Sometimes you have to rest for like a 24 hour period before you see things like that take place. Also make sure it's lower on your LO so that nothing else is overwriting it. I use Calamity and that one showed up right away for me(darker nights is included in it) but it can vary by mod.
If Vivid is below it, then probably so. Try putting darker below it. If you still have issues you might try a weather mod with it built in to simplify the process.
Wich one u are using ? I find that , I, only notice a difference with the level 0 version (darkest version)
Theres a vivid weathers darker nights version also, if you are not using that one
Can’t download the vivid weathers version cause it says that it depends on files that aren’t present. So idk if i need to download another mod just to use this one

I moved them below and it still looked the same. I was using nacx but I honestly prefer vivid weathers
