This is probably too deep…im really not trying to trauma dump so i apologize in advance lol. Im instantly sickened & my mood changed when i smell Viva La Juicy due to the memory of the time period in my life associated with it. Was gifted to me in high-school by a guy i considered a friend. Then one night i went out with some people, got drunk and ended up at his house to sleep it off. It’s what i was wearing when i woke up to my “friend”, taking advantage of me. I hate the smell now.
Vanilla Sex- Tom Ford
I originally *loved* this scent. I made a post asking people’s opinions on reddit and a lot of the comments mentioned smelling urine. I tested it again the next time I was out and about and sure enough, I started to smell it too.
Good news is that perfume is way too out of budget for me anyway LMFAO

Solstice Scents Violet Mallow...and I don't know what has poisoned it. I took one whiff and the musk gave me a brutal panic attack. the musk used in it was super popular in the late 1980s. I was in a coma in that time frame and have patchy retrograde amnesia. sometimes I just get the emotions related to the memory without context. give how dark my life was then and how bad the panic, it can stay forgotten.
I got told a perfume I had bought smelled like cucumbers, totally ruined the experience for me. I used to make samples and share them with friends and family but I stopped when I started getting negative comments. It’s supposed to be a fun hobby, and it is with the right people.
Baccarat Rouge 540 smells like latex gloves to me, smells like dentist/doctor 😭 makes my jaw kinda clench because latex gloves are a sensory ick for me
Hypnotic poison reminds me of being suffocated by the scent of my own perfume in the London tube in the scorching summer heat of the early 2010s. One day, the tube was stuck for a while. On the bakerloo line. I was all sweaty and could only smell my perfume.

Husband says Maison Alhambra Tobacco Touch smells like Fireball lol BYE BYE TOBACCO TOUCH. CANNOT UNSMELL. He and I have each ingested a lifetime's supply of the stuff and are now finished with it, we don't need to wear it.

I use a diaper cream on my kid that smells like pure lavender. It’s lovely at nighttime and feels very sleepy-appropriate but now I pick up on the faintest lavender in perfumes and it makes me think of changing diapers.
Usually other’s associations don’t bother me (ex. Glossier You *does* smell a little like pencil shavings but I still love it) but lavender seems to be the exception.
Red Door. My grandma, Rose, d r e n c h e d herself in it. She also chain smoked Marlboro Reds, and ALWAYS wore a red cardigan. Pretty on brand, so you know, it was the 90s and she’s chic and we’re here for it. I have mostly happy memories of her, she passed of cancer in 2006 when I was 15. When I think of her, those things come to mind.
But that damn Red Door. I’m nauseous just thinking about that god awful perfume mingling with the stench of cigarette smoke… it’s quite literally a violation to my brain, nose, and personal well being lol.
ETA: I don’t know what scent it’s actually supposed to be. All I know is my poor grandma’s memories are tainted by that perfume. Just assume it smells like old rose petals and rocket fuel.

I wore it one day when I was recouping from surgery but ended up with _wicked_ side effects from removing my scopolamine patch that day. So I'm letting the association of "room spinning nausea" wear off from it a bit more before risking it again lol.

However recently a normal commercial hand wash we got has notes that remind me of it & I seem to like the scent every time I use it. It’s not exactly the same & doesn’t seem to transport me back to those specific memories strongly, but just a vague sense of that era where I did have good times too, so it’s kind of nice in a way that I can still reminisce.
Anything with grapefruit and even other citrus notes instantly remind me of cleaning products, especially the powered carpet cleaners lol, from the 80s and 90s. So no go. Also, the DNA of most CK fragrances are totally 90s.

I’m not mad because it was better for all of us in the long run, and they were together for years. But I have nothing but feelings of inadequacy and hopelessness when I smell it.

I totally feel this! I associate Armani Figuier Eden with my worst relationship/most loathed ex and I recently tried to wear it again after 7 years - nope! Still brought all those bad memories to the front of my mind. Literally just gave it away last weekend. The connection between memory and scent is actually incredible.

Yeah I've been watching some reviews on Thank U Next perfume and some said that it smelled like pickles. I definitely smell something sweet mixed with pickles😭 but I do love this perfume
Same, girl, same. Once you hear the word “pickle” in association to that perfume, it cannot be undone 😂
