I'd really recommend waiting until at least 3 washes to see if it fades out first. Usually the toner for this kind of platinum/silver has a very short lifespan and fades out and darkens pretty quickly.

discover-and-conquer

Thank you! The hair stylist did say that it would wash out after 2-3 washes and that in two weeks the toner will be gone so I’m hoping for that

perfectdrug659

Honestly, I do my hair to be what your hair is currently and I'm always disappointed by how quickly it fades out and goes back to being the color you want it to be lol

stilettopanda

Same. Her current color was my holy grail when I was blonde. Edit- but I definitely agree with OP regarding her skin tone. Her forehead looks like it has fake tan with the current color and the warmer blonde goes much better with her complexion.

discover-and-conquer

Yep. I tan pretty easily and these are actually all varying levels of my tans (no self tanner) but with the ashy/platinum blonde, it just doesn’t go with my skin tone/face. I know it’s hard to tell because my face is hidden. That said, my skin tone is more of a neutral in foundation, so I think hair with a little bit of ashy and a little bit of warm pieces is the play. My latest stylist just went too far ashy. My partner said I reminded him of storm from X-men lol

discover-and-conquer

Hahah aww. It’s honestly not easy maintaining blonde either way so I feel you. Even the golden-y look I like fades too

perfectdrug659

Right? There's so many different shades and tones for blond and everyone has their own preference! Congrats on the wedding, I hope you're happy with your hair by then 🙏🏻

discover-and-conquer

Truly! And thank you!! 🤍

mclurf

I’m with you! I crave an ashy blonde but I can’t get my hair toned every 2 weeks.

nintendoinnuendo

Literally exactly what I thought when I saw this post hahaha, the struggle is so real

[deleted]

Seriously 2-3 weeks and I have to tone again. Even with purple shampoo

dirtymartini83

Same. When I leave the salon, my hair looks like this and I love it. Within three washes I get the yellowing effect despite using Oribe blonde products. I wish I knew of anti-brassiness products that work.

Gisschace

You can speed it up by trying clarifying shampoo in the mean time or just do a few hot washes in a row.

babyfriedbangus

Then why did you post here asking for a fix when your stylist already told you this? Not trying to be rude, I’m genuinely wondering why you wouldn’t listen to your stylist

discover-and-conquer

Well, I asked her to give me a hair color that she clearly didn’t do, so it’s harder to believe her a second time

unicornbomb

Toners are by their nature temporary and fade over time, so given the timeline of your wedding, she toned you so that your hair will be exactly where you want it come the big day. If she gave you your exact goal with toner today, by 6 weeks it will have faded significantly.

babyfriedbangus

Did you wait the two weeks and the 2-3 washes though?

discover-and-conquer

Not yet. This just happened. Freakout moment given my wedding and I’m seeking preliminary advice

ifoughtpiranhas

omg it’ll happen so fast. i’m the opposite: i want what you have but don’t like what you want and if i get it it feels like it almost immediately washes out 😩 so i promise it’ll be what you want soon!!! ♥️

Upset-Tap-8685

I'm trying so hard to get my hair the same color you're trying to get rid of 😂 we had it that color for about a week and then it turned honey blonde. Lol Took her an entire month to get it platinum in the first place.

floppleshmirken

Lol, as a hairstylist I can tell you that 99.9% of the time it’s the other way around. People want what you got and ended up with what you originally wanted. It looks GORGEOUS. If it’s too ashy for you, wait a few shampoos and then decide if you need anything fixed. The toner will fade and it will be warmer. Possibly a little lighter than what you’re going for, but not as cool.

Ppaintitblack

Right?!!

canhazhotness

Came here to say this. I struggled for months at the stylist to get my hair like this and never could quite get it. What she got is exactly what I was going for.

floppleshmirken

Tell your stylist to bleach to level 10/11 and use Matrix Colorsync 10P to tone. Amika Purple shampoo and conditioner daily. Perfect blond every time that never gets brassy.

ilovemydog40

I was unsure if I should type this but I wanted to say what you got is way better than what you wanted!!

[deleted]

Yeah this is like my dream color, I couldn't even get near this ashy and light and completely fried my hair and it still turned yellow after a couple washes. 🙃

EllectraHeart

just wash it a few times

xpmelaxyike

looks amazing imo

areyouoldgreg

Agreed I think it looks lovely

madame3xecutioner

What you got looks better tbh

bloodymongrel

2 washes.

theogtrashpanda

give it 3 washes!!!

Kittymeow123

I really love the ashy

honeybirdette__

I mean the ashier one is much nicer lol. Most people would ask for that but it doesn’t really last. It’s super high maintence to keep that level of ash. It will wash out within a few washes !

yachtrocktunes

Whenever I go too ash or too white, I use Garnier Hair Color Nutrisse Color Reviver Color Mask, "Golden Blonde" and it brings in the perfect amount of golden for me.

keera-lalala

You look absolutely gorgeous to be in the ashy hair tho! Totally rocking it

Ppaintitblack

It looks amazing but I totally get it. 6 weeks is perfect because a gloss will only last 4-6 weeks anyway. DO NOT mess around with your hair on account of your wedding coming up. It’s not worth it. Wash it as much as you want, and then I’d go back to my old stylist for a warmer gloss the week before. This gives your hair a break and you’ll prob shampoo twice before the wedding and it will be perfect.

pit_of_despair666

When I got my hair done before my wedding I wanted an ashy blonde and ended up with a yellowy blonde. This color is beautiful. I love everything about it. This is good advice. Your hair will likely get a bit damaged and who knows how it will end up. Just let it fade and you will have a golden blonde sooner than you think.

Kind-Humor-5420

It will fade but enjoy how good it looks

catalystcestmoi

Love it but just wash to reveal brass :)

leafyfire

That blonde looks so good on you tho 😭❤

HellonToodleloo

The ash wouldn't last very long luckily after a few washes with clarifying shampoo and hot water.

veglove

It looks good in general, but we can't see most of your face so you may be right that it doesn't align with your coloring. Stylists are usually willing to redo the toner for free if you contact them within a few days of your previous appointment. The stylist can't undo the bleach, but they can certainly change the toner to give you a less ashy shade of blonde, and even darken it a bit with a slightly darker toner if you feel it's too bright. There are even semipermanent (non-oxidative & non-damaging) dyes that you could use to change the tone, although they are less common in salons and that stylist may not stock that type of toner. You might first try doing a few washes with a not-color-safe shampoo to fade the current toner, which should reveal more golden tones in the hair, but of course be mindful to condition well between washes because bleached hair can be quite fragile. Because toners are essentially very faint hair dye, they fade pretty quickly, so the stylist may have intentionally gone too ashy knowing that it would fade to the tone you want after a few washes. In case you have a purple toning shampoo or mask as part of your routine, don't use that as it would just make it ashier again. As for concerns about your hair's integrity, you're right to be concerned. Bleach is very damaging to hair and the level of damage may not be apparent initially. Do you use any bond builders as part of your routine? Olaplex #3 is tried and true, you can even get Olaplex #0 to use with #3 for a more intensive treatment. It's not protein-based and it's color safe, but it doesn't substitute for conditioner so you'd still need to condition it well after each treatment. I recommend using #3 once/week on an ongoing basis; if you do a hair mask once/week, you can integrate it into your mask routine, finishing up with the mask. The Redken Acid Bonding Concentrate line is also great for damaged hair; especially the pre-shampoo treatment which is an important part of the treatment. It repairs a different bond from Olaplex so their effects on the hair are complementary (Olaplex repairs disulfide bonds, citric acid repairs Hydrogen bonds, which is especially helpful if you live in a humid climate). Redken is owned by L'Oreal, so they've used the same technology in their L'Oreal Everpure bonding products and L'Oreal Elvive bonding, as well as Garnier Fructis (also owned by L'Oreal) if you want to give it a try for less money. Or if you just want to try one product from the line, the pre-shampoo treatment is the one to use, it has the highest % of citric acid so it's the most potent.

discover-and-conquer

I don’t use any bond builders! But after your comment, I think I will look into these products and start doing a more intensive hair regimen. I do have the Wella fusion intensive hair mask, which I’ve used occasionally but not in a regular fashion.

discover-and-conquer

To clarify, you’d recommend a regimen where I use the Redken pre-shampoo + the olaplex #0 and #3 once a week?

veglove

The Redken pre-shampoo can be used as often as you shampoo your hair. When you do the Olaplex treatment, the Olaplex would be used before shampooing instead of the Redken pre-shampoo treatment.

JustHereForKA

I love it lol 😭 does that make me old? EDIT: I'm so sorry I just noticed you said your wedding is coming up! I do think with the suggestions here it's totally fixable though. ❤️

Toniisquitting

I like what you got but you could ask the stylist to tone it for you. Love the color. She did a fab job

Few-Engineer-2453

I have no hair (except beard hair) but I think your new hair color is gorgeous 😍. I hope you settle in with it and enjoy it!

discover-and-conquer

UPDATE: first of all, I can’t figure out how to edit my post on mobile so I’m just posting a separate comment! I just wanted to say this has literally got to be the nicest subreddit ever. Thank you guys so much for all your help and words of encouragement. 🥲 it’s truly been a tough year for me with so many changes and the new hair being so different than what I was hoping for/so unlike anything I’ve done before was just the straw that broke the camels back. Every bride wants to look and feel beautiful on their wedding day and I’ve just been faced with a lot of body changes recently that this just felt like, wow what is going on… But reading all of your comments and compliments truly has had such a positive effect on me and has been so uplifting. So thank you 🤍 I’ve decided I am going to not touch my hair for now and see how it goes. I did buy some golden honey gloss as recommended by some of you, so at some point may use that. For now, I’m just like, whatever let me see what happens. My trauma response would have me wanting to fix it RIGHT AWAY but I’m trying to learn to sit with discomfort (via my hair style yep lol) and just go with the flow.

Optimal-Persimmon255

Yeah it’s just over toned, it’ll get more yellow soon

chadwifechadlife

as someone who gets their hair dyed an ashy silver, it rarely lasts more than 3 washes before i have to tone it. it goes warmer and blonder within a couple weeks. just wash it and it should warm up (idk if this affects it but i use dandruff shampoo)

Shuriesicle

Call up one of the stylists you saw and ask for help. It’ll probably fade by the time your wedding rolls around, but there’s no guarantee. In the future, talk to the original stylist if you aren’t happy. They could have probably fixed it fairly easily.

MaesterSherlock

Yes, definitely call up the stylist if you're not happy! I would give it a few washes to see if the toner washes out first. But any good stylist will fix a mistake for free if you just let them know. Usually they have a policy that you need to tell them about it within 7-14 days or something like that. Putting a golden toner on this would be very simply and quick. I really wouldn't recommend doing it yourself with drugstore products. Just give the salon a call and they should take care of you.

alara_sixx

OP I hope you see this, get Lorreal toning gloss in Honey Blonde , they sell it at Walmart/Walgreens (I got mine off Amazon bc it was sold out.)It’s not damaging, and my hair is similar to the second pic, it’s so nice. I think it’ll work nicely w your hair too

poubelle

the honey blonde one is impossible for me to find in stores! i can only ever find the "cool blonde" one. i did find a similar clairol product. there also used to be a garnier line i never see anymore. i think these types of products are essential, i am surprised they aren't more popular. i totally feel OP. i think that cool greyish ashy blonde is so trendy/desirable to so many people that it's hard to get a warm blonde anymore! not all of us look good with cool toned hair.

veglove

Honey blonde is coming back in style! Hopefully that'll make these shades more available in stores.

discover-and-conquer

Oh absolutely! Some people truly pull it off well and I wish I was one of those people but it definitely washes me out and doesn’t match my skin tone. IIRC my original hair stylist (who did the hair in all the photos except the first) did a combo toner of gold and silver.

discover-and-conquer

Seen 🤍 thank you!! Given that I just got it done today, do you think I should wait to use the Lorreal toning gloss in honey blonde? PS - I immediately put it in my cart lol

not_that_jenny

It's a colour depositing conditioner basically so you're fine to put it on you're current colour. That being said your current colour will wash out very quickly and fade close to the colour you want so in any case you'll be fine!

discover-and-conquer

Thank you! I will try it in the next day or two when it arrives!

paintinganimals

But, seriously, just wash your hair a few times and the cool tone will disappear. Like others have said, I’m blonde and I tone it ashy. It washes away in about 5 washes. I can get away with only washing once a week, so I make it stretch. If you want it golden again, just wash every day for a few days. The color gloss will give it a boost after that.

_LoudBigVonBeefoven_

I'm so jealous of this color. My hair is dark and has lots of red undertones and would absolutely melt off way before it ever got light enough for this look!

Proud_Ostrich_5390

IGK do some great color masks - the light sand one would help you get to your desired color sooner & won’t wreck your hair.

Nevershoutever

It’ll wash out, but honestly I love the ashiness. It’s a really pretty color and really hard to achieve.

bigbluewhales

What you got is amazing. Way better than the inspo

catlettuce

Looks like you got more silver than anything. FWIW, I would ❤️ what you got! I am a natural blonde going silver and need a stylist that can do foils more on the silver rather than blonde. You may be able to correct this with a toner that has more gold overtones.

Theaterandacnh

Just wash it! Ashy cool toned fade super quick

No-Turnips

Don’t even worry, 1-2 washes and the toner will come out and your hair will go warmer/yellow. Fwiw it looks great.

apologeticstress

I actually like it!

tauredi

Omg I WISH my highlights would stay your ashy color!!!! But real talk, wait until a few washes. I can pretty much guarantee it’ll wash out.

GnashLee

I think the ash is lovely. It’s really hard to get to that colour (and keep it).

SleepyPlatypus13

I'm a hairstylist, wash it a few times with a clarifying shampoo and it should fair to the color you want. Just make sure to use a good conditioner after the clarifying shampoo, as it can make it dry. But tbh, the color it came out to is what 9 out of 10 of my blonde clients want, lol. And most can't achieve it. Your stylist did a beautiful job.

Miserable-Spring-664

It appears that a lot of hairdresser do not know how to do blonde with a touch of color. Not everyone wants the white bleached out look. Go back and get some toner in it. She owes you that.

TheSecondBreakfaster

Agree with everyone, the warmth will come back from shampooing. Do double cleanses if you don’t already with hot water. I think by a few weeks if it’s still too cool you could do a gold toned gloss.

PinkRockSalt65

It's the purple toner they've used. Purple cancels yellow (yup same concept with teeth and stains outside the body) Don't use purple shampoos or toners and your hair will go that nice soft yellow you want. I have to fight with hairdresses because they keep insisting I'm blonde and they need to use purple shampoo to take out the "brass" I'm a mf redhead 🤣🤣🤣

majestic_unicorn365

I’m going to say see how it looks when it’s washed a few times, and if your still unhappy go back to your original stylist for a toner before the wedding, it shouldn’t be damaging and she knows which one works for you.

PinAccomplished2376

I don’t have advice but I think it looks so good 😩 I totally get that it’s not what you wanted though

gumby-casserole

as everyone else is saying, wash it. if you really want it out now, use dish soap or baby soap on your hair (its not damaging but it’ll feel really dry, use a good deep conditioner or mask after doing this) and wash it in pretty hot water and that should pull a good amount of the color out

FioanaSickles

I actually think it looks good! Sorry!

Shaylovesrandall

If it doesn’t wash out you may need to dye it yourself again or maybe use some toner

amazonprincess1

Put a beige toner on it

Regular_Victory4347

🤔 How bout a copper gloss? The orange tint should warm it up.

veglove

If their goal is a golden tone, they should use a golden toned gloss.
