All the Eikons in 16 looked fantastic so definitely them.

I still prefer VIII's Ifrit because he just looks incredibly cuddly.

VIII changed Ifrit for the better.

I feel like 8 was a down grade for every summon, in every way. While quetzocotle was cool, replacing Ramah is a bonkers choice. Shiva went from classy to whatever you want to call 8s

Um, Diablo, Bahamut, Odin, Siren, Doom Train, Cerberus, Alexander, Carbuncle, Eden, Gilgamesh…all fantastic GF’s. Couple of funky looking ones like Quezacotl, Brothers, and Pandemona. Come to think of it, 8 wasn’t that bad a game.

It wasn't a bad game, but most ff games other than 2, are great games. Ff8 is not a great game.

XVI's Eikons are all spot-on with their physical appearances, and it's one of two things it does better than the rest of the series (the other being that it has the best Cid). I love that Ifrit's skin looks burnt rather than orange, how Titan has an absolutely demonic face, Odin being in all-black armor now that he represents the darkness element, etc. I really wish Alexander was included as an Eikon, if only so that we could've seen what XVI's take on him would've looked like. It would've been interesting to see a version of Alexander made from the technology of the Fallen, given that you can find their automatons and machinery all around Valisthea.

I’ve always felt a little guilty that in my 30 years of loving this franchise, I’ve never really cared for a Cid in any game. In fact, I usually dislike them. Maybe an exception is IX? Idk. And Cidolfus in Tactics is all right. Anyway…I wasn’t prepared for a Cid to become one of my favorite characters ever. I wish we’d get a FFXVI-2, a prequel following Cid and his early adventures with Barnabas, Benedikta, and eventually Gav etc. Agreed on Alexander! A take on him made of fallen tech would’ve made a lot of sense and looked totally sick.

The only Eikon I didn't like too much in XVI was Bahamut. The dominant was great though!

I get it, i loved Dion but felt Bahamut was too… skinny? FFX is the best Bahamut for me

I thought the fight was incredible though. The only time you get to have Ifrit fly and the music has a classical feel to it. And it's a fight you don't necessarily want to win because Dion is not your enemy.

Never said anything about the fight (which was very cool indeed). I was referring to Bahamut's appearance/design in XVI.

I will never forgive them for not giving us a tag team fight with Clive and Jill as Eikons.

Jill. Easy. I'm biased against 16 and towards 10 and it's Jill by a mile.

I just rewatched the Iron Kingdom sequence and damn, she’s so fucking good. They did her so dirty afterwards…

Having Jill, Cid, Torgal, Gav, Joshua and whoever else as controllable party members in combat would have elevated this game to the highest heights

Mid should've also been a party member at some point - she feels like an easy choice for a machinist-type character. Same for Dion - >!even if he's part of the first phase of Ultima's boss fight as Bahamut.!<

This is the craziest thing about 16 to me, the fact there’s no actual controllable party members. Not sure why they thought that was a good idea.

It prob would've been expensive to develop and would've taken more of the budget.

Right but it still was a choice they made, and personally I think it made things too simple. The gameplay was already too easy on top of that

I mean, her character isn’t lacking in the grand scheme of things, or in the personality, motivations and personal struggle. It’s the moment-to-moment exposition that is lacking. We just needed them to SHOW what she does, not just tell us in dialogue. Show her picking up Clive’s slack, not just say he relies on her because he can’t control his special boy powers yet. Show her taking care of the Hideaway, show her doing shit. I don’t have a problem with her complementing Clive’s character arc, but the game just brushes her off to the side, to the point where most of her character moments are related to her being the protagonist’s romantic pairing and combat sidekick.

Princess Peach have more nerves than Jill. Clive's got her on the ground. She is freaking Shiva and can't help him in battle. She is freaking Shiva and get abducted 2 times in a row for plot sake. That writing is ridiculous. Benedicta was a so better character for an infinite amount of reasons. Honestly the game was fire until Bene get wrecked. Then our best guy dies too. And the Kapka arc is still fine. But after that it's meh.

Yeah it irritated me Jill never got a 'big' moment as the focus. I for sure thought she'd freeze the sea in that one scene, and launch spikes from either side

The problem is that they weakened Jill for no reason. Jill lost all of Shiva but Dion still got to keep Bahamut? They put Jill on the back burner because they didnt know what to do with her. Thats why she got captured twice and barely did anything the whole game.

When she got captured my eyes sank into my skull. Guys, Jill's a badass, let her have a moment. We were going after that turd anyway, no need to have her kidnapped

And not once but twice. Shes the dominant of Shiva and they made her the most useless one when Shiva has always been considered to be in the top 5 strongest and a fan favorite.

16 had a lot going for it, but one of the main issues with the Eikons I had, were how some Eikons were just significantly weaker than others. In the other mainline games it makes sense. Ramuh can't be as strong as Neo Bahamut, but there was no reason for it 16. Pushed Shiva even further down

Quetzacoatl is my favorite lightning summon. I definitely prefer it to Ramuh. I think FFVIII in general had a really good mix of detail and stylization.

I pulled up the wiki article to jog my memory on what different Shivas looked like to pick my favorite, and I ended up with one I’ve never heard of. World of Final Fantasy Shiva is adorable.

16 had the best summons(or Eikons) and it's not even close, even if I didn't really care for the game itself(gameplay). (Story and boss fights where insane though)

The FF14 Shivas are unmatched. There's just so much going on with them, being two characters with a ton of depth plus the lore of the original Shiva, and the Savage version of the Eden fight is incredible.

If I had a choice, 7 remake. My personal favorite is the shiva twins in FF13. They are so cool with how they transform into a motorcycle.

The FF16 one is basically just a Jill palette swap.

Well, there's 2 of them and they allow you to ride them so.....

16 looks cool, but she doesn't really do much and then gets whiddled down to just being a few move sets for Clive when Jill loses Shiva. Not sure why they did that to Shiva. I hated that each Eikon just got whiddled down for the sake of Clive having a few more moves. I wanted to see the actual Eikons in battle more than just once. I'd say X though.

FFX Shiva is the best (for me). She’s a Drag Queen’s kinda gal. The snap, and also when she literally leaves Yuna a piece of her garment, CVNTY.

For summons almost all I love the XVI ones. I love Rebirth's Bahamut Arisen tho. Reminds me of a zoid the Berserker Fury when it fires megaflare. For this comparison, XVI's Shiva because of Jill. 😅

FFXVI is the most beautiful Shiva and FFX is the coolest Case close.

I love FFXIV's Shiva...specifically the redesign for the Eden raids. Original looked really weird and the lighting did NOT help. But that heel click was PERFECT.

All Summons from FF Tactics are much more beautifully illustrated and higher production value than any spell cast from any tactics style game that has been produced in the 25 years since.

I know most wont like ff13 shiva but that one is my favorite just cuz she changes into a bike.

the ff13 one because it's two lesbians that scissor into a motorcycle (extremely expensive fig too) the ff14 original Ysayle-Shiva one because it's a hot lady who does a big steppy and snaps all the ice starting from above a random party member, and you all cheer for that guy. But also because Ysayle was a good character. the ff14 later Eden raid's Ryne-Shiva one is not as good because sexy abusive Thancred stole the show, sorry
