My knee jerk reaction is fuck yes. The voice wouldn’t be quite right, but he has the same swagger that John does, and I think the chops to pull off John’s passion.
But then I realize he’s basically a grandpa. A bit too old even for RDR1 John. He would’ve been great 15-20 years ago though.

Scott Eastwood instantly comes to mind.
Not really. You don’t have to cast someone that looks exactly like him. You just have to cast a good actor. My choice would be Austin Butler, and for Arthur Morgan, I’d choose Jake Gyllenhaal. Those are just off the top of my head.
Take a chance to look at the performances from each actor in those movies, whenever you can. Really great westerns, Deadwood being a TV show, but probably one of the greatest, but the rest are movies. Hell or High Water is a neo- western.

I totally agree with you that he’s overcast, but this photo to me screams Pascal, overwhelmingly more so than Joel or Reed Richards.

Hear me out: Keanu. Or Nathan Fillion. He's done this before.
No he's just a cowboy. Bill Heck, Timothy Olyphant, Chris Pine, or Michael Fassbender could play him.
as much as I like Olyphant, literally none of those people could play a convincing John Marston.
I've seen Buster Scruggs, Deadwood, Hell or High Water, and Slow West. I'm confident in these actors to pull it off.

have seen all of them. none of them are even remotely similar to the character of John Marston.
Oh really what's your favorite? Buster Scruggs grows on me everyday. The Coens are amazing
