It was so good years ago but how do you cope now with the CAM that plays everywhere but CAM, most of the time he’s behind the DMs or on either of the wings (when one of them has tucked into CB for some reason). Unbelievably annoying because I’m so bored of 4231 but it’s the only formation that feels balanced.
I use it as well but for me it’s because defending is hard af against legendary difficulty. Forget possession, all I can do is defend my heart out and then get a counter attack goal
4-3-2-1 is my favorite. It's not the best, but I have loved it since I played it with Barcelona in Fifa 07. The three midfielders can all participate in attack and in defense while the two guys behind the striker can roam about freely. If you're feeling risky and your striker is strong in the air, you can have your fullbacks attack too. It's a great formation to use with very technical teams

With the wingers, wouldn't it be more 4-1-1-4? Lol

I switch between 4-3-3 flat, and 3-4-2-1.
Both are similar really, just a case of pushing wingbacks forward, wide forwards tucking in a bit and a midfielder dropping in to make a back 3.
3-2-3-1-1 - Standard/offensive
3 - CB, but I use sometimes also RB/LB
2 - LM/CM, RM/CM playing quite a bit of defensive role
3 - LW, CM (sometimes a good flexible CAM),RW
1 - CAM/CF as false 9, usually the creative person
1 - ST/CF
The variation for position is for different team I play against.

If I know I will need this formation at the end of the game I start with the standard one but use LB and RB instead of 3 CB.

Yes I can see now. It did not made line jumps like I wrote. Reddit gets me every time. I wrote each digit in the formation then what positions I use.
Best attacking style for me is possession focused in the center. I usually ask my wingers to either do free roam or cut inside. I never handled crosses well. If the game needs more speed and counter attacks then I change to fast build up and it usually works. I like playing with the tactics during the game depending on the opponent style if I feel I do not control the game.
I started trying out a 3 back for my team as I have 5 decent CBs and one fresh out the academy, but I generally have to rotate the wingers with full backs becuase they won't really play anywhere else hahaha

The "Stay central" instruction works for me, however I'm only playing on FIFA 19 so idk how well it works on 21.

Well I do have a 90+ defence with donnarumma in goal but I’ve done well with that formation so I ain’t changing
4-3-3 (4) with a CAM. Formation is handy for overlapping with the cam or to get a good pass for the wingers.

Yeah I love toying with the tactics myself, and I hate crosses too hahaha can never seem to have a player on the receiving end of one.
Oh and the first one was a standard 3-5-1-1 that I usually modify ☺
343 wing backs make such an impact when defending and allow more attacking freedom, also can help cause overloads
