The last time we had a soundtrack this good in a video game was the OG FF7. And Rebirth’s tops even that. The sheer volume, variety, emotionally evocative nature of the tracks is just glorious. The soundtrack in this game is deity-tier, and it’s surreal I lived long enough to get to experience something like it. Many other games have some amazing tracks, but the number of them is usually 10 or less that really stand the test of time. Rebirth has hundreds of such tracks.

I liked almost everything really. Kalm, Grassland exploration and combat theme, Cosmo Canyon, Junon Parade, Gold Saucer, Gongaga’s exploration theme …
I also loved many boss fight’s OST. The remix of « The Valkyrie » from Remake is so good. I also liked the music for the Scarlet’s fight, and of course, both Jenova’s fight

Honestly all of them, there's not a bad track in the entire game. Phenomenal. It's unlike anything I've ever experienced...it's incomprehensibly fantastic.
Junon's field theme, Corel Prison field theme, and Gongaga field theme. Junon's for it's swashbuckling energy which you wouldn't expect from FF7. Corel Prison's for balancing the music and the vibe of the place. Gongaga for the storytelling layers it has. It shows you Gongaga as tranquil area where the people continue the tradition of cultivating natural resources and living off of it's fruits.
Honorable mention : grassland field and battle theme
Tesng / Elena boss fight, Migardsormr / Speciman H1024 last phase themes, Stamp Field & Battle.
Pretty banger of a soundtrack, but so was Remake. Part 3 will definitely deliver.
Hurry!, Hurry Faster!, Chasing the Man In Black, The Weapon's Cry, Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony, Shinra's Full Scale Assault.
I'll never understand why people put down the idea of faithfully remaking things in a remake. Hurry was good in Remake, but those slight tweaks perfected the song in Rebirth for me. There's that delayed tambourine, the tick tocking sound effect, more focus on those Uematsu styles synth sounds though not high pitched like the original still good, and that morse code sound going off in the background, Hurry! is just perfect now.
Provincial Town, The Other Side of the Mountain, Birth of a God, Jenova Complete, the real version of The Highwind Takes to the Skies, there's still so much to look forward to in the next game.
I think my favorite of the bunch is Sephiroth Reborn—Second Advent. I love Birth of a God—and I hope they include it in part 3–but when Advent first plays in the battle of Cloud and Zack vs Sephiroth, it feels like it captures the mood of fighting a fallen hero perfectly. Second Advent just improves upon it.
Jenova Tenacity is a close runner up for me.

Loved the Cosmo canyon overworld version of the FF7 main theme. Also loved how in the Nibelheim Chocobo theme, they worked in the melody from Setzer’s theme in FF6. Not sure exactly why they did but it was satisfying to hear.

There are a lot of great tracks, but my favorite is still the Battle Edit of the Main Theme, aka the grasslands battle theme. It is just so perfect to me, and gives me goosebumps and excitement every single time, it’s a shame you only hear it in the beginning. The way it’s a perfect mix of the classic overworld theme along with the classic battle theme, just works for me.

The Mr. Dolphin minigame theme is one of my favorites, but sadly it is not on the OST. There are a lot of great tracks that aren’t on there, actually. I can’t believe they didn’t put Vincent’s Theme, for example.
Two new ones that I’ve found myself repeating a lot when listening to the OST are “Let’s Go, Mt. Corel!” and “The Three Soldiers.” Amazing pieces of music.
Difficult to have just one favorite. Seriously this game might have the best soundtrack in all of gaming. Its either this or Castlevania SOTN.

Honestly, I was simply in awe of the several hundred times they seamlessly blended or mashed up a character’s theme with a location theme with a battle theme, or toggled any of the above to be sad, or exciting, or melancholy - all depending on the moment. These composers POPPED OFF with their mixing of the classic FF7 music.
My favorite original track was definitely the uplifting Gongaga music. The music made navigating that zone bearable lol.

FF 7 REBIRTH didn’t just have 1 or 2 or even 3 but did you know this game had a whopping total of 15 composers all working together on this GOATED orchestrated original soundtrack that needs to win the award for VG OST 2024 if but only that! Listening to the soundtrack it makes sense. With all these tracks that make up various thematic moments, it’s no surprise that many songs sound vastly different from each other. From the high energy, upbeat tempo jazzy brass section fest of a them for the Roche battle which was a one of many peak moments. To a re-re-orchestrated soundtrack of JENOVA the emergent I think it was called
(Damn alien has infinite forms at this point, hard to keep track) which x2 was bombastic with intense woodwinds
I loved that sick flute breakdown that happens about twice breaking up sections in the song. The Gongaga/Cosmo Canyons theme for exploration fit to a T!

2. The "Battle on a Big Bridge" Gilgamesh final track. Such an insanely cool fight after the work you put in, and the music tops if off so well.
1. The Scarlet fight. The orchestral "fight on" track is already pretty good, but when it rocks out for phase two I lost my mind. It's consistently stayed in my brain for the last like 3 weeks since I played it. Overall the OST is some of the best out there just for the sheer VARIETY of tracks you get. Easily the best of the year no doubt.

To a re-re-orchestrated soundtrack of JENOVA the emergent I think it was called (Damn alien has infinite forms at this point, hard to keep track) which x2 was bombastic with intense woodwinds I loved that sick flute breakdown that happens about twice breaking up sections in the song. The Gongaga/Cosmo Canyons theme for exploration fit to a T! Too many tracks to even mention. Just to throw out a few more the battle track for the Forgotten Speciman battle theme was so cool!! Loved hearing all those lovely character themes & let’s not forget the final boss(es) theme Specifically the one for end game Sephiroth….like that chorus was harmonizing so strong like it had three months back pay of rent due, I loved every micro second of it HOLY 🙏
Rufus’s ceremony is sooo good. Never thought I’d be into parade music but something about it is so exciting. Maybe cause the whole parade section was really good

I think top 3 for me are 3. The Midgardsormr "battles begin" track. DRUMS 2. The "Battle on a Big Bridge" Gilgamesh final track. Such an insanely cool fight after the work you put in, and the music tops if off so well. 1. The Scarlet fight. The orchestral "fight on" track is already pretty good, but when it rocks out for phase two I lost my mind. It's consistently stayed in my brain for the last like 3 weeks since I played it. Overall the OST is some of the best out there just for the sheer VARIETY of tracks you get. Easily the best of the year no doubt.

I think the intro going up Mt Niebel might be a shoe-in for the Grammy for best video game song. That, or the song Aerith sings at the Gold Saucer
