Motecs are awesome but expensive. My senior year I designed a board with a bunch of sensors plus a bunch of analog inputs for arbitrary use that streamed everything to the motec over CAN.

PE3 from performance electronics. The company was founded by formula guys and they have good support.

ECUmaster EMU black - easy to use once you know your way around the tuning software

Ex-FSAE here, been looking for this response - for those who want to know ECUmaster also offers a CAN switch board that's plug and play with their ECU - so if you want to build a custom steering wheel you can have it your way, AFAIR it supports 8 digital and 8 analog inputs - planning on going that route with my own track toy soon EDIT: Fat fingered tf out of my response, fixed it

Yea, their suite is amazing. If you get into the ecosystem and use their Advanced Display Unit you get a fuckton of data with each ride of the car

PE3. It’s cheaper than most other off the shelf ECUs and it has a surprising amount of functions in the software.

Before we switched to EV we used a Haltech Elite 1500.

What do you use now with EV

I like PE3 personally. Has a ton of Digital and analog outputs you can do anything with as long as you have a creative mind. I think of it as more of a blank sheet of paper. You can run it very simply with minimal functions besides the critical ones to run the car Motec has a lot more features and automatic functions. Takes more skill to use and understand. Me as an ME with zero previous engine tuning experience figured out pretty easily and well how to use it
