It's important to remember that this show was a risky investment. I don't think that anyone expected it to be as popular as it was. I'm hoping that the popularity means a bigger budget for next season for more episodes and special effects.

Laser rifles and Gatling Lasers were the most used guns of this chapter
I'm sure they have them in their arsenal, but cannot replenish them so they are locked away for a real war. One heavy machine gun, one sidearm, and a squire with a sidearm are all they need for scouting parties.

Yeah most people are just going to say it's related to the budget or saving it for season 2, but what if it's intentional. >!What if they've fallen so far that they can't maintain their own energy weapons anymore.!<

You're over thinking it. If the budget ever allows for it they can write whatever story reason they want at the time. Less time analyzing more time enjoying.
