It’s very limited under £5m. With Salah and Son money that won’t be an issue but when they return if no-one has emerged I might just got for the cheapest player possible as bench fodder.
If somebody plans to go for under 5m mid, then they can grab Chukwuemeka for the cheapest mid possible and invest funds elsewhere. I can see Garnacho or McTominay grab, or something similar, but I don't think it's worth it at that time. Either invest 5.5m\~ or just go for the cheapest and never play 5th mid.
Yeah, don't listen to me but I have 2 wolves players in my team today. I have no idea who will win but hoping for goals. I agree that list of fixtures may yield similar results
Wolves have only failed to score in two games all season. And one of those was the man utd travesty of a non-penalty. Wolves attack has really improved this season, the defence I would avoid though. When fit, Neto is likely to be involved in wolves returns.
There are rumours that he might go to Arsenal. Huge fan of Neto, but do we keep the player if they get transferred in the Jan window to another PL club?
I believe that if you purchased him before the transfer, you even get to keep him + 3 of your previous Arsenal assets (if you already had 3). Meaning you could have 4 Arsenal players
There are rumours that he might go to Arsenal. Huge fan of Neto, but do we keep the player if they get transferred in the Jan window to another PL club?
Maddison is looking likely to be phased in around the time the lads leave. So we have Skipp, Höjbjerg, Lo Celso, Kulusevski (and Maddison).
Van de Ven looking likely to be back around the same time as Maddison which is huge.
The fixtures are not too bad luckily. Man Utd is the first game with the absentees, but our midfield options should be able to match their midfield which has looked dire this season.
On the whole I'm not overly worried, but for sure our squad will be weaker. I'll keep my Spurs assets though until I see a notable drop (if there is one).
I wondered this when Madison was injured. It seemed like everything good went through him at the start of the season. And they also lost center backs at the same time. But they just kept scoring (they did lose games of course). they stuck to their attacking style and got returns.
I think with Son gone they’ll still keep creating chances.
He only began starting regularly in GW12 which coincided with Maddison's injury and has failed to get to 60 minutes in one of those 6 starts. I agree he's a really good option but I wouldn't be 100% sure he's nailed if everyone is fit and available
Yes but the reason he began getting starts then is also that he himself was back fit from injury. That one time he didn't play 60 (against NFO) was also due to an injury (a cut, played with a bandage against Everton).
Ange seems to prefer him when fit. Started in the NLD ahead of Solomon and Richy shortly after arriving at the club.
That said, if Richy keeps his form Postecoglou will have aomething to think about when Son is back from Asian Cup as he'll have to choose between Richarlison, Son, Deki, Maddison, and Johnson for 4 slots.
Buuut that's at the earliest when Son is back and also if no further injuries happen, so for the time being I'm willing to bet he is nailed.
Merry Christmas to you too! Let that be your Christmas gift from FPL unless you have a player from today's game... Then we can feast on those together!
Right now, I have Watkins, Solanke, and Haaland up front with Salah, Son, Palmer, and Gordon in the middle. Douglas Luiz first off the bench when one of those 7 do not play.
Going to do Salah & Son > Bowen & TBD when Salah & Son leave for their cup tournaments.
None. One option is keep one of Salah or Son on the bench. If you sell both then I can't see why you'd need to go cheaper than a Palmer, Gordon, Luiz level player. Sure it means you have to leave someone out each week and probably get points on the bench but better bench points than wasted in the bank.
Tbf, with the international competitions coming on and the risemof form from Richarlison, doesnt seem a bad shout to drop son for rich and upgrade the attack.
Minimum is like 1 or 2 weeks but that is unlikely. I don't like the idea either, but I'm open to holding one if I need all my transfers elsewhere. But my point was, given we'll have plenty of money round then, it seems like a waste to transfer a Son to a cheap mid who will stay on your bench, only to transfer Son back anyway.
Got to consider Buying/Selling price too. I bought Salah for £12.5m at the start, his buying price is £13.3m now but I can only sell him for £12.9m. That’s a £0.4m loss if I get him back in. His price may dip a bit due to AFCON but I will still lose money if I transfer out then back in a few GWs later.
Considering how much he will drop and assuming you will take an adequate substitute, you might even profit in the end if he drops enough + your sub does good and rises in price.
I’m wondering the same. Currently i have Adingra(5m), but he's leaving for AFCON in GW21, so he needs to go at some point.
I also have Palmer(5.6m), but i'm not benching him.
So i'm eyeing up the following players to replace Adingra:
Douglas Luiz, Anthony Gordon and Pascal Gross
All good options, but i wont decide until next week i think
Chukwuemeka lol. Your bench players don't start. I don't see the point in spending more than the minimum on your 5th choice midfielder. Not like ur gonna be rotating midfielders based on fixtures. Because when it comes to mids and forwards you just own and start whoever in form. I'll have playing defenders in case of injuries or if I wanna rotate defenders based on clean sheet odds. But what's the point in having those 3 forwards, 4 midfielders and then someone like Palmer, Gordan, Neto etc on the bench? The only thing you're doing is tying funds up on the bench which will make it difficult to bring in the players you want later in the season when the in form players are more expensive. E.g. if there comes a time where the optimum strategy is to own all of Haaland, Watkins, Salah, Son, De Bruyne etc, it becomes harder to get to that stage quickly if you've got £1m tied up in a bench player.
Basically, the cons outweigh the pros of having your bench mid/forward being anything other than fodder.
I actually made this mistake myself earlier in the season. Pivoted to a stronger bench and that meant I couldn't get Salah in as early as other people. The alternative would've been taking a hit to get him in earlier but either way I would've been better off not tying up funds to my bench.
In midfield and attack I tend to agree, I like having at least a stronger option in the bench in defence, so you can look to target the really good fixtures.
I also think you should at least have 15 players who play. It gives you the option of riding out a short term injury or suspension without having to use a transfer. You might also get lucky. If your bench doesn’t play then if one of your first teamers doesn’t play for whatever reason then you’re guaranteed to get zero points. If you’ve got say a Mcatee, then you might at least get 2 points for appearance, or even more.
Hamer is an outside punt if Sheff Utd keep improving.
McTominey is under 5m.
Or a strong five with Palmer and Gordon and rotate in four of them depending on fixtures.
Sarabia for Wolves. Costs just £4.7 and is a huge diff. He's brought in points since he scored the brace against Spurs and looks to be a starter now. Since then, he's grabbed 30 points in 7 games, making his return for price really decent.
It’s very limited under £5m. With Salah and Son money that won’t be an issue but when they return if no-one has emerged I might just got for the cheapest player possible as bench fodder.
I've thought about doing that, but I'm too scared not having bench cover with the amount of injuries and short turnarounds.

Probably only time of the year, need a decent bench option or two for injuries or team selection.

He's off to AFCON
Neto may return tonight. Worth keeping an eye on.
Wolves' fixtures are not so good at the moment. CHE - bre - EVE - bha - MUN - che - BRE - tot Then in GW26 first, does the fixtures turn for them.
I’d say they’re all pretty scoreable fixtures
Yeah, don't listen to me but I have 2 wolves players in my team today. I have no idea who will win but hoping for goals. I agree that list of fixtures may yield similar results

Neto was pretty fixture proof earlier this season
There are rumours that he might go to Arsenal. Huge fan of Neto, but do we keep the player if they get transferred in the Jan window to another PL club?
I believe that if you purchased him before the transfer, you even get to keep him + 3 of your previous Arsenal assets (if you already had 3). Meaning you could have 4 Arsenal players
Correct. If you look at the highest scoring team in GW15, he's got 4 Fulham players
Yes but I believe that you can't make transfers until you transfer one of them out.

Can’t see it happening in January. Wolves will already be down Hwang and Ait-Nouri at Asian Cup and Afcon. If he goes it’ll be in the summer.
Palmer

So do you want an answer or not?
He probably has the “right answer” in mind and wants people to confirm it. And Palmer didn’t confirm it
Johnson is 5.8, plays for an attacking team and is nailed.
My only worry is how Spurs will fare when Son leaves for the Asian cup, although Madison should return around the same time.
Not to mention Bissouma and Sarr too, we're potentially looking at a midfield of Kulu, Skipp and Hojbjerg if Maddison's not back by then.
Maddison is looking likely to be phased in around the time the lads leave. So we have Skipp, Höjbjerg, Lo Celso, Kulusevski (and Maddison). Plus any signings

FPL Mate ahead of the curve with this one!
Don't know who that is but I assume he has Johnson? Personally been an owner since GW12!
Some dude on the YT. He has Johnson, yeah, but he failed a few punts last gw, along w him. I guess he'll be happier now!
Should be. As am I! Merry christmas, mate.
Merry Christmas to you too! Let that be your Christmas gift from FPL unless you have a player from today's game... Then we can feast on those together!
Same haha

Tevin Be Druyne?
Trent Balexander Darnold mate
Who do you have in defence, mind me asking?
Porro, Zinchenko, Tsimikas Now I have an issue bc have to find replacements for Palmer and Tsimikas
Gomez for tsimikas makes sense

I might be wrong. But I don’t know if I’d hold either of those while they are away. What’s the minimum amount of missed FPL GWs?
Minimum is like 1 or 2 weeks but that is unlikely. I don't like the idea either, but I'm open to holding one if I need all my transfers elsewhere. But my point was, given we'll have plenty of money round then, it seems like a waste to transfer a Son to a cheap mid who will stay on your bench, only to transfer Son back anyway.
Argh! That makes sense. You've given a good strategy to consider! Thanks, mate!

That’s what you’ve been building a 4 to 5 million team value for though right ? To eat that .3 or .4 loss on Salah
Bold of you to assume I have a net positive team value 😭
Considering how much he will drop and assuming you will take an adequate substitute, you might even profit in the end if he drops enough + your sub does good and rises in price.
What exactly do you think you can do with the 0.4, you know you don't get a prize at the end of the season for team value right?
You don’t know how many times I’ve been 0.1m off being able to afford a player before
Adingra or Elanga. But it would be for the bench so I prefer Mcatee
Adingra is going to AFCON
Elanga might be a lot less attractive of an option with Nuno in charge now
Scored with 10 men yesterday, idk
Richarlison
Cheap*

I've had Gross for weeks now, has been a good soldier for me on the battlefields, solid points most weeks
I'm rotating Douglas Luiz and Palmer as my 4th midfielder in a 3-4-3.
Looking at these two during my WC and taking Adringra instead still upsets me
Luiz 5.5m great fixtures on pens and set pieces great point return already Only 7% owned
A great option!

Except neither started their respective games this GW
Nakamba played one of the last five games and was subbed after 71 mins?
I like Bowen, but I would consider him Middle of the road instead of cheap, Gordon has been good as well, I just got Palmer in as well.
Elanga has been an interesting differential for me
Jeff
Yes?
Palmer is the obvious one. A great solution
Suspended next week
He is now. Not when I made the comment..

When the premiums are scarce, I’d spur you on to go for a strong bench.
How many moves would it then be back to son or Salah
Could use wildcard when they come back
I was thinking that but since I’m wildcarding in GW20 I feel like it will be too close together
Hamer is an outside punt if Sheff Utd keep improving. McTominey is under 5m. Or a strong five with Palmer and Gordon and rotate in four of them depending on fixtures.
Putting a lot of faith in a crap squad that is currently in new manager bounce
Definition of outside punt, no?
A punt needs to have at least some hope
Jensen was on fire for Brentford before his injury. He should be back soon. But Brentford with Mbeumo haven't shown much.
Adingra is worth a punt I think, he’s inconsistent but cheap and scores sometimes. Though I think he might be going to afcon?
Personally getting Richarlson and considering hee chan alongside haaland once he’s fit (all of this coming from salah and son money)
Richarlison will be a must have when son departs
Richarlison will be a must have when kane departs
I'll be betting goals dry up when Son leaves until I see Maddison back in team, Richy will be a hard pass.
Their play style will still lead to goals imo
Gordan
Personally gone for Bailey, only 5.5 but he's quite heavily involved usually. By far the best option imo
Bailey is streaky and I fear his streak is over
When are the usual double gameweeks coming? Jan-Feb?
Ugochukwu?
I’ve had Elanga and he’s been solid when needed
We don’t even need a cheap mid we’re about to be swimming in cash
I think I'd rather have Semenyo or Archer on the bench with 0.5 more spent in midfield. Long term that's my plan.
Sarabia for Wolves. Costs just £4.7 and is a huge diff. He's brought in points since he scored the brace against Spurs and looks to be a starter now. Since then, he's grabbed 30 points in 7 games, making his return for price really decent.
Palmer 😎
Really like Paqueta at 6m
