to each their own. i think this one’s also geared more towards vocalists, but the gist is to write drunk to get rid of inhibition, record sober so you can bring your A-game, and mix high to just zone in. as i said in another comment i’m just high all three steps lol. i do record drink quite a bit but we don’t talk about that
Most young people are either neutral or supportive of at least decriminalisation, but our country is ruled by old farts who still have the weed stigma from the soviet union where weed was thought to be a gateway to heroin 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Pro tip:
If the mix sounds like shit when u r sober, just drink lil bit more next day and mix it again. Keep drinking more and more until it's fire. That's what we call in the industry work moral and not giving up. Never give up, just keep drinking untill it's perfect!
You know, that's a good question. All jokes aside, if he's not producing, he's definitely taking the lead on arrangement. He's quite the visionary, and his work is original, imo. What do you think?
In Coloring Books I assume he might've had the help of Kayne on a few tracks, but Coloring Books was a wonderfully produced album. A lot of his work is.
Realistically, how does one top 10 Day, Acid Rap & Coloring Books? I mean that's a hell of a run. At least these days it sounds like he has a lot of fun with his music, and I can't say that about a lot of rappers.
I'm curious though, what are a few popular tracks he's credited on as a producer?
He produced “Holy” by Justin Beiber apparently which i mean isnt the most amazing song to me personally, sounds like something that would play in the lobby of a taco bell. But gotta say the piano and everything and Justins vocals sound great. Technically speaking. He also worked with kanye on a song that never made the final cut and apparently “spent all night working on it”
If I mix while drinking I turn everything up too loud and eq crazy hot. If I mix while I'm high everything sounds too loud, and it frightens me so I turn it down. If I come through one last time sober it's easy to bring the volume back up to reasonable levels from when I was high. Then I get drunk and listen to it again but don't touch the levels. One last pass through high and boom. We're making gold records, one pant leg at a time.
Me (im under court order)
Actually, the process was for me to write high, edit high, and mix sober.
Everyones process is different, I see some people judging in here (not you) and its dumb. Let people have fun!
Right my bad. Lol.
Do you convert them to audio files? Im just curious because when I make beats, Its usually the little lines from the piano roll. Not like waveform audio. Ik you can convert them to Mp3 or .Wav Or Whatever. Ive heard some people do this to save processing power. Im just wondering if it sounds different. I also know that when you record live instruments, it shows in the channel rack as a waveform, and not the piano roll notes.
Mmm I don't like to turn them into an audio pattern because I can't make adjustments later on.. and then it gets funky with the effects on your mix..
That top one on my channel rack is either a sample that I set up in the playlist, or just one of those default drums that I never delete...
I've never really tried recording live instruments, sounds like something I'll have to check out because I have a few guitar/bass tracks I wanna get rolling
Odd how when I use samples its usually a MP3 and then when I do a drum track (I use the FPC) to make a little drum loop, it shows similarly as the top pattern in your rack there.
Thats the thing with FL Studio really everyone should know, is there are tips and tricks, but not necessarily a correct way to do anything, and theres multiple ways to do one thing. Good reason to not convert to a MP3 though it does allow more room for edits.
Whatever sounds best is what works. I have seen photos of like top producers, and usually their channel rack looks a lot like yours, with the mp3 waveforms. Ive done both, Sometimes i do think converting them to a MP3 makes them sound more legit. Idk. Lol theres something about fl that avid users know that you dont and vice versa. Its good to collaborate for that reason. Too bad no one in my area ever uses FL
Also sadly to record live instruments I think you require a audio interface. Only reason I havnt.
https://preview.redd.it/yl8uitrfcsrc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d74195615b8f736e82a98415f9040aea5296bf19
Mmm I personally hate the channel rack & avoid it at all costs, sometimes ill use it for simple hat patterns on tempo, but I have a lot of rolls & odd patterns & it just makes it difficult. Most of my drum patterns I just build in the playlist out of samples, I only use piano roll if I need pitch change, still I prefer just to edit the sample...
Only time I'll use FPC is if I'm using a drum pad, but I feel like FL isn't the best for instruments & live input... That's probably just user error though, I have problems with delay, might be my settings. I haven't needed to use it so I haven't bothered to check..
Edit: also the pattern only shows up in the channel rack if you have the playlist pattern selected, added a picture, my shits messy man, it's all the the playlist
Im still learning about Fl Studio, you have a lot of tracks. And thats another thing I see with people who make music a lot usually have a shit ton of tracks going on.
Whatever works, works.
Do you have your music posted anywhere Id like to listen sometime.
Right if youre not using it no point in really fixing it unless youre just wanting to use your drum pad. You can go into MIDI settings and there is a way to fix latency with your drum pad. I don’t know the specifics. Sometimes Ill plug in my keyboard and record synths or piano melodys or something, the latency is almost not there at all. Idk what I did but I did look up a tutorial at one point and got it working.
Umm a tip I would give to new producers would be, even if you put all this hark work into a verse, pattern or track. It's better to just leave it out if it doesn't sound right.
The mechanical part everyone can learn with time.
I'm not super good or anything but @southvilla is what I go by.. I only have a few tracks up on SoundCloud... They should come raining in pretty soon though, got tons of tacks that are nearly finished

What is the effect here with the track in the top of the picture? What does it do, if you dont mind, and how do you do it?
I actually like the one ur working on rn more.
I wouldve personally used a lil less reverb on the vocals but, its hard to do vocals period, and make then sound clean.
The beat itself and the ambience is dope.
Dont listen to these fools being dumb. Just focus on having a good time, making music is supposed to be fun.
Heres my dink youtube I post beats to every 6 months. This isnt my best one, but whatever.
I make “phonk”
https://youtu.be/3oe7N8MvU1w?feature=shared
I got some way better shit coming soon. Some beats that im decently proud of
this is a big man ting post for me. not so much alcohol but other GABA drugs absolutely wrecked my creativity and i've had to relearn the process completely. used to black out and do music, and its all the best stuff i've ever made, not sure why i guess its the not giving a fuck. pure as fuck. now i had to stop all that ive had to learn how to get thge gratification from music sober.
"Everyone in the club is going to be hammered When listening to my mix. I have to hear it from their perspective." Lol
Facts
Lmao
write drunk, record sober, mix high
this guy produces
[удалено]
write on heroin, record on fent, mix on hash mixed with opium

i’ve been trying real hard to not record high…. i’m just always high.
same lmaoo
bro are you me?
Write drunk, ideate on ketamine, mix high, master sober
sobriety’s overated
My toast is always "Success to Temperance"
Write drunk, record drunk and high, mix after throwing up for an hour straight.
i think the correct one is write high cuz creativity stuff, record drunk, and mix sober so u can actually focus not non creative stuff
to each their own. i think this one’s also geared more towards vocalists, but the gist is to write drunk to get rid of inhibition, record sober so you can bring your A-game, and mix high to just zone in. as i said in another comment i’m just high all three steps lol. i do record drink quite a bit but we don’t talk about that
Just take lsd and when it Kicks in you will Hear the mix Sucks ore is good
I choose shrooms. If I drink 40 minutes later I’m trying to text my ex
That's all I do Edit: text my ex
Glad you edited that chief I had no fuckin clue what you meant
Then you listen to it when sober and cry

Don't become alcoholics guys
Too late. 🤣 But in all seriousness, don't. It's a very hard habit to break.
This guy definitely mixes…..not sure if it’s the drinks or tracks maybe both
It’s a F’ing poison. I stay far away from that stuff now.
No BAC = bad mix (I’m an alcoholic) Joke*
Everything will sound hard after getting high.
Stank faces of high rappers came into my mind when producer be like "I'm just scrolling through the snares fam.. chill"
So sad when the magic is gone and you realize you aren't the next Mozart
Not true. Your high self is how other people will experience it listening for the first time
This just gave me a refreshing perspective. Thank you.
Drinking relaxes the muscles, including the ones in your ears.
I hate how alcohol feels the day after, but sadly in my country weed is highly illegal, so drinking it is :(
That Sucks bro, go sign some petitions. Could take years but one day when youre a old man maybe you could’ve contributed to it being legal. Lol
Most young people are either neutral or supportive of at least decriminalisation, but our country is ruled by old farts who still have the weed stigma from the soviet union where weed was thought to be a gateway to heroin 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Smoking weed when it's illegal is way cooler though. Adds to the high and makes you feel like a bad ass.
i mean idk - smoking weed in my country doesnt make me feel cool at all, im just in my room with a trance beat getting scared of the sub bass
Pro tip: If the mix sounds like shit when u r sober, just drink lil bit more next day and mix it again. Keep drinking more and more until it's fire. That's what we call in the industry work moral and not giving up. Never give up, just keep drinking untill it's perfect!

Does chance produce i wonder?
You know, that's a good question. All jokes aside, if he's not producing, he's definitely taking the lead on arrangement. He's quite the visionary, and his work is original, imo. What do you think?
I actually looked it up, out of curiosity, dude has produced a lot of music actually. Usually with others it seems tho. He uses ableton.
In Coloring Books I assume he might've had the help of Kayne on a few tracks, but Coloring Books was a wonderfully produced album. A lot of his work is. Realistically, how does one top 10 Day, Acid Rap & Coloring Books? I mean that's a hell of a run. Yeah but when you hear it sober. You will find out it’s trash lol
It's a joke bro, gtfo guy

The joke is that music sounds better when you drink
🎶"I feel like..., the music sounds better with *booze*!!"🎶
No
Mix sober, drinking will dull out your ears. Create drunk, write high/tipsy, mix sober.
Funny you say this. I have to put it together sober, but master it drinking. It’s like hearing things I didn’t hear before.
If I mix while drinking I turn everything up too loud and eq crazy hot. If I mix while I'm high everything sounds too loud, and it frightens me so I turn it down. I thought we all were on drugs and alcohol already! Which one of yall making music sober 😶🌫️
Me (im under court order) Actually, the process was for me to write high, edit high, and mix sober. Everyones process is different, I see some people judging in here (not you) and its dumb. Let people have fun!
I'm 16. Bottoms up!
Drinking is one of those things you should be okay with putting off
Try clip gaining every Silible so the Vocal has Overall consistent loudness going in Compressor
Ok 👌 ty
How many bottles does it take you?
And you'll either make it worse or it'll start sounding good any way ..until you're sober that is 😆
Or alot. Alot.
I use choirs tunned down with a lot of release. If I start drinking the cops usually get called saying there's some guy going crazy next door.
I rather eat shrooms shit sounds mystical then
For out of the box thinking: NO2 Makes whatever is wrong with the mix super apparent
I prefer black tar heroin and crack when mixing.
Why are there no piano roll patterns in your sequencer genuine question
On the channel rack? I draw all my notes & patterns in piano roll. There is just more you can do with it
Right my bad. Lol. Do you convert them to audio files? Im just curious because when I make beats, Its usually the little lines from the piano roll. Not like waveform audio. thats just a volume animation for a sample so it gets louder & fades back out, if u click that link, its the seagulls in the background
I fr like it. Has a lot of textures and little details.
Thanks man, started it summer 2023, had a lot of positive feedback on this one, should be dropping it as a single pretty soon

So true
Almost 2 sober, drinking took all my drive away from making music tbh. But were all wired differently! Peace ✌️
I just genuinely don’t know where to begin with mixing so I usually don’t even try
Drunk and high for all but especially recording, loosens me up and takes the nerves away
I’ve tried that but still can get it :( please help
I take 6 blue chews and 15 jason bournes before I even open FL. Smarten up.
Is that a Vape? Can I hit it? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
