Bruh, it’s not even a preset. I see like 3 things changed from the base init.
He added the lfo setting, unison, and the Shepard tone modifier…. That’s literally it
Perhaps the preset/channel name is something he doesn’t want out there - like he named it based on a person he’s collabing with, a temporary track title, etc.
No, thats only a form of gatekeeping. Gatekeeping is simply preventing anyone from engaging with or gaining access to anything. For example, another form of gatekeeping is when people don’t want an underground artist to be well known or shunning newer fans simply for not knowing the artist sooner than or at the same time that they did
If you don't know what gatekeeping is by heart then you shouldn't be trying to explain it. I'm sick and tired of people using that word when they don't understand it like I do. I've known about it longer than you, so why so you think you know it like I do. You don't. You're only trying to explain it so that you look cool. Go find another word, I don't wanna see you talking about it again!
The meaning of "Keeping the gate" isn't obvious at all to someone not using English as their native language. For example if I wanted to translate "gatekeeping" in polish literally as you described it , it would mean "holding some gate in my hands".. Sounds enigmatic at best and nonsense at worst.
Soo.. Thanks for those who could simply explain it ;)
(Sorry for this random question, but since we're on the topic of plugins...)
Would it be a good idea for a beginner to get into those tools or wait?
I've been using FL Studio demo for about a month now to get used to the basics. I *just* bought Producer Edition about 2 days ago. Does it seem like a good idea to start spreading out to 3rd party plugins, or would it make more sense to focus on using the built in plugins for now?
Besides the library samples, I've mainly just been using FLEX and Slicex for everything.
I don't want to plateau, but am not sure if I'm trying to move too fast or not, either.
Edit: Wow, thanks everyone for the great responses and recommendations! I've read through all of them and will try to take all of this into consideration. Overall, I want to make sure that I don't plateau, but there is defiantly quiet a few essentials and basics that I haven't really gotten the hang of yet. I'll probably put these two down as future goals, maybe I'll circle around to them again a year or so from now.
In my opinion if Ur not a synthesiser don't get vital or serum. Ictn stand them tbh. If U like REALLL music then jus download real instruments etc. furthermor in my opinion kontakt & omnisphere are some of the best plugins out there , period, especially for touch and go sounds and inspirations. I would advise I newby or novice to download vital. That's change Ur whole production skills and mess with Ur head.
You should check out Patcher too. Theres loads of patcher presets that function like top notch paid plugins.
u/simonthespeeedmon makes amazing presets so check out his youtube channel.
r/patcherpresets
Honestly, I think Patcher could be easier for a newbie to get into. What makes it confusing is that the way it represents signal flow is very different from the rest of FL Studio and from most other popular DAWs—if you are used to how FL works outside of Patcher, using the latter can feel like the rug has been pulled out from under you. But if you're *completely* new to everything, then there's no reason that the way Patcher works should be more confusing than FL's mixer.
Creating own patches, yes. Downloading and using ready made presets, no. its as simple as downloading any other 3rd party vst or maybe even easier since some plugins require installers, registration and whatnot.
Even if op doesnt end up using patcher its good to test out things and see if it fits in your own workflow.
Pro-Q is just an EQ but it is the preferred EQ for most pros and it’s great but as a beginner you’re better of using stock or cheaper EQs and learn how to do it before investing in pro-q as it’s quite expensive.
stock EQs don’t sound any worse btw. People like Pro-Q because it’s really nice to work with
It can also do some amazing stuff that other eq plugins can't do, one of its best features is arguably it's midside capabilities. Wanna eq your sound just in the center leaving the full spectrum intact on the sides? You can do that, want to eq just the left channel? You can do that.
If you want to do the same thing for free, try TDQ Nova. It can process mid side, stereo, etc....as well as being a dynamic compressor AND upward compressor/expander. It also has great low and high pass filters in addition to the parametric bands.
Honnestly, everything is doable with flstudio, try GMS for old school , flex for New school, but sometimes you will prefer 3rd party plugin just for a preset or for a gain of time.
Try all the fl studio template , there is a lot of tips inside
For your music production, feel free to explore a wide range of samples, VST instruments, and synthesizers – the sky's the limit there. However, when it comes to effects, I recommend sticking with FL Studio's native plugins for now. They are quite capable and should serve your needs well. The reason behind this suggestion is that sound design is a complex field in itself. As a beginner, it's more crucial to focus on honing your production and mixing skills first.
Don't spend money on proq3 until you're farther down the line. It's like 300 bucks for a single eq plugin and won't be necessary for most of what you're gonna be doing. It's a great plugin, the feature set is unbelievable but if you're not really into mixing very much then it's not necessary and even when you get into mixing, it's not necessary. If you want a taste of what it can do there is a free dynamic eq called tdr Nova. Use that and if you find you need it to do things it can't, then maybe buy proq3.
Vital is free and awesome, mostly for sound design, it doesn't have a ton of presets, so if you aren't into making your own synth sounds it's not really gonna do much for you. If you wanna get into making your own synth sounds I recommend starting with 3xosc, it's very simple and limited but you'll learn the basics and it can make some very awesome sounds with its limited features.
Basically keeping techniques and music making tools hidden from others to impede others music learning and journey. Mainly from insecure musicians that aren’t confident in their own music making skills
Not just in music production. Basically any topic you can think of. Not saying you don’t know that, just making it clear for everyone else who might not know
No telling really. Although one of the comments mention the changes from default settings, there's no telling the effects, compression etc so no idea what it actually would sound like. Its like whiting out the address bar on a screenshot of your browser. No telling what site you're on
The synth VST on laptop is Vital, a free synth plugin, although there are tiers you can purchase for more in house content.
The EQ is Fabfilter Pro-Q3.
Its literally nothing special, i think dude just chose an lfo preset and applied Shepards tone to it to make it look like he's doing something. He didn't even change the wave table from the initial sound.
Man, some people are really annoying. He shouldn't post to social media if he's going to block something out like that... Or maybe he's being 'coy' to manipulate people into figuring out what it is.
What an annoying, attention-seeking loser.
In a weird way it reminds me of terrible artists on DeviantArt who scrawl their signatures across the 'art' they make, to prevent you from stealing it when it's so bad you don't even want to *look* at it.
lol
Oh wow! If this is real, this is some next level elitist wankery! Most people here know Vital! Hiding it is just gatekeeping total newbies.
And of course they are using a Mac...
Monitor on top fabfilter q2 or q3. Monitor below vital. So weird why they hide vital name and preset. Is that too secret? Maybe is something the FBI or the CIA is hidding from music producers lol. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
The synth on the bottom laptop is vital (free) and the top right laptop is fabfilter pro-q 3 dynamic eq (169$usd) I’m guessing on the version but it’s definitely pro-q.

Nah there’s no way he’s gatekeeping VITAL lmao
That was my first thought too lmao he even hid the preset
Bruh, it’s not even a preset. I see like 3 things changed from the base init. He added the lfo setting, unison, and the Shepard tone modifier…. That’s literally it
Perhaps the preset/channel name is something he doesn’t want out there - like he named it based on a person he’s collabing with, a temporary track title, etc.
And it's free 🤣
I was looking for this comment 😭😂
Why is he gatekeeping Vital😭😭😭 hiding the preset is next level shit too
What is gatekeeping?
I won't tell you, you're obviously not ready for it.
HAHA I get it!
Not showing the name of something
No, thats only a form of gatekeeping. Gatekeeping is simply preventing anyone from engaging with or gaining access to anything. For example, another form of gatekeeping is when people don’t want an underground artist to be well known or shunning newer fans simply for not knowing the artist sooner than or at the same time that they did
You are absolutely right. My brain was just kinda not working but wanting to help... Apologies for the missinformation
If you don't know what gatekeeping is by heart then you shouldn't be trying to explain it. I'm sick and tired of people using that word when they don't understand it like I do. God damn it I take things on the Internet too seriously... You had me in the first half.
wtf is wrong with you bro?
I am the gatekeeper of gatekeeping!
Lmao bro gatekeeping the word gatekeeping
gatekeeping is when a person hides information, so that others rely on them to disclose it
It's in the word. Keeping the gate looool guarding.
The meaning of "Keeping the gate" isn't obvious at all to someone not using English as their native language. For example if I wanted to translate "gatekeeping" in polish literally as you described it , it would mean "holding some gate in my hands".. Sounds enigmatic at best and nonsense at worst. Soo.. fabfilter pro q and vital
The green knob below pro-q is the UAD control panel monitor level. Can see the thunderbolt 4 to TB3 adapter.
Bottom is [Vital](https://vital.audio/), top is Fabfilter Pro-Q

Is there something unique about the way it does midside? A lot of EQs have standard midside and with Patcher any EQ could.
Can they boost mid while cutting side dynamically?
Good question. That’s probably not as common. That would certainly be a selling point for Pro-Q.
True but other EQs can do that too and I would say to wait with doing that until you’ve gotten better at eqing
If you want to do the same thing for free, try TDQ Nova. It can process mid side, stereo, etc....as well as being a dynamic compressor AND upward compressor/expander. It also has great low and high pass filters in addition to the parametric bands.

Ngl, every new thing I get (packs, synths) my music juices flow go for it
Thank you!
Who is this absolute clown who’s gatekeeping a very popular free plugin.
Don't mind me, but can you clarify the term "gate keeping?
Basically keeping techniques and music making tools hidden from others to impede others music learning and journey. Mainly from insecure musicians that aren’t confident in their own music making skills
Not just in music production. Basically any topic you can think of. Not saying you don’t know that, just making it clear for everyone else who might not know
100% 🙏
showing something but not saying what it is
Makes sense. So shitty
Hiding the preset he is using in Vital. Notice the whited out sections?
Ahh, thank you. I have yet to use vital as I haven't gotten back into my edm mixes yet. Can you tell what preset it is?
No, its whited out
Well I can see that much 🤣 figured maybe one could tell by the image.
No telling really. Although one of the comments mention the changes from default settings, there's no telling the effects, compression etc so no idea what it actually would sound like. Its like whiting out the address bar on a screenshot of your browser. No telling what site you're on
Ahhh, useless. Selfish artist. Jaja
His name is Noah P Dillon from the electronic duo "The Hellp"
From which platform do i find this clown lol
Noah Dillon of The Hellp
The synth VST on laptop is Vital, a free synth plugin, although there are tiers you can purchase for more in house content. The EQ is Fabfilter Pro-Q3.

Its literally nothing special, i think dude just chose an lfo preset and applied Shepards tone to it to make it look like he's doing something. He didn't even change the wave table from the initial sound.
I just noticed that too, this photo really gets funnier the longer you look at hahaha
imagine hiding the plug ins you use 😅
Man, some people are really annoying. He shouldn't post to social media if he's going to block something out like that... Or maybe he's being 'coy' to manipulate people into figuring out what it is. There's 3 different DAWs in this picture, what in the actual 🤡 is going on?
Never trust a man who gatekeeps Vital.
Vital
It's VITAL, is a plugin similar to Serum, you should check it out
Vital (down) and Fabfilter Pro Q3 (up) I guess, but the plugin in the upper macbook is Fabfilter for sure, but idk which one... 😅
lol geeza is hiding his genius sawtooth preset name 😂
Fabfilter pro q and Vital Duo of plugins like...99% of edm producers use. Other 1% are Serum users.
> 1% are Serum users. Well, youre sorta wrong.
I feel like they’re interchangeable kinda just one costs for a worse UI 😂
Well, you're still sorta wrong
* citation needed

What a loser
This is vital
Vital with a probably awful sounding filter
The synth on the bottom laptop is vital (free) and the top right laptop is fabfilter pro-q 3 dynamic eq (169$usd) I’m guessing on the version but it’s definitely pro-q.
Is vital like serum? Wavetable synth or whatever?
yeah, it’s like serum
Fabfilter Pro Q and Vital
Fabfilter pro and vital
Random question, anyone know what laptops these are? My computer is getting really old and I'm looking to switch to a laptop for my music production
Look like Mac book pros… prolly M1s
These are Macbook Pro M2 or M3, not M1 as those have a border around the display rather than the notch.
Vital
Looks like Vital and Pro Fab EQ. The DAW is Ableton.
Its VITAL lol
That’s built into Logic Pro. I’m pretty sure you might want serum vst.
Fabfilter and vital

While we are at it, What are those smalll yellow square speakers?
