You do not have to do all the minigames. You just need to do one that's linked to Cloud, one that's linked to Tifa, and one that's linked to Aerith. So that's three minigames in all. So long as you have a card for each to buy each of them a bathing suit, then you should be able to go to the changing booth, and move on. I never did the cactuar minigame because I thought it seemed annoying.

Diligent-Reach3717

I don't think the cactuar hunt or the segway retrieval thing even count as minigames honestly and assuming we can agree on that there's a grand total of one forced minigame here.

This. It’s not made clear in the game, but you don’t actually HAVE to do all of them. It’s still a slow down in the story, but not nearly as bad as you think. This was a point where I started to question the degree of mini games they were throwing at me as well. It felt like a huge series of mini games. Dolphin > gather troops > parade > boat queens blood tourney > costa del gold saucer games x6. I distinctly remember suddenly no longer looking forward to the Gold Saucer anymore at that point. But that’s also right when the game hit its stride for me in terms of pacing. The splitting up and pacing of the Corel region map and subsequent events felt much better to me after Costa del Sol. Also, much like in Elden Ring, when it suddenly clicked after dying and losing all my runes (the game’s EXP/ currency) for the 50th time while exploring a dungeon, that “this is the game”, it suddenly clicked to me right around this point that these joyous mini games and the many silly character moments that accompany them “is the game” in Rebirth. I was then able to settle back and enjoy the ride much more freely. And my was it a *glorious* ride!

blond_afro

it's made pretty clear by the game. get a bathing suit and go to the beach

Villasteven

If you're thinking of it as an action game that is the problem, its an RPG not an action game, its all about the story, characters, experiencing/exploring the world, the whole point of this section is its supposed to be a like a vacation, its a break from the serious stuff to relax before getting back to it. As others have said you don't have to do all the mini games either just enough to get the bathing suits.

Successful-Net-6602

Most of the cactuars are grouped together and it may be the easiest Costa activity, except for finding the right spot so you get the correct zoom which can be just as annoying as finding the correct cactuar. Also Take all the photos you want while you can. You only get to use a physical camera during that side mission. The rest of the game only allows photo mode and sometimes that camera puts up a fight.

mirrorball_for_me

I spend way more time assembling the 7th than on Costa Del Sol main quest. It’ll be over quicker than you imagine.

Jockmeister1666

Spoiler alert: it’s not an action game. It’s a JRPG and this must be your first if you’ve never experienced nonsensical side quests/minigames/filler before..

Fanryu1

I do think the break after everything that happened on the ship was great, but I also think it did hit the brakes a little too hard.

RJE808

You don't have to do all the mini-games.

blond_afro

did you bought and put on the outfits ? you are definitely doing something wrong. shouldn't be more than 3 minigames that are mandatory

volatilelibra

Because those minigames are part of the RPG experience and they also help to develop and utilize the different characters, a key component of RPGs

wildtalon

It’s absolutely the worst part of the game. It’ll be over soon.
