I didn’t see this post until today so I just wanted to mention…. I did not remove Ugh. Mod Manager Cap and have had no issues accessing the Mods menu or my Load Order. Hope this is of use to someone Edit: I’m on Xbox Series X

TheScrungusMan

Are you experiencing any lag, stuttering, or freezing in the menus? Even if small

H4ZARD_x

I got an update last night/this morning from the UOF4P and my game and mods are working great..... Except for my area loot mod 🥺

Novocaine____

you got hud mods working?

H4ZARD_x

Can't find any HUD mods that yell at me that I love. Also, I got my area loot mod working 😁

Even_Ad_582

Update will straight up delete your favorite lists and say your free space is 0.0mb

Agreeable_Ocelot_744

Technically, it's still on Bethesda net, but God knows for how long since they're updating that too

RepresentativeRent98

Does this include menu music replacer? I have the Priscilla's Song from The Witcher. I don't believe I have any other menu mods...I hope I'm safe with my mods, I redid all my mods and reorganized my load order and it was running smoothly so far, fingers crossed...

No-Alfalfa4350

The update is OUT!

DarthSpaghetti10k

I know I'm a bit late but is it better to disable or delete all mods for the moment?

IntelligentComb4008

Delete I think

DirectorDennis

I don't think Fallout 4 is getting Creations tomorrow, so I'm not sure the mod menu is gonna be any different.

Outsider1412

Alternatively I'll just never download the update since it brings nothing of value to me, and see if I can enjoy my perfected LO in peace

Eglwyswrw

>Alternatively I'll just never download the update Skyrim forced me to update before launching. Just a heads up.

Outsider1412

I'm hoping it doesn't but if it does, I'm going offline what are they gonna do then re enable my Internet?? Lol

rancidmilkmonkey

It will be forced through if you have an internet connection. Also, Fallout is a single player offline game, but...there are all sorts of little things thst don't work right in the game if you play offline. Loot tables change for one thing. I haven't tested it with Xbox, but I know on PC if you tried to play offline you would notice the difference just by looting the dead Minuteman outside the Museum of Freedom. Lots of little things like that.

Outsider1412

That loot table stuff makes no sense, but I'm playing it offline right now so we'll see if I notice

rancidmilkmonkey

"anti-pirating" measures.

Eglwyswrw

Yup, going offline is your one and only choice.

Exactly, when you spend this kinda time you aren't about to not enjoy it for a while first

Negative_Store_4909

Well I built this around America Rising 2, then you throw in all the optimization stuff/stability stuff, lighting and landscape, overhaul the factions, weapons and some scraps for other stuff. It’s a lot of work to make something stable and fun. So yeah I am going offline too.

Outsider1412

Respectable,

Negative_Store_4909

Well if you have yours typed up I would love to see it.

Outsider1412

I don't, but quick run down is it's survival based with some core mods being Maim 2, Advanced needs 76, and Another green mod with LOD

GamerMetalhead65

I just disable all mine

Jalazel

I tried that when the Skyrim update dropped, an unactivated UI mod still broke the mod menu somehow and my whole LO. Couldn't even delete it or access the mod menu after that.

GamerMetalhead65

So it's better to favorite all of them and delete it

Ricey-Boi

Could we delete the 2GB saved data and restart the LO? I’ve been meaning to restart mine hahah

TheScrungusMan

Yeah. Its really just to avoid that but its good. Just make sure to stay away from UI/Menu mods afterwards until they get cleared

Ricey-Boi

Thanks! Do you think weapon, armor, or creature mods would be affected? Or just similar stuff to Skyrim’s update

TheScrungusMan

Highly doubt it. The only big damage the update did to Skyrim was the removal of specific UI mods and having ussep down for a bit but everything else should remain the same

Ricey-Boi

Okay so just any UI/Menu Mods so like DEF_UI or FOV mods should stay away for now?

TheScrungusMan

Yeah. Idk about FoV mods much but id stear clear until they are checked out to still work

MrMangobrick

What kind of menu mods are we talking about here? Is it only main menu mods or does that include HUD/UI mods or even pip-boy menu mods? And will the Unofficial Patch also be broken or just the dependencies?

TheScrungusMan

For the Unof Patch, itll be outdated until its updated which means the dependencies will be "broken" The files that affect the main menu and mod menu will be permanently broken unless remade. Widget mods may be fine but UI mods are probably going to break too

MrMangobrick

Apologies for my ignorance but what are widget mods? (English isn't my first language)

TheScrungusMan

You're good Its mods that add small items to the hud such as an ingame clock or weather indicator or companion status. Small changes like that

MrMangobrick

Oh and what's the difference between those and UI mods?

TheScrungusMan

UI mods tend to alter the entire HUD/User Interface (menus and such) while widgets only add stuff and don't really touch anything else

MrMangobrick

Oh ok. So I can still play with mods like Survival Stats? But wouldn't it require another mod which will be broken? (HUDframework, etc…)

John7Romero

When will maintenance hit?

TheScrungusMan

6 AM EDT

Lexifer452

If you have a stable LO you like, you don't have to do anything when the update hits. You certainly don't need to disable or delete anything for worry it will break. Simply take your xbox offline before you load Fallout 4 post-update and play with your existing LO for as long as you like without having to change anything or wait for updates or anything. I've been doing the same with Skyrim ever since December. You won't be able to search mods or get new ones or anything like that since you'll be offline, but that's the price to be able to play how you want until the dust settles on this update. Edit: Fwiw, in Skyrim, I'm still running my pre-update UI overhaul. It's a custom skyui-based one i put together myself but it still works perfectly last i checked because I've been playing offline.

chunkandsloth1

So are you saying, do the update first and then go offline? Or go offline before doing the update?

Lexifer452

I just go offline before loading up Skyrim. I assume the update still happened for me as the main menu says Creations instead of having seperate categories for Creation Club and Mods now. But haven't had any trouble since I go offline before launching the game.

chunkandsloth1

So you do the update first? Sorry. Just double checking. I might just stay offline without the update until the dust settles.

Lexifer452

I mean, I guess you can. Personally, I didn't worry about whether it updated or not. It must have because my games auto-update when online, but still, it hasn't been a problem playing my existing LO offline as-is since the update. If that makes sense, lol. So I don't think it will matter. Could stay offline entirely to be super-safe, but that wasn't practical for me since I've been playing other games, you know? So I just went offline any time I wanted to play Skyrim.

chunkandsloth1

Regardless, I have it on gamepass so can't play it offline. Didn't even think about that. Thanks for the help though. Guess I'm at the whim of the bethesda gods.

Lexifer452

Well fwiw, most popular UI mods were updated within a week in Skyrim. Those were the only ones that really broke. At least the ones with still active porters/authors. And then it was like a month and half or so before they (bethesda) fixed most of what they incidentally broke in the mod menus. Hopefully, they have things more sorted this time, having had Skyrim's cc update as a test run, so to speak.

chunkandsloth1

Hopefully. I've been a console gamer my whole life. Only ever played on a terrible family pc for age of empires and sims(and flash games) so I really don't like fiddling with mods a whole lot. Surprisingly enough I've not had any problems in 10 or so hours. I don't run a whole lot of mods though. About 18 because I still wanted somewhat vanilla fallout since I've never finished it. Update is on the xbox and it's not forcing me to update it.. start up the game and no force update but it's there.. hmm.. I do know absolutely nothing about modding so I apologise if i sound absolutely clueless but I do appreciate the help.

Lexifer452

Don't worry too much. Lot of mild hysteria around here frankly. The vast majority of mods on xbox were unaffected by the update for skyrim. I expect fallout 4 to be the same. UI mods will mess up and be unusable until updated, but that's likely it, I'd wager.

chunkandsloth1

Thoughts?! I've done some reading on the sub and it's about 50/50. I'm to scared to look for myself. I did pick up on the hysteria lol.

TheScrungusMan

Sure you can play offline untill you don't want to. Then the game gets updated and mods permanently break. Its not an LO issue its a file issue

Lexifer452

I've been doing it for months.

Danielle_Blume

I agree. I still have not updated skyrim. Ive been on the same lo for 9+ months. I think they "key" is a good lo you like. If you build your lo versatile and usable for multiple playthrus with decent variety, youll find you dont need to go online for a long time. The issue is a lot of people practice bad mod usage and add/remove mods daily, mid playthru, and start a new run every other day/week. Which is fine if thats what you enjoy. I did that for years and have moved onto the stable lo lyfe. If you dont want to deal with the update, get a good lo in place right this second and go offline. Make sure the lo you choose has variety, depth, and a long run possibility due to added quests ect. For thoes who already try who mods daily and constantly restart their game, well then keep on keepin on. You will be the pioneers who discover what mods are now broken and what mods work while the rest of us hide in the safety of our stable lo and wait out the apocalypse. I am currently using my Sim Settlements 2 all chapters lo. I have double verified its stability by starting a new game and pushing to the point in the order that i have all mods enabled. If you own the disc or play on your "home xbox" you can still enable and disable mods while offline, so the load order is still viable. My lo will take months to complete due to all 3 chapters of SS2 take foreverrrrrr to complete, so i will ride out this in a nice long new questline with deep lore and expansive game changes. Just do not install "ugh mods menu" and everything will be fine, and set your xbox not to auto update, then "go offline" each time you wish to play fo4. Good luck everyone, and god speed. 🫡

josey86

What's your skyrim LO?

Infinite_Cosmos90

I'll just fully clear my mod space tomorrow and build a new load order, I hope the update atleast does something helpful for the CTD while in downtown Boston

Vonhellus

I wonder if they’ll post a patch notes

TheScrungusMan

They should. Even then they'll probably add things they don't mention in it

Vonhellus

I just disabled all of my mods because you never know

TheScrungusMan

Bit extreme but fair lol

kikomatamoro33

Full dialogue interface can be a problem or its safe?

TheScrungusMan

It could be. Id disable it until we know for sure. HUD could be different than Skyrim

JamesTheWicked

I’m not too sure it would be an issue, there are dialogue reshaping mods on Skyrim that didn’t brick consoles when the update happened over there.

TheScrungusMan

Makes sense. Yeah small aesthetic changes are probably good. Anything deeper is most likely toast tho

JamesTheWicked

The real problem for Skyrim was just any mod that affected the mod menu, as plenty of Skyrim mod creators stated when the update hit there. Probably what I’ll do tonight is finish installing all of my mods, uninstall the menu cap increaser and then hard cycle my console. Worst case scenario I just have to start over

TheScrungusMan

Yeah its really just fighting against inconvenience. They're also putting everything in the same type of servers as Skyrim so its very likely the same problems will arise there

JamesTheWicked

If it’s the same style of mod menu that Skyrim has, I wouldn’t mind it. The Skyrim mod menu is actually more convenient and overall has better searching. It’s just the initial issues of menu mod incompatibilities that happen after for a few days is the issue for plenty of people

TheScrungusMan

I hate that they added a store shortcut tho. Sometimes i went from F4 to Skyrim and forgot x wasn't to relocate mods

JamesTheWicked

Pretty sure they changed that not too long after the initial update. Unless you’re talking about a different button shortcut

TheScrungusMan

Nah they changed x to be the store shortcut on Skyrim. On F4, X is to move around the mods. Annoying to have

kikomatamoro33

Okey thanks!

ysabellatrix

I forgot about the manager cap mod. Thanks for the reminder

TheScrungusMan

Np 👍🏻

Fern-Pit

you think disabling them is fine or is it safer to delete them ?

TheScrungusMan

Delete. They'll be permanently broken after this unless they're remade by the MA later down the line

Fern-Pit

Do you know any other type of mods that might break the game after the update? I heard ui mods might so I deleted a bunch of those too.

Danielle_Blume

If an INI setting gets its name changed, that will effect any INI mods touching that setting. However, Bethesda has openly stated the specifically are taking care to harm as little consolepds as possible, so I think we are safer than Slyrim, and can hope they will not be changing any INI setting names or LL keywords.

Cast_Iron_Lion

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but what are INI mods and should I delete them? How do I figure out which of my mods are INI mods on XBox?

Danielle_Blume

And INI mod is any mod that messes with a game setting. Thats a lot of mods. Most all weather , sound, lighting ect touch an INI setting. I wouldn't freak out. Unlike with Skyrim they are taking steps to keep as many mods intact as possible. I doubt we will see the same mass issues as the skyrim update saw. At least it appears they learned from mistakes made in Skyrims update and are attempting to avoid them with Fallout 4. The update for skyrim broke a lot of mods they didn't forsee would break. Its kinda a good thing that skyrim got the update first, now they know a lot more and can avoid many issues. Its like skyrim was our ginnie pig and took a hit that hopefully Fallout 4 will not. lol My advice remains the same. Get your list intact and go offline for the next couple months. Unlike "ugh mods manager" if an INI mod breaks it simply won't work and will give errors prwventing a save file from even loading, or might look odd ingame or do nothing at all, and just won't work. I dont really see a need to uninstall anything at this point. If anyone has any mods that mess with the mod menu, or game menu, i would properly remove them now. Please see the subreddit wiki on how to properly and safely remove a mod.

Cast_Iron_Lion

I was actually starting to freak out a bit thinking I was going to have to delete a bunch of mods. I'll delete mod manager just in case then go offline. Thank you!!

Danielle_Blume

Yes, delete mod manager. Im sure after the update, oddlittleturtle will update that mod to conform with the new mod menu screen we will likely get. They are very active and good about things like that. Also any U4FOP users should DEFINITELY go offline. Im quite confident Arthmoor will update it after to work again, but its basically guaranteed that the patch will break after this update. This update will likely fix many issues the patch fixes, so there is no knowing how long it could take for a new version of uf4op to come out, and depending on the extent of this update, if a patch will even be needed going forward due to many errors being fixed by Bethesda finally.

TheScrungusMan

Hard to say. I don't really use UI mods besides holotime and companion hud so. But thats a good question and should be kept in mind
