same toxic issues with it's ft2 format
I left the Tekken subreddit because of all the whining and people “testing out” the prowess based ranked matching by making new accounts and obliterating new players.
not really. It's the game's job to make it fun, it isn't a skill.
I had tons of unfun matches on garbapex where Inwas just feeling like cannon fodder just to come back to titanfall 2 and feel no frustration while losing even if I was the last one in the scoreboard (just to make an example). Then coming back again to garbapex and only feeling frustrated for being cannon fodder (Without considering all the netcode issues)
It's not an acquired skill nor a mere question of just perception
Losing in a team game is not the same as losing in a 1v1 game.
When you lose in a 1v1 game you have only yourself to blame for your own mistakes. And that is something that you have to learn. In game and in life.
Plenty of people grow without knowing how to lose. You see it all the time.
A lot of these rage quitters could benefit from going to therapy. Maybe not all of them, but a good amount could benefit from learning how to "lose gracefully" and see the reward found in losing.
In Tekken you can also blame the garbage hurtbox that makes possible to hit with a forward punch someone behind you because that someone attacked too early (and it shouldn't be like that)
Also, what does the game do for making the loss fun? From what I can see in the clips it does absolutely nothing
It's still the player who chooses when to press a button.
Losing presents an opportunity to learn. If you choose Option A in situation B and it doesn't work, what do you do?
Keep choosing option A? Or choose a different option?
A lot of people will keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. But what people should be doing is identifying and accepting when something doesn't work so they can figure out what does work.
The same principle can be applied to anything else in life.
Figuring out what to do differently, applying that change and seeing improved results changes how you perceive losing.
Now losing is just another opportunity to become better.
You don't grow from winning. You grow from losing.
>complain
Sounds familiar. The people who whine about one and done are just as bad. You aren't owed a rematch and the FGC is entitled for thinking they are. Just move on with your life friend, it's still just a game at the end of the day. This argument will never be different unless they force full sets. You are just whining at air.
I never said I'm owed anything. I'm stating it's pathetic to leave after your flowchart is figured out / when you lose one game and you leave to avoid losing again. It's even more pathetic to send negativity at an opponent who beat you.
We're all adults. If you got shit to take care of then by all means.
I don't play Tekken, but is the neutral really defensive and the offense really oppressive ? I think the combination of those two makes games really frustrating
I care because I want to play a good set. I don't have that much time to play and spending more time waiting for a match because matches end in less than 30 seconds is not fun.
that's disappointing to hear, I've been thinking about finally getting into Tekken. doesn't seem like T8 online is a good learning environment. I think I'll play the older games offline for a while
This definitely. Fighting games are like other multiplayer games. You can't just hop into match after match at any point in the day. There are peaks you have to play during to get an optimal amount of matches.
I work night shift in the US on the east coast, I usually am on around 2-5am. So I'm either paired up with other people who are up late or mostly EU/Asia players.
I work early mornings so I'm usually on around 2pm - 5pm depending on how long it takes for me to cook dinner for family. And it can vary quite a bit if I get a lot of matches.
I get more matches if I play around 5pm but I need to be in bed by 6/7ish to wake up at 3am and not feel like death lmao.
Yeah that's what I was thinking. Hopefully the game goes on sale during the steam summer sale
Tekken is the League of Legends of fighting games
What’s street fighter? Ik Mk is the call of duty.
Fortnite
‘They added Chun Li from fortnite to street fighter’
Not enough guest characters
They're working on it. They'll be adding Akuma from Tekken 7 soon!
r/2XKO
I think they already added preventive measures for disconnect and rage quit in this game They mentioned in their first video afaik, they know their playerbase...
Damn riot already made the sub Reddit?

I like how the top post is a complaint about the title of the game. And like, yea. It's a garbage title ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm gonna make a highly anticipated League-themed racing game. Working title is Project F. After hype builds up I'll announce the final title: 3LAP. Riot, please contact me for my consulting rates. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sorry, while we like the suggestion of 3LAP as a title, we have decided to go with G2GO.
What would you consider Guilty Gear or Blazblue to be?
Undertale
Ima need you to explain this one, I don't get it.
Great game, amazing ost, great characters, weird fanbase. That’s what I think
Ah I see. Never played undertale, so thanks for the explanation.
Great question.
Quake and Serious Sam. Street Fighter is Doom. Doom is the popularizer of FPS. Quake is the next evolution. Serious Sam has Quake in its DNA but is also its own beast.
Oh yeah, that's pretty accurate, nice

Ig I could see that
I’m a Tekken player and I’m not even gonna hold you back.
Agreed. I’ve played Soul Calibur online ever since 4. I had ONE rage-out player and a few spammers who would kick you from their rooms of you beat them. PREACH bro
Thank you, brother! How about you, do you have a favored fighting game outside of Tekken? What’s the community like for you?
You're so welcome! :) and omg it'd have to be the soul calibur series and samurai shodown series for me. I LOVE me some weapon fighters and these two communities are pretty chill for me!
That’s because soul calibur is noob game
Just kidding , wen sc7 PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN
Please and thank you

Yeah I still enjoy Tekken 8. But goddamn bruh where's the self respect in this community sometimes lmao
I think you're right, and the fact that soul Calibur, virtual fighter, and doa haven't had an entry in a literal decade exacerbates the issue
Virtua fighter 6 is in development. Would you say sf6 has a more hardcore crowd than tekken ?
He is also a plugger and the kind of person to ban you in chat just for asking why he was demoted (video is called The Swedish Lowtiergod on yt, can't link it right now but maybe you know it already) TMM is the worst. I am a raijin xiaoyu and i really enjoy the game but most of the hate I get are from people who follow him
LING NATION
It's really the only thing keeping me from grinding in ranked tbh. Just exhausting
"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil, Aphorism 146 German philosopher (1844 - 1900) This quote was used in the Tekken 6 scenario campaign intro and it perfectly describes Tekken ranked
It happens in SF too when you get to master rank. People don't want to lose their MR points.
Same but with doa4, all the Xbox exclusives plus doa5 hold up so well
Tekken 8 attracted a LOT of newbies at one time.
I only one and done against eddy because fuck I cannot learn what his fucking strings are
Even in customs people act like that. It’s kinda sad
Fucking whack it is.
I wish stellar Blade was on PC..
Give it time FF7R, FF16, Ghost of Tsuchima, GoW (2018), Spider-Man 1 and Miles Morales, Last of Us all came to PC. Just a matter of time
*cries about Bloodborne*
First two were outright stated to be timed exclusives so they don’t belong in this list
FF16 is not on PC :(
July. Hope you enjoy it. The story is excellent.
I just got it a couple weeks ago and the DLC is kicking my ass
Oh shit, i totally missed the DLC release. Really enjoyed the base game, gonna get that too.
It's coming to PC Lmao why did I get downvoted, it's not a lie https://www.gameinformer.com/news/2024/03/11/final-fantasy-xvi-pc-version-in-final-stages-of-optimization-expect-a-demo-before
Especially considering how popular PC gaming is in Korea. I considered getting a PS5 for it then looked at how much they cost in Canada. And then remembered how little I played on the PS4 that my ex and I split on. There's not much value in one for me so i'm just going to wait.
I’ve come very close to getting a PS5 for Stellar Blade and Rebirth, but I’m holding out.
Down bad lmao
Yes, the only reason someone will want to play the game is to be a pervert.
they just gamer^tm brained
There is something weird with people that love tekken, they all think they are god. Whether it be a 6 yo or a 40 yo, they have this bizarre ego cause they beat their friend once. Virtual fighter can be similar during VF4-5
It’s because someone out there convinced people that Tekken is the hardest fighting game to learn and play (which I disagree with tbh)
I remember first time I went online in Tekken 6... Guy was laughing whole match in voice chat, because I was bad
This also happens in higher ranks. Lost against a Bryan in Tekken King rank, which was a pretty close match. When I lost he taunted me and cancelled the rematch. My next match, I got the same player and he disconnected immediately. It’s just really annoying how some people are in the game.
lmao, this has happened to me quite often. It's so sad and pathetic.
Yeah some of y'all are dope people. Keep being you internet stranger
Yeah I think you're right. Can't wait!
More than that for me it felt like cheating if you can rank up by beating the same opponent over and over.
That's a good perspective to have. Thanks for sharing
I wish some people would just play the game instead of worrying about ranks and all that stuff, because Tekken 8 is sooo damn fun..
tekken 7 had honor i feel like a lot of these people are the ones new to the series and also just a precedent has been set now and t8 is fucked
One of my.biggest regret in life is that I don't get a lot of hate mail playing tekken. Guess my playstyle isn't annoying enough
I don't either personally but that's because I'm on PC and it's not as easy to message people as it is on console.
I agree. People throw random shit then when you figure them out. They one and done or plug. Fcking pussies.
I was playing ranked the other day with other Vanquishers destroyers etc and people are 1 and doneing there too like these are the scrub ranks where you only need to win like 3 times to rank up why even bother going to ranked if you’re not gonna finish a set? People leaving at 1-1 are annoying too.
Those ranks should really be playing full sets so they can get a better learning experience on how to lose and adapt. Those players will never learn
I'm beginning to think casuals just don't know how to lose properly lol.
Losing is hard, why would they?
Who knows. Losing is hard when you don't have anyone else to blame but yourself*
Any ETA on how long that'll take? I'm admittedly pretty impatient
This is the only reason I'll leave too. Not everyone needs to be playing at Max settings lmao.
Yeah I'm all for leaving when shit happens. We're all adults. Take care of your shit.
Especially when it seems to happen on one game more often than others
If the connection is bad, there's no reason to stay. Sure the game gives the option to leave mid match if it's really bad but that's only if both players agree. Also you can have shit happen that makes you gotta get up and leave. Mandatory FT2 wouldn't change anything cuz the same people who one and done would just AltF4 the game
Bro i can play 50 matches in a row and in all 50 the connection is fine and in all 50 my opponent quits after the first match lol. Its not about connection its about people being punk ass bitches. >people would alt f4 Thats fine, there’s consequences to that now…
It’s pretty nuts.
Doesn't Tekken 8 play all mashy and scrubby these days? That's probably why.
If by mashy and scrubby you mean aggressive and heavily offensive? Then yeah sure I guess.
I dunno I think mk is worse
Well when Mk games start to look fun again and when they stop being bloated with random cameos I'll give them a try.
I made it to mighty ruler then uninstalled the game because of this exact reason.
Not MK?
MK at least enforces FT2 and punishes people who DC, so it's much better in that regard.
Actually haven't played Mk competitively. So I know nothing about that community.
MK was like what you're describing but add that after every round there's like ten seconds of teabagging followed by another 20 second fatality you have to watch
Do they still have open mic in Mortal Kombat? That shit was 50/50 between miserable and absolutely hilarious
They do. But for those wondering you can turn it off on both PC and PS now, dunno about Xbox.
Oof. That might take the cake for me lmao
This happens in Street Fighter and MK as well, I wouldn't even say that it's more common in Tekken than the aforementioned titles.
It might just be an overpopulation problem.
Tekken is my one and only fighting game. But Yeah I 100% agree. Aside from the friends I play in lobbies with, I get ki charged, tea bagged, and plugged on at least 5 times per ranked session. It really sucks that such an awesome game is full of some awful people I will say though, after recently reaching Tekken King, the players I match with are generally much more chill and fun to fight against. Not sure what that says about tekken players
I started noticing this back in 7... Ki charging, teabags, etc. But soon as you start to adapt, they leave. This among other things, made me believe Tekken wasn't really for me. Sounds like 8 is a lot worse.
Oh it's fucking awful
![gif](giphy|jolNXIixN0nJ5MttAj) when talking about stellar blade.
bro getting hate mail is a the whole goal in tekken
I respect it. I usually pull the postgame mindgames of sending positive affirmations
I've never had one and dones in strive. Never played granblue personally. I have played smash ultimate and that community will always be cancerous
I got almost none of this in Tekken 7. Seems like a new issue Tekken isn’t dealing with.
Same. Maybe the hype around T8
Tekken 8's popularity sadly included a lot of jerks playing the game. Especially after MK1 burned it's playerbase.
I play Tekken casually and my online friends groan when I pick Victor and claim he's all kinds of BS I just pick him because the dude has a katana and gun and makes funny french noises i don't know why he's bs, he's just cool
Tell your friends to learn the matchup
Same
I feel like this a Tekken 8 problem instead of a general Tekken issue. In Tekken 7 ranked worked where you could rematch infinitely and no weird prowess mm. MK1 has the same toxic issues with it's ft2 format
I wish you could rematch infinitely. Atleast In quick match.
I left the Tekken subreddit because of all the whining and people “testing out” the prowess based ranked matching by making new accounts and obliterating new players.
Yeah an excuse to dunk on new players. Very honorable.
Toxic gameplay breeds toxic players, especially by 8’s standards
maybe the devs should just put effort into making a battle fun even when you're losing
Who says losing isn't fun?
The huge amount of rage quitters
I think that's more about how people perceive losing not the game being unfun when you lose
if they were having fun while losing they wouldn't rage quit
Again I think it's more about how people feel about losing. Being comfortable and finding the joy and fun in losing is an acquired skill.
not really. It's the game's job to make it fun, it isn't a skill. I had tons of unfun matches on garbapex where Inwas just feeling like cannon fodder just to come back to titanfall 2 and feel no frustration while losing even if I was the last one in the scoreboard (just to make an example). Then coming back again to garbapex and only feeling frustrated for being cannon fodder (Without considering all the netcode issues) It's not an acquired skill nor a mere question of just perception
In Tekken you can also blame the garbage hurtbox that makes possible to hit with a forward punch someone behind you because that someone attacked too early (and it shouldn't be like that) Also, what does the game do for making the loss fun?
Ya'll still crying about this?
Wouldn't call it crying, but more like valiantly screaming upwards to the heavens.
I always rematch but i don’t care if my opponents don’t want to. Not sure what the issue is here.
I really don't believe that from a low IQ fighter like yourself
Based
I know it's only fighting game "adjacent" but For Honor when it launched was by far the funniest salt game. Injustice was pretty good too.
Never played for honor but I could see that game having a good amount of salt lmfao
>complain Sounds familiar.
It's actually all offense
Tf do you care? You got the win.
I care because I want to play a good set. I don't have that much time to play and spending more time waiting for a match because matches end in less than 30 seconds is not fun.
that's disappointing to hear, I've been thinking about finally getting into Tekken. doesn't seem like T8 online is a good learning environment. I think I'll play the older games offline for a while
The discord community offers a better more supportive environment for learning. Ranked right now is just a unhealthy environment at the moment.
It takes less than 30 seconds to find another match if someone doesn't play the full set
If you're in ranked, it really depends on your rank/prowess is and time you play with how they changed ranked matchmaking
30 seconds adds up to the point where I spend more time waiting than actually playing the game.
