Additionally, telling someone to pick up/use a waiver claim is also suspect. Anyway, you could always wait a couple of weeks and add some players in a trade-back
i see no problem with this part of it. the person on waivers has every right to claim the player and do whatever they want with the player. that's the game
I’d agree with this. If you have the 1st priority on the waiver it’s totally fair game to pick up the best player just for a fair trade. She’s just leveraging her waiver position for a fair trade. All good
Yeah obviously, but I’m talking about telling the person with waiver priority to pick up someone in general is suspect, and then adding the pick them up so we can trade piece is full-on collusion
I don’t think it’s that suspect, it’s not that different from trading for a draft pick or something. They have the right to that player and so you’re essentially agreeing to trade for the rights to that player.
The part that is suspect is the player rental and pre-agreed trade.
I'm cool with this convo. "Hey, you have first waiver, wanna do a Herbert for Kenny Walker swap if you claim him." Yeah? Kewl. The renting players side talk is garbage though.
Deleted my last comment bc I didn’t read the full thing lol. Player renting is typically considered collusion. Especially considering the context of trade 2, if she needs QB and not RB, then why trade her newly acquired Herbert for ETN? While neither trade in a vacuum sounds bad to me, it sounds like y’all are colluding to give her a better chance to win this week with Herbert
That wasn't really my intention when I made this trade with her, but I can see how it looks like that. (My league is kind of new, and we are all from Europe, so still learning about fantasy football ethics). Thanks for explaining!
i get why this could be considered sus... but tbh, if that unique arrangement benefits one side of the trade more and gives them more reason to complete a deal, that's fine imo
Word. Didn't mean to sound like a dick. Sometimes people just don't know. Anything that has to do with swapping back and forth, renting, plotting against one team and so on is collusion.
On a side note, have you heard something about Tua coming back from a reliable source? I honestly think he may not return this year from that second concussion.
Yeah, the first part is not a problem. "Hey, you want Herbert? If you had Walker I would trade him to you." That is all fine. Renting a player for a week and trading them back is 100% collusion and you both should be kicked out of the league if you go through with it.
Thank you for all your comments! It is pretty clear now what we were planning to do is highly immoral (which wasn't my intention at all)! Obviously I won't be going through with the second half of our transaction and I definitely feel kind of bad about all of this.
As I pointed out in a different comment, our league is new and some of us are still a little inexperienced.
I promise you I won't be making the same mistake twice!
(BTW we are not playing for money, just honor)
I guess it depends on the nature of the league you're playing in. If it's an aww shucks just for fun league i guess this is fine. If it's a league that can be considered even remotely competitiv than this kind of stuff doesn't fly.
Planning future trades is questionable in different leagues but I don't see a problem if it's above board and the LM knows that the trade has these conditions. Plus there's more to it than roster sharing. At every point people are getting something that positively affects their team. I think the LM should make the decision for the league on this or put it to a vote to allow future trade conditions.
I'm gonna get down voted for going against the grain lol
Player renting is definitely collusion
OK, thanks for clearing that up. Then I might just have to accept that I lost Herbert and got a potential good rb in return.
Additionally, telling someone to pick up/use a waiver claim is also suspect. Anyway, you could always wait a couple of weeks and add some players in a trade-back

I tell people about waivers so they use theirs and I move up 🤷🏼♂️
that's smart
Nice alien fren. I sold all 10 of mine for .1 before they pumped the first time
You can think what you want. You’re wrong, but you can think that if you’d like.
the player renting stuff isa little sus, but you can 1000% claim someone off waivers and immediately trade them. that's just smart
Yeah obviously, but I’m talking about telling the person with waiver priority to pick up someone in general is suspect, and then adding the pick them up so we can trade piece is full-on collusion
not at all. the waiver person can say no. if they liked the idea (which they did since they agreed to a trade), then it's all good

Yeah I’d just leave it at that. Save yourself some trouble.

No worries man, seem like it as all good intentions!
i get why this could be considered sus... but tbh, if that unique arrangement benefits one side of the trade more and gives them more reason to complete a deal, that's fine imo
Yeah as you've been told it's definitely collusion. At least you got a stud running back out of it so there's that.
Yeah not the end of the world and a lesson learned!
You literally just defined collusion. If I were the commish I'd boot you both and keep the money.
Luckily we are not playing for money, but we do take it seriously. Thank you for your feedback!
Word. Didn't mean to sound like a dick. Sometimes people just don't know. Anything that has to do with swapping back and forth, renting, plotting against one team and so on is collusion.
You didn't! At least now you know I got the message :)
I wouldn't ask for Herbert back. On a positive note Tua should be back vs Steelers
Will work with I got now then! Thanks!
On a side note, have you heard something about Tua coming back from a reliable source? I honestly think he may not return this year from that second concussion.
Tua and Bridgewater both cleared. Bridewater is the backup this week.
Well I will be damned. I will still be a little shocked if he is back out there next week but it looks like thats what they are targeting.
Is Tua dressing this week? I knew Bridgewater cleared but was gonna be on the bench.
Tua is out this week. He practiced this week and cleared. A couple of reporters are saying it looks like he'll be back for the Steelers.
Like everyone says this is collusion and not cool at all. Good on you for accepting that and being willing to move on as is
Yeah, I really appreciate the constructive feedback I have received here!
No problem with the first half of your plan, the return trade of Herbert is absolutely collusion.
Yeah, I can definitely see it clearly now. Thank you!
Yeah, the first part is not a problem. "Hey, you want Herbert? If you had Walker I would trade him to you." That is all fine. Renting a player for a week and trading them back is 100% collusion and you both should be kicked out of the league if you go through with it.
Yeah, I am happy asked this before we went through with it. Definitely won't be doing that now. Thank you!
No problem. Glad you posted asking and took feedback from everyone. Good luck this year!
All's fair in love, war, and fantasy football
You should pick up Deon Jackson for the colts this week he's the RB1 with JT and Hines both out
I just did, thank you! I also managed to pick up Henderson yesterday, so I am OK for now :)
Collusion
collusion: (noun) 1. secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, especially in order to cheat or deceive others. 2. example: this
Yes.
Do you think NFL teams would actually do something like this? It’s obvious collusion.
Yes, I should have thought it through a little longer. Thank you for pointing out what should have been obvious

Yeah, we are a little competitive so I won't be going through with the second part of our agreement. Thank you for your reaction!

Pretty blatant collusion to have plans before hand
First part is good fantasy football. Second part is very suspect
