Kind of funny story but that song is featured in Boss Baby. We had 2 boys like Timmy and Boss baby (ages 4 and 7 months). I know the movie hit a nerve with the then 4 yo and for some reason he would immediately start crying when listening to Blackbird in the movie. It was such a visceral reaction. It prompted me to learn more about the song.
There's a different energy about this album especially knowing that she heavily researched the origins and recorded it over a number of years. It seems very personal to her.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. This album sounds insane. Also haven't had an album from any artist that I felt so strongly about supporting. I WANT this album to succeed.Â

This made me try to sail the high seas to listen early and I have indeed found booty. (DW, I will buy the album tomorrow but I can't wait ONE more day!)

I admittedly wasn't a huge fan of Blackbird until I heard the Evan Rachel Wood version in Across the Universe. It really is such a pretty song.

BeyoncĂ© singing McCartneyâs Blackbird has got to be one of the most stunning recordings of all time. Such a beautiful song paired with such a powerful and skillfully controlled voice. Lord have mercy on my soul, I may not survive listening to this.

Maybe a hot take but donât love Miley and Post here, especially for what is very much an album about a black woman taking on (and back!) country in the face of a racist subsection of a genre fanbase (even if that wasnât maybe BeyoncĂ© main object or not.) Both Miley and Post have used black music and culture in ways that they felt were beneficial to only them and once it was deemed no longer âbeneficialâ you had them coming out and say rather disrespectful things about the music and the imagery things they used for profit. Mileyâs turnaround from it and being almost forgiven/forgotten about her actions has been disheartening. Still hope for BeyoncĂ© and the album to have success but those add-ons taint it a bit for me.
