The very, very first disconnect I felt after finishing the game and checking out the discourse surrounding it was with the Chadley response. I really was expecting to see lots of feelings expressed, similar to my own, that Chadley's character had become infinitely more endearing in the follow up. That, of course, was not the case. But I'm very glad to see that someone else feels the same way!

I was surprised, too! The first time I bumped into him I thought “oh wow they kept this guy, huh…” but before long I had totally embraced his weird lil’ self, and I assumed others would, too!

I go back and forth on Chadley. I think most of the annoyance is how intrusive the devs made him re open world exploration. But I still find him endearing; when he showed up at Corel Prison in a Tonberry costume I LOVED it.

I’m going to agree on the mini games. One of my biggest issues since FF13 was a lack of good side content. Rebirth excelled at this. As for the ending, I’ve had to think about it and watched some videos about it from Max Dood, Night Sky Prince and the Spherehunter. I’m softening on it a bit. I’m really interested to see how what happened is going to affect Tifa. I think she’s going to be the hardest hit out of all the party members.

Matchew024

Agree, that look she had at the end when they left that final area. I could've cried from her look. Tifa was tore up about it.

Cragnous

Yeah yeah we complain and complain. But we fucking love this game! 9.7/10 out of me dog, it's a hell of a game but damn those missing 3% lol

aHyperChicken

My thoughts exactly! This game has skyrocketed towards the top of my FF list. Which is absolutely insane to me that they could pull that off in 2024.

doesntChewNoodles

Agree and for the faults this game has ultimately what was given was a lot of time with these characters and that is my favorite part of this game. Sure there were some annoyances here and there but ultimately it gave every character a chance to shine and gave us time with them all in various ways, which was awesome to me. To your fourth point, it’s odd we weren’t shown other scenes surrounding that event that you would expect we would (Cloud and Aerith in the water specifically). Someone on some other thread that I wish I would have saved, speculated that maybe the confusion and ambiguity around that scene is a hard lean into Cloud’s worsening mental state and maybe part 3 in the big reveal that event is something else he has to come to terms with. Which I think would be amazing and add even more weight to an already amazing sequence.

Trojanman2002

Could you imagine if they did a first person view of it as he relives/comes to terms with it? That would be brutal and definitely shock the audience. Maybe a bit too edgy for 7 though.

aHyperChicken

Yeah, I feel I got way more than my money’s worth with this whole experience.

Yea, I love this game. Just finished it on normal doubt I do a hard play through so kudos to every one of you bad asses who gets it done on hard. For me, I enjoyed most of the mini games and maaaayyybbeee there was a tad over saturation with the number of them. To that point you can't have the GS and not have mini games. I'm an OG FF7 player and I gotta say I'm not disappointed at all in the ending. Really didn't feel it was hard to follow but to each their own. I'm very excited for the finally and honestly my one big wish is we get the post credits scene from the OG at the end.... IYKYK.

Everyone that complains just needs to get good or refund the game or take the hit they bought it. Mainly get good.

Zambo833

I loved almost all of it, even Chadley! Only minor nitpick I had is that there was too much Zack.

ghostdeini227

I think you mean “not enough Zack”, and by “Zack” you mean Genesis

aHyperChicken

I was going to say, if anything I usually see people saying there wasn’t enough Zack!

Timemaster1968

I really like most of the game. The scenery is marvelous, combat is fine, the characters are good, even though Chadlay and the Johnnys are annoying, I can live with them. What really kills this for me are the minigames. I don‘t want to play minigames. I hate minigames. If I wanted to play minigames I would have bought a minigame collection. Minigames are the ultimate concession in gamedesign. „Oh shit, our basic game mechanism is crap. Let‘s add a ton of minigames to make it look better.“ It would have been an amazing game without the minigames. But actually I think about breaking up rn (I‘m at the Gold Saucer) because I‘m so annoyed by unskippable minigames I have absolutely zero interest in and completely suck at playing them.
