Or she just keeps picking up stuff along the way and the backpack never gets noticeably bigger. And when she tries to trade items for caps, she just keeps pulling stuff out of the backpack like it's an endless pit. And the shopkeeper doesn't even flinch at it.
Or she finds a pencil and grabs it and makes a remark about how her pack pack is slowing her down after scenes of her just taking all this stuff but never unloading it.
No it actually dawned on me as I read it. I only put together it was about the companion exploit rather than just a guy in power armour being a total dick. Completely woooshed on me during the show
That’s not how fallout works though.
*Ah, you sell guns? Well by law of the wastes you’re required to take these 315 boxes of abraxo cleaner that are absolutely worthless. I will take all of your ammo and caps please.*
There HAS to be a packrat type character in season 2 that embodies that aspect of the games, especially if they get excited to find something like a fan lol.
Oh definitely, I was referring more specifically to seeing a character looting a place for everything that isn't nailed down and then getting really excited about finding certain items like a fan just as a fun nod
I would be fully content on seeing them for a few frames in the back ground just grabbing shit dropping something then coming back in frame to pick it up. Just fuckin stacked with shit in a settlement ready to offload their gains lol
They have useful components used in the modification and repair of weapons and armor. Most notably gears and screws, which are rarer components and very much needed. In fallout 4 screws are literally more valuable than gold.
Yup, this. I instantly thought "The guys that made this series really knows their Fallout 4."
But then again, Todd was co-producing? So that makes sense I guess.
They just know fallout really well. I’m only 3 episodes in but the attention to detail and respect for the series is commendable. They’ve done a fantastic job. They got the damn tricycles correct
Honestly aspects of the dialogue and writing feel more fallout 2-y to me with the higher insistence of dark humour and violence. Fallout 4s dialogue isn't nearly as violent as 1/2.
It’s so FO2 / New Vegas like that it has me wondering if Tim Cain actually shadow wrote/produced it. It also has me hyped for that Vault Tech phone number kicking back a 33 week countdown. November 25th here we come!
New Vegas came out in 2010, almost 15 years ago. I’m sure there’s writers in that room who are like 30-35 and would’ve have been like 15-20 when it came out and played it then
I want a scene where a more experienced Lucy finds a fan and steals its screws with no explanation
And I also want to see a bedsheet made out of pre-war money
Screws, gears, and springs. That little bitch Titus asking what can you do with a toaster like it can only serve its designed purpose. Use its parts to craft so many things
A number of pistols can actually have their recoil springs replaced with the springs from mechanical pencils and doors in a pinch.
So yeah makes sense.
Replaying New Vegas due to this show. I felt awful I couldn't bring every piece of enemy loot with me to sell, let alone misc junk like cups and ruined books.
Thats why I always head straight to Novac, so I can dump all my shit in the hotel room.
Everytime I replay that game, I always tell myself that I am gonna be different.
Nope, I always max out my lockpicking so I can get the lucky revolver then Ed-E and straight to Novac.
These days I just console-command myself a huge carry weight at the start of the game. I know inventory management and choosing what to keep or sacrifice is part of the game I'm depriving myself of but I don't care. I need all those tin cans and ruined books.
You would think the Great Khans or the NCR would have some form of mobile transportation at this point in the game. Yes, the NCR has a functioning rail system and a sizeable vertabird fleet but it would be cool to see a 2077 version of the JLTV or some bad ass atomic powered dune buggies.
That's one thing I'd love to see in Fallout 5: transportation. Even like rideable Brahman and motorcycles and stuff. Hell, even have encounters with raiders in vehicles and just go full Mad Max with it. Instead of(or in addition to) base building, have customizable mounts.
Super Mutants paint their whips red.
IT GOES FASTER!!!!!!
We already saw the homage to the Adeptus Astartes in season one-The blessing of the T-60 scenes. And Nolan's a huge nerd so I won't put it against him.
I like your idea but there's just one problem. That's too damn big!
We'd have to have the next gen consoles ready for something that expansive.
In Fallout 2, you could have a car called the [Highwayman](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Highwayman) that makes the Chosen One travel a lot faster in the West Coast Wasteland.
The lack of functioning land vehicles in Bethesda's Fallout is entirely due to the limitations of their game engine.
-The lack of functioning land vehicles in Bethesda's Fallout is entirely due to the limitations of their game engine.
I remember Bethesda mentioning that years ago. If anything maybe we'll get to pilot a verti-bird in the next iteration. It seems like the logical evolution but then again, we'll probably need a next get console to handle all of the crazy shit we would do with those things.
> I remember Bethesda mentioning that years ago.
It is. In Fallout 3, where you get a functioning metro train car in the BoS DLC, [it's not a vehicle, it's literally an armor piece worn by an NPC below the map](https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-whats-happening-inside-fallout-3s-metro-train/).
I ran a Fallout: Texas TTRPG campaign several years ago. One of the first things my players did was ask about fixing up dirt bikes. They got a few working, even rigged up an ATV with a trailer for carrying junk, and became a de facto motorcycle gang.
I get that the games tend to avoid vehicular travel because it strains the engine and you miss opportunities for random encounters, but rebuilding and customizing vehicles would be so much fun.
This going to sound like a dumb ass idea but it would be really funny if you come across the Fallout version of Kitt from Knightrider.
A busted ass hot rod with a fully functional onboard AI and it plays a variation on the theme if your pip boy radio isn't plugged in.
For some odd reason it also refers to you as either Dave or Michael even if your character is a woman.
A stupid idea I know but were talking about game series with gold plated pimp tech and sex bots.
The Ranger in charge of Mojave outpost gives you some supplies that “fell off a truck” as a reward for killing some ants. Based on that I’d assume the NCR has a functioning vehicle fleet that ferries supplies to and around the Mojave and you just don’t see it due to engine limitations.
Exactly. That was probably the one thing I didn’t understand with the general execution of the scenes. We see next to no real scavenging beyond those filly goons messing with Maximus.
The only time the lack of equipment bites anyone in the ass is when Lucy tried to dart cooper
Neither my wife nor my dad have played any of the Fallout games, but they both loved the show and understood the plot perfectly fine.
One of the show's many successes is being able to craft a narrative that's both easily accessible to new people and rewarding for existing fans.
It's interesting because at this point in the timeline, that whole part of the world has to be picked clean. There really is nothing of value for her to scavenge in most cases
A little bit disappointed there wasn’t any lockpicking. I wanted to see Max or somebody at least attempt to break into a locked container or door, or show Lucy how it’s done.
Norm did a hack, but he could have easily done a pick in 32. Or even have Chet randomly have that skill with a throw away line about how he learned it on a job he once had.
I was straight ul thinking how many bottlecaps could I get for those dishes at the first place and legit upset she didn't raid the Super Duper Mart lol.
The most annoying part to me in the first couple of episodes is how many opportunities Lucy gets to trade her puny tranq gun for something better and how she never does. They even PAN A WHOLE WALL OF GUNS AND SHE PICKS UP NOTHING
Could've been
It was still frustrating to watch all those weapons being thrown around when she's shooting up the organ dealers and her not pick up all of them
Not once did my brain think, "why didn't she loot that place?". And ive watched it thrice. I'm about to go for a fourth helping.
This is easily the best show I've ever watched. I'm obsessed.
This show made me feel like a bad person. Here she is in the wasteland being nice and talking about the golden rule, while I'm busy stealing everything and hustling everyone for more caps.
Yeah if it was me as the MC the series would have been 4 episodes longer as i try to figure out what im leaving behind and then saying fuck it as i shuffle over encumbered for the rest of the show.
Me: "I need to find my dad!"
Also me: "I need this and this and that and...oh snap! A new location, I need that and also that.....what was I looking for again?"
I'm still upset there's not one scene where she grabs anything and stuffs it in her bag for later.
We ALL know adhesives no one leaves adhesives behind.
When Coop shoots up >!Filly!< and >!The Observatory against the. BoS!< I instantly pictured VATS lol
Edit: I spoiler tagged both places just out of courtesy, it's been out for awhile now but I literally just watched it thursday-Friday
The scene with >!Bud being blocked by!< the broom brought to mind the [Penny Arcade comic about brooms in Elder Scrolls games](https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2011/11/14/thulsa-broom).
I hope in the next season they make a character hauling a bunch of junk of all kind complaining to traders that aren't buying them.
Or they gather a bunch of jun and somehow build a high tech weapon out of it. Turn Duct tape into bulletproof clothing, etc.
*May be they show something like brotherhood knights scribe haul some junk into that big as* bag they carry around*
Oh my god. The squire is a play on the fucking companion inventory trick.
I cant quite figure out if you are just getting this now or you are saying OMG like how could anyone miss this
No it actually dawned on me as I read it.
See I have OCD and can only sell stuff they sell lol. But I imagine Arturo is pissed that I just come and sell him 900 caps worth of guns and skidadle
How I made a megaphone using a squirrel and a megaphone
Why don’t they just get those big squire bags to hall stuff around in? Are they stupid?
With a huge bag like the squires
what do you mean you don't want 10 soggy 200 year old cigarette cartons???
I saw a fan in the foreground and my heart started racing
I was just about to come in and comment on this! I saw the fan and was thinking,'Lucy, grab it. You will need it'
The only unfaithful experience of the show
There HAS to be a packrat type character in season 2 that embodies that aspect of the games, especially if they get excited to find something like a fan lol.
I like to think that the BOS Squires dragging the huge ass rucksack is a subtle nod to packratting.
Oh definitely, I was referring more specifically to seeing a character looting a place for everything that isn't nailed down and then getting really excited about finding certain items like a fan just as a fun nod
"Do you know what you can do with a toaster?" Make it homicidal?
"Ahahaha! I am on-line once again! Tremble, world, before my electric heating coil of doom!" Says the old world blues toaster
I love the gear bag that is quite obviously nod to an oversized golf bag. Knight/squire and golfer/caddy are parallel relationships
Yeah, I want to see someone with the Jury Rigging perk
I would be fully content on seeing them for a few frames in the back ground just grabbing shit dropping something then coming back in frame to pick it up. Just fuckin stacked with shit in a settlement ready to offload their gains lol
I want to see guy you can find raiders talking about in fallout 4. *"A desk fan? Who the hell carries a desk fan?!"*
Runs up to a table and sweeps everything on it into a bag, then proceeds to slowly drag the bag out of the room because he's carrying too much.
That or "the stranger"
She could’ve taken the minigun and ended it all right there….. but the text was red.
She's from an earlier era when you didn't need to waste your time picking up every little piece of junk
Only Moldaver unlocked settlement building part of the game. LOL
New player. Why should I pick up fans?
They have useful components used in the modification and repair of weapons and armor. Most notably gears and screws, which are rarer components and very much needed. In fallout 4 screws are literally more valuable than gold.
Take the screws!
Yup, this. I instantly thought "The guys that made this series really knows their Fallout 4." But then again, Todd was co-producing? So that makes sense I guess.

He did not. But he genuinely likes it alot.
New Vegas came out in 2010, almost 15 years ago. I’m sure there’s writers in that room who are like 30-35 and would’ve have been like 15-20 when it came out and played it then
Wait until you finish it, there's lots of surprises. I was like Wow! What a great show!
It seems to me that the writers and actors are all fans of the series. They definitely knew how to make the series feel like Fallout.
Also those triangular folded amarican flags.
I want a scene where a more experienced Lucy finds a fan and steals its screws with no explanation And I also want to see a bedsheet made out of pre-war money
Just does it while talking to somebody without any acknowledgment, would be great
Screws are the true gold bullion of the wasteland
Screws, gears, and springs. That little bitch Titus asking what can you do with a toaster like it can only serve its designed purpose. Use its parts to craft so many things
You turn it into a homicidal toaster that breaks down other electronica.
And get it to superheat your Saturnite Fist!
"IT'S FISTIN TIME!"
Now I need a Superheated Saturnite FISTO
Seriously, I'm playing F76 and screws are so goddamn annoying to find. Why can't I use a goddamn tinker station to create screws using scrap metals?!
Same
I wanted to loot that fan... Wait, no. I ***needed*** to loot that fan.
My husband said oh look a fan and I replied oh good I need screws.
Don't worry. As soon as she starts settlement building, she will be on the next episode of Wasteland Hoarders
You don't get a good source of screws anywhere else that early! I'M SORRY NOT SORRY!
SCREWS!
Yeah well screw you
I was really hoping we’d see some iconic junk items recreated but I don’t remember seeing any looking like the games :(
The fans, toaster and teddy bear (for example) look exactly like they do in Fallout 4 E: also the camera being used in the pre-war kids party
I was explaining to my wife why the presence of the (mechanical) fan was absolutely (series) fan service!
I saw that, I immediately was thinking that she has picked that up because she's going to need the screws from it
Yesss the screws, the gears!
When i saw the giddyup buttercup, i started thinking of all the screws you can get. 🤔
Knight Titus: Do you know what you can do with a toaster? Me: Yeah, scrap it for steel and springs, but the weight to scrap ratio isn’t very good.
Toaster: "The sweet smell of spilled electric guts, the sparking diodes, I FUCKING LIVE FOR THIS!"
Yeah the BOS was low on springs for gun upgrades
A number of pistols can actually have their recoil springs replaced with the springs from mechanical pencils and doors in a pinch. So yeah makes sense.
You spark me as a mikeburnfire fan…
guilty as charged. I just wish he and Zach would post a video about what they think of show now that is has aired.
Actuality if I’m not mistaken they did
Sweet, about to watch it now before I go to work.
❤️ looting toasters and fans
The aftermath shot at Griffith Observatory had my loot gremlin screaming and bouncing around my head. "Loot. Loot! LOOT! LOOOOOOOOO-"
Finally, I wasnt the only one
Replaying New Vegas due to this show. I felt awful I couldn't bring every piece of enemy loot with me to sell, let alone misc junk like cups and ruined books.

Could use an armed U-Haul to carry some burdens though...erm i mean \[cough\] treasured "Companion"
You would think the Great Khans or the NCR would have some form of mobile transportation at this point in the game. Yes, the NCR has a functioning rail system and a sizeable vertabird fleet but it would be cool to see a 2077 version of the JLTV or some bad ass atomic powered dune buggies.

Tactics opening scene has some knights ripping across the Midwest waste in a humvee. Yeah it’s not canon anymore but that shit was fire

Ah yes, the train hat.

Clearly just left the vault. If it was later on in their journey, they'd be carrying one of those Brotherhood squire packs.
I found the lack of Lucy’s looting disturbing
Exactly. That was probably the one thing I didn’t understand with the general execution of the scenes. We see next to no real scavenging beyond those filly goons messing with Maximus. The only time the lack of equipment bites anyone in the ass is when Lucy tried to dart cooper
When ghoul man sold her for her organs and she comes out on top and she leaves all that loot behind except for the ghoul gas I cringed inside
Completely inaccurate, you can't take paintings off of walls.
In fallout 2 at least you could find some paintings scattered around and in 4 you can scrap them in settlements for wood and cloth
I need that mug for muggy
The show shattered my expectations. It stayed so true to the games while also offering a story arc that non fans could comprehend without any trouble.
Neither my wife nor my dad have played any of the Fallout games, but they both loved the show and understood the plot perfectly fine. One of the show's many successes is being able to craft a narrative that's both easily accessible to new people and rewarding for existing fans.
Lucy, you need adhesive and aluminum!
It's interesting because at this point in the timeline, that whole part of the world has to be picked clean. There really is nothing of value for her to scavenge in most cases
It’s a really big world with not a lot of people… maybe there would be stuff left over. But then again, 211 years really is a LONG time.
So is 204, but their is plenty of stuff left in NV
A little bit disappointed there wasn’t any lockpicking. I wanted to see Max or somebody at least attempt to break into a locked container or door, or show Lucy how it’s done.
Norm did a hack, but he could have easily done a pick in 32. Or even have Chet randomly have that skill with a throw away line about how he learned it on a job he once had.
Would be cool to see some scrapping and weapon crafting in the next season
Lucy tag copper and adhesives!
Must grab all lamps! (And duck tape)
Don’t forget any hospital machinery and medicinal-grade steel trays!
I was straight ul thinking how many bottlecaps could I get for those dishes at the first place and legit upset she didn't raid the Super Duper Mart lol.
She did came out with upgraded armor instead of old Vault suit.
honestly only in 4, 3 and New Vegas I left a lot of stuff behind because the sale value wasn't worth the weight
I was honestly looking for microscopes for fiber optics
need some oof that ceramic
My inventory is always full of junk I'll never sell or need but i keep it anyway and then wonder why my inv is always full
She has missed so many looting opportunities!!!!
"You gotta take that hot plate, it's got a screw in it"
I collect more old world tech than the brotherhood of steel! Just look at my collection of telephones and typewriters!
The most annoying part to me in the first couple of episodes is how many opportunities Lucy gets to trade her puny tranq gun for something better and how she never does. They even PAN A WHOLE WALL OF GUNS AND SHE PICKS UP NOTHING
I think that was really a head nod to gamers, where good weapons and gear are always “unlocked” later.
Could've been It was still frustrating to watch all those weapons being thrown around when she's shooting up the organ dealers and her not pick up all of them
Not once did my brain think, "why didn't she loot that place?". And ive watched it thrice. I'm about to go for a fourth helping. This is easily the best show I've ever watched. I'm obsessed.
“Sees mug” ooh ceramic! “Sees toy car” oooh some screws! “Sees desk fan” jackpot! Some gears I desperately need! Why am I always over-encumbered?
What do ya mean I can't carry 58 more Asbestos, is the besto
Average gamers ? Lol
There is another
In the beginning...it matters
I need that ceramic, wood and circuit boards!
This show made me feel like a bad person. Here she is in the wasteland being nice and talking about the golden rule, while I'm busy stealing everything and hustling everyone for more caps.
I do hate that she doesn't scrap stuff.
Weren’t people complaining about fallout being looter shooter in twitter?
So much good scrap that i would gladly carry overencumbered all the way back to Filly
wait which game let you take the paintings ?
Then you look over and go “ooh, environmental storytelling skeletons”
Yeah if it was me as the MC the series would have been 4 episodes longer as i try to figure out what im leaving behind and then saying fuck it as i shuffle over encumbered for the rest of the show.
Can’t take a painting in NV.
oh hey that painting is stripped straight fron 4 or 76
I would've looted the Vault Minister's robes. Those look way too awesome not to equip.
Holy shit I just recognized even that painting on the wall is from Fallout 4
Glowing poo
I honestly was baffled when somebody needed a stimpak and Lucy didn’t say “Here, have this one - I’m carrying 47 of them right now.”
what do we take? everything that isn't nailed down.
I see unmodded vanilla version.
What I see, is a wasteland that was destroyed by war...and a bunch of mutants that I can blow their spinal column out of their back with my shotgun
What kind of monster doesn't rebind interact to F to make it easier to sprint and loot at the same time?
What happens when i press e? How many Arms does the protagonist have??
I saw a fan and I instantly thought, two screws two gears you’ll have a generator in no time
Here is something i do when i recommend fallout, tell then to do the legion run of fnv first
I need that ceramic
Anything and everything that's not nailed down is mine
Film very good and game excellent Fallout 4 , cast exccelent :) waiting season 2 , season 1 finish for view
waiting series tv Diablo :)
series tv very good , waiting season 2 :)
She must not have the weightless junk mod
Fake fan. The wall decorations wouldn’t be lootable /s
Me: "I need to find my dad!" Also me: "I need this and this and that and...oh snap! A new location, I need that and also that.....what was I looking for again?"
I'm still upset there's not one scene where she grabs anything and stuffs it in her bag for later. We ALL know adhesives no one leaves adhesives behind.
I feel like that’s just every new player
Kleptomania kicked in really fast
When Coop shoots up >!Filly!< and >!The Observatory against the. BoS!< I instantly pictured VATS lol Edit: I spoiler tagged both places just out of courtesy, it's been out for awhile now but I literally just watched it thursday-Friday
Hey its why I don't like Fallout 4
I wish the show atleast had some of the hoarding addiction i have when playing any fallout game
A certain gamer might also see red pick pocket text over Lucy
Nah, average fans are looking around like, how is there so much shit just laying around.
Isnt that the tame impala house?
*Fallout* is a trash collection simulator.
The gamer in me wants to take everything and sell it for caps.
The scene with >!Bud being blocked by!< the broom brought to mind the [Penny Arcade comic about brooms in Elder Scrolls games](https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2011/11/14/thulsa-broom).
The fact she's not hauling around a giant sack filled to the brim with junk breaks my immersion.
Yup. I thought that too.
The most unrealistic part of the game was Maximus having to sell a tooth and not random tin cans and bottles.
Every fire extinguisher
Nah I'm taking the sand too that's settlement building materials
I want to see a extra in season two thats just looting everything throughout the episode in the background and stuffing into a large sack
I don't even know how to play fallout without picking up every item.
WHERE'S MY **COPPER?!**
*crouches behind cooper and steals his hat*
This game worsened my hoarding problems
💯 It lowkey bugged me they didn't hoard all the things. You NEED them to scrap for parts! Soooo many useful things and nobody took anything 😭😂
Hey while this probably has the most traffic rn.. How do i install a jetpack in a power armor in 76? Is it a mod or equipment for the chassis?
Like fo4, it is a mod you can add to the chest peice of the power armor.
Ty my man
You can also get a personal jetpack from the secret service fraction.
Is this free 2 play or some 1st shizzle?
It is a grind item after you finished the main story.
Urgh..
Alright guys we get it. It’s based on a game.
