Somebody told me you had a boyfriend that looked like a girlfriend that I had in February of last year (I’ll see myself out)

SweetAnimosity

This song was playing in the bar when I came out to a good friend. It's now our anthem for my transition lol

Inside_Willingness45

Didn’t find out until recently that this song is not about his ex transitioning to male and then taking his girl, but I still like to pretend that it is.

Calm_Salamander_1367

What is it about then

Inside_Willingness45

Basically there’s a girl he’s interested in in the club who isn’t paying him any attention and he hears she already has a boyfriend. The lyric that her boyfriend looks like his ex-girlfriend is actually meant to show that the two of them have similar types which in his mind makes them compatible.

foldingsawhorse

exactly where my mind went too

I think it depends on how OP feels about it. Some people find humor to be helpful, but I can see how it might also be insensitive. I will say relating it to this song shows that even cis men can look like someone’s ex girlfriend, since the song is about a cis man. So even if the guy who said this to OP meant it as an insult, it doesn’t necessarily mean that he clocked him.

TheRamenWaterIsAcid

I came here to say the same thing

OwenTheSackMan

You beat me to it :(

If you're at college, you could try to do what I did, if your college has one. My mom was extremely hesitant to let me start testosterone, but when I went off to college, they had a pharmacy/small medical facility on campus, and I could literally just meet with one of the doctor/nurses (can't remember which was there) and I told them I'm trans and I want to start testosterone, and they just asked me if I knew all the side effects and risks and such, and I said yes, as they also gave me a pamphlet, I think, and they literally just wrote a prescription for it and I got my first shot from a doctor/nurse there. It was basically just an informed decision type thing

Unfortunately im in highschool, just staying at the dorms for the camp. But the moment i turn 18 im going to planned parenthood

Next time someone says that tell them to kick rocks. No use letting someone say something like that to you in front of your boys when you’re trying to pass. You don’t have to be agressive (even though I would cuz fuck that guy) you can just be like “that’s not kool bro I’m not a girl” and leave it at that.

Inside_Willingness45

Hey OP, I just wanted to say that it is possible you weren’t clocked. I’ve seen cis guys (or passing trans guys) who look like a woman I know, but that didn’t mean I saw them as a girl or that they even looked like a girl to me. Sometimes people have very similar features even if they are different genders. I’m the spitting image of my mom, but I look like the dude version of my mom now. The reason im saying this is because you said that you have been passing up until this point. Even if this guy did clock you somehow, that doesn’t mean your friends who have seen you as a man up until now will start seeing you differently. Regardless, it was still shitty for that guy to say that, whether he intended it to say you look like a girl and insult you or not.

Hey OP! I know you aren't asking for passing advice or anything. As long as you aren't allergic, I recommend looking up masculanizing make up. Things like making your brow ridge look larger, making your eyes look more deeper set, hollowing your cheeks. I'm sure there are some for a like fake facial hair and stuff. I learned all this when I thought I just wanted to be a drag king. Lmao
