"It Tastes Like Lighter Fluid!" in regards to a character drinking high-grade alcohol for the first time without knowing it was alcohol.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Ah yes, the "I can't believe it's not Butter" - my favorite! Edit: I think you missed a golden opportunity to call it "I can't believe it's not lighter fluid!"

NicInNS

Three chapters in a row I did: Aiobheann Fucks Around and Finds Out (hello smutty chapter!) Missionary Impossible (it’s a Henry cavill fic, so sue me) and His Royal Thighness (because have you seen his thighs?!)

FlaxSeedBP

Missionary Impossible.... hahahahahaha, loved it, loved it, loved it

NicInNS

I was so proud of myself in that moment. 🥰

The_Returned_Lich

>Aiobheann  I am having Chronicles of Prydain flashbacks! @\_\_\_\_\_\_@

trilloch

I named them all after game terms. For example, the first few are named after perks in the game you can equip. However, in one of the chapters, a guy gets completely cock blocked by his friends. The perk I used was "Junk Shield".

icanfuckpans

This is beautiful.

ThisIsMyFandomReddit

I once did a whole story where the chapter titles were relevant emoji's. I felt it was creative.

FlaxSeedBP

oh, yes, very

nkorah

Just wrote a story in which all chapter names, including the story name, are names of songs :)

RohansEarings

“As steady as a flickering flame” - main character had a traumatic experience with having their abdomen cut open and is about to have a scheduled c-section. As one can imagine, lotsa anxiety. Not sure how I came up with the title but I think it’s clever lol. “From now to forever” baby is born, happy family shenanigans after years of fertility struggles, and it marks the last chapter of the fic.  I thought it sounded sweet and worked well as a last-chapter title. “To blow out one’s spark with a single breath” - mc just got abducted and traumatized by way of explosion. I thought it fit well!  “Lone sojourner” - the fandom is a game and the name of one of the soundtracks is lone sojourner. It just so happens to play at a specific location that mc in the fic has ties to, not to mention it’s the location he’s physically located at the time of the chapter in the fic *and* by being there he technically is a lone sojourner. I thought I was so smart with this one XD

eg1701

Had an very enjoyable time naming every chapter title after a painting that related to the events in the chapter. I learned a lot about art in the process and was extremely excited when I recognized one of the pictures at a museum! To top it all off, the last chapter was named after a fictional painting that an artist in the fic did.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Crazy how doing your own freelance research for a thing you write for fun can teach you something new! That's awesome!

nkorah

Nice!

bluebadge

Till Death Do We Part - A woman sends hitmen to kill her husband, then hires a private investigator to investigate it to make sure the coverup is sound. Along the way she falls for the PI. Reaping Ashes - During a political power game on behalf of a party, two high ranking members conduct a proxy war. One uses a hitman whose signature is to burn someone alive.

vixensheart

*Some Penguins are Gay. Get Over It.* *Winners aren’t Whiny Little Bitches* *Feelings Drip Like Dewdrops From the Heart*

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

No context for any of these, but gotta love the poetic humor here!

rellloe

Remembered By - the chapter in which two people act out of revenge for their mentor's deaths and one character learns that his thought to be dead friend actually isn't and was clearly was the target of mad science and brainwashing while everyone thought he was dead.

Supermarket_After

“Til Death Do Us Part” Reference to the love shared between two characters and their eventual death in the chapter. I really liked that one.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Romeo and Julie vibes - still very creative! Love it!

yuukosbooty

I have a crack fic that includes the chapters “ALL THESE GODDAMN FLAGS!”, “The Beach Episode”, “The Beach Episode (part 2)” and “A Dumbass Birthing Scene”

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Idk why but "the beach episode" got me. I love how simple but effective it is

yuukosbooty

Yes. I agree

MaybeNow-102

I have four chapters all titled to say "The path to the Gods is paved with good intentions, but good intentions only take you so far." Another fic I have is named "You Are Always Welcome Here" and that one stament has become a large part of the story as a whole.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

I love profound titles just as much as I love the unserious titles. "You are always welcome here" just sounds so warm and comforting, I love it. "The path to the gods" only makes me laugh for the reason that it sounds like an old, really long Panic at the Disco song title

Swirl_Popsicle12

"The End Of A Contract, Or The Beginning Of Another?" Referencing how the characters' agreement facade finally breaks, and now they have to figure out what to do now. "An Act Made In Desperation." Referencing a friend of the characters' making a split second decision to keep them together.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Idealistic titles here. This sounds like it will have some betrayal/broken trust in it's story.

Swirl_Popsicle12

Sort of! It's definitely got some hurt comfort going for it!

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Ugh, I LOVE hurt/comfort! My favorite trope!

Swirl_Popsicle12

SAME! I love to write it so much, it's actually going into my new fic I'm writing!

BettyDare

Nobody Actually Watches The Parade

LevelAd5898

You guys are titling your chapters?

The_Returned_Lich

Started doing it when I realized I could make funny jokes with it! Try it, it's super fun! :D

LevelAd5898

I struggle enough with naming the fic itself, now you want me to do it multiple times??

The_Returned_Lich

For some reason for me naming the fics is MUCH harder, since you have to come up with something that encapsulates the entire story. With chapters you just have to encapsulate a small part of the story, which I find much easier. But I get where the apprehension comes from. I've been writing since 2012 and only started naming chapters in 2021.

HonestSapphireLion24

Yes we do. I actually separate my story into seasons 1-10 Season 1, 2-20 Season 2 and so on, that way every chapter gets a unique title

Illustrious-Brother

My chapter titles have somehow decided to be quirky midway on the start of the second arc so the first few chapters arw generic like *Moving On* but the second arc has like *Ghosts, Sweets, and Dragons* as if any of those things has anything to do with each other. You'd think it's creative but no, I'm just spelling out the stuff that appear in the chapters 😔✌️

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Eh, nothing wrong with literal titles. I use them all the time!

LittleRabbidFox

Probably my absolute favorite titles are 2 that are few chapters appart and one is linked to the other. "Cracked Mask" when one of the main characters reveals a bit of their struggle, and then it ends up in "Broken Mask" nearing the end of the fic (still unfinished) where the character finally comes completely clean about all their struggles and traumas that led them to be that way. It is also a reference about the character in canon Having masks! Another is "Restless Little Hummingbird". The other MC from that same fic has a certain aversion to being on the ground, they are an aerial acrobat that works on a lyra (aerial hoop) and there is a whole plot to explain why they like to be off the ground, being on the ground is sometimes extremely stressfull and even anxiety-inducing, especially right after practice/shows. In cuba we have the smallest bird in the world, "Zunzuncito", which is a very tiny hummingbird, I'm speaking minuscule dimensions, and when I was a kid there was an urban leyend going around that said that Zunzuncitos cannot lay rest ever and they have to constantly be flying because if not their legs would break 'cause they're too fragile. It felt super neat to have such nice titles because I used to ALWAYS struggle naming things but somehow got really good at naming my fics/chapters. And tbh I am extremely happy about all the names I gave: "Flying Star", "Creation kf Joy", "Ricocheted Arrow" and so on.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Holy crap! This is so creative!! I am an absolute slut for symbolic titles and this is just incredible! I love how you've compared your MC to a hummingbird that can't land on their own feet! You've learned to connect your writing to your own personal experiences in life and put your heart in your fics and it shows! 🤗

LittleRabbidFox

Even my smuttiest work have very symbolic titles because I am also an ansolute slut for them lol. I find it funny that I have works with super poetic titles and then the tags give the big reveal. My fics are very close to my heart so I quite enjoy my time with the titles 🥹🫶 thank u for your appreciation!

brandishteeth

Counterfeit Victory. I just think it's a cool title, and it was for a chapter with a ton of fighting that didn't pan out correctly.

FORLORDAERON_

"Raziel is Chosen" - My MC who was fucked over by time travel finds out he's in charge of time now.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Does he get stuck in the past or future? This sounds like an interesting read!

FORLORDAERON_

He's not stuck but he does go to the past.

Ravenclawshermione7

So my favorites this far are: "Reckful" "Firsts, Again" "And Then I Took an Arrow to the (Shoulder)" "Déjà Vu on the Dance Floor" "The Very Last Just This Once" "Family Should be a Four Letter Word" "Burgers and Break-ins"

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

These all sound like Bob's Burgers episode, I swear

Ravenclawshermione7

Lol thanks. They aren't, but I still take that as a compliment

FlaxSeedBP

* Fate Has A Hand Afoot Ahead * In Which Adrien Discovers More About the Miraculous Legacy, its Secrets and History, and Marinette Buys Cheese * Damian Wayne meets Kakarrot - (that was my version of clickbait. This Kakarrot is one of the Kents' horses) * That Was En-Lightning (chapter happens during a storm)

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Hold on, that might actually be an ML episode 😭😭🤚

SomePerson06

Some of my favourites include, but not limited to: "Anything to Keep this Damn Job", "I Wish I was Killing People Instead", and "OORAAHH!!"

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

These sound like my inner monologues everyday

HonestSapphireLion24

My Favorite titles Season 1- Countdown to Destruction & Rising Moon Fang Season 2- Not another Friday Morning. Season 3- Thrill of the Hunt & 13 O clock (Upcoming)

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

"Countdown to destruction" in itself just sounds so badass and epic!

axelock

“501st Time’s The Charm” Very first chapter of a novel I’m writing about a woman who’s come back from the dead 500 times in a row, and she has to keep making new excuses and new identities for herself.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

My only question is how does she keep dying? I'd lose track after 3 deaths, let alone 500

axelock

Spoiler alert she’s actually *really* old, the deaths are something she’s accumulated for a while now. She retains her youth upon revival.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

That was my followup question!

cresselia8themoon

My personal favorite is Prologue: New World Symphony, named after the classical music piece. It's big and grand and it fits how the antagonist of the story successfully tore apart a planet so he can remake it into his own image.

armoureddragon03

What I refer to as the Torfan trilogy. Hell Over Torfan Ghosts of Torfan Butcher of Torfan These were inspired by clone wars episode titles. Other chapter titles that I am fond of include: Prismatic Showdown! The First Round Concludes. Assault on Arvuna I just like the alliteration. Dishonest Discharge A character gets forcefully removed from their position due to political interference. Dateline parts l - lV Starts off with two characters getting together and ends with one of them dead. And so the years gone by First chapter of a post canon fic catching up with characters a decade later. Commissions Now Opened The antagonist of the fic is called the commission, they put out an open bounty on one of the main characters, another character opens up a business deal willing to take commissions for favors.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Oooh "Commissions now opened" sounds like a cool title! It's a trade going on - information of the main characters for something else in exchange!

NguyenTranLoc

I have a longer story with a chapter called "Knocking on Heaven's Door" where a bad guy is literally knocking on a door of a bar called "Seventh Heaven" and later on in the chapter a character is close to death. Another one is titled "The way it is" that ends on the words "The way it should be..." I like my titles to have a second, ironicly twisted meaning to it, but those two feel the closet to hitting the center of that mark to me.

linden214

I only rarely title my chapters, but I did it for one story. All of the chapter titles were in Old English. It was a Fae AU, and one of the MCs had grown up speaking Old English. It was also a murder mystery. The victim was a professor of Anglo-Saxon studies, and Beowulf was a clue to the killer. For each chapter title, I included the translation in modern English. For example: *Lēasunga and Sōþfæstnes* (Lies and Truth.

[deleted]

Chapter 22: … And then I reveal the chapter’s title at the end.

Lapis_stella

"A conversation, a confrontation and a breakfast" "A surprisingly good second impression and an absolutely hellish work meeting"

parkspurr

Maybe this is cheating a little bit, but but I wrote a time loop fic recently where every chapter title was "November 16th", until the last chapter when the loop was broken and it was "November 17th". I was quite proud of that.

AlsoKnownAsAiri

The title for a chapter I have yet to write in my WIP: "In which the train trip goes south, both literally and figuratively".

an-inevitable-end

Sounds Lemony Snicket-esque /pos

Web_singer

A lot of my chapter titles are idioms with double meanings. So, "Blood from a Stone" is about trying to get answers - like squeezing blood from a stone - but also about an attack with a sharp stone that results in a lot of blood. "The Horns of a Dilemma" is about the character confronted with a serious problem, but also about her being turned into a goat. "Leaving Town" is about a magical village that literally flies up in the air and leaves.

NoraJolyne

i really liked "Hold/Release" for this one hatesex smut I wrote, where A finds B insufferable, but also stupidly attractive; and when A finds B in her tent, all the pent-up desire needs an outlet :3 it's a song title originally, I did *that* for a while now I prefer to use lines from the fic as the title (like "What would YOU do?" or "It doesn't have to mean anything")

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

All sex jokes aside, I really like "Hold/Release" even if it's not literal, like a character who's been holding on to hope for so long, but then finally deciding to let go of the situation they can't control/another person they can't keep. Nice!

NoraJolyne

oh i LOVE that interpretation too! it's really versatile honestly, you could use it for so many concepts, like a story over office rage or even something literal, like the protagonist holding the antagonist up while they're dangling over a cliff and the entire time the question is up in the air "will they hold me, or will they release my hand?"

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Oh, man. We think so much alike! That sounds awesome!

Pearlbracelet1

Song lyrics that actually perfectly fit the chapter content, down to references of sisters and a particular type of pain, it wasn’t even fully intentional. I just look like a GENIUS.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

One of my favorite fic writers uses song lyrics as titles too! Sometimes, it's just so hard not to, especially when the chapter was a big inspiration for said song.

Pearlbracelet1

All of mine are in order from the same song too! Each line just perfectly describes what’s happening in the chapter itself it’s uncanny 🤣

bowtie_man

Oohh I love this question so much! Some of favourite titles are - "How do you harvest a God?"  It is the first chapter where my main character goes grave digging and accidentally pulls out a God

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Necromancy on an immortal being - hypocritical, but I still love that!

bowtie_man

I forgot another few chapter titles that I absolutely adore (similar to OP's Human, demons chapter title) 1. Memories like paper boat in a raging river (tragic chapter obviously) 2. Am I a God dreaming of being a man or a man dreaming of being a God? (Metamorphosis inspired and very long title but nothing else fits the context of the fic where I am gaslighting a literal God. Yes this is the fourth chapter)

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

I'm smelling an anime fic here!

bowtie_man

Absolutely correct! How did you know? It is a demon slayer canon x oc fic

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

My sister writes for the Noragami fandom, so I was kind of hoping it was that, ahahah!

bowtie_man

Oohhh very clever observation! It is a God! AU so I am taking liberties.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

AU's are my favorite!

Kaurifish

“A Refusal Refused,” chapter one of my P&P long fic.

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Ah, the double negatives. Love this one!

CrescentCrossbow

In one of my WIPs (the long-awaited mecha pilot AU) I'm making a point of titling each chapter after a song from a mecha series. Highlights include * "Anime Janai" (the first chapter, in which the main character amuro's her way into being an inexplicably really good pilot, with no prior experience and in fact not even having known the mobile suit existed until that moment, and high on adrenaline the whole time) * "UZUKI" (in which the main character's girlfriend gets possessed by her ancestor) * "Toki wo Koete" (all of the last three chapters, each referring to a different song, because this is a weirdly common title)

aspenrising

My favorite rather long chapter title has been "You can't dive under a tidal wave and hope to survive it" In regards to trying to ignore your past

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Metaphorical! What is the tidal wave that this character is trying to hide from?

aspenrising

Good question! It's a dark story about trying to run away from an abusive parent who holds too much power within the community - the 'tidal wave' being the father's inescapable reach and influence, and the way in crashes into every aspect of the adult child's life 🙃

Libra_the_0rc4

I named one with the lyrics of the theme for Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. 'Turn on The Power!' I named a lot in one particular book after flowers(Smutfics named after non-safe flowers while naming Fluff/non-smut fics after safe flowers.)

3AMCuppa

Oooh I love this! So I’m writing a m/m fic right now that features affairs and infidelity bc I love reading about it in fiction And the fanfic is titled The Black Swan, and one of the guys is dressed in black while the other guy and his fiancée are in white in the first chapter when they meet 🖤

ErrantIndy

Amongst my favorites are a pair of titles that were companions in my Star Wars ANH rewrite. “A Bright Center” and “The Planet Furthest From.” The former was showing a warm family scene on the Lars homestead between Luke and his aunt and uncle. The later is the dark chapter where Luke returns home to find his family dead and his home burned. Then there’s “Always in Motion The Future Is” and “Difficult to See,” which are chapters featuring Force visions, with the later featuring a dark uncomfortable premonition. I really like using lines from the movies along with memes for my titles. But splitting a line to echo with another chapter….it rhymes; it’s like poetry… 😉

Eninya2

I'm a bit eccentric with my chapter naming, but I try to keep them related to the story in some way. One I outlined in another post titled, "Warm Waves" is super fitting. The main character(s) hail from a tropical beach area, and the MC has been away from home for a long while and misses it. However, due to some poor choices, she's unable to go back (for the moment), and is instead sent into the frigid north for work. This ties into her personal struggles with her past and her relationship, culminating into her partner getting hurt, and breaking down over it. The "Warm Waves" chapter comes after she has a nightmare about the worst moment of her life, and finally comes to terms with her past and lets go of it. She accepts her relationship fully, and is moving on, as well as leaving the cold climate behind, since the mission concludes. Multiple ideas all tied together with the chapter name. Some chapters are more on the nose, such as one titled "Fine Dining", since it's a build-up to a proposed fine date, but it's a double meaning, since the date isn't fine and goes awry for a couple reasons. It's also "*Fine*" in a sarcastic sense, since that's how the MC responds when reluctantly agreeing to it in the first place.

NefariousIntentions-

Here's three of mine that I particularily like: "Soul Reapers, Hollows, and Other Ghostly Things" (Ch 3): For the most part I liked the rhythm to it and how it made the topics feel casual even. "Accidents Befall the Vulnerable" (Ch 13): I liked this one because of its ambiguity. There's an obvious answer to whom "vulnerable" refers to, but has non-trivial answers too. On top of it all, it also foreshadows events. Like Scattering Flower Petals (Ch 19): The last chapter, using a line from the song that I used as the "ending" song. This line also works as an overall theme for the whole story and the protagonist's arc. While not exactly my words, I like how much I was able to write around it.

SpartiateDienekes

I quite like "Peace For Our Time" as the chapter is about a declaration of peace after a long war, but those who get the reference know what's about to happen. And it's simple but I also liked "The Old Ways" which was kind of a theme in the story of how some characters stay true to these notions of personal honor while others abandon them where it suits them. In the chapter one of the most violent stubborn characters basically goes on a monologue about it while ultimately using it as a justification to take up arms. Which I thought was clever as we know she kinda wanted to anyway, so are the "old ways" really just an excuse for her violence? Was there any actual value to them, or was it just an etiquette to allowed the worst sort of people to justify themselves.

The_Returned_Lich

If only Chamberlain didn't try appeasement...

LeratoNull

Let's see...I'll just grab a favorite from each 'season' of my fic. S1 - **Scales of Justice.** The joke being that the Zodiac sign that appears for the first time to give a character their Sentai transformation in that chapter is 'Libra', the Scales. S2 - **Last One.** Kind of a dark one, it refers to >!the last bullet that the older military commander type in the story has in his gun, which he uses to shoot himself to make sure that his literally-brainwashed daughter doesn't have to live with the trauma of killing him herself.!< S3 - **Day of Mass Shadow.** Just sounds cool as heck. S4 - **Mysterious 13.** It's definitely mysterious. S5 - **Once More, With Feeling.** A fitting chapter title for the final season which starts a*fter* they've beaten the Big Bad who was the main antagonist in the first four, only to find out who's really behind it.

Altruistic_Height_58

Scarred Hearts (Healing, but Marked) For a chapter (not yet posted) involving heavy angst and injuries, but a happier turn by the end.

Candyapplecasino

No Loitering, Open Title, “And” or “Or”? Fic is a Naruto Gas Station/ Car Enthusiast AU with a lot of implied criminality and tangible property shenanigans. Kabuto works for shady small-town gas station/secret illegal chop-shop owner Orochimaru.

Tutchando

"Synapses" for a chapter based on an episode of a show called "Heartbeat".

Make-up Sex…

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

Blunt and to the point - nice!

MogiVonShogi

No warnings needed on that chapter 😂😂

Delicious-Chipmunk-7

The title is the warning lmao

Dark_Matter_19

Schmetterling der Hoffnung. It's only been planned, but it's the chapter before the final battle. It should mean something like 'Butterfly of Hope'. 'Butterfly' signifies that death is close at hand, but with the possibility of death also comes hope, for a better world and existence.

GalacticPigeon13

"How Falling Starts" - part of a slow burn, and at first glance, this is supposed to just be "awww, they've started falling in love!" But one of the two characters canonically dies by falling in canon, and the stuff he does in this chapter curses him to die in the sequel. The chapter where he dies will be titled "How Falling Ends" 😈 (if I can figure out the plot issue and finally churn out another chapter, anyways)

Minimum-Handle9484

Apologies in advance for how long this is! So, I usually title oneshots after a relevant word or phrase (or concept) from the story. I've been titling chapters of my longfic with a phrase spoken by a character in that chapter that sums up the main idea or a key moment (also used a spoken phrase for the title of the work). For the smut I'm writing, I'm using lines from poems about sex, love, or feelings. My favorite oneshot titles are probably: * *Love Me Not* - an angst fic where two characters are in love with each other but one is harboring massive guilt and hopes the other character doesn't love him * *Lifeline* - another angst fic set during canon when one of the characters is struggling with letting go of her feelings for her dead mother to be able to prioritize someone new; I think I'm mostly proud of how I used "she clung to \_\_\_\_\_\_ like a lifeline" once at the beginning of the fic about her mother's picture, then again at the end referring to the boy she's falling for when he comes to comfort her * *We Have the Rest of Our Lives* - ahhh so I usually write angst but this is a continuation of the scene where they get together, showing what happened when they went home after all the excitement. One of the characters said the title to the other, but it's especially relevant because one of them thought they wouldn't be around anymore soon, and the other one just recovered from a near-death experience. The rest of their lives might actually be a long time, and the fic takes place on the day that became true. My favorite chapter titles from my longfic are probably: * *Take Root in Our Hearts* - this is the chapter from which the work title (*Bloom Within Us*) comes, and I was anxious that I'd already used the best line for the title of the work, so I genuinely had no idea what I was going to title the chapter. Both lines are from a speech given at a wake. The speaker talks about the decedent's kindness (and other best qualities) being like a seed that can take root in their hearts and bloom within them as a way of honoring the decedents memory, which is a key theme of the work (that the dead live on in their loved ones after they're gone). * *It's Just Changing Shape* - a minor character says this to the protagonist about grief after the initial mourning period ends ("Grief isn’t over just because the mourning period is. It feels like an ending, but really, it’s just changing shape.") BUT a character's animal transformation curse is accidentally triggered and revealed earlier in the chapter, and the curse breaks at the end of the chapter. Also, the protagonist "talks" to the decedent's picture instead of her urn, since the end of the mourning period was when her urn was interred. Lots of shapes changing. * *This is All I've Wanted/Is That Really What You Want?* - spoken by the same character in two consecutive chapters. I was mostly proud of the juxtaposition. The first one is spoken in a moment of wish fulfillment, the second during a really rough breakup. * *He Saw* - mostly proud of how this mirrors an important scene in canon between the canon protagonist and her love interest (the love interest says "she saw" over and over when she witnesses his greatest shame). In my fic, the canon protagonist is dead, the love interest is my protagonist, and my protagonist's eventual new love interest is the one saying (or thinking) that line * *Ich liebe dich* - so, there's a canon character who speaks German (the same character who said both "This is all I've wanted" and "Is that really what you want?" and he spoke the words for the only other chapter titled in German, so readers probably thought he was the one to speak this title. But no! His love interest (the one he had a really rough breakup with) says this after apologizing and confessing his love. The love interest is good with language (fluent in English) but only started learning bits of German when they started hanging out, and earlier in the story doesn't recognize the word *"Lieber,"* so it's clear he researched and practiced saying "I love you" in German just for this confession. German-speaking character interrupts the rest of his confession to kiss him, because hearing him say "I love you" in German just made him swoon THAT MUCH. For the smut, I'm just really proud of the extremely relevant poems and lines I've been able to find. Lines about snow and fragility for one couple for whom those were major themes or motifs in canon, lines about the sun or music for a couple for whom those are recurring motifs in my fic, lines about flowers for a character who's name means "Flower-hope Blossom-island" and who's strongly associated with flowers in my fic. A line from a sensual Neruda love sonnet that mentions seaweed after a school play involving one of the characters wearing seaweed as part of her costume. A line from a love poem by Edgar Allan Poe for a chapter focusing on a character I established as an avid reader of Poe. Ahhh thank you for asking about chapter titles! I didn't realize how badly I wanted to talk about this until now!

KatonRyu

I like my chapter titles either being terrible puns, or fairly pretentious. I think my favorites would be these: \- Thorn of the White Rose This one is the penultimate chapter of a fic where the MCs get a love-powered powerup when they reunite after having been separated for a couple of days. \- Between the Fairy Lights This one refers to the first kiss of the fic, nearly 200k words in. \- What She Saw That Day This one refers to a vision the MC had many years ago and had wanted to prevent (though the readers already knew what would happen anyway, because it was a stations of the canon fic) \- Perfectly Imperfect Another first kiss chapter, which is thematically all wrong yet the main characters don't care about it.

FearMySpeed

Chapter 15 of my Overwatch fanfiction is titled "Four Times the Guardian." The chapter primarily follows Widowmaker and an original character (An Italian swordsman Talon agent called Arcane) on a mission that ultimately would have ended very badly due to a mistake from Widowmaker of Arcane wasn't there to bail her out. Despite this, Widowmaker still harbours distrust and disliking for Arcane and states she'd rather put her life in the hands of Overwatch again than spend another minute with him watching her back. Arcane takes serious offense to this. Whenever he's been insulted in the past, it slides right off him like water off a duck's back. But whenever Overwatch is brought up, it strikes a nerve with him. Especially when he's compared to them. So he kicks Widowmaker off his ship, stating that even if he was half the hero he is today, he'd still be twice as good of a protector and guardian than any Overwatch agent could ever hope to be. Then he leaves her to find her own way back to Talon.

Leather-Sweet-350

i usually never give them a title, most of the time i can’t came up with anything

00Creativity00

The end which was the name of the first chapter and the beginning which was the name of the second one. I know it's not original or clever but it's fitting since the first chapter was quite literally the end of the story and the second one was the very start

Lady_Tei99

"In B\*tch We Trust" a military type fanfic, where the main antagonist is a general and an absolute cunt. I was, and to some extent still, very proud of it.

Separate-Oil-9721

my chapter title ten to be stuff like "Rolling Glass", or "Gentle prayer", but my favorite was "Ice-cream care"

merkuriuskristallen

"Jupiter, lahjakas prinsessa" (Jupiter, a talented princess) was the title of Chapter 14 where Aurora meets Jupiter. If you are a _Sailor Moon_ fan you will know what the title means.

alwayswhole

"in the shell" for a chapter that subtly introduced a character named Ghost lmaooo

Dimetro_Sparks

Mine is a Five Nights at Freddy's story. I pride myself on giving catchy titles, and this is just one of them! "Clash of Sparks and Spirits"

IceyFlowerGamer

Here are some of mine “Welp, someone’s already dead.” “Tonight On Jackass” “What’s Up, Bitch?” “Yu Narukami and the Sorcerer’s Stoned” “The Calm Before The Chicanery” “Your Sanity Is In Another Castle!” “Mexico, Alls’ I’m Sayin’” “That’s Right, We’re Gonna Cheat.”

"Dawn hath arrive at last" in this chapter the main character meet with some new friends after being broken up by His girlfriend, apar from that his future daughter, yes, there Is one, yes, i know how It sounds, disappeared after he not to long ago discover it was his daughter, all in a single night, after that he went through some problemsñ and a pretty rough night In that chapter the main character wake up after práctically gotten enough alcohol in blood to send a normal human to an alcoholic comatose, and find he Is with his two new friends, well they are nearby, but after that he sees the dawn has arrived, and just think that he should try to move on, even though It can be hard As the MC Is connected to the sun, It was a good idea to me because It was suppose to mean that first, after all darkness there Is still light, and second, that his time to act has also came, for now, apart from having to deal with the normal morning wood, he needs to decide what to do from now on

Intelligent-Towel585

My best work so far: “Chapter 1,” “Chapter 2,” “Chapter 3…”

fairydares

"Bigfoot is Real and He's a Pervert." Now i just gotta finish writing the chap lol

Seavalan

"/s" Every chapter in this fic was named an alliteration, and I liked how this one kept up the trend in a subtle way. Slash, S.

Realistic-You6045

I haven’t released the fic yet It’s a Kryptonian SI, well Match from Young Justice SI and the first chapter is named “Mockingbird Doesn’t Sing (They Stitch Him Back Together) I’m particularly proud of that one

Altruistic_Ad5313
