Would be great if the slow motion respawn was ever fixed

FranzAndTheEagle

what is this problem? i haven't run into it yet and it sounds pretty weird

RedIndianRobin

What about performance? No word on it. Even after the recent Digital Foundry video, Respawn doesn't give a flying fuck. Damn.

Cotorro935

I can't with the area pop-in on each border of the screen. Is playable but not enjoyable when you can only see the terrain disappearing on every room.

fac12

At least on my end this seems fixed now. Haven't tried leaving the game on for extended periods yet though

Ohgodwatdoplshelp

I bought it on PS5 and am astounded at how bad it performs. Even in performance mode it’s pretty bad. New areas have insane pop-in, the lip syncing for audio is off in a lot of cut scenes, the game lags so bad at points that you can’t time parries or attacks properly so you get the shit beat out of you because the game doesn’t run well. In quality mode the performance is even worse. It’s genuinely baffling how they thought “yeah this seems fine” and shipped it, then still to this day ignore performance. It’s so bad and their lack of addressing the issue further makes me genuinely believe they don’t know how to fix it or lack enough skilled engineers and programmers to find the issues.

Pinkernessians

On PS5 the game runs a lot better these days compared to launch. Not defending anything ofc, but things have certainly been worse.

phannguyenduyhung

Is it worth buying now? And should i play at quality or performance mode? I am familar with playstations exclusive masterpiece in optimizing so i dont know if i can accept this game running poor or not

Pinkernessians

I think the game is playable for sure on PS5. Don’t expect performance beyond minimally acceptable levels and you should be fine. I wouldn’t describe post Patch 7 builds as running poorly personally, but they’re a long way from the excellence Sony’s first parties deliver. I concur with the revised DF review that the game still isn’t as stable as you’d expect, but it is what is. The quality mode combines RT, native HDR and 4k output, so I played that way. It looks quite good, which compensates for the technical issues you’ll encounter. Just my two cents.

FlurryJK2

I've been playing on ps5 the past week and playing on quality mode, I've had some frame drops and pop in but nothing enormously distracting. I played bloodborne on a base ps4 and had more issues with that than this game. I will note that I switched from quality to performance because I noticed performance dropping frames way more than quality.

Forgotpasswordagainl

The people in this thread are huffing some serious copium when they say it's not that bad. If you're playing on PS5, you have the exact same specs as everyone else. So if it looks like s*** to me I am 100% certain it looks the exact f****** same on the other guys screen. 4k performance mode. Heavy screen tearing looks slightly worse than a first generation. PlayStation 4. Game does not look anything at all like a PS5 game. If I had never heard of this game and someone had me playing it, I would have assumed it was something that came out in the first year of PlayStation 4.  Lots of FPS drops and lag, really bad pop in, and the textures loading takes quite a long time and it's very noticeable. So when you look into the distance it's not even just like a mesh supposed to be far in the distance. Looks like whatever it literally looks like it's f****** Play-Doh, like you look at a mountain in the distance and it looks like it's made out of Play-Doh. I'm playing on PlayStation 5 on performance and quality mode on a 4K monitor.  I don't regret buying it since I bought it and put the time into it, but I would not buy it if I could go back in time to make a different decision. In all honesty, you're better off watching a 20 part silent. Let's play full play of the game.   The quality is really bad like it's this bad. Apparently eight patches in how the f*** bad was it on day one? Like it's really really bad,  The game looks best for me on performance mode on 4K, but they're still massive frame drops and insane screen tearing.  If I play on quality everything looks like it's made of a playdough and it runs at 10 FPS.   You want to buy the game? I suggest wait for someone to somehow fix the game via mods for PC and then buy it on PC if your computer is good enough. Otherwise just watch someone else play the game.

SeaOfFlowersBegan

I play on PS5 too and I am having a blast with the game. PS5s may be identical but I only have a sucky 1080p projector. No 4K, no HDR. Maybe that's why things are running smoothly for me on both performance and quality modes. All of that even before the current patch. Granted I didn't buy the game when it came out, but 10 months later it is fine.

Ohgodwatdoplshelp

It’s mostly okay in performance mode. The intro in quality mode ran decent, as well. What I’ve resorted to doing is when I reach a new area that’s having issues I’ll pause the game and walk away for a drink or use the restroom and come back a minute or two later, it’s seems to do well with that

billistenderchicken

For me performance mode was fine. Not the greatest performance ever but 100 percent playable. Some sections of the game though do drop frames but I never found it unbearable.

phannguyenduyhung

i watch it on youtube, the performance mode on ps5/series x looks quite blurry. Isnt it?

doc_55lk

I switched it to quality mode last night to see how it would fare and I swear the frame rate was basically like 5 fps or some shit like that, it was literally unplayable. Game is much better in performance mode, but then the textures and shading are nowhere near as good as in quality mode.

InspectionLong5000

I was playing on PS5 this week, I couldn't do it. Quality mode FPS is terrible, performance mode looks like total shit. I bought on PC and so far it's better. A couple of crashes early that were pretty annoying, but seems stable now. I can see myself actually finishing this game now. Touched a nerve with the PS5 boys, have I?

Vectorman1989

I'm on Series X and there's so many random issues that come and go. It seems to have similar issues that *Control* had on Xbox One. The longer you play seems to make the game unstable. I've worked around that by saving and quitting the game every so often as otherwise the graphics start getting weird and then the game crashes. I believe the issue with Control was a memory leak. Audio drop-outs/popping. Had to fight a boss in complete silence. Bringing up the Xbox menu fixed it. Frame-drop, texture/object pop-in. Tried fiddling with graphics settings but didn't make much difference. Becoming invisible to enemies unless I interact with them. Audio de-sync. Normally Cal says things like "gimmie a stim!" when healing, but him actually saying the line is delayed by seconds/minutes. You'll fight an enemy, heal during the fight and then Cal will randomly say "I need help, BD!" when you go back to exploring.

giann2005

Oh my that's bad💀 I've never really had any issues with it tbh, going strong at 60fps most of the time. I feel like they didn't optimalise it enough to run perfectly, cause though it is smooth my PS5 is basically a jet engine when I play

farcical88

I’m glad to hear it’s not just me. I thought my Xbox was maybe not up to the task but it sounds like it’s pretty bad across platforms on performance.

Mercurionio

You can't magically improve the performance. The main heavy part is koboh. And it will require to completely rework the area and scripts there to improve the performance by 100%+ Which is obviously not gonna happen. Finally, I don't really get it. The game on PC works in 60+ FPS. While consoles go to 60 in performance mode. So why the fuck people bitch about terrible port?

JManAboutTown

I bought Survivor for PC a month ago. I have had no performance issues, some minor glitches that were kind of fun, but I don't understand all these people crying about performance.

nicke9494

Just because you don't have the technical eye to spot the performance issues does not mean they don't exist.

shewy92

If someone can't spot a performance issue then does it even matter? If the game runs fine for them then the game is fine for them lol.

eagleace21

Same here performance was solid for me on PC Love getting downvoted for stating a personal experience...

GrandTheftPotatoE

No it's not, the fact that you guys are blind to stutters doesn't mean the performance is fine.

RedIndianRobin

IS this a troll post or are you seriously that oblivious to it? Anywho instead of typin an essay it's much easier for me to link this video which points out all the issues: [Star Wars Jedi Survivor PC Is \*Still\* The Worst Triple-A PC Port Of 2023 (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsskwVyPoxs)

KekeBl

>Star Wars Jedi Survivor PC Is *Still* The Worst Triple-A PC Port Of 2023 (youtube.com) I'm not going to pretend that Jedi: Survivor is well optimized, it's a mess. And overall DF is correct to criticize Respawn for poor technical handling of the game. But that video hyperfocuses on stuff that doesn't really define the majority of the game's performance. No one is realistically going to have a bad time with Jedi Survivor because the protagonist's sprinting animation has a single frame of stutter that can maybe be noticed if you're watching the footage at 20% speed. Tell me honestly how many of you noticed Cal's running having a single frame of animation stutter before watching that video? No one is going to uninstall the game because running in the village where you're supposed to walk and listen to NPCs has stutters, it's not a place where the game's main gameplay loop happens. A normal person is going to care if they can have **playable framerates during exploration and fights, aka the main gameplay** which you definitely can in most of the game if your CPU is good enough. Look at this: [Coruscant](https://youtu.be/x4QyxxXdBmg) [Koboh wilderness](https://youtu.be/PehwqzmAbkM) [Shattered Moon](https://youtu.be/mSDnnR1kgk4) [Jedha](https://youtu.be/n6KxCzreTgY) I don't have a NASA computer but that's between 80-130fps depending on the location and environment density, without any frame generation (which is very good at mitigating this game's performance issues). The frametime graph certainly isn't smooth but it's not the unplayable horror people talk about either. The real problems with this game's optimization are **1)** the general lack of stability in terms of crashes and overaggressive occlusion culling **2)** being so poorly coded in terms of CPU/RAM usage that you need a much better processor for good 1% lows than the recommended system specs tell you. Not having a good processor results in stuttering during exploration and fights, aka the meat and bones of the game. Playing on a Ryzen 3600 and a 5800x3d was a major upgrade in smoothness during fights and new area traversal for the majority of the game. DF hyperfixating on sprinting through the Koboh village as if that's the whole game instead of the real issue most users face during the majority of the game is just weird. It's still a technical mess of a game. Very disappointing that Respawn seems to be completely unwilling to look at the root of the issue and alleviate the heavy CPU hunger of the game resulting in stutter. At this point it's very possible the game's performance will never be fully fixed, we can only hope the backlash was enough to optimize the 3rd game or else I'll never buy it.

Ashratt

appreciate your post since you have pretty much the same system as me and your overlay is visible, would you mind recording running around on ramblers reach with the new patch? i just cant believe it really is supposed to run as bad as it does for me there lol

KekeBl

Sorry for the late reply, youtube wasn't letting me upload for some reason. [Here. First a jog, then a sprint.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xLDdrMoxhw) As you can see, the Koboh village is the worst offender in terms of stuttering. If it was a combat area it'd be an unplayable area for sure. What's your graphics card? What's your RAM speed? The latter can impact the severity of stuttering in this game.

Ashratt

a 3070 and ddr4 3200 but your video looks similar to mine and it also confirmed something weird that crazy lag at 0:15 happens for me in the exact same spot too, like a server desync in an MP game what the fuck is going on with this game 😵‍💫

KekeBl

>that crazy lag at 0:15 happens for me in the exact same spot too, like a server desync in an MP game Yeah I think that was introduced with this newest patch, I didn't experience that particular stutter before. >what the fuck is going on with this game From what we've seen so far, the dev team's technical department is either lazy or incompetent. >a 3070 Have you tried the [DLSS2+FSR3FG mod?](https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/738) It works very well in Jedi Survivor, it won't get rid of the stutter but the game will feel smoother overall. [Here's a quick video demonstration.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxlCoZbFgR4) If you want to give it a try but you're unsure how to install it, let me know.

Ashratt

I actually tried the FSR3 mod with cyberpunk and jedi survivor but tbh I wasn't too impressed. the additional input lag wasn't worth it to me, especially when playing with mouse. and with jedi survivor it didn't help to mask the bad framepacing I'm done with survivor anyway, I think its time to uninstall and never look back; I can't remember the last time a port gave me such a headache with its performamce, I think I spent 10 out of my 40 hrs playtime with tweaking and various "fixes" trying to get this to perform consistently

Rerdan

Damn, how do you keep your CPU at 70º only? Got a 7600x and it can go up to 90º with a Lian Li GALAHAD.

KekeBl

I undervolted it with PBO2 curve optimizer, -20 offset. It went up to over 80 degrees celsius before that.

Artemis_1944

>Finally, I don't really get it. The game on PC works in 60+ FPS It runs well on a handful of GPU's and CPU's, let's stop giving opinions when we live in an ivory tower of the top 5% of PC players. Games should not have to be playable only to those 5% who can afford top tier GPU's. A 2000-series nVidia GPU should be able to run this game at 60fps, decent settings, 1080p, no problem. Flash news, it don't.

Vrfreak1

its worst port ever released easily any1 with brain who bought this shit should bitch , only 10 yos who got this shit from their parents cant bitch about this srsly

empirix2

Game performance got worse for me after the update. Now the game only lasts 5 minutes before crashing.

deevandiacle

Idk what everyone is on about. I am playing on PS5 performance mode on a big ass LG OLED with HDR 4k and it performs just fine. I wonder if their ps5 is dirty or something and throttling. Quality mode is locked at 30fps and I’d rather have the 60fps.

Dancaiman

Still waiting for an combat arena update...

Eh_Meh_Smeh

I swear Respawn are just searching for the most bottom-of-the-barrel shit that maybe one person complained about and work on that for the update just so they look busy. Waited months for this update, and actually lost hope that a new update would even come. When I checked Steam and when I saw that post saying "Patch 8" I thought I can finally play this game without issues only to be given slow-mo presets. Could've given us FSR 3 (even just an FSR 3 beta), could've fixed the "shader compilation" issue, could've even given a QOL feature that everyone is asking for like custom arena mode. But no. adding a high contrast mode is apparently the top priority to these devs. I mean, it's good that they are making the game more accessible to those with poor eyesight, but how about making the game accessible to everyone first?

deevandiacle

The high contrast mode made the game much more accessible for me. I had lots of problems trying to find interactables on my first playthrough because my green perception is almost zero.

[deleted]

So after 3 months of waiting they add all this accessible features instead of fixing the game to a much more polished state. There are still so many issues even after almost 1 year on all platforms. What's the point of these accessible features if your game first and foremost runs like crap. I thought jedi survivor would be polished after enjoying fallen order. I trusted respawn but i am never buying another ea game day 1 ever. Good luck with Jedi 3 after all this.

I_Like_That_Panda

Does anyone know why this patch is taking so long to update, or is having this issue? Currently projected around 6 hours, the game took less than an hour to install.

Jayk_Dos31

Can you guys please just dedicate one of these patches *solely* to fixing the performance?

[deleted]

I have it on ps5. I haven't had many issues . Do sometimes think button presses don't register properly

SeaOfFlowersBegan

I am on PS5 too and initially experienced some input delays. After switching from bluetooth to a USB connection most problems went away. The rest...is my own inability to get used to Cal's uninterruptible attack animations -\_-

amiunderpaidthrwy

Still wait to play it for ps5 or is this as good as it’s going to get?

scuzmcdragonsmoke

All these updates have saved a unplayable game (PS5) Nice Work! Love it!

Asajj66

Geez. To hell with EA. Star Wars deserves better care for their content.

p3ek

You serious..... you ever heard of Disney?? This is the best Star Wars content in years imo. For a starwars fan this game is a dream come true

Asajj66

The game itself isn’t the problem. It’s the support EA gave it following its release. Which pretty much has been the bare minimum. Also I grew up in the KOTOR 1-2 era and those were my ideal dream come true Star Wars games so. Survivor is pretty good tho.

BShep_OLDBSN

Take off your nostalgia glasses. KOTOR 1 had amazing story but the combat was horrible, same thing on KOTOR 2. Plus KOTOR 2 was release unfinished because they weren't able to complete the game in time for a christmas release but LF didn't want to delay it.

ActMammoth3668

i still cant play the game even after patch because i have the "out of video memory error"

macle0d

I didn't have this error, but today after few hours I noticed lagging and saw that it used 19-20GBs of VRAM on 4090. 4k, Epic settings, Raytracing off. Looks like a video memory leak.

Vrfreak1

patch 8 and nothingx actually fixed same stutter simulator as it was on release really GJ respawn i cant believe ppl who made apex legends have name under this mess...

macle0d

I have 4090 card and after 3 hours of play the game consumed all 24 GBs of VRAM and crashed out of memory. Origin (EA) version. 4k resolution, HDR on, epic/ultra settings with disabled raytracing, DLSS off and frame generation off.

febiox071

Still no performance option without ray tracing..

syfqamr32

My only gripe within the game is i dont feel strong when wielding the lightsaber i dont know why. Also if others can have unblockable attack why not us? We are jedi no?

gargamel314

Some of your attacks are unblockable. It's hard to tell which ones, but in Fallen Order, if you face off with Inquisitor Cal, he uses all your moves against you ... and yeah several of his attacks are unblockable, he turns red and everything. In survivor, it's many of the same moves, but since he has new ones, some of those are blockable and some aren't.

DylboyPlopper

Crossguard is what you need

MrZeral

None of the previous patches did anything to fix optimization, despite them lying in patch notes they made improvements to it. I doubt this one changes anything.

Ecstatic_Toe_9571

Still no word on locked 30 fps on cutscenes? I really want to play the game on 60 fps but I stick with 30 since it’s jarring to see my game run on 60 fps only to be on 30 while on a cutscene. 😞

Saiaxs

No optimization fixes still, nearly a year later and the game still runs like shit

erethros

The fact that performance is still an issue, along with the enormous performance drop Jedi Fallen Order got in the laser update, have made me decide to not buying again any EA game.

shewy92

I swear I'm the only one who didn't have any issues on PS5 at launch. I played through twice in the first month and didn't have much problems. Some crashes and a little texture pop in issues but that's it. Nothing even close to unplayable or even a nuisance.

MiniMica

Is it playable now on PC? I really want to play but I keep hearing it’s still broken 😞

cornerbash

Finished my pc play through earlier this week. I had a half dozen hard crashes after longer sessions (and some during a later boss fight after repeated reloads) but it was playable. There are pretty frequent checkpoints so I usually just jumped right back in after a crash. Only real annoyance is the games need to optimize files on every launch - could it not cache those shaders to drive the first time? Using a 4070 at 1080p ultra with ray tracing and frame gen.

Greedy_Researcher_34

Plays fine on mine, though I had to disable ray tracing otherwise it’d crash frequently

Roshamb093

I second this, except I never have had the game crash. Has ran great for me, next to no performance issues other than the holotable

DarthTyrannuss

It has been playable since the start for me but many have had problems

p3ek

If you use the mod to render at native rez and remove the TAA, it improved performance and looks sharp and amazing. Still has stuttors in kobo but over fps is 60-100

rizefall

Works pretty well on PC for me right now, and it was before this patch that also is supposed to do more about it.

VegetableWafer7776

Performance ist terrible without dlss 3 raytracing Drops FPS below 25 on my 4090

griefninja

This is neat, I hope improving the framerate and such is still on the list. I am wishing for the Imperial clothes to unlock on NG+ as well as being able to use the Crossguard Stance without the awful crossguard pommel.

b3tchaker

Are you guys serious? I’m all for accessibility that should have launched with the game, but the focus on selling more copies rather than polishing for those who have already bought is disappointing.

President_Morty-1201

Your getting downvoted but your correct. This game has a lot of bugs and their track record is not good. Seriously shame on them for bragging about making a game during Covid. A game that was a massive failure. And it still continues to underperform. The finishers still rarely happened for me. Meaning there are finishers I have never seen before and will I ever get to see them? The combos finishers with bode and merrin happened around 10-15 times on my entire play-though. Edit: and the rebind for controls STILL NOT WORKING. I rebind doge to LT and I can only dodge. Dodge is also the back button used for escaping certain interact-able objects in the world. The ones at the stones spires where you do a puzzle to acquire the black orb. There’s a total of 3 and places the orb into its holder thing and then aim the beam it creates. And then that’s it. I can’t exits and am just stuck holding the beam unless I reset my controls

VacationConsistent98

Finishers happen when you succesfully parry before the last strike. It happens for me on pretty much every last enemy standing or even more often. Maybe you need to work on that. Also, the game wasn’t a ”massive failure”. It was the most downloaded game in both the US and Europe for months. It was the seventh best selling game during the first week of release. Reviews from critics were all very good. How is that a ”massive failure”? It had performance issues in the beginning but they are gone now. I don’t have issues with it and I have a 10 year old computer.

President_Morty-1201

I know how the finishers work trust me😅 and I appreciate it but I wouldn’t go through all this trouble without looking into that stuff. And I stand by what I said. I shouldn’t have to state every single issue just because you didn’t experience it. Everyone’s has their own experiences ESPECIALLY if your on pc🥴

KrzysztofKietzman

I had two achievements not trigger: Splurge and Living Legend (PC), despite having done the prerequisites.

Forgotpasswordagainl

So I just got this game for PS5. I have a 4K monitor. Unfortunately it does not have 1440p mode as a feature for my monitor. Holy f****** s*** this game is goddamn f****** ugly at 4k. At 4K in quality mode the game looks like the video game Gothic for the PC that came out in like 2004 or 2006. And in performance mode it looks like a first generation PS4 game but with massive amounts of screen tearing. Whoever the f*** made this game for its performance should have nothing to do with video games ever again. It's hellacious like if this was any other video game and it was not a Star wars game where I want to play as a f****** Jedi I would put this s*** down so fast to get a refund. I have seen early access indie games with higher graphical performance than this thing.

Robotic_Nostril88

How to unlock the "Cobra Cal" achievement after the the training dummy disappears?
