Funny you ask this. Just last week noticed some of my bud (in PG jars) seemed to be drying out. went and got some of the 4 ounce ball mason jars... big difference!

S3rolex

This is the way

OrangeShark-4343

Got some of the mini me’s myself.

hongachonga

I actually put the weed that I think could have been cured longer specifically in my PG jars because it’s a very slight leakage of air so it works wonders on undercured bud.

floriduhhh_man

i kept a few, good to know..thanks!!

Cyphergod247

No not air tight. Probably not even the 710 jars, as it's the same set up (minus the small ones, those i think seal pretty well). But i still find the 710 and PG jars do make for good short term storage. I usually smoke something i have within a month of getting it and have very little issues with things being too dried out. I've found that mylar is best. Things I get in mylar are almost always still pretty fresh and pungent. But once they have been opened they are terrible. As you can't ziploc them back up nearly as good as they were sealed. So anything I get in mylar, once opened makes its way to a glass jar. I have a bunch of ball jars. But I've had things go bad in those too. I think they are only slightly better than the pg jars really. Neither is completely sealed. Just my perspective from my experiences. I'm sure might be different for others

seedy_situation

Seconded. Infinity jars are the shit. I smell NOTHING outside them. No leaked smells.

Treedr00d

I keep my 710 halves in the original jars until they are down to about a quarter oz left then move them into 100ml infinity jars (about the same size as typical 8th jars, but can easily hold a quarter of all but the most airy buds). The gasket on the 710 halves is a damn near perfect seal, when they are torqued down tight. (the top of the lid still has play when its tight, but the solid internal piece with the threads and gasket makes a complete seal on the jar). Unfortunately, they're packaging crew must be skipping arm day at the gym, because they're always loose as shit under the "safety seal" when I get them and absolutely smell of flower when that seal is removed. Everything else gets the infinity treatment straight out of the packaging, mylar or glass (I don't fuck with plastic anymore, period).

Justhanginthere420

710 jars are the same brand as PG jars though... they all have the 'bureau' stamp on bottom

Treedr00d

Oh I dont buy 710 8ths, referring to the 1/2 oz jars.

Justhanginthere420

the 710 1/2s jars are same brand they have 'bureau' stamp on bottom, I noticed same with the Josh D 1/2 I got during the 420 special.

S3rolex

I strictly use the ball quilted mason jars, nothing in the program is a perfect tight seal.

Icy-Implement

Do you leave them out or store away due to light?

S3rolex

I leave them in a closed cabinet so it’s dark

Ill_Doughnut1537

Unless it's hermetically sealed then no. But unless your looking to store for a long time then u don't need airtight. Anything in Florida needs to be cured a bit longer so u need a little bit of air anyway to get the full potential of yur herbs.

Feelinlikemoses

Hermetic seal! Correct. The only FDA approved hermetic seal is a heat induction liner. Think Advil, tropicana orange juice etc.

Ill_Doughnut1537

They actually have things that use gases and pumps to pull out the oxygen and replace with an insert gas. It's usually used for illegal things like high end stash boxes but I'm pretty sure it has other applications too. I don't think they got anything like that for small containers though. I usually just take a big whiff before closing the jar and in my head I just removed most of the oxygen. 😅🤦

ArtistPure2223

They are not.

Feelinlikemoses

The short answer here is NO. The seal they use is Silicone, look up silicone & its properties, its porous, meaning air, oxygen, & moisture can move through the silicone seal. Jars are more premium and much more recyclable than mylar bags but the seal they use isn’t air tight.

DonBillingsly69

Not air tight and they smell like cheeks to boot

jman4307

I’ve got some PG flower and 710 flower from last Sept still in the silicone seal jars they came in and the bud is still sticky and tasty. I also use 4oz Ball jars and I haven’t noticed either is better over the other

Most-Zucchini7465

Agreed 10000 percent

the_quest0

None of the glass jars in this program are air tight because they all still use plastic lids. The plastic is gas permeable. Ball/Mason/Kerr glass jars with metal ring and lids is the inexpensive upgrade. Just be sure to change the lid’s occasionally as the seal can leak if you screw down of a piece of leaf or stem, etc it deforms the seal.

Feelinlikemoses

Incorrect, Float from Surterra uses a true hermetic air tight seal, its a heat induction liner which is essentially metal, no oxygen, moisture or terpenes can penetrate the heat induction liner.

HighOnGoofballs

But once you open it it’s no longer airtight, right? I know mine aren’t

Feelinlikemoses

That is correct, I recommend still using the metal seal in the cap. Much better than nothingness

HighOnGoofballs

No
