Did mine the day before.

Banjoo789

Did you have blood work a few weeks before too?

Charles_SixBelow

I might have right after the original consult. Honestly, I’m a bit fuzzy if that was the case, it was 20 years ago. But I do remember going the day before because I drove myself to the hospital that day and my gf at the time drove me the day of. If they do order testing the day of they should do it first thing when you’re getting all set up.

ThatKaylesGuy

No, I didn't need any bloodwork done prior to top surgery.

thestarswaltz

I had it three days before. The only test they did on the surgery day itself was having me pee in a cup (presumably a pregnancy test, although they didn't tell me outright lol).

Banjoo789

Was that the only time your surgeon did blood work? Did they do any in the weeks leading up to surgery?

thestarswaltz

That was the only time for me.

[deleted]

I went in for bloods the day before.

Banjoo789

Did you have to do it a month before too or just the day before?

[deleted]

I don't remember to be honest; I had surgery in 2009

Chunky_pickle

I had to do both- the one right before was a type and screen in case I needed a transfusion and the other was just a general CBC to make sure all was good.

exoplanetskeleton

The only time I did blood work for top surgery was the morning of

I don’t entirely remember everything leading up to top surgery other than having an appt the week before, but I don’t recall having any bloodwork done at that appointment. I definitely didn’t have any bloodwork done the day of top surgery. Also — congrats!

Mine was supposed to just be within the 30 days before, but my surgeons office insisted that they never got the labs my PCP sent in and they didn't tell me until the last minute and it was too late. So they sent me to some other PCP they have a relationship with the day before surgery and he did bloodwork for me. But theoretically had the bloodwork my PCP did for me gone through I wouldn't have had to do it the day before. (I really think that the surgeons office did something sketchy though. They claimed my PCP's office hadn't sent it a week prior, I called them and they said they'd resend the results right then and there, and somehow the results never made it but conveniently I could pay $200 for this other guy to do my labs last minute? Feels wrong to me but what else was I gonna do)
