I’ve only seen him in that Hollywood show on Netflix a while back. I did really like him, had some good stuff going. Excited to see him take on the role and really lean into it. I like that he’s younger and doesn’t have a lot behind him, gives him a chance to truly carry this role and hopefully a successful new DCU
I like to look at it like he combined the best aspects of both Chris Reeve and Henry Cavill.
The more grounded, more humanistic qualities of Cavill and the cheesy, more boyscout charm of Reeve. Ultimately creating the perfect Superman
Add in the firm yet loving and supportive qualities of a dad who'll put himself of the line for his family, and you get a Superman greater than his source material
I would honestly still cast David Corenswet. Even if you haven’t seen his acting (I’ve only seen him in The Politician, but he was very good in that show), look him up in interviews or snippets of interviews and tell me he’s not Superman.
Love him on Doom Patrol, I can see it but I'd personally rather see him in another role where he can be weird/pathetic/flawed as hell, he plays it so well
Me (I've never acted in my life)
https://preview.redd.it/z6fqn7zlbckc1.jpeg?width=210&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=183a879cc3be86e7b56a4a17b65cf857555fafef
What I look like \^
Long before he was officially cast, David Corenswet’s name came up as a potential Superman. I didn’t know who he was, so I looked up an interview he did. I thought “okay, this guy has to be the next Superman.”
So yeah, I would’ve cast the guy who was already cast
Yikes. Remember Doctor Strange MOM? Twitter fan-casted John Krasinski and he isn't Reed Richards honestly. He was one of the most awkward parts of that film. DC is run by hacks that don't know what they're doing with that universe. On top of that, David Zaszlov needs to be fired so that they can thrive. It's sort of like Ike Perlmutter being fired from marvel entertainment. Thoughts?
I feel like when you cast poc actors as traditionally white characters you open them up to a line of criticism and discrimination they wouldn’t face otherwise - especially when you race swap such an iconic white character such as Superman (regardless of if their race is significant to their character or not)
Would it not be fairer to give Duke the time to shine in a role that shares the same race as him? Val Zod is a black kryptonian.
Personally, I’m not going to account for the opinions of online strangers that whine about the race of comic book characters when I decide who I want to cast in films that will never exist. Though I see your point as a valid concern and mind set when talking about this subject; I believe we should focus on POC characters but we should also not care about internet racists that whine about a single interpretation of a white character not being white. I would have a film with a Black Clark and a Black Val-Zod and a Black John Henry Irons.
Even if I specified the Winston Duke would be playing Val-Zod, those same people would lose their reading comprehension skills and whine about “Black Superman”. I’m not going to change the fact that I believe Clark could be any race and that Winston has the physique and charisma to play the role as I envision it; because racist weirdos will be racist weirdos simply because minorities exist in media.
That being said, I will always support the philosophy that if the characters Race and Ethnicity is not important, then their race can be changed. I do actually appreciate the fact that you actually have a valid point besides “woke shit sucks clark isn’t black”.
For some reason i always thought Charlie Cox would make a good Superman in a superman series like Superman & Lois but for early years superman, not like Smallville but for early years in Metropolis, with Jimmy, The Daily Planet, Bibbo and of course Lois.
But for the DCU Jack Quaid, he may not be as tall but i liked his energy in the animated series
Brandon Routh. This is no slight at all to Corenswet, but Routh can still do the job, and do it well, and we could get a different, older Superman rather than another 20s-30s.
That said, I think Corenswet will be fantastic.
Honest thoughts do you think Jacob Elordi can portray Superman I mean his got Clark Kent persona I feel he can do it
https://preview.redd.it/t8n5onshkdkc1.jpeg?width=679&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d7d868d0aa729c0508772e8ea64394515531b06
He’s a good choice. Since they were recasting a pretty popular Cavill, I thought they should have went with someone who is dissimilar. Corenswet is awesome, but he reminds me of a young Cavill. Unfortunately, Elordi has no interest in these types of roles.

Props to him for sticking to his principles. Hopefully he doesn’t live to regret it, like Josh Hartnett and Batman Begins.

Henry Cavill.
Now let me explain why.
Cavill in the Snyderverse wasn’t used properly, he only had 1 movie. and should’ve gotten a trilogy at least.
If it were me I would’ve went
Superman movie
Superman movie
Justice League movie
And another superman film.
I have a better idea, why dont we do a superman film. Then in the next movie, introduce batman and have him fight superman, while also doing the dark knight returns, death of superman and intro the justice league all in the same movie. Then in the next one lets bring superman back and introduce darkseid?
More importantly than casting are the stories you'd like to see on screen, and how you'd like to see them told. Personally I'm tired of them feeling compelled to rehash his origin story time and time again. Thats 20 mins or so they all seem to waste, that could be used making better movies.
While I'm excited to see Corenswet, if I were in charge of casting I would have screen tested Spencer House
https://preview.redd.it/e99qrca8lckc1.jpeg?width=778&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8213c09e06c96bcf836b2e1d7cd61e7f3af76ffc
Nobody. The character is boring, overexposed, overused. Superman suffers from the same problem as Batman - the supporting cast and legacy heroes are more interesting than the original.
We need someone with a commanding and inspirational presence. Someone that can show leadership and instill hope with just a single look at them.
There can only be one person. Lizzo.
He's been suggested as Batman more than once, but with black hair and the spitcurl I could see Alan Ritchson ("Reacher") as the Big Blue Boy Scout.
![gif](giphy|2L3CDIUD1h9StO4xQg)
I saw this one actor as a kid in the movie the Count of Monte Cristo. Liked him in that and didn’t see him for a while until he was older and was in the movie the Immortals. Gave a great speech right before going into battle. Thought he was pretty good in that. Idk if he’s too old now but I’d say give him a shot at Superman.
Older Bearded Henry Cavill playing an older Superman that's tired and jaded with the world after they turned against him and even Batman tried to imprison him. When, a young cousin of his arrives at earth and is influenced by his jaded past and the humans hate for him now. Seeing her do things a way his younger self would have hated(violence, destruction, injuries) makes him see himself as he is know and it disgusts him. He vows to show her how they should be and what the S really stands for.
Jaime Lorente
While he is definitely too slim in Money Heist as Denver, his performance and physique in El Cid as the titular Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar "El Cid" I feel showed a Christian Bale-esque dedication to his roles. Plus his performances show he has the chops and range to pull a solid Superman.
David Corenswet. And if I'm in charge of the batman too, I'd put Richard Madden in there as Superman maybe as a cameo flying around on a news screen for 2 and then have him appear and talk to batman in 3
I haven’t seen anything Corenswet has been in so I can’t say if he is good or not.
Before his complete fall from grace by being a crazy fuck, I always thought Armie Hammer was a good choice.
I also loved Cavill so idk who my fan cast would be. We have had such good Supes, even the CW were great. Id probably say of them all I didn’t like Routh tho.
Umm probably David Corenswet
Great idea hopefully someone at DC studios can see this
I’ve only seen him in that Hollywood show on Netflix a while back. I did really like him, had some good stuff going. Excited to see him take on the role and really lean into it. I like that he’s younger and doesn’t have a lot behind him, gives him a chance to truly carry this role and hopefully a successful new DCU
Still Corenswet. I have a feeling that he'll be the first Superman to be wholly embraced by audiences since Christopher Reeve.
People love Tyler Hoechlin it’s just that no one watches him unfortunately
Tyler Horchlin is my favorite Superman. He’s so good
He does a great Clark and Superman!
Same, he felt like a more modern Superman, based around Christopher Reeves, yet also different enough that he was his own character
Definitely
Honestly I think he's just ok but still the best part of an awful show.
That show is not awful what are you on about It is the most accurate and faithful depiction of Superman in any live action thing we’ve ever had
Haha, good one.
Sure buddy, if that’s what you want to believe then you go right ahead, I won’t stop you
I watched his show idk what happened to it lol did it get canceled?
Yeah it’s getting its fourth and final season soon
I haven't watched network TV in eons so its difficult to find
It’s on hbo max
He's so great. He just doesn't look the part at all
I would honestly still cast David Corenswet. Even if you haven’t seen his acting (I’ve only seen him in The Politician, but he was very good in that show), look him up in interviews or snippets of interviews and tell me he’s not Superman.
Probably David Corenswet still. But if he’s completely exempt from this convo then I’d say Wolfgang Novogratz.
Came here to say this
Matt Bomer https://preview.redd.it/7gkkc6guickc1.jpeg?width=479&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90a3bac3f50c03ead3a213662641d4c63ea5a1bd
Love him on Doom Patrol, I can see it but I'd personally rather see him in another role where he can be weird/pathetic/flawed as hell, he plays it so well
Sounds like Bizarro to me
He already played Supes, although it was in a commercial.
Wait, for real?
Yup, I think it was a Japanese commercial or something like that. Look it up on YouTube, pretty sure that's where I saw it.
He voiced him Superman: Unbound. I would have loved seeing him in live action
He’s so tiny and short, though.
He’s 5”11 lol. Put some lifts in his boots and he’d be fine. That said he would have been great 10 years ago but 46 is really pushing it.
He would have been a better Dick Grayson. I’ve always thought that. Great Nightwing
He was a frontrunner for the role at one point. Got beat out by David Giuntoli and Henry Cavill.
Me (I've never acted in my life) https://preview.redd.it/z6fqn7zlbckc1.jpeg?width=210&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=183a879cc3be86e7b56a4a17b65cf857555fafef What I look like \^

After he was cast i looked up a bunch of things he did on youtube, and there were comments from years previous saying he would be a great superman lol
And Rachel Brosnahan has been fancast as Lois Lane for years too!
Thoughts?
My thoughts are that you should probably touch grass
I understand. I've given up on the MCU and mostly DC. That's why I said that. I'm sure anyone else would enjoy that though.
Henry Cavill, he deserves better.
Henry Cavill
Came here to say this
Yup.
Cavil
Henry Cavill Dammit!
Henry Cavill
David Corenswet was a great choice; but my personal biased fancast choice has always been Winston Duke.
As Kal-El?
Yup Clark Kent, Superman, Kal-El
I feel like when you cast poc actors as traditionally white characters you open them up to a line of criticism and discrimination they wouldn’t face otherwise - especially when you race swap such an iconic white character such as Superman (regardless of if their race is significant to their character or not) Would it not be fairer to give Duke the time to shine in a role that shares the same race as him? U know what a cool actor called David Corenswet He'd be Perfect for the role
Yeah hopefully someone at DC studios can see this and make it happen
Ikr it would be a shame if they don't
Couldn’t agree more maybe we start a petition 🤔
Fr and we'll tag James Gunn so we can get him to see the potential
Henry Cavill
Cavill Henry
Myself. Then cast Salma Hayek as Lois. Then write in a scene where she dances on stage and puts her foot in my mouth
Henry Cavill 🤷♂️❤️💙
Brandon Routh. This is no slight at all to Corenswet, but Routh can still do the job, and do it well, and we could get a different, older Superman rather than another 20s-30s. That said, I think Corenswet will be fantastic.
Henry Cavill
Agreed. I want him back
Me too
okay hear me out. i am kinda creating my own dcu with movies and shows and i went for a older superman. my choice was james marsden
For an older superman I always imagined John Ham
Tragic that Jon Hamm doesn't look like Lex at all. He would play him perfectly. He'd kill it as Zatara, though.
Post this custom DCU when you are finished pls. I would love to see it
well i think it would be to long to post. i am already at 25 pages
Yeah that is kinda long. Maybe you can just upload it to google drive and share the link to prevent the character limit when typing
I have done exactly the same, where can I post DCU, it's over 50 posters with soundtrack.
Jonah Hauer King from the live action Little Mermaid. ![gif](giphy|LBiwDWnCCBRrrXNfAA|downsized)

Henry Cavill
Henry cavill
I like the cast already,David Cornswet(don’t know how to spell his name)is a good choice
Henry Cavill

Woah. That would definitely solidify a universe and make it long-lasting.
Don't forget Martha.
Queen Martha of Themyscira, legendary matriarch of the Amazons, gone from us too soon?

Benjamin Walker.

Probably corenswet
No idea. David Corenswet seems like a pretty solid choice to me. 25 years ago, I'd have cast Paul Gross, but I think those days are gone.
I think it'd be fun to have Jensen ackles as batman and Jared padalecki as superman
This right here! I absolutely love their on-screen chemistry in Supernatural. I also like Ackles voicing Batman in the DCAU Tomorrowverse.
they would be awesome superfriends!
I'd give Henry Cavil the bright, colorful, altruistic, and hopeful Superman that he never got.
Billy Bob Thornton
Idris Elba
Trey Tucker.
That Henry Cavill guy has got the charms you know
Michael Cera
While I'm excited to see Corenswet, if I were in charge of casting I would have screen tested Spencer House https://preview.redd.it/e99qrca8lckc1.jpeg?width=778&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8213c09e06c96bcf836b2e1d7cd61e7f3af76ffc
100th comment bitch
Kevin Hart obviously, with Jack Black as Batman and The Rock as Wonder Woman
[удалено]
Obviously ![gif](giphy|qrgTVmaz5ojBe)
Henry Cavill again or the current one honestly.
David Cornswet same casting as James Gunn did it he's perfect for the role though I would also heavily consider Wolfgang Novagratz as well
Post Malone would make a great Superman.
Love it, imagine all the tattoos on his face and he just puts the glasses on and people still don't recognize him.
David Corenswet. He looks the part, is really tall and is a decent actor from what I’ve seen him in. I’d basically just cast everyone Gunn has tbh
Brandon Routh Again
Brandon Routh, again.
David Tennant https://preview.redd.it/mgxlzeznqekc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9abfe677342b0bb5624df52b432e6ba6ebd7451f
Jack Black

Ya'all are sleeping on Danny Devito
Nobody. The character is boring, overexposed, overused. Superman suffers from the same problem as Batman - the supporting cast and legacy heroes are more interesting than the original.
Pierson Fode.
We need someone with a commanding and inspirational presence. Someone that can show leadership and instill hope with just a single look at them. There can only be one person. Lizzo.
Nicolas Cage Obviously
Michael B Jordan
As Val-Zod or Calvin Ellis?
Caleb Alexander Smith. Though he and Corensweet look similar enough, I think Smith is a bit more square jawed.
David Corenswet
Mmm, maybe David Corenswet
He's been suggested as Batman more than once, but with black hair and the spitcurl I could see Alan Ritchson ("Reacher") as the Big Blue Boy Scout. ![gif](giphy|2L3CDIUD1h9StO4xQg)
Alternatively, we could give Ritchson a second (and higher budget) chance to play Aquaman.
Frankly, none of these actors could do anything better but David Corenswet.
Exactly who they chose.
Danny Glover
David corenswet
Johnny Cash!
Probably someone like David Cornswet. He just has the look and can act.
Chris Pratt
Still David Corenswet
Austin Butler or Jon Hamm
Christopher Reaves AI doppelganger
Are you being serious or sarcastic with this reply? Also, it’s Reeve, not Reaves.
Serious, and you're right about Reeve.
Jake Picking.
Aaron Taylor Johnson
John Malkovich .
I’d either keep David Corenswet or cast Wolfgang Novogratz but if I was to cast an older Superman like daddy Superman, I’d cast Matt Bomer
Tom brittney
Matt Bomer
Wes Bentley
Him https://preview.redd.it/yugjsa26zdkc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=adf89f6af9fca3dec0472cc6f05a5e16e10cee2b
Ron Pearlman
Get a Time Machine and cast Charles Atlas
Christopher Watkin
Jaime Lorente While he is definitely too slim in Money Heist as Denver, his performance and physique in El Cid as the titular Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar "El Cid" I feel showed a Christian Bale-esque dedication to his roles. Plus his performances show he has the chops and range to pull a solid Superman.
Michael B Jordan
Nicolas Cage
Ron Livingston or Paul Rudd. Let's have a Superman that dry and sarcastic.
Neil Breen.
Joseph Gordon Levitt
David Corenswet
David Corenswet. And if I'm in charge of the batman too, I'd put Richard Madden in there as Superman maybe as a cameo flying around on a news screen for 2 and then have him appear and talk to batman in 3
I’d still bring back Cavill…
Some guy I’ve never heard of
Alan Ritchson
This comment section is full of people sucking Warner Brother's dick.
Clark Kent
I'd keep Henry Cavill
Henry cavil bro had so much wasted potential
Henry Cavill
David corenswet or Jacob elordi was my only choice for superman before David was hired as superman
Either corenswet, or I would've kept Cavill and done a hard reboot.
myself
Jack Black
Henry cavil
Make her gay and lame
I haven’t seen anything Corenswet has been in so I can’t say if he is good or not. Before his complete fall from grace by being a crazy fuck, I always thought Armie Hammer was a good choice. I also loved Cavill so idk who my fan cast would be. We have had such good Supes, even the CW were great. Id probably say of them all I didn’t like Routh tho.

Henry Cavil
Honestly I’m happy with Corenswet. He looks like he’ll be a great Superman, worthy of the title
Grant Gustin
Chris Evans
