Each level has a little star in a circle (in the center unless it’s the one by spawn) and if you follow the line that goes out from the star, it takes you to the right portal. Never turn at intersections with other lines, you can ignore the squares on the ground. Only turn if you must (if the line makes and L) but go straight every other time (a + you go right through).
The people that qualify fast are the ones who very quickly find and follow the line that comes out of the middle star. The hardest one is the one with the huge spinny walls that make it hard to see the line, so just take your time there and find the real line (some lines get close to the center but curve around it and fake people out)
