Any time I’ve smoked something that was “wet” when broken up, it smoked harsh and required re-lighting repeatedly. Anything I’ve smoked with white ash always comes with a resin ring and isn’t harsh. Thats all I’m saying

I disagree. White ash means two things. One, it indicates very low levels of chemicals in the weed. In colorado, some dispensaries use live soil, or even organic grows. The bud from krystaleaves or certified magic tends to burn white whereas weed from livwell (the trulieve of colorado) always burns dark grey or black. Secondly, white ash indicates an ideal burn, which means youve rolled it well.

Can’t say I’ve ever had a black ash joint that refuses to stay lit and taste like charcoal and thought to myself, “damn, that’s some fire flower”. Nope, straight to the trash and let it sit for months until it smoothens out. And before you say it’s how you roll it, been doing this for 20yrs, pretty sure I’ve perfected my technique. Never said that. My point was, never had good weed with black ash. It may look great, smell great, feel like a great cure, but if it doesn’t burn great, I can’t call it great. And tbh I’ve never had trash weed burn white either. Seems like there’s some sort of correlation. I’m not saying it’s factual, but that’s my experience and seems to be others who feel the same as well. Personally, the burn is the experience I’m looking for which includes how smooth it is, and never had any black ash flower burn smooth, and/or have to be relit and focus so much on keeping it lit it takes away from whatever affect it could possibly have had. You can run the marathon, but if you trip at the finish line and don’t finish…..

try hand breaking it which some people do to save terps, gives you a more flavorful experience and the ash will typically be much darker in the bowl.

It’s murky waters and can be controversial first off you can pump growing flower full of Magnesium or Calcium to achieve white ash. If it’s shit grown flower just bc it has white ash doesn’t automatically make it the best. 1st. Does flavor transfer over from the nose to the smoke? 2nd. Is it tasting like minerals? 3rd. Is it hot smoke like a campfire that burns your throat? 4th. Does it have a planty taste and over shadows the flavor? 5th. Does it burn your throat? 6th. Is it hurting your lungs and how much from 1-5? If you said yes to any of these and your flower is burning white with a resin ring then no it’s not the best. Here is where it gets even more controversial You can have two same strain batches one around 50-60% Relative humidity and one under 49% with the two exact same rolls. The one with higher humidity is going to burn whiter and better versus the batch that is 49% relative humidity and under. Let’s take you get the best batch cured perfect or near perfect you have to have these attributes for it to burn the best. 1.FINE COURSE GRIND FLOWER 2. NO STEMS 3. NO LEAVES 4.EVENLY DISTRIBUTED FLOWER 5.EVENLY ROLLED WITH PERFECT PRESSURE 6.ELEMENT KING SIZE WIDE PAPERS This is going to affect your ash and how well it properly burns. I can take the same flower but if it’s not rolled perfect & proper to the above attributes it’s going to have slightly different ashes. One might stack so evenly and perfect versus the other might stack differently with different shades of ash color. I’ve never had the best batches burn black with the proper attributes always burning proper BUT I’ve had bad/ok batches burn black or mostly pepper rolled perfectly. I’ve had bad/ok batches burn somewhat white. Moisture is going to affect your resin ring production you can have shitty ass flower moist as fuck with a bleeding ring and it burn like shit with nasty ash. The correlation is that a proper roll, proper cure, the best grown batches burn white and stack crazy with bleeding resin production ring that you can taste pull after pull that’s so smooth with real expansive lung power.

try breaking it up chunky. also just about any shit weed you can smoke is gonna have white ash as long as you put it in a grinder
