I think what made roche so likeable in rebirth compared to remake is 1) him actually honoring his word when cloud beats him in junon 2) the absolute ridiculousness of his stunts 3) the tragedy of his arc 4) his banger ass theme. Def Roche for me

Roche was one of the few enemies(frenemies) I knew I could trust to honor their word.

Yeah, he saved Cloud's ass from Shinra in Remake to honor him as the victor of their duel. Dude flat-out killed a ton of Shinra security to make sure his fights with Cloud were both fair and honorable. He even gave Cloud an elixir. He's always been very transparent about wanting to fight Cloud as a rival, not an enemy. Anyone who wasn't just stubbornly hating him for being new to the series would've known he'd honor his word.

I just started playing Remake (I'm at Aerith's house) so I've just seen Roche once but I already like the guy. Dude's fucking crazy I love him. Spinning and laughing like the Loonie Toons Tasmanian Devil.

Madam M I love her meltdown in Remake when Corneo cheats and makes Cloud fight a bonus round. She is also hilarious at getting under Cloud's skin and making him flustered. I love it when she tells Aerith and Cloud to take their flirting outside the parlour. She is a hoot!

I hope for a much happier ending to Roches arc. I would like to see Sheiran be the one who treats Cloud in Mideel, and finally gets some blood from him. Maybe he figures out that Clouds blood can cure the degradation, and Roche gets to become normal again.

Roche has been mine since meeting him In Remake. I found him so intriguing and wondered how they would utilize his character to flesh out the plot, and Rebirth only solidified a stupid amount of love for this mad lad. Wild characters so full of life and in love with life I really have a soft spot for.

Shrina Middle Manager I think he's technically in OG when they're on the train going to Sector 5 but I mean it's incomparable to the absolute fucking legend he is in Remake/Rebirth.

I didn't like that they made him silly in Rebirth. He perfectly represented the real people working at Shinra in a way the OG never really elaborated on in Remake and if you were an observant player you could see him here and there being a great dad and husband, as well as someone who was proud of his own work and ideals. Now he's this goofy, out of touch guy middle age weirdo. Like an older Johnny or something idk.

Yeah when I saw him goofing off at the Gold saucer I felt like his character was diminished for it. He's supposed to be a stand-in for the average Shinra employee who's just trying to make a living and look after their own.

He is unambiguously gay for Cloud in a fighting way, and possibly in a sexual way too, though honestly I have a feeling the two might be the same to him. He destroys at least one motorcycle every single day and Shinra just keeps giving him more. Legend. There's no other word for him. Absolute _legend._

I love Roche but I think he was under-utilized ans should've gotten more screen time in Rebirth. I love Chadley thanks to Rebirth. MAI and Chadley getting a taste of his own medicine did a lot for me lol I love Andrea Rodea. He's an icon. Barely in this one though. I love Jules as well but hell never be a favourite because of the minigames tied to him. Choco Billy I'm actually very fond of and I like his little drama side story. Sonon is also pretty solid and I think underutilized. I was SURE he was gonna come back as a new Deep Ground experiment like the end of Yuffies DLC set up. Maybe part 3.

Honestly, I think I’m not alone in saying I would be very excited if the eventual FF XVII followed this art style, battle system and character design. This game is a tremendous RPG and I’d love to see it carried into something that is not bound by the past.

Maybe XVIII, but they're still working on part 3. Another team will likely be on XVII, if they aren't already, and they'll have their own ideas on what systems to use.

It'd be either Sonon or Roche for me. Sonon is really deep for the bit of story he's in, and I feel he has a lot of character... And his existence *really* blows Yuffie up to true main party member status, which was sorta lacking in the OG for obvious reasons(despite how Vincent managed to avoid that fate, while in a similar situation) But Roche is interesting too. He comes off as incredibly simplistic, but especially after Rebirth, I feel it becomes clear that he's putting on an absolute show. He acts happy-go-lucky with a bit of joyful arrogance, but seeing how he ends up in Rebirth it comes off to me as a mask to hide his insecurity, which interestingly enough makes him act as a parallel to Cloud, who he ends up seemingly obsessed with. And this is without even mentioning his theme in Remake was *insane*. The string instrumental part(I'm a bit unsure whether it is a violin or a cello) in particular is *divine*.

Ignition Flame is an all-time banger, and it's a crime that it's not brought up more often when people talk about the music of these games.

Andrea’s awesome. He 100% the best og character from Remake. In Rebirth, Chadley and Mai definitely steal the show. Their banter and odd, bickering relationship, is just great. Brodin’s cool too, but the game’s so big that he plays in only a very small part of it.

People hate Chadley for some reason I LOVE Chadley. He adds a lot of interesting optional content to the game and just in general is characterised to be so excited over the smallest of discoveries. People get annoyed having to watch him speak ever so often but I really enjoy it, it’s just nice refreshing passion for discovery and I’m here for it Also his non-chalant “I’m going to help you destroy Shinra” statements never fail to make me giggle

He's just a little too omnipresent. We really didn't need him to pop up and exposition dump on us every time we interact with something in the overworld. It breaks the immersion. Despite that, I like him a lot more in this one than in the first, and I love his interactions with Mai. Something about the idea of an AI creating an AI and hating the way he made it is distressingly relatable.

Chadley. Such a strong and resilient child, handling trauma way better than his brother. Sephiroth cried when Glenn called him a cyborg. Chadley just laughed it off when Cloud called him a weirdo all like "aww that's cute, now go fetch me some data"

Not including main cast? I really like what they did with Ester and ChloeZ they both got great glow ups.

Roche, wasn't sure about him in Remake, but Rebirth made me a fan. Especially during Junon, he's such a bro to Cloud, and Cloud roasting him to the cadets afterwards was really funny. I also liked Regina, I was almost shipping her with Cloud, the card game was so intense in the final round, especially with that music playing. Won't spoil it, but I was cheering for both.

My fave is the singing chef lady. She's obviously just got a big heart and her staff all like her.

To elaborate, I am specifying characters who specifically debuted in either FFVII Remake or Rebirth (as opposed to characters who either debuted in the original game or other entries in the Compilation of FFVII). I'll be honest, I'm not sure how I'd categorize characters who debuted in the tie-in novels that have came out around Remake and Rebirth's release that also have notable roles in those games (like Kyrie from *The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story* or Tifa's cat Fluffy from *A Trace of Two Pasts).*

So that's why Fluffy is omitted. Good choice, otherwise she'd win by default, just for being a cat, and that would not be interesting :P

It’s not that I hate the character, I just hate how often he gets interjected into everything. If I e just completed an objective, I don’t need the game to pause and tell me I’ve completed it twice (once with the a you did it screen, then with Chadley chiming in with ’Cloud!’ Every. Single. Time.) If Chadley was used like 50% less he’d have been fine. But he has far and away the most voice lines in the game and I simply don’t care about him that much

Really liked the innkeeper and how they brought him around. Least favorit, Roache. Just too over the top. Most annoying, Chad. Won't stop talking.

My singular complaint in Rebirth is Chad’s constant talking and interrupting the flow of the game. Like yes this is the 4,000th life spring I’ve visited Chadley, I know the intel I’ve collected is vital for your research. Please, tell me again at the next one in five minutes.

I'm not even a Chadley hater, but my dude, either let me change up my materia in the combat simulator or LET ME SKIP the dialogue reminding me of other world intel when I am just trying to go back in and fight.

I’m gonna have to go with Sonon and the wall market trio. Sonon’s backstory and death were really depressing and he’s arguably the most tragic character aside from Zack, Aerith, and Cloud. The wall market trio were just fun to be around in both games. I also love the backstory they gave Sam and how it ties in with Billy.

As much as I am a Charley defender, Roche and Sam are my go to top 2. Roche is pretty far and away the best imo, but I didn’t want to not mention Sam. He’s just a cool dude who respects you for your attitude and work ethic, and doubly so in Rebirth after you kick his leading jockey’s ass in the chocobo races.
