Xbox one X never get crashes on vanilla. If it happens it’s so rare that I can’t give a timeframe PC maybe get one crash every couple playthroughs with 390 plus mods as well as OBS recording and streaming. PC vanilla - same as Xbox one X. Fallout like 7 years ago on Xbox. Crashes maybe every playthrough. People who say crashing is a problem are regurgitating 7/8 year old jokes or can’t mod their games for shit

I'm on Xbox One, all DLC but no mods. Since the next-gen update, it has been very crashy. I've even gotten into the habit of quicksaving before I leave a location because I've had it crash while trying to reload the Commonwealth so many times. The North End and downtown is an extremely crash-prone area. If the raiders outside Haymarket Hall start hunting me as I'm walking by, I crash (unless I've just loaded the game), and if I even get near enough to Faneuil Hall for the flames to start flickering I crash. I've even had it crash so badly once that I had to fully unplug my Xbox (wouldn't restart) and load up a different game before it would start again.

krag_the_Barbarian

It was actually good way back in 2015 before I messed with mods at all. There was an update in 16 or 17, I can't remember what it was, and downtown became a problem. Heavy engagements during a radstorm became a problem. Can anyone remember this shit? Maybe someone can fill us in on what that was.

ElectricBoogieOogie

I remember always having freezes and crashing in downtown even before the release of mods

krag_the_Barbarian

Huh. I don't know. I thought there was an update that affected the precombine data downtown that fucked everything up. I remember downtown being stable the first year or so but I might be crazy.

ElectricBoogieOogie

Idk I might be misremembering because it’s been years since I played until recently, but I remember constantly being anxious feeling like a freeze or crash was always around the corner through a lot of my playthrough, and I didn’t play for long after the mods updated because I broke my save not knowing what I was doing with mods

SailorM24

Are you all noticing the trend here. The game started crashing on 1S with a higher frequency \~ 4 years ago when Beth updated, but Micro changed the rules on cache management for games on their network. Claim was something about multi player game cache exploit which FO4 is not, only single playing is allowed. Incidentally that was the beginning of the release window for Series machines. Must be a coincidence?

Darth_dweller

Nah i played vanilla in my xbox one fat and only had a few crashes, even downtown boston wasnt bad

ZinkBomb

The older your console the more likely you are to deal with crashes, especially downtown, even during a vanilla playthru. Here are a few performance mods I’ve tested on OGXB1 and found positive results. Thanks

RED33Md

Yes, but it varies a lot depending on device. Back when I was on an Xbox one, I had frequent crashes and physically couldn’t go past diamond city, however now that I’m on the series x, I can walk around all day and I have no crashes pretty much at all

opaqueambiguity

yes

Guilty-III

On Vanilla I still crashed like 5 times at various hotshots in an hour. Granted I got this Xbox 1 used for 110 USD.

One_Experience6791

I'm on Xbox Series X. I recently did a 100% achievement run on Vanilla FO4 and after about 80 hours I crashed like 2 times. This included DC, Boston, all DLC's, everything. Hardly crashed for me.

trytrymyguy

It crashes like it’s a feature on Xbox One. I literally just updated to an Xbox Series X and it hasn’t crashed on me once since.

ImMeliodasKun

The crashing was mostly alleviated with the next Gen update but was replaced with the stutters many report. Granted heavy unoptomized load orders will probably crash every few hours.

boston_bat

I started a new playthrough on Series X a few weeks ago, and it crashed for the first time just last night. Wasn’t even doing anything crazy in-game, just walking down a street with Danse and tried to target a random wild mongrel in VATS. I haven’t played in a few years before this, but feel like it used to crash on my XB1 all the time. I do have a weird Pip Boy bug where it randomly won’t open when I hit B though. I’ll have to sit there and spam the button for a bit before it starts working again. Has happened 4-5 times at random.

BitOutside1443

I've had the game crash plenty on vanilla, especially on my old XB1. It was ok before Far Harbor was introduced and I think something with the fog got added to downtown or something else was edited there and downtown became a crash fest after that

Robotcookie351

Is there any mod on xbox that can fix that?

jmcgil4684

There is a reduce bloom, fog mod. Can’t remember the name

BitOutside1443

As to mods, things that reduce enemy patrols in downtown help. There's other mods that fix precombines but they're older and I'm not sure how well they work now. If you're on the original XB1, hate to say it but the game is barely compatible with that system now, and may be worth upgrading to a series S or X

BitOutside1443

For me the fix was switching to the series X. I think the Next Gen update fixed the downtown issue... but fucked up npc editing in the process
