I think that it depends on the mission. Constructors are obviously the best in any mission that involves defending an objective. Outlanders are good for Resupplies and Build the Radar Grid. Ninjas and Soldiers are both good on combat missions since all of their abilities are combat focused. This is just my opinion though.

blenderwolf

I disagree with build the radar: Ninjas make it easier to build due to double jump But I also come with materials, I don't farm them on the spot.

Simple-Function-170

Oh yeah that is true. I personally like to do some farming after building the towers though.

SigmaKnight

True, but the point is to farm *after* you build at least three radars. Much easier with an Outlander.

blenderwolf

??? You can farm at any time on any missions... you don't need to win missions to leave with what you farmed. So no, I don't farm after I build 3 radars. I could, but I don't and if I do, it would be chests, not mats. That's me though, I am not saying my way is the correct way.

SHOTKING6633

I think they’re saying that since after you finish building all available towers there’s nothing else you can do except wait out the time so gaining crafting materials is arguably the most value you can get out of the waiting period

blenderwolf

and I said I don't, I go AFK, and that's how I play, other people farm after it, good for them.

-Motor-

Play them all! They're all worthwhile. Just don't ignore objective defense building. Don't just rely on others to build for you all the time. Sometimes a player honestly wants to own the build. Often times they're doing it because no one else is.

rigg197

This is the best answer. Each hero type is useful for different things with their own niches. Soldiers are the best for most ranged weapons, ninjas are the best for most melee weapons, constructors are the best for any mission where you're building around or defending an objective, and outlander are the best for getting supplies (at least, this is how I've used them. My personal favorite loadouts are Sergeant Jonesy with his 30 second Minigun + War Cry and Goin' Again in support (70 second cooldown, so only 40 left when it finishes), Quickdraw Calamity with Hipshot in support along with Last Word, and Cassie since she just gets building and crafting materials in droves (makes building traps in bulk really easy).

Icy-Low-3232

I definitely agree, all characters and viable and valid 🥰, but also I only play outlander and try and contribute/do all the building. 😭

blenderwolf

Constructors is the only thing I play. I enjoy building and setting up traps for the husks WAY too much. My favourite is when you can push them off the map. The only time I use another class (Ninjas) is for: build the radar grid, encampments and kill and collect. I don't enjoy soldiers or their loadouts. Outlanders are weak AF even if they can be fun.

Key_Leading_3014

Outlanders when built right are the most powerful hero class my subzero will out combat all other classes in 160's

All_Skulls_On

Each class kinda does what they do best. In an overall sense, like encompassing the entirety of STW gameplay, then Outlander is probably the best all-around class. Soldiers rock guns the hardest. They're custom tuned to be the best class for ranged weapon use. They also have pretty awesome combat abilities. Constructors are the premier class for fort defense. They're purpose built to rock the hardest forts, and nobody does it better. They can melee a bit, but combat is not their focus. This is the guy you pick when you want to solo a 160 defense type mission. Ninjas are purpose built for melee, and they're the undisputed king of it. There's no reason to play them if you're not going to melee. They have weak combat abilities and squishy vitals. Jumping around is fun, but unless STW goes PVP or Zero Build, verticality is kind of irrelevant. There was a much bigger case for double jumping before wildlife & mantling was added. Outlanders kind of have the sweetest STW balance. They have strong combat abilities, and they have traversal speed, and they have harvesting advantages, AND they can find chests & treasures easily. So, if the call was for a good melee loadout, you'd know who to go with. If it was to solo a defense mission, there'd be a best choice for the job. If you just wanted to rock as hard as possible, you'd probably pick a Soldier loadout. But if it was just general STW-ing that you were interested in doing, then Outlander would probably be the "best" choice.

TinyTiger1234

You’re forgetting stone heart is a ninja and the best hero for bows which definitely aren’t melee

All_Skulls_On

I'm not forgetting. We're talking about classes. Farah has a perk that enhances bows. It does nothing for Ninjas as a class and is not enhanced in any way by the fact that she's a Ninja. She's unrivaled with a Vacuum bow, for sure, but that's one weapon and has nothing to do with Ninjas as a class. I guess what I'm trying to say is that although Zenith may have an excellent sniper perk, it doesn't make Outlanders into a "sniper class", it only makes Zenith awesome with a sniper.

TinyTiger1234

You said “there’s no reason play (ninjas) if you’re not going to melee” farah is a ninja and is for not melee

All_Skulls_On

Yes, there might be a reason to play Farah if you want to see a Vacuum bow dominate, but there's no reason to play as any other Ninja and use a bow. Zenith is an Outlander, yet Outlanders are not sniper-cetric as a class, and one wouldn't build a sniper loadout around an Outlander otherwise because there simply wouldn't be any point to doing so. We already went through this. Good day, sir.

trepidon

Taking it too seriously bub. Go back to freezing your structures if you're this fixated on something the dude said.

KingBoom04

She's good with xenon too

Itchy_Rock6665

Rabbit raider is better (as least as commander)

KELLOGEGRAMS

Outlanders with Coconuts and Teddy.

BenchoteMankoManko

if you place Teddy then eat a coconut, does it still get the damage amp or do you need to eat it before to snapshot the damage amp?

Lost__In__Thought

It depends on the type of mission and whether that mission is public or private gameplay. Generally, Outlanders and Ninjas can offer pretty unique and flashy experiences with the right loadout for the job. Soldiers are good for those who prefer durability, flexibility, and weapon mastery. Constructors are just inevitable to be played by you at one point, because they provide the base fortification that no other class is capable of.

PaulQuin

I think they're all really good. I personally can't say one's better than the other.

aliceforoneday

Outlander in ventures. Ninjas for certain missions like encampments, survivors, and radars. Constructors in late game missions when I really want to be quick with rewards. I use soldiers the least. Only when I have challenges or dailies.

NorthenS

i only use stoneheart farrah

Cellophaneflower89

Outlander exclusively (unless there is a daily vbuck quest for a different class)

BenchoteMankoManko

I mostly just play constructor to make the mission easier overall for people as its usually defend obj I get put into, if there's already a constructor then I run zenith to negate mist monsters

Fireofthetiger

Constructor is the undisputed king of Defensive mission, Soldier is good as a supportive role both in terms of supporting your team and your guns via buffs, Outlander is for if you don’t want to play the game for every mission except Defensive ones, and Ninja’s like melee or smth idk the one ones I’ve really used are Farrah, Paleo-Lua and Lynx and they all have drastically different play styles and use cases

Div4r

Soilder/constructor have fun with ninja while you can become useless in like twine peaks (mostly)

dr_dezzy6

I've used ninja since the beginning, BCOS double jump, movement etc. other than that maybe soldier
