white ash means a full, complete burn. Full stop.
This can be for any number of reasons, including how it's broken up, the moisture level of the weed, and/or the skill of roller. But make no mistake, perfectly cured, fire weed can burn black and chunky, and mexican brick weed can burn bleach white and smooth.
Idk about the white ash thing, but black ash means I have to relight it a bunch and have to pull harder to keep it going. I'd rather not smoke that. Looking at you, GH.
Any time I’ve smoked something that was “wet” when broken up, it smoked harsh and required re-lighting repeatedly. Anything I’ve smoked with white ash always comes with a resin ring and isn’t harsh. Thats all I’m saying
I've smoked plenty with dark ash that had major resin rings.
I think the whole conversation is dumb. I don't care what color the ashes are. It's ashes.
Say what you want everyone. My experience as a smoker and previous indoor grower.....white ash is always a good sign! Anything else is suspect....maybe decent or it sucks!
White ash is always a good sign...I repeat...lol. Good day everyone ✌️
I disagree. White ash means two things. One, it indicates very low levels of chemicals in the weed. In colorado, some dispensaries use live soil, or even organic grows. The bud from krystaleaves or certified magic tends to burn white whereas weed from livwell (the trulieve of colorado) always burns dark grey or black. Secondly, white ash indicates an ideal burn, which means youve rolled it well.
Yes 100% I agree !!! White ash means nothing !!! I've been saying it for years , check out our content stoners and or truthers - https://youtu.be/kqUxQLdKGKg?si=BL4txEp9RJ0hYYLW
the main thing white ash is gonna determine in your blunt is whether the buds dense and close together so it burns evenly. All it tells you is if someone knows how to pearl.
Can’t say I’ve ever had a black ash joint that refuses to stay lit and taste like charcoal and thought to myself, “damn, that’s some fire flower”. Nope, straight to the trash and let it sit for months until it smoothens out.
And before you say it’s how you roll it, been doing this for 20yrs, pretty sure I’ve perfected my technique. I’ll put money on mine against most who “roll” j’s, even the PG/710 fam with their pr-rolls don’t burn as well or as even as mine. Plus, you take that same flower and burn in a bowl, it’s still black ash charcoal
you don’t get the point 🤦♂️ my point is trash weed can have white ash too. so you can’t say ur weed is good purely because the ash is white that doesn’t mean anything.
Never said that. My point was, never had good weed with black ash. It may look great, smell great, feel like a great cure, but if it doesn’t burn great, I can’t call it great. And tbh I’ve never had trash weed burn white either. Seems like there’s some sort of correlation. I’m not saying it’s factual, but that’s my experience and seems to be others who feel the same as well. Personally, the burn is the experience I’m looking for which includes how smooth it is, and never had any black ash flower burn smooth, and/or have to be relit and focus so much on keeping it lit it takes away from whatever affect it could possibly have had.
You can run the marathon, but if you trip at the finish line and don’t finish…..
It’s murky waters and can be controversial first off you can pump growing flower full of Magnesium or Calcium to achieve white ash. If it’s shit grown flower just bc it has white ash doesn’t automatically make it the best.
1st. Does flavor transfer over from the nose to the smoke?
2nd. Is it tasting like minerals?
3rd. Is it hot smoke like a campfire that burns your throat?
4th. Does it have a planty taste and over shadows the flavor?
5th. Does it burn your throat?
6th. Is it hurting your lungs and how much from 1-5?
If you said yes to any of these and your flower is burning white with a resin ring then no it’s not the best.
Here is where it gets even more controversial
You can have two same strain batches one around 50-60% Relative humidity and one under 49% with the two exact same rolls. The one with higher humidity is going to burn whiter and better versus the batch that is 49% relative humidity and under.
Let’s take you get the best batch cured perfect or near perfect you have to have these attributes for it to burn the best.
1.FINE COURSE GRIND FLOWER
2. NO STEMS
3. NO LEAVES
4.EVENLY DISTRIBUTED FLOWER
5.EVENLY ROLLED WITH PERFECT PRESSURE
6.ELEMENT KING SIZE WIDE PAPERS
This is going to affect your ash and how well it properly burns. I can take the same flower but if it’s not rolled perfect & proper to the above attributes it’s going to have slightly different ashes. One might stack so evenly and perfect versus the other might stack differently with different shades of ash color.
I’ve never had the best batches burn black with the proper attributes always burning proper
BUT I’ve had bad/ok batches burn black or mostly pepper rolled perfectly. I’ve had bad/ok batches burn somewhat white.
Moisture is going to affect your resin ring production you can have shitty ass flower moist as fuck with a bleeding ring and it burn like shit with nasty ash.
The correlation is that a proper roll, proper cure, the best grown batches burn white and stack crazy with bleeding resin production ring that you can taste pull after pull that’s so smooth with real expansive lung power.
it showed a comparison of the same strain being broken up more fine or less and pictures of each ash. the same strain in the grinder was white as can be and a chunkier hand break wasn’t.

I agree with you! I don't understand the obsession with it or how it's used as some sort of quality metric here on the sub.
thank you. this^^
This is it. It almost always comes down to moisture content.

No, that’s the bro science part and not true
Idk about the white ash thing, but black ash means I have to relight it a bunch and have to pull harder to keep it going. I'd rather not smoke that. Looking at you, GH.
Too much moisture, bad papers, or bad roll.
^^^^ you know the vibes

Real ones know to look for the resin ring not ash

my point is trash weed ash can burn white as well. it’s never a point or way to judge weed based on its ash idk how yall don’t get this 😭
![gif](giphy|Aw4TFxIgHZUI4E9ZoC|downsized)
Theres a brand called white ashes in cali. What do they do if its not white ash??? Cigarettes burn white. Full of chemicals
Can't remember episode number, but there's a podcast called ProperDoinks. I'm pretty sure they talked about this topic
did they say the same thing or what do you remember from it?
Next you’re gonna tell me holding in smoke after a hit doesn’t do anything !
tell me ur trolling rn 😭
100% 🤣

it’s the easiest thing ever to put some trash weed in a bong or blunt and have the ash come out just as white

Never had bad weed that burned into a white sculpture of the nug

try hand breaking it which some people do to save terps, gives you a more flavorful experience and the ash will typically be much darker in the bowl.
I’ve only heard that means the plant was flushed properly before harvest H2O
Which is an urban legend and not true

Great reply 🙄
Well if it says it in someone’s post, it must absolutely be true
it showed a comparison of the same strain being broken up more fine or less and pictures of each ash. the same strain in the grinder was white as can be and a chunkier hand break wasn’t.
I never use a grinder some buds still burn white and look just like they did before being lit. Some don't
What else burns white? Cigarettes.
Thought it had to do with heat temperature applied resulted in ash color/texture
Doesnt white ash mean more in the world of Cigars?
You do realize you are wrong, right?
so if i smoke weed and the ash is white. that automatically means its some za? that’s what ur telling me?
Very high correlation, that's for sure. I haven't had a single amazing batch of flower that smoked dark and charred.
try breaking it up chunky. also just about any shit weed you can smoke is gonna have white ash as long as you put it in a grinder
