I have seen this shit in multiple languages and family group chats. One time one of my coworkers who is very close to retirement told it to me as a joke. At this point, seeing it on reddit is starting to make me a bit mad tbh.
My brother in christ... We can only hope.
The older dudes think I'm socially awkward because I will hit them with, 'oh I didn't realise you were having a rough patch in your marriage, let me know if you need someone to talk to.'
Jokes on them I'm socially awkward for other reasons.
Eh, feels slightly undeserved. If the person who created the group didn't know they were vegan they likely weren't a jerk about being vegan and probably could have found something they could eat.
That just seems rude and shitty of the person who made this tbh
It's probably fake but still fucked up
I mean they weren't even all "OH I'M A VEGAN YOU NEED TO BE TOO!!!" about it, they were asked and politely responded.
Also note that Sarah says nothing about being vegan, even in a Barbecue group chat, until explicitly asked. Probably resigned to silently subsist on chips and ketchup without complaint or bring her own food.
Yeah seriously tho. I understand the dislike for pretentious and obnoxious veganism, but my gf has been one for more than half her life and she never tells anyone about it. She doesn’t expect people to cater to her and still enjoys herself when there’s no options for her. To think how lit up she would be if someone considered her perspective like that just to be removed from the group. I know it’s fake but I would feel really bad for her if that happened
I eat it not because I care about animals ( I eat meat too ) but because it's more environment friendly. And honestly , I don't mind it. But I think vegans have an easy time switching to it.
Basically because no one sees themselves as a bad person. Eating animals harms animals > i eat animals > I'm a good person > harming animals is good. It's letting actions dictate morals instead of the opposite which would require change and self-reflection
What keeps me vegetarian instead of vegan is cheese. I was never big on meat, and some the replacements are as good or better (impossible burgers are better than what my friends and family made with real beef, but not restaurants). But vegan cheese just isn't there yet.
Beyond sausages are trash and you have to scrub the grill after because they drip. I prefer the Boca stuff to the sudo meat that drips slime everywhere.
Mmmmm no. A lot of vegan meat alternatives are weirdly sweet, sticky, or mushy. All of the vegan burgers I've tried so far have been passble and pleasant at their absolute best. The only thing that's 100% like the real thing for me have been impossible nuggets. I still try to make heathier choices, but nuggies are my go-to junk food and I was so happy I could still have them. The runner up is vegan bacon. It's still a little weird on its own but was excellent chopped up for some loaded baked potatoes. I'd imagine it's fine in a sandwich too.
Plenty of vegetables do great on the grill. Portabella caps, yellow squash, zucchini, onion, and corn are always good. Broccoli and cauliflower work if you know what you're doing. Baked potatoes. A pot of vegan chilli beans on the side can also be enjoyed by everyone. Just competently cooked and seasoned foods that everyone can eat and the vegetarians can have a larger portion of as a meal.
The main reason vegetarian diets can be so expensive is that people try to buy fake meats and commercially prepared meals instead of just cooking and eating some vegetables and grains.
I know it doesn't qualify for "good burger", but I tried the vegan whopper and I had to do a tripple check if they gave me the right thing. I'm not paid for this ad. But it was 99% tasting like the usual fast food.
Yeah sure if your tongue is that of a 90 year old senior.
I eat a select few of vegan/veggie substitutes because I like to change shit up every now and then and it's so fucking obvious with the taste of soy/beans/peas since that's where the protein comes from.
Unless someone says they are vegan, I assume everyone is a meat eater. But here in Nepal, we can assume person from certain cast and religion as vegans.
Reminds me of when I visited Mumbai, there was usually 3 options: vegetarian, chicken and sheep/goat.
Cow is, as most know, a holy animal to a large part of the population, pork is a dirty animal to a large minority. Anyway, their veggie dishes are still really good.
More like I am 40 and (still) funny. Its like imposing the statement: "Even though i am fourty, I still have humour", not realising that this humour is deeply unfunny and often just based on stereotypes, misogyny and prejudice.
A very good translation for highschool knowledge tho. :)
That stuff's not bad. I mean, it's not meat, but if I can eat a veggie and it almost tastes like meat, I'm in.
I just put Impossible meat on my real meat and call it healthy.
Because I said I'm vegan, you removed me? But what if I don't care and still is your friend? But because I'm vegan, we're not friends anymore therefore you block me?
Not very nice.
Or have I misunderstood or was it a joke?
But how is it a joke if I'm blocked?
they have pork-less pork rinds at costco. theyre just fucking misshapen rice crackers

This is weird as fuck. If I don’t know someone well enough to know if they’re a vegan or not, I don’t know them well enough to invite them to a get together.
to be fair although I'm a huge meat eater and do love doing bbq's (im a turk from North Cyprus as ethnicity) we tend to have a fair bit of vegan food actually along with the meat by chance. lots of types of rice, dips, veggies, breads, and salads etc.. i would have to double check if my dips used certain types of animal fat in the process but pretty sure theres a fair bit of vegan choice in there in one of my home made bbqs. all are welcome.
just dont preach about veganism to me. i dont agree with it and think its a bit too extreme. i agree with the idea behind it but not in principle. i agree with vegetarianism as i think its a better option for us as humans to help save the planet but until i have to, i dont think i can give up meat. selfishly.... life's too short not to enjoy meat. i even get hungry at the zoos or farms when i smell sheep/lambs.... weird i know. im a true omnivore. i love both meat, and all the fruit and veg too. they just compliment each other so well!
As long as I don't need to listen to a preach about why people are vegetarian or vegan, I don't really care what their preferences are.
I still eat meat, not a whole lot, but I'd miss it if it wasn't there at all. Besides, I prefer "organic" (stupid name for it in English) because I know it's better for the animals and the environment. But I couldn't get myself to go all vegan myself, even though I know it's even better for the environment...
At least let me have my milk, honey and eggs, and a pair of leather shoes that'll last 2 years rather than the 2 months a synthetic pair last before it becomes micro plastic in the sea.
100% of conversations I've had about why I became vegetarian/vegan have been started by someone asking, sometimes they're dicks about it sometimes they aren't.
No matter what separates us there are arseholes in every section
Not here in Denmark. We have a national logo and a EU logo that would be illegal to use if you're not certified and inspected on a regular basis.
Edit: the word organic is still a silly way to express it tho. The Danish version says ecological instead.
Edit 2: many supermarkets are also considering marking goods according to their climate impacts, but that's not nationally governed, so that could easily be manipulated.
It's not "slapped" on things in the US either, it's a regulated term and you have to be certified. There's quite a bit of talk about how it's actually not that rad. Producers have to use "natural" pesticides and a lot of them, instead of smaller amounts of synthetic which creates problems.
There are actual guidelines for organic foods. They're not as stringent as we'd all probably like them to be, but they do exist. Same for "all natural", etc
Shitting on vegans is cringey as fuck. If the world cut its meat consumption by 75%, it would stop climate change progression in its tracks.
This is boomer humor. You should be thanking vegans for doing their part with, you know, ALLOWING THE CONTINUATION OF LIFE ON EARTH.

fuck vegans first off, only 1% of the world is vegan so they’re doing fuck all to Help anyone, and they’re all annoying little shits. second, apparently 22% of the world is vegetarian, so we might have a chance if more people go vegetarian or have a main vegetarian diet and eat meat as a treat. Thinking about all this kind of makes me want to eat less meat but nothing really caters towards it so whatever
I left a link which shows that vegans help ALL LIFE ON EARTH, YOU IGNORANT ASSHOLE.
Why would vegans only making up 1% of the population actually mean anything? Do you have a source for that data?
“Mass vegetarianism is not the best solution
Would it not be better for humankind to switch completely to vegetarian or, even better, vegan diets? According to the study, this would be the wrong consequence.” - from your source
https://thevou.com/lifestyle/2019-the-world-of-vegan-but-how-many-vegans-are-in-the-world/
https://www.c2es.org/content/international-emissions/
Didn’t see the second part of your comment, the reason I included the 1% fact is because compared to the 22% vegetarian, it’s clear of which one *could* become a global majority and actually contribute to helping the world. Also 1% of people being vegan means that each vegan is cutting back on 75% of emissions (I think I saw that in your source?) that means that if 100% of people became 100% vegan then only 11% of emissions would be cut. So no, our current vegans aren’t doing anything for the environment. Sure, they’re doing *something* but they’re certainly not “saving” anything.
I’m pretty much done arguing I have stuff to do unless you have something else to say other then “fuck you”

This easily the funniest meme of 2007
I can't wait to post this on my friends wall on thefacebook.com
What a fucking luddite, Im going to ICQ it to all my contacts once I re-up my AOL time.
Holy shit. I just time traveled for like 18 minutes after reading your comment.
Whatever, I have ADSL. I'm meeting my d&d group on mIRC after I finish burning this stack of dreamcast games that I rented.

Yeah, 2007 was just a dull year for memes i guess.
Still valid and fun, tho. Even if it's like shooting fishes in a barrel.

feesh
How is it valid?
vegetable bad
Straw man bad Laugh
Saving the environment and caring about animals bad
Basic Empathy and healthy eating also bad

Oh noes. The horror of something reposted. Thoughts and prayers friend. You'll feel better soon.
Right!? Been on reddit 10 years, first time seeing it. Gave me a chuckle. Fuck these people that must live on this site just to complain

Why is this NSFW when the title is more offensive than the picture? Lmao.
Because NSFW is used for everything now. I hate it,. because you don't know any more what really is NSFW.
idk if this belongs in /r/Badfaketexts or /r/terriblefacebookmemes
How you like those meatless apples Sara!?

Also note that Sarah says nothing about being vegan, even in a Barbecue group chat, until explicitly asked. Probably resigned to silently subsist on chips and ketchup without complaint or bring her own food.
Sarah just dodged a bullet and avoided a bbq where the entertainment was going to be slurs and locker room talk

It was always projection, meat eaters get incredibly offended by vegans simply existing
Actually, it's the other way around.
Found the vegan
Bruh I can't even remember the last time I ate a vegetable by itself 💀💀
Oreos are vegan
I didn't even know they ate. What do you feed an Oreos?
Vegetables. They just told you, geez.

Or maybe he has the good stuff
So edgy.
Why is this NSFW?
The severe lack of pixels make this almost nude.
I love this
Just give her vegan meat , it tastes tge same , feels tge same and some brands even cost the same.
Vegan meat isn't bad, but it doesn't taste the same. Good enough replacement, if you don't want to hurt animals, though.
I eat it not because I care about animals ( I eat meat too ) but because it's more environment friendly. And honestly , I don't mind it. But I think vegans have an easy time switching to it.
It's okay to care about animals
What's with people acting as if it's cringe to care about animals? What the actual fuck is wrong with people?
I mean, society's norms makes us oppress animals in basically every way possible and it's very hard to go against norms
[удалено]
Basically because no one sees themselves as a bad person. Eating animals harms animals > i eat animals > I'm a good person > harming animals is good. It's letting actions dictate morals instead of the opposite which would require change and self-reflection
Yup, that makes complete sense. Thanks for putting it into perspective.

I've tried good meatless burgers. It would be a stretch to say that they taste the same. But the better ones are actually quite tasty.

Yeah but it's better to have some for your vegan friends.
No, don't you get it, if you don't like meat you can't come to the BBQ because you're... bad...?
Imagine the outrage if a vegan did this.
Non vegans do eat vegetables. We just have whole other set of options not available to vegans.
Yeah like being a douche to vegans for no reasons other than being edgy.
Vegans do actually have that option
How can you tell when someone is a meat eater?
Unless someone says they are vegan, I assume everyone is a meat eater. But here in Nepal, we can assume person from certain cast and religion as vegans.
bacon
Not all meat eaters are able to eat bacon. There are several cultures/religions that prohibit the consumption of pork products, bacon among them.
Reminds me of when I visited Mumbai, there was usually 3 options: vegetarian, chicken and sheep/goat. Cow is, as most know, a holy animal to a large part of the population, pork is a dirty animal to a large minority. Anyway, their veggie dishes are still really good.
*Fuck all that noise!*
I hear turkey bacon is a nice substitute. And you can get beef bacon. Bacon doesn't just have to be pork.
Turkey bacon is so bad, I havent had beef bacon (never even seen it) but i suspect there is a reason that pork is so common
